Poll of polls: Obama losing ground

Obama now leads Clinton by 1 point nationally.
Obama now leads Clinton by 1 point nationally.

(CNN) - The Democratic presidential race is tightening nationally, according to a new CNN average of several recent polls.

Obama's lead is now down to 1 point over Clinton nationwide, 45 percent to 44 percent, in CNN's "poll of polls." That margin is down 3 points from another CNN poll of polls conducted two days ago. In that analysis, Obama led Clinton 47 percent to 43 percent. The margin is also considerably lower than an April 18 poll of polls that showed Obama with an 11 point lead.

The poll of polls consists of three newly released national polls from Fox News/Opinion Dynamics, Gallup, and Newsweek. There is no margin of error on the poll of polls.

Both the Fox News poll and the Gallup poll were conducted partially after Obama's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, made a fresh round of controversial comments earlier this week.

The Fox News poll also appears to show Obama no longer has an edge over Clinton among independent voters. In head-to-head match ups, presumptive Republican nominee John McCain wins independents by a 4 point margin over Clinton (42-38 percent) and by a 10 points over Obama (47 percent to 37 percent).

He threw his "uncle" Wright under the bus, will he throw his wife, Michelle under the bus too? She made some bad remarks about America, look at her thesis, she is the same as Wright, only a different flavor. Obama is a flip-flop.

    About Time!!!!!

CNN start reporting the real news!!!!!! It a shame that FOX News have to come out and get the facts out on Obama (Wright, Rezko, San Fran terrorist freaks, Michelle comments)...... All those people that claim CNN being against Obama from the start? Stop kidding yourself!!!! CNN have been for OBAMA camp since the begin of the political race and that why we are now hearing about all the ties that Obama have? If CNN done their job like there suppose to this would been old news for Obama!!!!!! There is no way I can vote for somebody that have been parts of so many organzations that hate America so much!!!! No wonder Michelle finally to be proud of American..... when she sit in a church for 20 years that preach hate, some of it have to rub of on her!!!!!! Then not just a preacher, but you have a crazy San Fran terrorist, just another group that Obama have been part of that hate America.... He just don't have hate Americans? he tried to killed Americans!!!!!! Obama say he not part of it, but he have no problems taking their money? Same with Wright and Rezco........ Sorry I be one of many Dems that be switching parties if Obama win.......

    GO Hillary 08

funny how polls only matter when they favor your candidate of choice. stop blaming the news networks and face the fact that obama has finally been called on the carpet to put up, or shut up. he's frankly done neither.

I have never been polled on any of these and don't know anyone who has. Is there anyone here who has been polled? Who are they asking?

And Cindy Murphy...grow up and learn to read and think on your own. MI officials were warned by the DNC to not move up their primary or they would not count their delegates. Obama had NOTHING to do with it. He and Edwards pulled their names off the ballot to show solidarity with the party, because they AND SEN. CLINTON agreed to go by the rules. Sen. Clinton is on record with agreeing with the decision and the ONLY time she changed her position was when she found herself behind and needed the votes. She had NO PROBLEM with disenfranchising MI and FL when she believed she was the shoe in Democrat nominee. She only cares now, because she needs them. She was happy to "abandon" MI and FL – she is using them now because she can't come close to winning without them. You should be insulted that she would play MI & FL. READ!!! Get the real details. Stop being so gullible. Even if you vote for Hillary, at least know the honest truth and then just say you are willing to vote for her anyway. You don't need an excuse – vote for whomever you want. Just be honest and know what and why you are voting for that person.

    Obama O-8!

If Mr. Obama waited just a few more years, with experience comes knowledge. The great rule of knowledge is knowing who your friends are when the going gets tough. Unfortunately, Mr. Obama has learned that lesson, like the Ides of March but in April. This stunt is the last thing a person of Faith would expect from his minister. No reason for joy or pun as it is a sad experience for all people of Faith.

Have all of you Hillary fans forgotten that what goes around comes around. Today Obama is the big story, believe me, tomorrow it will be Hillary's turn. Who knows what skeletons are left to fall out of hers and Bills separate closets.

CNN has been pro Obama for the last year. You can't accuse them now of being pro Clinton but they have to report the facts and the fact is Obama is imploding and Clinton is headed to the finish line.

and Oh yes I know my comment is awaiting moderation. GEEEEZ when does this crap stop,

  10. Obama The Loser

FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!! People are starting to wise up, they are starting to use their brains and are realizing that Barak Obama is not Presidential material. It was inevitable that this was going to happen, despite the fact that the press shelters him like a fragile child, and his campaign plays the race card like a finely tuned violin. Sooner or later, the majority of Americans were going to find out about his racially divisive past, his lies about being a "different kind of politician", his hypocrisy, and the emptiness of his rhetoric. Better sooner than later while we still have the ability to choose Hillary Clinton as our Nominee to beat John McCain in the General Election.

BARAK OBAMA DIVIDES, RATHER THAN UNITES, AND HE HAS NO CHANCE OF BEATING JOHN MCCAIN IN NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has no experience. We know very little about him, and what we do know is EXTREMELY DISTURBING: Bill Ayers, Rev. Write, an anti-American WIFE, a WEAK SENATE RECORD, and LIES ABOUT INTRODUCING LEGISLATION. The list can go on and on........

The last thing this country needs is an under-qualified, hypocritical, cowardly, weak, racially divisive, terrorist-sympathetic HACK as our President. Thank God the truth is coming out!!!! His numbers will continue to dwindle as we learn more about him. He should do what is right for the party and the country–DROP OUT OF THE RACE.

I hope all of you blind, OBAMA BUFFOONS can find the DECENCY to do what is right for our great Country. Admit you are wrong and get behind Hillary Clinton.

He is like the brother and she is the sister....SHE gets to hit him and folks will say she is tough because she stands up to a boy, but the MINUTE he hits her back, HE is in trouble for hitting a girl. And she has and will cry "the boys are beating up on me".

Also, if Obama gets in the dirt with her, he will be dubbed the angry Black man who is beating up on a white woman.

Obama isn't losing ground, you all are just shuffling the polls to make it look like he is losing ground. I expected you all to do this. Folks are not crazy, we know what you do. However, he is stll leading in delegates, most states, raw vote, etc. Think about that! We are!

All the people who back Hillary should know that she is the biggest "CARP" in history; that she will eat her children in her quest to the White House....she is the worst candidate, the lowest of character of anyone ever to run for the White House ever!

    Read this.....and weep......stupid people!

Clinton is the stronger of the two candidates. This race has always been much closer than the media and the Obama camp have wanted to acknowledge. The truth of the matter is that the more Obama is vetted, his numbers begin to decline. This is likely true of any candidate. The difference is, as Clinton has been saying for months, there is a ton of information out there about her that has been rehashed over and over. The vetting process for Obama should have begun a long time ago rather than just a few weeks ago. Had that happened, this race would have been locked up and Hillary Clinton the Democratic nominee. Hillary cannot be blamed for the lack of vetting of Obama. Any claims to the contrary are beyond ridiculuous.

    Go Hillary!

    Obama is done.

He and his supporters must realize that he will never become President of this United States, the most powerful Country on Earth.

The Democratic Party is likely allow themselves to be held hostage, frightened, bullied and threatened by his supporters and end up awardinig him Party's nomination, but he will lose badly in November '08

He promises to bring people together but he cannot find ways to reconcile and make peace with his Pastor, a man he has known for 20 years.

In the end when the chips were down, he showed that he is just another inexperienced, dishonest Politician from Chicago.

The interesting thing about Pledged and superdelegates is that their support is not guaranteed. All of you spouting about Obama leading in pledged delegates just remember when that fire spreads a little bigger the rats (delegates) will abandon ship.

McCain 09 (the only one without a controversy)

It makes me wonder why it took so long for Obama to denounce his so called 'Spiritual' mentor! All along Obama has been listening to the fiery inspirational sermons of Rev.Wright & never found them objectionable & now-–a new wisdom has dawned on him! Can anyone depend on such a rperson to lead the country?

It's becoming more and more clear that Obama is just another politician who is good at giving speeches. Remember, he voted "present" over 100 times, not a man of action or conviction.
