From

(CNN) — Barack Obama has won the Guam Democratic caucuses by a margin of 7 votes.

With all of Guam’s precincts reporting, Obama won 2,264 votes (50.1 percent) to 2,257 votes (49.9 percent) for Hillary Clinton, his sole remaining rival for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Obama led the vote count throughout the day and had a 52.7 percent to 47.3 percent advantage over Clinton by late afternoon. Clinton then won the sole remaining precinct — Guam’s largest village of Dededo — by a 61.9 percent to 38.1 percent margin, which brought her to within 7 votes of Obama in the overall tally.

Polls closed at 6 a.m. eastern time Saturday, but vote counting on the U.S. territory took over 13 hours to finalize.

Obama and Clinton will split the U.S. territory's four pledged delegate votes evenly, with two apiece.

The win gives Obama his 31st victory of the campaign, including his win in the Texas caucuses in March. Clinton has won 16 contests, including the Texas primary.

The battle for the Democratic nomination next heads to Indiana and North Carolina, which both will hold primaries on Tuesday.

Do you seriously question Obama’s patriotism? Obama’s character, integrity and sea mind demonstrated through this whole drama is what exactly this country needs if we stand any chance at all for a more perfect union. Ordinary person may leave a church on disagreement, but IF YOU WALK AWAY, HOW CAN YOU ACHIEVE UNITY? This is exactly the difference between an ordinary person and an extraordinary leader whom we can count on for making our country a better place for all.

On relationship with Wright: My husband and I have married for 27 years. Lately, I always have a feeling that I don’t know him in many ways. That’s not uncommon even between couples. Human beings are complicated creatures, and one can only be held responsible for one’s own conduct, not one’s kids, not one’s parents, not one’s spouse, never one’s pastors. How can people do not care Hillary’s lies, but care Obama’s pastor’s lies?

A fact on Obama’s life: After graduated from Columbia Univ., Obama took a job in IL at $12000/year plus $1000 for a car in the poorest, dirtiest neighborhood as a community organizer. All his family and friends thought he was crazy. How many of us can do that???

One last point, if I permitted… Thank You!

Obama, before this election is over will be the most antipathy candidate ever in the history of candidates.

He is so divisive, so abstract that he is uncomprehensible in his promises of what he will contibute to America…

Hope…? What does that mean… Hope for what.. Hope we all wake up tomorrow morning.. What the hell does that mean…

Change you can count on? What does that mean…
Change that I will destroy America, that you can count on, or Change I will give everyone a glorious new life from the bottom up, but you must participate… LOL

God, Obama is so unsubstantiated that it is ludicrous that so many sophisticated people are being enthralled by his B.S..

My greatest fear is that if he is elected, it will be the beginning of the great fall……….That is why I am so adamant against this weak person who is controlled by the extreme left wing….

So, if you think that I am delusional, I only pray that you are correct !

OlvrWhit   May 4th, 2008 12:48 am ET

How many of you " experts" can even find Guam on a map..

Look, this very simple. The conventional wisdom was that barack Obama was expected to win Guam because of his Pacific Islander heritage.

Those of you who claim we don't understand how this works, 7 votes in Guam does not equate to hundreds of votes. Its 7 people voting. The system there is not like the caucus elections in the state. They all should be banned.

Finally, this is a victory for Senator Clinton. She spent little resources in Guam, unlike Obama and still made this an even race, just like the primary election in general. This is a dead heat, and Hillary is about to take the lead.

I would suggest all you know-it- alls actually know something. By the way, yes the Paul vs. Clinton case was real, but frivilous and thrown out. Will you please move on.

I've had it to the moon and back with some of you. STOP IT! Stop making fun of each other. Whether you like Clinton or Obama just play nice.

Guam is not really a caucus it is more of a primary so seven votes really is seven votes. Guam is closer to Hawaii than any other state and it is a Pacific island, but it is still pretty far away.

A win is a win, both sides have said that. Second, we don't know who the super delegates there are yet (TBA after we figure out who won the election there), so we don't know who has them.

A win by less than 15% by Obama in NC may be a step back, but a won there is still enough to make it much harder for Sen. Clinton to win, (each state he wins, even by a little makes it less and less possible for her to get the nomination without over turning the majority in pledged delegate through supers).

Current polls do say that Clinton is favored to win more strongly in big states over McCain than Obama would, but that is a snapshot and a few weeks ago they showed the opposite.

Obama has mis-spoken, but so has Hillary, (i.e. she was not named after Edmund Hillary after his historic climb because that happened 7 years after she was born).

Point being, they both are human, they both have flaws. Right now Obama is leading, and is more likely to get the nomination. Clinton could still win fairly too. In the end we should rally behind the one with the most pledged delegates and STOP BICKERING!!!!!!!! This is childish and stupid.

Carry on those of you who are not attacking supporters of your rivals, the rest of you, GROW UP!!!!! Clinton Supporters who attack Obama supporters and vice versa need to learn how to play well with others.

Steve   May 4th, 2008 12:33 am ET

I demand a recount!! j/k. This is a virtual tie which means that it helps neither candidates' cause. By the way, Guam is not a state, it's a territory. Some bloggers seem not to know the difference

Indiana Voter   May 4th, 2008 12:25 am ET

Folks, focus, focus, focus! Focus on the issues, not all of this non relevant stuff. Focus on the issues – economy, the war, gas crisis, social security, etc. All of this negative fighting is not going to solve these problems.

These 2 candidates are like us. They have their good points and bad points. I happen to think that Obama has better character and leadership skills. Hillary tells us what she things we want to hear. Bottom line is nothing will happen to her empty promises.

Obama does not have anything to worry about, he already know he's got the nomination. Some much money being wasted that could be used on McCain.

*"I should be able to get it wrong on arguably the most important vote that I have to make in my Senate career, and then just argue that I hadn't seen the NIE as an excuse…and also, the fact that I didn't read the NIE doesn't make me any less of an uninformed leader. Sean, CA   May 4th, 2008 12:17 am ET

I don't see how the demographics favor Barack or know of any polls that showed him as the frontrunner, but I do know that Hillary was the only candidate to set foot on Guam. I'm baffled by the fact that Clinton supporters call Obama's base, a cult. Barack Obama has a lead in the popular vote, the most elected delegates, and the most states won, so he is clearly in the majority. On the other hand, Clinton has virtual no chance of winning, yet she continues to stay in and attack the likely Democratic nominee. Are you saying that America is just one giant cult, and that those clinging to the Clinton campaign are the only ones not part of this cult? Please take your negativity elsewhere…You can't blame CNN for wanting to keep this race going, just think how much this boosts their ratings. However, I do think it is time for the media and the Democratic party to stop delaying the inevitable. Lets stop doing the GOP's job for them, and start trying to regain what was rightfully ours (Gore?)!

My demographic – white – older – Christian – not blue collar. I like Rev Wright more than either B.O or H.C. Why? He shows character, tells it like it is, rests it on Christian principles, is not interested in Political correctness. Sen. Obama is absolutely correct when he says "Rev Wright and I share nothing in common". That's why B.O is losing support. He sacrifices all, including his Pastor, for Political correctness.

A Little History on this Year Presidential Race.

Hillary will lose out on two ends let me explain why thanks to Bill Clinton and the DNC. The democrat national committee knew Hillary was a polarizing figure to the American people and had lots of baggage that would be used against her in had she won the nomination for president and was their first choice and they the DNC had built this years election process around her.

The DNC knew about Barack Obama when he gave his speech in 2004 and several high profile people including the Clinton's wanted Barack Obama to wait and run for president "8″ eight years from now giving HRC a straight shot at wining the White house in 08 because they new the republicans would not have a chance in hell of taking the office again after a Bush administration.

Now here is why Hillary will lose out on two ends, she could have had the chance to become the 1st women president of the United States Or 2nd The first women to become the 1st Vice President of the United States. Now she will lose out on both because she chose to run her campaign like a republican which could potentially damage the DNC.

This is how it was expected to turn out. With all of the super negative press Obama has had in the last six weeks or so while Hillary has idly been sitting back just watching it all, this is a good thing for Obama. The media is trying their darndest to drag this primary out as long as it can so they have something to talk about. If the media were honest and fair we would be hearing about BOTH of the canidates in this democratic race. Instead we are only hearing all of the speculation and hearsay about Obama. No facts, just speculation. Their are plenty of facts out there, but the media loves these tabloid like stories to report on.

Barack Obama is so far from being an elitist. He's a self-made man. He is the American Dream.

Even if Obama were an elitist, which he isn't, would it matter? Who the hell cares? Isn't a presidential race supposed to be about who is the better candidate?

Hillary Clinton is more privileged, she's equally educated, and she has similar experience. How is she not an elitist? Because she panders to the crowd and tells them what they want to hear, rather than what they need to hear?

Mary   May 3rd, 2008 11:26 pm ET

Would that not be 7%? If it was Hillary you would say percent and not votes.

Alan   May 3rd, 2008 11:25 pm ET

How hard is it to do the math:
even if Clinton wins NC by 1%, and wins ALL other remaining states by 60-40 margins AND gets 60% of ALL remaining superdelegates, then she still can't overtake Obama. And all of these scenarios are highly unlikely.
It's over.

Why does CNN feel the need to begrudge Obama of his win? Hillary was supposed to win by double digits in pennysylvania but Obama cut that lead Way down — funny how you guys didn't qualify her win with that detail. Bill's 1994 Telecommunications Act, which consolidated the media and put it in the hands of just a few corporations, has paved the way for a right wing agenda and his wife's presidency. It's no coincidence that Bill and george bush senior are buddies, that the NC republican party is running ads against Obama (on hillary's behalf, obviously, since McCain isn't running in a primary there on Tuesday), Rush and Ann Coulter are stumping for Hillary, and she gets away with continuous lies and pandering to the lowest common denominator in America.

Spectacles   May 3rd, 2008 9:44 pm ET

There are a lot of people who post here that do not understand why Florida and Michigan lost their delegate rights.
It has to do with positioning. Florida and Michigan tired to position their states ahead of others thinking that they would get better representation for the state if they chose the candidate. They wanted to be the great deciders so their states would benefit from the outcome down the road.
The DNC said no fair. If they had stayed where they were Guam may not have even had a primary this year. So the officiials in Florida and Michigan are why Guam got to vote and they did not.

Its that simple and its right. States would be moving their primaries all over the place trying to position their voters to get the most bang for the buk and if Mich and Fl get away with it then other states will try too.

This should have been sorted out before the primaries started and if Hillary were concerned about it she could have tried to do something about it before they voted, not after. Especially since it makes her look very bad to have kept her name on the ballot.

Roy   May 3rd, 2008 9:44 pm ET

You can bet a month's salary had Hillary won, even by a mere 7 votes CNN would have splattered in banner-style across the headlines. I noteiced earlier (right after the win). They have a title show "Obama wins Guam by only 7 votes." Okay, fair I guess, a very small edge. But….the picture under the headline was that of a huge Hillary for President sign. We know whoi's running the show CNN. It might be easier to accept if you'd just admit your lapdogs for the Hillary camp. Not that I plan to view your shows or read your site much anymore.

All that being said…GO OBAMA…..He's ahead by 9 in NC and by one in IN. I'll do the dance of joy if he wins both IN & NC.. If he only wins one, that's cool BUT that means more desperate measures in the Hillary campaign.

Jodie, Idaho   May 3rd, 2008 9:18 pm ET

Obama was not favored to win. Guam is like 3,000 miles from Hawaii. Why would he be favored? Everyone listen!!! Why are you prolonging this race? Vote for Obama and lets unite this party! The Supers will never over throw the candidate with the most pledged delegates. Do the math!! It is impossible for HIllary to beat Obama in pledged delegates. You are only helping the republicans. Hillary can win next year. Please do this for the sake of our nation. We can not stand another 4 years of McSame!!

Rob   May 3rd, 2008 9:18 pm ET

As much as people like to call this a caucus, it was not. It work more like a standard vote. Also the reason why people thing Obama was supposed to "win big", was based on belief that because he was born in Hawaii, it would transcend to being a Pacific islander and GUAM and Hawaii are both in the Pacific Ocean! Oh but happen to be over 1k miles apart.

LuLu   May 3rd, 2008 9:16 pm ET

Pathetic! I agree with the above posters that it's pathetic to have Wright on the top of the page all day long. What rates that being in the news at all today, let alone the top story? WHY is this being dragged up over and over and over and over, to the exclusion of all the other important topics?!?! CNN – please move on and cover all of Hillary's negatives with as much diligence.
Yay Guam
Go Obama

libby   May 3rd, 2008 9:13 pm ET

LOL!!!

Go Hillary!!! You will win by the time the spoiled ballots are counted. A lot of the good elderly people in Guam voted for Hillary and they are more likely to have spoiled their ballots.

Great job and thank you Guam

gman   May 3rd, 2008 9:12 pm ET

Why do you guys keep saying he was suppose to win by double digits? I never saw that posted anywhere. If anything it was too close to call. Clinton already had endorsements…and Bill did a live interview to discuss Guam issues. All OB had was the fact he once lived in the Pacific. Never saw the double digit or landslide thing. I do take issue with the statement he only won becuase he's a person of color. Stop making everything a race issue. Maybe just seven more voters thought he was a better canidate.

Black Republican, New York, New York   May 3rd, 2008 9:08 pm ET

CNN should check itself. One headline reads: OBAMA LOSING SUPPORT! Another reads: Clinton gaining on Obama. And now: Obama edges out Clinton by 7 votes. I'm confused, but could CNN tell us who is leading this race and in whose favor the math now stands?

The remaining races are going to be close, except for North Carolina, which Obama is likely to win by a blow out. But CNN will not concede that Hillary will still lose the nomination because its serves CNN's news interests to keep this race going, even if it makes CNN look stupid for doing so.

This race is effectively over. Tell Hillary the truth she doesn't want to hear: She is a loser who is a user who is getting a taste of her own medicine: CNN is using her to make news.

Tide is Turning   May 3rd, 2008 9:07 pm ET

CNN favors Obama by the amount of Guam reports. The candidates will split the delagates. The tide is turning toward Hillary in spite of the media trying to spin voters toward Obama.
Maybe Fox would let this be posted…

anti-hillary   May 3rd, 2008 9:06 pm ET

hillary lost guam. cnn post a big picture of wright in the web and we have 3 days for the election in IN and NC. cnn is working for hillary. why does cnn post a wright picture in the web?

Joe Reg   May 3rd, 2008 9:06 pm ET

7 votes does not mean 7 individual votes, because caucuses is not the same as primaries votes.

Therefore those 7 votes would translate into a least 500 or about one 1000 regular votes. that's the way you get to see it.

Who gets the momentum now.

Go Obama go!

lol   May 3rd, 2008 9:05 pm ET

obama won by 7 votes big deal, they split everything, but this doesn't compare to PA where hillary smoked him. vote hillary 08!

Tide is Turning   May 3rd, 2008 9:05 pm ET

Ken   May 3rd, 2008 9:03 pm ET

7 votes?? That sucks. On the other hand, Obama has one twice as many races as Shillery.

By the way, when will CNN report on Paul vs. Clinton??

Obama '08

Marjori, Florida   May 3rd, 2008 8:59 pm ET

Agree with earlier respondent. CNN did not highlight Obama's win in Guam!! Shame on you CNN. A win is a win. What is wright doing on the front page (or the front burner)???

OBAMA '08 & '12 for Florida!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kim in CA   May 3rd, 2008 8:59 pm ET

CNN usually does an excellent job reporting the actual horse race, but this post is disappointing. CNN reported this CORRECTLY for Iowa (and other caucus calculating states) why all of the confusion about Guam? And you might note in the comments sections that people are saying there should be recounts — which is ridiculous if you realize we are speaking about DELEGATES and NOT actual VOTES. (And that Senator Obama's actual vote lead exceeds 7 by quite a lot).

Guamanians vote like any other primary — they cast their secret ballot and go home (or wherever else they might want to go for business or pleasure). Then, these votes are counted by hand, tabulated and translated into DELEGATES (like a caucus state). Over 25,000 Guamanians voted in yesterday's caucus.

25,000+ people voted in Guam, yet CNN's so-called "vote totals" reflect only 4,521. This is because CNN is not reflecting vote totals, it is reflecting DELEGATE totals.

Guamaniams elected 4,521 delegates to go to the Guam Democratic Convention yesterday. Those 4,521 are backed up by more than 25,000 actual votes cast. Thus, Senator Obama did NOT win by 7 VOTES; he DID win by 7 DELEGATES. At the convention, these delegates will select 4 delegates to go to the Democratic National Convention.

Please correct this because your innacurate reporting is creating conspiracy theories where there should be none.

YOU HAVE THE BEST COMMENT I'VE SEEN IN THE PAST MONTH, HATS OFF TO YOU AND I WISH MORE WOULD USE YOUR INTELIGENTS.

CLINTON POEPLE SAID A WIN IS A WIN……..HARD TO TAKE NOW .

WHICH CANDIDATE WEAS OUT THERE CAMPAIGNING IN GUAM?
THIS WAS MOST LIKLY THE FAIREST RACE SO FAR CUZ THE TWO BIG GUNS WERE IN IN AND NC.

PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THE CAUCUS WORKS WITH VOTES AND COUNTS

shaggy in PA   May 3rd, 2008 8:58 pm ET

Thanks for clarifying that its not 7 votes but 7 precincts. So now I understand why a reporter stated that Obama actually had much more votes than the numbers imply. If a precinct in the caucus states he won could be anywhere from 100 to 10,000 citizens then I finally see what they mean.

CNN is unreal with the Wright stuff. McCain had a little controversy about the female lobbyist and all he had to do was say he would only respond to it once and they let it go. Even on Hardball Matthews said no one is "allowed" to mention Travelgate, Vince Foster's suicide, Monica and so on. When a reporter asked Hillary when was the last time she held a gun, after trying to portay herself as a gun person, she said we won't answer that and they let it go. The media had it right about the Clinton machine. They're manipulating the media and you have to give credit to those old time politics.

Tom in MA   May 3rd, 2008 8:57 pm ET

Since he went to the expense of putting 3 people on the ground in Guam and Hillary had none, I'd say he made a pretty poor showing. I'm sure he also spent more for advertising, so it's hardly a crushing victory. Even in distant Guam he is slipping!

3rd World Elections!   May 3rd, 2008 8:57 pm ET

From Pacificnewscenter.com:

Officials Say Recount Is 'Imminent'
Pacific News Center Staff Reporter 04.MAY.08
9:30 a.m. Guam – The Democrat Party Nominating Committee said officials will look over the large amount of "spoiled ballots" in the coming days.

At issue is the small margin of victory of Senator Barack Obama. He beat his rival, Senator Hillary Clinton by 7 votes, but well over 500 ballots were deemed invalid during the tabulation process.

Herbie Perez, chairman of the nominating committee, said she will not certify the results because the Committee needs to ensure that all the uncounted ballots were properly identified as "spoiled."

She said officials from the Party and representatives from both candidates will meet probably Monday or Tuesday to address that issue.

Perez revealed she is also looking into the missing ballots.

More than 8,100 were printed in response to reports of shortages at precinct sites. But when the final tally came in, only a little over 4,500 ballots were used. – Pacific News Center – Guam, Saipan, CNMI, Asia-Pacific

Mr. Dean should fly down there tonight if he knows what's good for him and the party….

Eric   May 3rd, 2008 8:55 pm ET

The "home town" Obama who supposedly had a huge built in advantage won by just 7 votes…could this mean trouble for him on Tuesday?

Mark, VA   May 3rd, 2008 8:54 pm ET

Wow! Obama was supposed to win this big. Even as far away as Guam Obama is having problems.

NOMORE OBAMA BITTER   May 3rd, 2008 8:54 pm ET

Good for Hillary! Before, Obama always win by almost a landslide when it comes to caucuses.. Truly, Hillary has the momentum. She was able to lessen his lead by a lot and almost….almost won Guam. People are now knowing who Barack Bitter Obama is. Hillary is also
catching up with him in NC. Weeks before, Obama leads by double digits. Now, only single digit. Hillary is now leading Obama in Indiana. Let's just see how bitter Obama is when he loses most the remaining contests. It's not yet late, I'm predicting that if Hillary wins 70% of the remaining contest and if Florida and Michigan votes will be counted, she will now be leading in the popular votes. By then, superdelegates who voted for Obama will now switch to Hillary's camp. This is my prediction. Agree with me or not, the question that superdelegate will ask is: "Who is the most electable between the two?" And everybody knows the answer. The candidate with the less baggage and ability to win come November wins.

Sue   May 3rd, 2008 8:54 pm ET

Hilary was favoured to win this Guam primary dubbed caucaus, and OBAMA came from nowhere to pull out a good win despite CNN's resolve to make Rev Wright's dead news a breaking news item all day!!

Incoming Sniper Fire   May 3rd, 2008 8:51 pm ET

HE WAS NOT PREDICTED TO WIN IN GUAM….THERE WERE OVER 800 BALLOTS THROWN OUT…INTERESTING…I BET THE SLIPPERY CLINTONS TRIED TO STEAL THE ELECTION!!!!!….THERE WAS A LOT OF SUPPORT FOR HIM THERE. HE WON 14 OUT OF 21 DISTRICTS AND OF ALL THE ONES SHE WON, IT WAS BY A VERY THIN MARGIN.

Francis   May 3rd, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Way to go Guam! Attention Indiana, and North Carolina. I hope you will follow suit and do what is right for this country. Guam voted and they selected Barack, you can too. It is so good to see that people are seeing past the negative smoke screen! I keep saying people are so much smarter than the Clintons/media think they are. Barack has a movement of people who are tired of the same old politics and people just saying anything/jumping on bandwagons just to win and giving people false security in the process, i.e. (Clinton/McCain gas tax holiday)…. If Clinton's support of this so called tax break isn't evidence that she will do and say anything to win and get votes…I don't know what is…Even experts in economics agree with Barack that this tax break is not a good idea and thousands would be out of a job……

This is why so many people support Barack because he speaks the truth to people. Clinton can pretend all she wants but you know a tree by the fruit it bears…

Obama 2008

From Pacificnewscenter.com

Guam Election Commission Will Take A Back Seat to Democrats At This Saturday's Caucus

"with the honor system being utilized during the caucus, it's conceivable that a non-US citizen could slip through the cracks and wind up voting in the party's delegate election. However, it is unlikely, given that non-US citizens may be less likely to take a personal interest in an American contest so arcane to non-US citizens. "

Hmmm, was that wise?

Rachel   May 3rd, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Wow. GUAM. 4 delegates. 7 point win. Good job, Barry. Looks like you've got it all wrapped up, now!

Meg   May 3rd, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Hey CNN, you need to fix your delegate counter game. You gave each candidate 2 each for Guam, but you forgot to remove Guam from the list of "states" whose numbers you can play with.

Did anyone notice the story about Hillary backing Eight Belles for the Kentucky Derby? She was the only filly and came in second.

ba   May 3rd, 2008 8:46 pm ET

to sharon:

obama was never projected to win big in guam. even winning by FIFTY percent would have netted him only TWO more pledged delegates. this was simply never the expectation. you are continuing the clinton machine's tactics of baseless smears and spin, spin, spinning until you puke. you are welcome to support any candidate, but if you cannot draw that support from FACTS, rather than the lies you spout in your post, then maybe you chose the wrong one.

juang   May 3rd, 2008 8:42 pm ET

Guam is Obama territory. How in the world does she get almost half the votes? Those people don't like her or her sleezy husband.

Something is fishy.

HE WAS SUPPOSED TO WIN GUAM WITH EASE !!
WHAT HAPPENED!!
DO THEY HAVE TV IN GUAM MAYBE SOME OF THEM DO AND HAVE SEEN THE REV WRIGHT SENERIO.

FOX NEWS PUT IT BEST THEY SAID THAT IF THE REV WRIGHT STORY WOULD HAVE BROKE BEFORE SUPER TUESDAY OBAMA WOULDN'T EVEN BE HERE NOW.

GOING ON THE BLOGS AFTER REV WRIGHT, SO MANY PEOPLE IN
OTHER STATES THAT HAVE ALREADY HAD THEIR PRIMARIES HAVE BEEN SAYING THEY WISH THEY WOULDN'T HAVE VOTED FOR OBAMA, SEVERAL EVEN SAID SORRY AMERICA I VOTED FOR OBAMA IN MY STATE!

PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SMART ENOUGH TO SEE THE OBVIOUS, OBAMA HAS AN ADD OUT STATING EXPERIENCE IS WHAT SUNK THE TITANIC, ADMITTING HE HAS NONE , IS THIS OBAMA TAKING FOR GRANTED THAT WE ARE ALL THAT STUPID THAT WE NOW THINK EXPERIENCE IS BAD???? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF THE MILLIONS OF COMPARISONS YOU COULD MAKE SHOWING IF YOU HAVE A LACK OF EXPERIENCE IT WOULD BE DISASTEROUS? LIKE SKY DIVING, OR SCUBA DIVING OR RACE CAR DRIVING OR WINDOW CLEANIND UP 50 FLOORS IN THE AIR, THERE IS MANY THINGS IN EVERYDAY LIFE YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE FOR BUT i GUESS RUNNING AMERICA IS A CAKE WALK, NO NEED FOR EXPERIENCE. NEXT TIME MY 12 YEAR OLD KID WANTS TO DRIVE THE CAR I'LL SAY SURE HERES THE KEYS!

POLL: FORGET GUAM, MOST AMERICANS BELIEVE OBAMA IS LYING ABOUT REV. WRIGHT

58% of Americans believe he denounced Wright solely for political convenience, not from real outrage.

56% of Americans believe he shares Wright's views.

These are devastating numbers. Obama is clearly unelectable. Voters and superdelegates, take note.

DEBBIE   May 3rd, 2008 8:35 pm ET

You know what I DON"T BELIEVE IT! CNN you showed Obama winning GUAM at 95% REPORTING WINNING BY 6 OR 7% AND THEN IT WENT OFF THE SCREEN FOR OVER 2 HOURS AND CAME BACK WITH 100% REPORTING 50%-50% WINNING BY 7 POINTS – I'M SORRY – I DON'T BELIEVE THAT! SOMEBODY CALLED GUAM AND HAD TO CHEAT!

Charlotte   May 3rd, 2008 8:33 pm ET

This is just going to cause the delegates to ponder why he only won by 7 votes when he should have won by double digits? They have to know Rev. Wright will play into the general election big time. No more caucuses, little private box where you won't be labled a racist if you don't like Obama. I'm sure the Obamas will say he lost because he was black. He will lose because he sat around listening to anti-american sermons for 20 years and then lied about even hearing them. Threw his grandmother under the bus, then threw Uncle Wright under the bus when it became politically necessary. Missed 40% of the US Senate votes including the one about Iran. Never held a meeting on Afghanastan in over 15 months of being the chairman of the committee on Al qaeda in Afghanastan. A real go getter this Obama. I can see the great changes he would make..NOT

NC for Obama   May 3rd, 2008 8:33 pm ET

Go Obama !!

Raleigh, NC – Another victory, another step closer to the white house. Even with the media all day still trying to keep the Wright issue alive, you are proving that you have what it takes to weather the storms. Clinton has not had any attacks on her for several weeks now, but yet you still pulled out a victory. The media does not want this to end and trust me they will keep these distractions alive in order to keep their ratings up. And get this, they even displayed her win results in PA for the last part of the election broadcast. PA is over, what's up with that? Hello, CNN, were on Guam now, ok?

Don't worry, my whole family in NC is rooting for you and marching to the polls to vote for you on Tuesday!!

Obama 08′

STOP THE MADDNESS!!!!   May 3rd, 2008 8:31 pm ET

The Clintons are a house hold name the fact that a unknown if you will can come in this race a not only compete with them, but is ahead of them to a margin that they can not win without the help of the SD practically giving the nomination to them upon them having to discredit this formidable candidate, Obama and the entire Democratic Party speaks volumes, not only does it question their reputation as past sitting president and first lady, but it also brings to question among other things their personal reputations.

So the fact that Obama only won this area by 7 votes does not matter, but the fact that he has not only won this one should not be minimized because one would not expect him to win any, but not only has he done so he has won almost twice as many as the Clintons and that says more than anything.

He sure surprised the Clintons they thought it would be a cake walk!!

Trang, Fremont, CA   May 3rd, 2008 8:30 pm ET

Congratulations, Senator Obama. Add one more state to your column. Thank you Guam.

3rd World Elections!   May 3rd, 2008 8:30 pm ET

7 votes goes one way vs the other, out of thousands cast.

CNN Politics on Guam::Voters cast secret ballots in polling places as opposed to publicly aligning themselves in presidential candidate preference groups, as in more traditional caucuses, such as in Iowa and Nevada.

Were any votes lost? Not recorded? If recorded for another, like an elderly, recorded accurately? All absentee ballets in and accounted for? Any improper voting in the mix?

This sounds like a Third World Election result.

Hmmmm…..Where is the DNC tonight?

TMR   May 3rd, 2008 8:29 pm ET

Winning by 7 votes does not count. People, think about Obama's ideology! He has been in the Church which preaches Liberation Theology. This theology has a direct link to the communists' philosopy of Karl Marx! Do you know what this is? Read about Soviet history.
Please, vote for anyone else, but not Obama!

jsg   May 3rd, 2008 8:27 pm ET

Senator Obama, you take too long to respond. You should have dumped Rev Wright a long time ago. Of course, you did not knlw that you would one day be running for President, but you did know that "learning" the black experience, with which you were not totally familiar considering your background, would have to end – some day. Guess when! Rev Wright, a small potato in this soup simply cannot be equated with a female figure who brought down a presidency who is now struggling to get his wife back into his old spot, while you, a decent, forthright, honest person, the best to come along, the pride in you and your campaign is astounding and here you are being brought to your knees by a dime store reverend. Because that is what he has turned nimself into. I hope it is not too late. People want big mouth, nasty, vindictive, Hillary and her husband rather than you. Are most people like her? No, But they know that she represents them and will fight like a caged beast. C'mon,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,get with it. Stop struggling over words, say them, spit them ouit!!! WIN in Indiana and N Carolina. Seven votes in Guam, for heaven's sake……we won't make it this way.

Go away, Cameron Brown, Kitty Pilgrim – such two faced types. Also Dobbs, what a clown. Pretending to care.

Dylan John   May 3rd, 2008 8:26 pm ET

Uhh… what exactly makes you think he was supposed to "win big" here? Simply because he grew up on an island (a completely different island), it did not give him any particular edge in Guam. This primary was entirely fair game. It even mentions a lot of old folks made up the elctorate, which should have favored Hillary.

This is another Clinton attempt to increase expectations and downplay their loss.

NC for OBAMA   May 3rd, 2008 8:26 pm ET

CNN is baised….We all have come to that conclusion….They will do anything to keep this mess going. A win is a win. Hillary visited Guam when she was first lady. THe Clinton brand is known everywhere….

Guam is over 2000 miles from any Haiwaii….And CNN didnt predict he should win until 50 % of the precincts had reported.I haved watched CNN all day today. And it seems the better Obama does, the more CNN focuses on Rev Wright, or a narrow win…etc.

The polls are NOT close in NC….I nor anyone I know have received one call from any Pollsters LOL. So I don't believe the polls……his rally had 10 of thousands of people here in CHarlotte the other night. Many who could not get in….

ALSO why we not talking about when HILLARY got BOOED in Raleigh. ???????AT the Jefferson Center???? GOOGLE Hillary booed Jefferson…

Why are all the Clinton supporters claiming Obama was predicted to win big in Guam? I haven't seen one poll coming from Guam or any reason to think Obama would have a tactical advantage.

I'm glad this ends Hillary's winning streak of one.

What ever happened to the Peter Paul vs Clinton trial?

Trev   May 3rd, 2008 8:24 pm ET

Since Obama fans are spinning the result, here is some HIllary spin. Normally, Obama wins caucuses by 20-30%. This time he won by 7 votes. The bottom is falling out.

GET WRIGHT OFF YOUR FRONT POLITICS PAGE CNN!!

Have you no shame – there was a primary all day in Guam between Obama and Clinton…

CNN has produced loving stories about Clinton all day – not once saying how every single expert has said the gas tax holiday is a total sham.

And the only time you bring up Obama you keep insinuating this is going to hurt him in the general election!!!!

Between Bill, Hillary, Wright, ABC's PA stunt, I'm suprised he pulled out as good as he did.

Just be journalists instead of sensationalists for a change.

This is why I hate caucus. Guam has 175000 inhabitants. But less than 5000 people participated in this caucus. There is no doubt Hillary would have creamed Obama here if this was a primary.
Obama has been the clear favorite in Guam. People were predicting a win like the one he had in Hawaii.
Obama is finish. Go Hillary…. I bet Cafferty is maaaaad.

Obama supporters are so blind and don't realize that he was predicted to win big in Guam, this is not good for him, 7 votes is merely nothing… let's see how Indiana and North Carolina vote. He also had a 20+ percent lead on her, which is now about 6… people are truly starting to question his experience and his ability to lead this country.

She is also looking into missing ballots. In total, over 8,100 were printed in response to reports of shortages at precinct sites. But when the final vote count was given, only a little over 4.500 ballots were used.

Ann Marie   May 3rd, 2008 8:14 pm ET

I haven't seen any polls showing that Obama was favored to win in Guam. Did they do a poll? I think Hillary was favored to win, seeing as she's visited Guam as First Lady. Obama has never even been to Guam. Victory!

Obama '08

Robert Grunwell   May 3rd, 2008 8:13 pm ET

A win is a win…. heck !!

What do you mean by just 7 votes.

Its a shame that CNN does not understand the way the Democrats report their caucuses. They are reported in electoral votes and not regular votes. So you've got to understand that the 7 electoral votes will translate into at least 200 or more regular votes.

As at today, no one knows how many people voted for Obama in Iowa

CNN, educate your audience

Obama'08

Oh my lord   May 3rd, 2008 8:13 pm ET

hahahahahah

He only won by 7 votes lol?????????????????

I think its a victory for Hillary in reality, this is a caucus where he should have done better, second its near his home state of Hawaai, third he only won by 7 votes lol hahahahah

I cant stop laughing

Go Hillary!

Charlotte   May 3rd, 2008 8:12 pm ET

They must have tv's in Guam and have seen the truth, at least half of them, This victory should give the superdelegate more to ponder. Obama was suppose to win Guam by double digits? Not a good win for Obama but it is a win none the less..

Michael   May 3rd, 2008 8:10 pm ET

Sharon,

I suggest you do more homework. It was clearly explained that the caucus in Guam was not an actual caucus as we know them, but a primary ELECTION as we know them. Otherwise, it would not have taken the better part of a day to do a count of the votes.

That said, that was an election that Obama won — that's the first thing. Secondly, you Hillary supporters need to face reality. Try as she might, but remember it was already said (looooong ago) that she would have to win 70% of the remaining elections (of which only 8 are left now) for her to even come close in delegates and popular votes.

Lastly, and most importantly, there are yet undisclosed skeletons in Clinton's closet that, whether or not CNN or any other network chooses not to publicize at this time, the Republicans will ENSURE it's front-page news everywhere else (so CNN will be behind the 8-ball). The majority of the Superdelegates already know that and are only waiting for ONE (1) win from Obama to continue moving in his direction. Thank God Tuesday is just around the corner! Oh Yes!! :-)

Anonymous   May 3rd, 2008 8:09 pm ET

According to CNN, the results should be following:

Guam Clinton 50% and Obama 50%: Clinton ties Obama.

Pennsylvania Clinton 55% and Obama 45%: Clinton wins by double-digit.

Any comments on the math by the media?

Scot C.   May 3rd, 2008 8:09 pm ET

Seven votes is seven votes that won the caucus in Guam.

To Sharon: What exactly is wrong with you? By the way, there's no evidence that Obama doctored the War Room video. Obama doesn't have to be worried at all about that. Are you sure you're a Democrat or a Republican pretending to be a Democrat? In either case, since you are a Hillary supporter, I think that you and your candidate are really getting desperate.

The racist comment about being an Oreo is un-American and un-Patriotic. Jealous are you? Sounds like it. SERIOUSLY, GET A LIFE.

Choate   May 3rd, 2008 8:08 pm ET

I dont think anyone understand how caucuses work. 7 votes means he won 7 more precints than Clinton. That could me by 10 total votes or 10,000 total votes. Same with all the other caucuses that have been held. That's why the popular vote count means nothing in the primaries.

john   May 3rd, 2008 8:08 pm ET

Obama was supposed to win by double digits. He one by .01…Pathetic!

Hillary also has a super from guam… and its evenly split on pledged

GO HILLARY

Michael Sanchez   May 3rd, 2008 8:07 pm ET

Obama was expected to win Guam by double digits before the latest Wright controversy. A 7 vote "win" is really a HUGE loss from a momentum perspective. OBAMA WAS WRONG ABOUT WRIGHT. Now his close ties to his racist and anti-American minister as well as criminals like Tony Rezko and Bill Ayers demonstrate poor judgment – at best.

I personally like Barack Obama but he CANNOT win in November. Hillary can. The Republicans attack machine will exploit Obama's self-inflicted wounds until he is destroyed. It's time to do what's best for the Democratic Party by uniting behind Hillary Clinton.

C'mon John Edwards…LEAD!

BRiley   May 3rd, 2008 8:06 pm ET

Wow…go Obama! Guess the island of Guam doesn't truly know him yet. Maybe they don't get any coverage on Obama over the TV. He's a FAKE!! Mark my words!! You"ll all soon find out once the Republicans get a swing at him. Hillary is too nice to point out all of his shortcomings, but the Republicans could care less.

Kate from Vancouver   May 3rd, 2008 8:06 pm ET

Why isn't CNN reporting the actual percentage breakdown in Guam instead of rounding off to 50% each? This is another of hundreds of examples of CNN's bias toward Hilary. Your news, your site and your editorials all show favouritism for Hlary. could it be only to continue the drama? Are you not interested in what's best for your country???

I'm no longer going to CNN for information because I don't TRUST you.

Josh in MA   May 3rd, 2008 8:05 pm ET

Why is the media ignoring Paul v Clinton?

Also, though I'm an Obama supporter, news from Guam indicates the votes will NOT be confirmed until there is an investigation into the 500 so called "spoiled" ballots. So after those are looked into we may have a different result, especially when only 7 votes separate the two.

HillarySkank on myspace   May 3rd, 2008 8:05 pm ET

Hillary, you lost Guam. You need to pack up your depends and go home. And no, you cannot be a space cadet.

wakethehellup!!!!!   May 3rd, 2008 8:05 pm ET

Bridgette – PA, if there was something to report I am sure it would have been done by now. You people really need to let it go.

kalliope   May 3rd, 2008 8:05 pm ET

CNN, I was wondering why you chose to stoop to having Rev. Wright on the headline of your political page when we are involved in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, our economy is sinking, and we are laughed at as a nation across the world… but after reading the comments on this blog entry, I see you are playing to your audience.

Lynette   May 3rd, 2008 8:05 pm ET

A Win IS A Win IS A WIN!!!
Yea!!!!!!
GO OBAMA!
Woo Hoo! !!

AKRON, OHIO OBOMA SUPPORTER   May 3rd, 2008 8:05 pm ET

I don't think cnn want to explot hillary. But if it was OBOMA you can bet it would be all over the cable channels

GO OBOMA

Dwayne Oake   May 3rd, 2008 8:04 pm ET

I love my American neighbours but CNN leaving Jerimiah Wright up all day to stir the pot is outrageous. Had Hillary won Guam that would not be the dominating headling. But as her camp says if you win by a vote a win is a win……You are totally biased against the news coverage which is perhaps why the good people of America have lost so much respect for the US. Its not americans its the media bias. What other country could you find media obsession such as was the case with the OJ Simpson trial. Answer – Nowhere!!!!! If Barack does not get elected you will forfeit you opportunity to finally bring together your foreign counterparts. Truly so biased…. You would neve see that here. Tell it like it is. Is Hillary paying you with her debt!!!!!!

Canadian for OBAMA!!!!!

v.ananthan   May 3rd, 2008 8:04 pm ET

Obama had always much more money than Hillary and in that way he could campaign more and win smaller states than Hillary…

IF SHE HAD THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY LIKE OBAMA
HAD SHE WOULD HAVE WON THE SMALLER STATES ALSO.

HILLARY LEADER WITH SOLUTIONS, FOR BOTH BIG STATES AND SMALL STATES

Jan E   May 3rd, 2008 8:04 pm ET

From one end of the earth to the other, democrats are split between the two candidates .. It is really high time to end this stupid race, it has gotten ridiculous. Superdelegates .. it is time to end it now.

Tired of your retoric   May 3rd, 2008 8:04 pm ET

Any one seen Hillary on the cover of the New Republican magazine, she looks like that guy from Germany during world war 2 and she's got the same look, Hmmmmmm wasnt he a dictator who tried forcing his style down everyones throat like she does.

Tyler, NJ   May 3rd, 2008 8:04 pm ET

Great Job Hillary!
Good Showing Obama.

7 votes. 7 people made a difference.

Democracy at its best.

marcia   May 3rd, 2008 8:04 pm ET

CNN should play all negative comments, example Haggee about catholics,as many times as they have spent on Wright. You demonstrated your ability to see life from your elitists position of power and your ability to suppress and expose whats good for you.

MC, PA   May 3rd, 2008 8:04 pm ET

Operation "Chaos" failed.

Y   May 3rd, 2008 8:03 pm ET

There are over 17,000 white Americans on the island of Guam, the majority of them living in Dededo. Obama held his ground and came out the winner despite the unfair negative press. Thank God that at least half of America has some intelligence left. Obama has won 15 primaries and 16 caucuses. Hillary has won 15 primaries and one caucus. Obama has been doing well in both primaries and caucuses.

Obama 08

Michael   May 3rd, 2008 8:03 pm ET

I love it Obama wins in Guam and All CNN can post all day is how Wright affects the campaign…It's a dead horse lets focus on the issues! Pathetic really trying to taint the race so you can continue to get more headlines, it really is a sad state of affairs. It really is now wonder people get sick of politics, politicians and the news that covers them. Congratulations Obama, hopefully Indiana follows suit and North Carolina will stay in his column. Maybe just maybe we can end this race and get ready for McCain in November.

Okay off to endless moderation or deletion, just like all my other comments.

Venus   May 3rd, 2008 8:03 pm ET

Thank you Guam! I waited all day for this one because it was close!

I'm glad Obama won even if by only 7 votes! Had this been the other way with Hillary – CNN and the other news-media —this story would be major head-lines!

OK. – sooooooooooo! For you Hillary supporters – Obama has won TWICE as many states as Hillary and you can lie and say that she can beat Mc Cain and the so-call big states! If she can't beat Obama how can she beat Mc Cain!

This is great news for Obama! Hey CNN – how come you have not included any news about Obama's endorsements for today?

Also – regarding Ohio and Penn that Hillary won—
Check this out—- Hillary won Ohio by 10% and Penn by 9.2% – so this means the Pastor-Gate and Bitter-Gate didn't have an impact on Obama considering Hillary had a 33+ lead!

Yes we can and yes we will…

kingsley   May 3rd, 2008 8:02 pm ET

cnn trying to down play the win.

rick sanchez and lou dubs all racist

ChicoSez   May 3rd, 2008 8:02 pm ET

How does Guam rate 4 regular and 4 super delegates with less than 5000 people voting in the primary. Something is wrong here. This is not proportional representation at the national convention. Shouldn't California get 1000+ delegates for their millions of votes? Can someone explain this?

CNN is a Clinton lacky   May 3rd, 2008 8:01 pm ET

CNN seems upset that Obama won, how disturbing is that!!!

Instead of putting his picture on the first page, they put rev. Wright, and then they put a picture that centers on a Hillary poster that is way bigger than the Obama poster in the back. I'm not big on conspiracies, but if this doesn't tell you that CNN wants Hillary to win some support so that the race can go on longer and help their ratings, then I don't know what does.

Get a life CNN!

Eric   May 3rd, 2008 8:00 pm ET

This may not make a difference in delegates, but Hillary's huge, monstrous 1 contest winning streak has officially been snapped. BE SMART, NC AND IN!

Obama '08

K   May 3rd, 2008 8:00 pm ET

Obama was predicted to win big in Guam. Guess this proves his rock star appeal is down the toilet. America has woken up from the infatution and finally wants real solutions. I give Obama a fair chance but all he does is whine about attacks, attack other people's plans without giving any plan of his own, and say the same thing over and over about old politics while he deploys the same tactics behind the scenes. At least Hillary is trying to propose some type of immediate relief along with long term solutions that he has also copied. If you think Americans will drive more just b/c the gas tax is taken away, then you obviously think Americans are stupid and you should not be leading this country.

judy parrish   May 3rd, 2008 8:00 pm ET

just seven votes, you go Ms. Clinton, who could ever deny that indeed this is a victory for you as well. Keep on keeping on victory and the White House is most defintely in sight.
We love you in North Carolina

hoang, UC Berkeley   May 3rd, 2008 7:59 pm ET

It's a caucus, and Guam has similar demographics with Hawaii.
THIS IS ALREADY A WIN FOR HILLARY.
SHE'S A FIGHTER.
AND SHE FOUGHT HARD.
Give her the credit.
Comparing Guam's caucus with Hawii, this shows a big sign that the tide has turned for her.
AND COME ON, SHE WON THE BIGGEST VILLAGE!!!!!
WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT HER ABILITY TO WIN IN THE GENERAL ELECTION?
Post this, CNN!!!

Paul Vs Clinton? Inquiring minds want to know.

This means 3 superdelegates for Obama and NONE to Clinton. Pledged 2-2, total 5-2 to Obama…. The superdelegate lead for Clinton is shrinking each day now, it is under 15….

Fishers IN   May 3rd, 2008 7:51 pm ET

Obama wins Guam by seven votes. He should have won big but people are getting wise to his schemes.

This is a very sad win as Obama spent the money and was the only candidate that had an office and staff on Guam.

He won by only seven votes. People are beginning to realize that he is an elitist and a fade.

Here is the address of his Guam office from his website:Hagåtña Office
101 Chalan Santo Papa, Ste. 102
Hagåtña, GU 96910
