What a disgrace. But very easy to fix.

Once you register to vote for a primary or caucus....you will stay registered for the same party in the GE.....no switchbacks.

How sad that this has been going on. I'm from Canada and heard about this well before the Texas and Ohio primaries.

I'm sure the media was well aware also.....just ratings prove more important than true democracy.

Hopefully the SD's are paying attention. I believe that's why they were elected.....to ensure democracy works.

Dear Erik from Dallas,
What exactly do you think is the driver in all this? OpCHAOS is in DIRECT, yes DIRECT, response to all the Dems and so-called independents (sorry, if you only vote for Dems and REFUSE to vote for a Conservative now and then, you technically cannot be called an independent) who crossed over in Republican open primaries gave us McCain as the Republican nominee.

Nothing illegal has been done in OpCHAOS. Changing your political party is not illegal. Voting for the candidate of your choice is not illegal. In fact, my grandfather said the only time he ever voted Republican was to keep McGovern out of the White House.

OpCHAOS is in no way "tampering" with the election process. The national parties control the specifics (ie rules) on how they want to select their nominee. The primary process is arbitrary, at best, and is not governed by the Constitution.

Democrats are simply the Gang that Can't Shoot Straight. They were handed this election on a silver platter, but still managed to open the door up into their noses. If these clowns can't even manage the process to SELECT their candidate, how in the hell do you think they can defend against Global Jihad?

I don't see what people say is so "unAmerican" about a Republican voting in a Democratic primary, if the state party's rules specifically allow it.

The Republican primary is over. McCain won. The only choice voters now have is who they want on the other ticket. It's possible that some will vote based on whom they think is more beatable. I also believe that many will vote based on whom they feel would be the best alternative (or at least the less bad alternative) if McCain loses. Clearly Republicans are as split on that as Democrats, since the crossover voters are splitting down the middle in most states.

If the Republican race had been over when my state voted, I would have voted in the Democratic primary, not because I give a hill of beans what Rush says, but because I find one of the Democrats to be a much worse choice than the other.

Besides, as I said before, the rules specifically allow it. Keep in mind, these same rules are the ones that are repeatedly being used to defend not counting the votes in FL and MI, two states who make up 10% of the US population. If THOSE RULES make that outcome fair, thhen THESE RULES make this just as fair.

I don't know about the rest of you Dems, but the MSM has exhausted the Rev. Wright story to such a degree that I don't think he would be as effective a weapon as the republicans think.

I think the silver lining here as that this saturation media is making many of us desensitized to this issue. I know I'm sick to death of it already!!

This type of perversion of the democratic process is precisely why I left the Republican party after 31 years. It has totally undermined the credibitility of the party, cheapens the idea of democracy,
and, in my opinion, borders on treason.

As a veteran who proudly served his country when many others managed to avoid service, I must say that I feel that this is an insult to every person who served and defended our country and its way of life. Rush, you have made an absolute mockery of the system you claim to be so supportive of.

That being said, I have not since become a Democrat, however I do now call myself a "Recovering Republican."

Now you know why Howard Dean wanted the race to end early. So America wouldn't see how messed up the Democrat's primary season is.

All of the problems with the DNC are the responsibility of the Chairman. Howard Dean must go!!!

This race would have been over months ago, had it not been for his idiocy.

You can't violate the privacy of the voting booth. Who, or for what reasons, a person votes is entirely up to that person and cannot be subjected to "tests." A lot of people, not just those who follow Rush Limbaugh, don't make their final decision until they are standing in that booth.

Clinton is the easiest target because she LIED repeatedly. You folks who want to crucify Barack because of what his pastor said, are pathetic! It is possible to be a member of a church and disagree with some aspects of it, including a blow hard pastor or a wayward deacon or even trustee. For those of you who haven't lived the horror that is mostly the Black experience in America, I'll say this; educate yourselves about the true history of this country. If not, stick to the issues that affect us all. Nobody's pastor no matter how he speaks or no fellow board member is going to change this fix we're in.
Please vote for change!!!!

WHY ISN'T HE BEING CALLED ON THIS BY THE FEDERAL AUTHORITIES?

Update 2pm - Reports of robocalls that are targeting Obama in Indiana, automated phone calls that are apparently illegal in the state (checking on accuracy). Further controversy: The Secretary of State purged over a million names from the voter rolls. Obama blogs are playing this news up today as if it were more than a routine removal of voters who had died, were duplicated, or who moved.

The Republicans have enough on the Clinton's to win it, even if Bush is VP on McCain's ticket...

Rush only wants to prolong the process, and Hillary only wants to be President (Obama too). None really cares about what is best for the country. In reality, neither state is a swing state, so today's primary have small relevance in the GE. That said, however, the longer this goes on and the more Democrats that register, the more likely it is of an upset

From what I saw the "impact" was part of a percentage point. Rush doesn't have enough listeners with enough gumption to actually get up and do anything but shout "ditto" at their radios. Let's not give this washed-up blowhard doper more credit than he deserves.

Obama 08 & 12.

Since Indiana is so Republican, this means they are really scared of losing the election. Otherwise why would they bother to cross over? Also, Rush is just playing a game with his radio show. He's in it only for the money. He doesn't really believe in anything. Just ask anyone who knew him back in Cape Girardeau.

I know this is happening. My brother who is on the Limbaugh e-mail elert list, was instructed to begin voting for Hillary in the polls now. He signed up to be a Rasmussen pollee to do this. The idea is to make her poll numbers jump to make her argument to the supers that she is gaining.

For everyone who thinks this is funny, consider all the people who are spending their time, money, and effort to support their candidate, those who are doing it for free...for Clinton, Obama, or McCain. Say "oh, it's politics" all you want; but it is still spreading hate and lies. If you are a true patriot, you are better than that. If you want to call yourself a Christian, you are better than that, too.

The Republicans don't need to pay for advertising, CNNdoes it for them. One name for CNN Bigot, Bigot, Bigot.

So Rrepublicans and Independents vote for Obama, and it's because they want change and believe in hope and unity?

And Republicans and Independent vote for Clinton and it's because they want to cause chaos?

Personally, I believe Obama only won over Republicans and Independents early in the process because they felt he would be a weaker candidate than Clinton against McCain. Why was no one saying this three or four months ago? Oh, because they media had and continues to have a crush on Obama.

Republicans are voting for Hillary because she's one of them, afterall she was republican before she switched to being a Democrat so she could marry Bill Clinton. She still shows her republican side all the time acting like street fighter. That is why Rush supports her even more than he supports McCain.

Republicans can have Hillary. Democrats should not allow her to destroy the Democratic party, vote for OBAMA!!

There are a lot of real honest Republicans voting for Obama for very real reasons. I should know-- I am one of them. The only Republicans voting for Hillary are the ones who intentionally want him to lose.

Where's the mainstream media on this?

Rush Limbaugh and his ilk damage this country.

The exit polls in Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania of Republicans who crossed over in open primaries or changed registration to vote for HRC in Operation Chaos admitted to exit pollsters when asked at a rate of about 10 percent of the voters.

Without them this would have been over now.

First off CNN, WHY AREN'T YOU REPORTING ON THIS MORE????? Talk radio has been saturated with this since before Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania!!! It's the subject of over a hundred blogs from all over the US and you have chosen to all but ignore it or dismiss it up to this point! This has been huge for a while, and is the dirtiest form of politics.

I for one am whole heartedly for election reform to the effect that if you change parties prior to a primary or caucus, you must vote that party in the general election or your vote is disqualified. That would slam this loophole closed with a quickness. Where's Lou Dobbs when you need him??!

Hillary is my candidate of choice and this guys stupid rehotoric about the Republicans wanting to run against her could backfire. I hope people are more intelligent than RL and vote their conscience today no matter who they support.

hmmmmm....all the polls have indicated that Obama is the easier one for McCain to defeat. Rush just wants to prolong the battle hoping to damage the Democratic party. However, there are probably lots of Republicans voting for Obama because he is an easier target to beat in the fall.

Of course they want Clinton to win. She's toast in the GE. She is the least vetted candidate of all. She' secretive and manipulative and she has a WHOLE LOT of dirt under the rug that the Republican party can't wait to show America.

The REAL Hillary Clinton ,not the one that changes her accent and morphs to her surroundings, but the real one that will turn everyone's stomach.

This is very true. It's called OPERATION CHAOS! Too bad the Hillary Clinton supporters don't see this. But she has her own sheep to fence-jump when Obama is the nominee. Dirty, shameful politics. This country could learn alot from Japan and Australia's political systems. We just don't seem to get it, and our primary and delegate rules are a mess. Don't forget also that a couple weeks ago, Rush Limbaugh incited a riot in Denver at the Convention. Look at what happened in 1968 Chicago after RFK was shot and the war protesters rioted. Denver could get real ugly in August if this thing goes sour. Shame on you, Rush.

How about new rules for all sates:

A) You can only vote in the party you are registered with. No more Republicans being able to vote in Democratic primaries or the other way around.

B) You can only vote in a primary after being registered for more than a year. No more switching parties to vote for the weaker of the opposition.

Shameful and yellow-bellied.

Too bad there has been little MSM coverage of this because even George Stephanopoulos went on Hannity's show and was given the questions they asked in the so-called "debate" on ABC.

We also had wall to wall 24/7 coverage of Wright by the MSM for what seemed an eternity.

Also, the ringht wing nuts have been highly praising Hillary everytime they can on Hannity's shows, with Karl Rove and William Kristol piliing on and Scaife helping in Pennsylvania as well as the Wall Street Journal (owned by Rupert Murdoch) article attacking Obama.

Still standing after all this and having McCain and Clinton campaigns coordinating attacks as well as Bill and Chelsea actively campaigning, Obama has withstood a test that ensures he is the one that will win in November.
