Fresh swarm of superdelegates about to arrive

Expect more superdelegates to come.
Expect more superdelegates to come.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Get ready for a deluge of new superdelegates.

All superdelegates -– elected officials and Democratic National Committee members -– are not bound by their states’ results, and can vote for the candidate they choose. Both candidates are fighting just as hard for their support as they are for the votes of the people in the upcoming primary states.

But some superdelegates are unpledged add-ons - individuals selected by each state’s Democratic Party. They are elected at state party conventions, executive committee meetings or delegate meetings, depending on the state. A wave of those events are scheduled for the next few weeks, as states finalize their delegate slates.

Unpledged add-ons can be called superdelegates because they both have the same voting rights - the only difference is that superdelegates are selected before the primaries and caucuses, while unpledged add-ons are selected after the state has voted.

Some of these add-ons pledged their support for candidates before they were elected. Of those elected so far, Obama has officially earned six unpledged add-on votes, while Clinton has earned seven.

In total, there will be 76 unpledged add-on delegates. CNN is keeping track of these delegates, but will only add them to the official delegate after they are officially elected at their states’ meetings. As of today, 13 states have chosen their unpledged add-ons, with the results of today’s Maryland selection still pending.

    TO ALL THE OBAMA SUPPORTERS:

Since the media is refusing to reveal/report the Paul vs Clinton fraud case in court right now, we need to create our own movement and flood every blog on CNN and every blogging website on the World Wide Web with information from the case regardless of what the topic is. For those that don't know – Google Paul vs Clinton and hold on to your shirt with what you read!!

    OBAMANACS UNITE!!! LET'S DO THIS!!

When they arrive, let us know. For now, stop backbiting and speculating. You have become the most irrelevant news channel I have seen in a long time.

    Number of Delegates:
    Indiana: 72
    North Carolina 115

Don't be fooled. North Carolina is the big prize, not Indiana. If Hillary can't 'close the deal' and win North Carolina, then this race is over – despite what the media and the Clinton campaign portray.

The powers that be can just " Elect" a group of people who will just vote for "their" candidate thus totally negateing ANY type of vote. How is this legal???

We the people are getting tired of the lies that Hillary Clinton is spewing she is very sneaky and has so many dirty tactics that she's learned from her husband and the Republican Party. She was a Republican years ago and has gone back to their practices. I will wager that when she loses this nomination, she will go back to being a Republican. She is already showing that she agrees with them and has followed Bush with the war and several other things and McCain with the Gas holiday, which in the end won't be a holiday because we will wind up paying just like we have to pay in 2009 for the supposed checks that we'll be getting this month from bush.

  15. Hillary for President

I don't care if Hillary does not win North Carolina – Obama is not electible and we will lose if he is the nominee. It is the job of these oh so many superdelegates, with all their titles and rules, that can make Hillary the nominee regardless of North Carolina. Hillary has won all the big states that Obama will not win.

Superdelegates – do your job – do the right thing. Vote for Hillary

Everyone! Google Paul vs Clinton and hold on to your shirt with what you read!! I can not believe this is being hidden so well by the media and Clinton supporters claim she has a chance of winning once she is convicted in this case that she is apparently guilty of along with Gov Ed Randell and Former Pres Clinton. This will all be over soon! I know the superdelegates are watching this!

P.S. all Obama supporter should start talking about this in every post maybe the media will get the idea ! let the truth be told!

Go Obama 08 Yes We Can!!!!

  18. Real Change

I watch politcal news coverage about 4-5 hours a day (no I'm not proud of that) This is the very first I have heard of this. While you jokers have been continueally covering this Rev. Wright nonsince, this sort of real news was out there going completely unreported. How sad.

Everything about this is just sad. Apparantly the party has rigged up a fix so that they can overturn our vote if we don't vote for their buddy who they want to get elected.

This is just so sad. Unbelievable. And here I thought we lived in a democracy

Hillary said she will support Obama whole heartedly if he is the Democratic candidate. The Obama's (including and especially Michelle) have declined to make a similar statement.

There is something happening when Americans who are young in age and in spirit – who have never before participated in politics – turn out in numbers we’ve never seen because they know in their hearts that this time must be different.
There is something happening when people vote not just for the party they belong to but the hopes they hold in common – that whether we are rich or poor; black or white; Latino or Asian; whether we hail from Iowa or New Hampshire, Nevada or South Carolina, we are ready to take this country in a fundamentally new direction. That is what’s happening in America right now. Change is what’s happening in America.
You can be the new majority who can lead this nation out of a long political darkness – Democrats, Independents and Republicans who are tired of the division and distraction that has clouded Washington; who know that we can disagree without being disagreeable; who understand that if we mobilize our voices to challenge the money and influence that’s stood in our way and challenge ourselves to reach for something better, there’s no problem we can’t solve – no destiny we cannot fulfill.
Our new American majority can end the outrage of unaffordable, unavailable health care in our time. We can bring doctors and patients; workers and businesses, Democrats and Republicans together; and we can tell the drug and insurance industry that while they’ll get a seat at the table, they don’t get to buy every chair. Not this time. Not now.
