Polls: Race tightening in North Carolina

A new CNN 'Poll of Polls' shows Obama gaining in North Carolina.
A new CNN 'Poll of Polls' shows Obama gaining in North Carolina.

(CNN) - It appears the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination is tightening up in North Carolina.

A new CNN poll of polls released Sunday suggests Senator Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has the support of 50 percent of likely Democratic primary voters in North Carolina, with 42 percent backing Senator Hillary Clinton, D-New York, and 8 percent still undecided.

This eight point Obama margin is down from a nine point lead Obama held in Saturday’s CNN poll of polls and down from his recent double digit lead in the state.

187 delegates are up for grabs when North Carolina and Indiana hold primaries on Tuesday.
The CNN poll of polls is an average of the latest surveys in the state.

hillary of can there be any doubt...if it is about the economy then for sure we know she will fix it...the clinton era was filled with news of scandals because we had nothing else to worry about...give us back a time when all we have to worry about was whose skirt bill is lifting...

What the media doesnt publicize, is that ALOT of North Carolinians have already casted their ballot. With that said, I think Obama will run away with North Carolina. Also, why isn't CNN publicizing the fact that Obama just took a small lead in Indiana. I'm beginning to believe that CNN stands for CLINTON NEWS NETWORK!

I think the saddest issue here is that we are willing to accept the division, hate, lies, and stuff as such as real from someone who is running for the highest office in our country.

how can Hillary see to the reporter's eyes and say the bosnia lie, not just once, but at least three times?

how can she justify the dirty tactics? I thought she was from the democratic party?

the real issue here is that the republicans have figure out, that to win something that even the universe is against, _ is to help Hillary now via Rush Limbaugh who has carte blanche to be hateful, and gets away with it to send his troops to vote everywhere for her now adn against her in November.

the GOP, Limbaguh and luckely for him McCain ,and specially Hillary and Bill, have it figure it out, that if they all together knock down Senator Obama by showing clips of terrorists, by sending the message of fear (which by the way is no way different from Bush in the last 8 years) then, the republicans take over so easily that they dont even thave to spend much money or talking convencing people because Hillary has done it.

So really who is the strongest candidate when you truly look at it here:

Senator Obama, he is fighting the establishment of 200 years of politics in this coutry, the biggest political machine in the US (the clintons) and the Republican nominee McCain, the GOP, the far right...
I bet anything soon they will all attack him _
not only has HIllary joined them in the gas issue but soon she will again use smear tactics, all from the Rove book.............

is this what we want again? 4 more years of a woman who is worse than any politician man, and a woman who calls herself democrat yet her actions are louder than what the republicans are actually doing and saying in this campaing? the worst of all, she is such a good liar, and she can see you right in the eyes and tell you a BIG lie and laugh at you and at the lie, and still say I will win.

think about it, think twice, _ chances come once in a life time........... I hope you think of your children and what you want them to inherit..

Not so fast, CNN. The four most recent polls out: Rasmussen: Obama up 9%; Zogby: Obama up 9%; ARG: Obama up 11%; and Research 2000: Obama up 7% (and the Research 2000 poll is the oldest of the polls). That puts the poll of polls average at 9% still. Almost all of these are underestimating the black vote in NC. The black vote makes up about 34% of the Democratic voters, but, in early voting, blacks are voting in record numbers AND represented about 39% of the early voting. I could be wrong, but I think Obama wins in low double digits.

With truck drivers spending less on fuel she hope it would encourage prices to globally go down or even a little.

With any plan to be successful we need a partnership with all of america. We have to be a team, with each of us slowly working together. We need short term and long term programs to fix these gas prices. Hillary is trying to show us we have options and only if we as a society work together can we overcome this.

I don't know about the rest of the state, but here in Charlotte it is all about Obama. I am very proud to be voting in the state that is efectively going to seal the deal on getting him the nomination. I have already voted for him in the early voting and my wife will be voting for him on Tuesday.

It is very clear that CNN is supporting Clinton over Obama given the continuous emphasis on negative headlines against Obama or retention of these beyond shelf life. Why?

THose of you wanting to know more about Hillary's accomplishments, one lately includes the Marine One helicopter to a foreign company.

Some jobs will be in NY.

$10,000 went to Hillary while $20,000 went to Bill.

Oh, never mind her recent concern about transferring intelligence to foreign entities like Bill did with Magnetech in Indiana.

Bill approved that one, Hillary arranged the latest one.

As for "Sue," above, I guess we need to root out all those Muslims and Muslim related people in the military with top secret clearances now too (Sue, you are so un-American!).

Obama's trure color is starting to be exposed as he slips in the polls. He is just another politiican who will say anything to get elected, whether it is to Canada with respect to NAFTA or his pretending to distance himself from the militant Rev. Wright.

Jon: You are what's wrong with Barry Obama, his supporters and the ultra-left wing of the Democrats. Just because people want to drink beer, shoot guns and go to church, doesn't mean they are "uneducated" or lacking the right to be represented by a strong leader. The sneering, demeaning elitism of Obama and his sycophants is what will make a lot of blue dogs stay away in Nov, or cast a vote for McCain to keep such hugh and mighty academics away from the levers of power.

  21. losing our support

Democrats are the victims of their own success in registering so many new voters.

People who have never voted before (too lazy, too apathetic, too selfish) do not know the rules, don't understand the process and have ho respect for the sanctity of the right to vote.

All the Obama bloggers continually come from a position of hate, and post misinformation= propagnda, and reveal a lack of understanding of the voting process.

Demands, lies, money, dirty politics and threats will not install Obama. All you are doing is alienating the very voters you will need in Nov if you hope for a democratic victory.

  24. Paula from Canada PLEASE Post

Being from Canada where our dollar is almost at Par with the U.S. we are paying $5.00 a gallon out West here in Alberta where oil flows like water..well it did til Haliburton and Cheney came up and bought a ton of oil drilling rights from our Bush twin Ralph Klein.
My point is, Hillary and McCain can say all they want about this Gas Tax Holiday.. it is CONGRESS who will decide NOT Clinton, Not McCain or Obama for that matter. She is spewing forth a bunch of crap to win votes and Obama is right. it will not work
Read Time magazine about her best friend ICKES what a hateful piece of work he is!!! My gosh he makes Wright look like a saint. Time has a article all about this awful creature how this foul mouth , rude, ignorant man can sway Super Delegates is beyond me.. yikes! He LOVES Hillary and she pays him HUGE dollars to work for her.

Hillary Clinton is in this race for one thing HILLARY not you, not the people in New Orleans or everyday people.. for HER.
The reason she has so much power is she has lobbied, pork barrelled and done back room deals for 30 years.. yup as far as dirty politics goes she does out weigh Obama.. by a million tons of dirty deals.
Hillary Clinton is a power hungry woman and will say anything to get elected. For Canada's sake I hope with all my heart Obama will be the next president.
It would be nice to have a neighbour who voted in a man with courage, goodness and a brain!! What were you all thinking in 2004?? Still has us baffled up here.
Our troops are in Afhganistan along side your troops, therefore we also get an opinion.

    Go Obama and Peace Out!
