(CNN) — As Barack Obama seems to be struggling with ‘bitter’ baggage, a ‘trust gap’ continues to dog Hillary Clinton – in Indiana, just 54 percent of Democratic primary voters said she was “honest and trustworthy” in early exit polls; 66 percent said Obama could be trusted. In North Carolina, just 47 percent of Democratic primary voters said Clinton was trustworthy, compared to 70 percent for Obama.

liar, liar, pants on fire   May 6th, 2008 8:19 pm ET

Hellllllloooooo!!!!! White people don't see her lies as lies. Blacks have always had to deal with whites having "their own truth". Hillary is no different.. She reflects a lot of white, not all.

karen from va   May 6th, 2008 8:17 pm ET

So they don't trust her but she wins? I don't get it.

Crys, Philadelphia   May 6th, 2008 8:17 pm ET

I think we need to stop focusing on the Wright issue. Who can censor another's beliefs? Obama has no control over what anyone says….can you say THE MEDIA! Honesty is rare commodity in general, politics aside! For those who claim to hate Obama, that is a strong word! Examine why you say think that? I may not like Hillary or believe in what she's saying, but I have a vote and I can use that right to express my beliefs! LET YOUR VOTE SPEAK FOR YOU!!!!!!

I am not a Democrat or Republican and I can't believe how people are so gullible. I think Obama is a very good orator…but he got no game. He can't answer a specific question and don't have any specific policy plans. He seems to just wonder off on tangents or sidesteps alltogether He does say "change" about twenty times a minute in his speeches but never says anything concrete. I mean, Good God people where are your minds!
I have CNN on in the background and they have spoken Barak's name no less than 25 times in a couple of minutes, and Clinton's only 4 and always with downward inflection. Wouldn't be any bias going on there eh? They also have been comparing the black vote (90 something %) and white vote (40 something %)for Obama. About the only thing I see about that is that more blacks have racist tendencies than whites I guess. I honestly don't know who I will vote for in Nov. I think we have pretty weak choices this time. Maybe the Libertarians can put someone out there for another choice besides Clinton,Obama,McCain or Nader. Of course one Democrat won't be there, probably my choice between the two. If CNN and the other major media machines put Obama into the race in Nov, I just can't see myself voting for a one term Senator with a weak voting record. Between the two Democrats, I'm afraid I would have to bow to the Lady on this one.

OregonEye   May 6th, 2008 8:14 pm ET

Obama will pick up a huge majority of the delegates today. Even if he loses Indiana, he will still get pretty much an even split in delegates from that state. In NC, expect a landslide of delegates, even if he wins by 8-10%. Clinton will be even deeper in the hole with the delegate count and now the superdelegates will start throwing there support to Obama.
Time for Hillary to throw in the towel, and do right by the Democratic Party, drop out of the race, and support Obama as our next Democratic nominee.

That comment was long over due in this blog!!!!!Let's end this and move on to Nov!

Smith   May 6th, 2008 8:13 pm ET

I agree.. that Clinton is still running

is a total complete fabricated MEDIA FUNFEST… for MORONS!

Cry For Our Country   May 6th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

Of course Hillary Clinton is facing a trust gap. Look at how her husband conducted himself during his terms in office. I mean, come on - trying to redefine the word "is"?

I hope people wake up and pay attention. Hillary will be almost as bad as George Bush in many ways. She sure seems to me to be far more interested in her own benefit than the country's. She only gives platitudes and tells people what they want to hear only she calls it "finding her voice".

This country is in trouble - big trouble. It needs someone who is going to do the best things for the Nation and for its people without being swayed by special interests. That is not Hillary Clinton. I don't even know if it is Barack Obama. But it certainly isn't John McCain since he seems to think 100 years in Iraq is acceptable.

We need decisive and uninfluenced action on Iraq, energy, the economy, education, and a host of other issues. Bill and Hillary - and anyone who thinks Bill won't be an active part of this dynasty is very mistaken - cannot make the kinds of decisions that need to be made because they are to beholding to their financiers.

We as a nation are in deep trouble and we need a new approach to get us out. If George Bush hasn't already buried us, it will only be by extreme luck and hard work that we can pull this one out.

Boston Guy   May 6th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

Actually, I don't trust Obama.

Robert Vandiver   May 6th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Each Democratic candidate has pledged to support the other, the winner in November. When Ms. Clinton plays the "electability" card, is she saying that she will be powerless or unwilling to bring her supporters over to Senator Obama? Surely a sincere effort on her part would produce a dramatic win for the Democrats in the general election.

Get real. Its not a problem when we are 2 year olds at the park but this is a woman who wants to represent our entire country. How can you be OK with her continuing to lie? Lie after lie. Sniper fire, NAFTA…Anything to get votes.

Jeff from IN   May 6th, 2008 8:08 pm ET

She also faces an impossible mathematical situation. We should expect to hear LOTS (more) of this from CNN after tonight. Why are people still voting for her? Look at the exit polls. Pay close attention to the number of people voting for her with college degrees. What people should realize is that the educated people realize the situation, recognize the rhetoric, and are choosing the candidate that is far and away the smartest choice. Isn't this what we want in this country? Educated people know what is best for America. Obama is the nominee. Wake up people.

Does anyone out there really believe anything Hillary says???? Why do people vote for her.? She is a proven CHRONIC LIAR, has run a negative campaign with hateful personal attacks on Barack. She is definitely only out to gain political power for her own agenda because it is hurting the Dem Party. & it should be brought to an end by the Powers that are. Obama has enough to be the nominee & it should be declared.

Sue P / PA   May 6th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

She IS the do anything say anthing candidate….Holliday gas tax……. and to think some people fell for it. What can you really buy with 30 cents a day.

Mark   May 6th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

We(Americans) expect our politicians to be deceitful. get caught in a lie, almost no outcry, but heaven forbid they are wrong. That is the great sin in politics.

NickNas   May 6th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

I cannot believe this is still a topic of inttelligent discussion. Even Hillarys own supporters knwo she can't be trusted. That she lies. That isn't the point. They like her lies and not being able to trust her much more than electing a Black Man into the white house it is that plain and simple. Hate is what has held this country back in the past and hate is still strong here.

Greg   May 6th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

They don't trust her yet they vote for her.

What's up Indiana???

Sunny   May 6th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

Trust issue would be thanks to obama who is trying to hurt his own party candidates. so let's be fair. obama is a typical politician, not some new transformed politician.

Aces full of Kings   May 6th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

If I see 55% or higher for Hillary in Indy, I'm going to SCREAM!!!! If you don't trust her, don't vote for her! Duh! Nationwide, 67% don't trust her, probably more now after her gas tax mistake and obliterate Iran mistake. Will Hillary auction her pant-suits on e-Bay to raise money for her campaign? Stay tuned!

Rick in Oregon   May 6th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

Get real people. They both lie…..YOU LIE!!! I don't care. I want someone who gets things done and that is Hillary.

I will of course vote for Obama if he gets the nom as McCain is scarey.

Obama…..be a true uniter like Kennedy was and put Hillary on the ticket with you.

KRA   May 6th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

Hey J. Forbes, what Rev. Wright scandal? Obama's feet are being held to the fire for words that came out of someone else's mouth. For those who may not have their own political ideals and understandings, a spiritual or religious leader may help shape those views. Obama has been past that point for years. Church can be just what is is-church. Keep the spiritual and religious stuff and let the rest go out the other ear. For crying out loud, it was religious service with Rev. Wright not attending Political Science 451 with Professor Wright.

Steve, New York, New York   May 6th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

Hillary's HUGE disadvantage in the "trustworthiness" says it all - wow, maybe there's hope out there after all (for our country to choose better candidates than Hillary or George Bush # 43).

ANYONE BUT HILLARY IN 2008!!!!!

Pistoff   May 6th, 2008 8:00 pm ET

I can't trust her …. she is a proven liar.

Mark Johnson   May 6th, 2008 8:00 pm ET

I couldn't throw her far enough to trust her.

Drew, Central FL   May 6th, 2008 7:59 pm ET

The vast majority of her support is coming from whites and women. And let's face facts. If her last name wasn't Clinton, this would've been over a long time ago. I think America is ready for a woman president, but it's ready for HRC. She's gone too negative and she's been caught in too many lies.

People don't trust liars. You can't hold Obama responsible for what someone else says. If we all did that, we would disown most of our friends and families. That said, Wright threw him under the bus. Not the other way around.

At any rate, even if she were to win the nomination. Democrats and independents should unite to prevent Republicans from shafting the country another 8 years.

michael oyelowo   May 6th, 2008 7:57 pm ET

I hope the democratic nomination can finally be finalised the tupsy turvy battle between the two democratic candidate is only fueling the ammunition of John macain. America needs an economic resurgence because at the current rate America would no longer be a super power, even Canada will be economically better than the US, basically I hope your citizens are smart enough to rally behind OBAMA because that 's the only candidate that would not lie about sniper fire and the reason behind the war in iraq.

Toronto canada

Linda Janke   May 6th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

Hillary Clinton has proved that she will say and do anything, no matter how dishonest, to win. No wonder she cannot win the Democratic nomination for president - she reminds people too much of George Bush, another superb liar, who has led our country to the brink of ruin.

Why do people still vote for her? Aint her Bosnia account enough? Or, maybe, they are republican-turned-democrat primary voters who wanted her to win to make it easy for Mccain to win? LOL

ya think someone one use the red phone to call Hilliary
in for a reality check.

She is the best friend Mc Cain could wish for.

Julia   May 6th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

People are voting for her because of the two of them, she's the only one who can beat McCain.

Teri   May 6th, 2008 7:53 pm ET

I would trust Hillary a lot more than someone with a (and Obama said it himself) friend, pastor, and advisor with the views of Wright. Think about it people. Birds of a feather flock together. I could never be friends with someone that, supposedly thought so radically different than me.

Julia   May 6th, 2008 7:53 pm ET

Obama is just a smoother liar, that's all. It doesn't mean that Clinton doesn't lie. Obama just does it more often and then shields himself in the "I'm Black. If you say anything and call me on it, you're racist." And then he gives a speech. The GOP is going to chew this guy up and spit him out. Get ready for a new Republican presidency and new conservative supreme court nominees.

Relevant   May 6th, 2008 7:53 pm ET

INDIANA VOTES FOR CLINTON = OPERATION CHAOS.

It doesn't take a genius to figure this out.

There are untold MILLIONS of votes for Clinton in the primaries, which were cast by people who will be voting Republican in the General. Therefore, Hillary in reality is nowhere NEAR electable, if people looked at the real facts.

After further review,Texas   May 6th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Its Limbaugh and his pinheads subverting the vote and betraying the country.

Harerta Tesfa   May 6th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

Hence, the point of small town people voting with the comfort zone as opposed to their conscience and reason. If these folks consistently say they do not trust Clinton, they must be voting for her only because at least she looks like them. It's the race issue resurfacing all over gain and in its most unchallengeable form. Sadly, the Clintons, the shrewdest politicians America has ever seen ,have been more than glad to remind the unexposed that Obama is nothing but a black person…not an American, not a capable human being, not a patriot, not "anyone that relates of looks like you"…..If Obama looses this nomination, it will be for no other reason but because of his race. Then, America would have lost its opportunity to move forward with a united and reconciled people!

A bunch of suckers looking for $30 gas rebate and a bunch of uneducated people.

Hillary's support reminds me of how leaders are elected in 3rd world countries like India. A leader with most lies and most political pandering garners most votes.

LAS VEGAS — Motorists in Nevada might not see a savings at the pump if Congress approves a gasoline tax holiday touted by two presidential candidates.
A state DOT official said Nevada has a law to increase fuel taxes to offset any drop in the federal tax.
It's designed to ensure funding for construction projects and bond funding.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Democrat Hillary Clinton have proposed suspending the 18.4 cents-per-gallon federal tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day to provide relief to motorists facing rising fuel prices.

What sort of arrangement/marriage is it OK for a husband to have multiple public affairs in? then lie in the office she is seeking?…then lie about foreign trade agreements and her husband again involved? or just plainly for the arguement of experience lie about sniper fire. I mean honestly, she or Bill do not…., do not feel accountable for anything they do. I could not even imagine what she would ethically feel is viable in the whitehouse given her and her husband's history….

KRA   May 6th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

Wow, and some people would still rather vote for someone deemed the less trustworthy candidate than the more trustworthy one? At at time when this country desperately needs a president we can trust to be honest and look our for us, directly and through Congress, these poll numbers should be a deal-breaker. Hmm… So what's really important here? Is the vote for Billary really just a vote against Obama? If so, it'll be to the detriment of all democrats.

Realist   May 6th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

Is Hillary a truth-teller? Or is she a liar? It depends on what your definition of "is" is. Ha

Kim   May 6th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

Al — I think key to that is that educated voters take the time to get to know their candidate. Less educated voters tend to base decisions upon name recognition alone.

It's too bad really. This isn't a something the Clinton voters can defend — the stats are there and speak for themselves.

I'm just glad I fall in the "more educated voter" category!

This will be an interesting evening!

I am voting or him because he tells me the truth whether it hurts or not… at least I don't have to second guess myself when I think of him…

We all have to face the facts that when it comes to politicians Americans are not use to hearing the truth coming from politicians during and after an election years. Barack Obama is not telling voters what they want to hear but the TRUTH and the Clintons think that there is something wrong with him for doing so and in turns plays dirty…and why else would 50% of Hillary supports say if OBAMA wins the election that they will not vote or vote for McCain the the general election…(RACE!!!!) White American would rather go through more GW type times with McCain than elect and Africian American to run the country PERIOD!!! It's a SHAME but IT'S TRUE!!!!!!! That is why NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE, b/c we seems to like it when Politicians come and ask for our vote and LIE 2 US in the process…
