Elizabeth Taylor urges primary voters to back Clinton

The actress and activist officially endorsed Clinton Friday.
The actress and activist officially endorsed Clinton Friday.

(CNN) - Actress Elizabeth Taylor urged voters in next week’s Democratic primaries to back Hillary Clinton's White House run, saying in a statement released Friday that the New York senator was “not a flibbertijibbet.”

“It would be magnificent for our country if Senator Clinton won the votes, hearts and minds of the people in Indiana and North Carolina on Tuesday. She’s a brilliant teacher and powerful leader. We all know what she’s about. We know what she isn’t. Senator Clinton is not a flibbertijibbet [sic]. She’s strong,” said Taylor.

“It’s also important for great leaders to have a sense of humor about themselves. The future of our great country rests in the hands of the next president. Who sits in the Oval Office will be determined greatly by the citizens of Indiana and North Carolina. In my heart, I know they will choose wisely and they will choose well.”

The actress and activist is a longtime Clinton supporter who has donated the legal maximum of $4,600 to the senator’s campaign.

In January 2007, Taylor also pointed to Clinton’s toughness as the reason she was contributing to her presidential bid. "I have contributed to Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign because she has a mind of her own and a very strong one at that," Taylor she said in a statement then. "I like the way she thinks. She is very savvy and a smart leader with years of experience in government, diplomacy and politics."

Who cares are what Miss Taylor says... she has never taken her own life seriously? How does she expect anyone in his or her right mind to treat what she says with any relevance? She is stuck in the past just like the person she is endorsing. Miss Taylor this about the FUTUER not the past. That same business as usual attitude in Washington that has turned things soar in our country isn't going to cut it this time around. We need fresh minds...

    VIVA OBAMA!!

Taylor needs to stick to what she does best: Husbands, perfume and movies.
Movie stars, unless they are running for office, should stick to what they do best.
I take offense at her comments about Clinton being a good teacher.
The woman who acted like the intern her husband had sex with while at work was a major inconvience didn't teach us anything but deny, deny, deny.
She didn't have the grace or leadership to get him to admit the truth and move on.
    NO MORE CLINTONS IN T

Glad to hear one more for Clinton, I state again if Obama gets it I will vote for McClain. So if McClain gets it it will be the fault of the big wigs in the party who are to bull headed to listen to what Obama is and want their own way. Such as not counting the FL and MI votes. Get rid of those and get someone with common sence in.

    Ms. Taylor:
You are a person from the past; you are older than I, and I am older than dirt. What exactly are your qualifications for analyzing the Democratic race other than your sex?

Since when does Elizbeth Taylors opinion matter! I find it amazing that we act as if Celebrities that know how to act, have a more intelligent knowledge when it comes to Politics. Hillary is an actor want to be, and shows it each time she acts with her ever changing stories. If the Democrats cannot come up with anything better than Hillary, or Obama, then the Democratic party is in major trouble. Neither one will do anything to improve the economy, or the price of gas.

Why is this news? Neither Barack OR hillary are flibbertigibbets..

    flibbertigibbet \FLIB-ur-tee-jib-it\, noun:
A silly, flighty, or scatterbrained person, especially a pert young woman with such qualities.

    Hillary is a politician.
Hillary is a senior in the white house.
Hillary has the heart and mind to work for public service.
    But,
She can not be our president.
She can not unite people in this country. She does not truly understand how other governments works in their system, especially middle east and Asian countries. She has no clue about how they think. Therefore, she can not promote peace.
She has no integrity. She mends problems. She goes what is popular. She has no ability to think through a challenging problem so that to make a crucial judgment to solve a problem from its roots.
I warn you, vote for her is a vote for doom!!!

US Magazine August 28, 2000 shows Peter Paul's Japanese partner Tendo Oto, with his interpreter VP Johnathan Rodgers, sitting behind the Clintons at the Gala Concert Fundraiser for Hillary Clinton (Event 39) paid for and produced by Paul. Oto was prohibited from attending and/or contributing to a federal fundraising event and he was unable to be vetted by the Secret Service because he had no Social Security number. He was "smuggled" in by Clinton agents Rosen, Levin with the approval of the Clintons because of his business relationship with Paul and through him the Clintons.

well thank you Liz, by the way when is the last time you bumped your gas. Also the saving $35 for a short term gain is not that smart of a plan especially ,if the replublicans have to go along with a windfall profit tax on oil companies, get real people. Most people called that
pandering, but she is not elite, yeah right .Also why doesn't she fire
Mark Penn a notorius uniom buster, paying him about $10 million, but can't find the money to pay her workers benefits, or for that matter
her old high school for rent she owe. Hmmm. And when will the
media report on Peter Paul. Did you attend Liz, inquiring minds want to know. Have you got your subpoena yet?

"She is very savvy and a smart leader with years of experience in government, diplomacy and politics." - Liz Taylor

You're right, Liz – Clinton is savvy, smart, blah blah blah – when you compare her against YOURSELF. However, your baseline is wrong my dear.

Try comparing her against Obama – you will realize he far outweighs her in savviness and smartness.

As for her experience? That didn't help us whole lot when the vote for Iraq war came up, did it?

Experience that doesn't translate to good decisions is no good. Sorry, but I will take Obama's "inexperience" anyday over Hillary's experience.
