Polls: Race tightening in North Carolina

A new CNN 'Poll of Polls' shows Obama gaining in North Carolina.
A new CNN 'Poll of Polls' shows Obama gaining in North Carolina.

(CNN) - It appears the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination is tightening up in North Carolina.

A new CNN poll of polls released Sunday suggests Senator Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has the support of 50 percent of likely Democratic primary voters in North Carolina, with 42 percent backing Senator Hillary Clinton, D-New York, and 8 percent still undecided.

This eight point Obama margin is down from a nine point lead Obama held in Saturday’s CNN poll of polls and down from his recent double digit lead in the state.

187 delegates are up for grabs when North Carolina and Indiana hold primaries on Tuesday.
The CNN poll of polls is an average of the latest surveys in the state.

Zogby has him at 9 yesterday and today. You guys are bad at analysis grasping at anything for a headline.

Also Zogby has Obama over Clinton in Indiana now by 3.

This is it, make no mistake where we are.

Nice of CNN to leave rev. Wright's pic as the lead story all weekend. Another example of the media making the decsion of who will be elected!

What is the percentage of UNDECIDEDS????

If it is 8%...then NC might become a tie, like Guam....there are 500 spoiled ballots in the largest village of Guam...so Clinton could wind up winning in the recount!

CNN, I'm not sure what the point of this story is. Really, can you tell me? Obama will win NC by double digits and I mean real double digits not 9.3...lol...He may also win IN....now if he wins both, will the media finally admit to the American electorate that CLINTON HAS ALREADY LOST????

Shame on you CNN. No matter what you do, Hillary will not get the nomination at this point. The superdelegates know better that giving Hillary the nomination will destroy the party for a long time.

Let Barak win or lose like others. By the way, you and your media friends report about Barak losing the votes of those uneducated blue colar people. Is Hillary winning the African American and young votes?

I think the words under the picture should say " A new CNN Poll of Polls shows Clinton gaining in North Carolina" since Obama's lead is down from 9 to 8 percent.

Why do you guys (CNN) keep doing this with the polls? We know that Obama is going to win in NC, but saying that Hillary might have a chance when she doesn't makes no since at all. I wonder why Obama didn't get the same press in PA?

That's amazing. Considering how Obama is outspending Clinton by huge amounts of money. Also considering how over 90% of African Americans seem to be voting principally on skin color and not on experience or issues. Given those factors, Obama needs a huge double digit victory in NC otherwise it's a big loss for Obama.

CNN- How come you are not talking about Cazayoux win in LA?....Remember he was the one that Rep. said would be defeated b/c of his ties to Obama. Once again the voters have spoken!!!! And the Dem. take a seat that was held by Rep. for nearly 30 years

Obama did an excellent job on Meet the Press this morning. He was relaxed and very presidential....

Clinton is not winning, Jeremiah Wright just founded a new party. Obama is battling several fronts simultaneously, and McCain will probably win the whole thing.

  25. pee-d-feet cause somthing stinks

CNN ....WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF THE RACE IS TIGHTENING, OBAMA IS GOING TO WIN!!!

This race has become more about marketing and advertisement for your (CNN) pockets. So, keeping this race in the news benefits YOU!! The American people (Dems) are being fooled due to mis-direction of topic.

President Obama, keep hitting your 'FREE THROWS!' She's going to keep fouling and CNN has swallowed their whistle.
