Sources say Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut contributions to congressional Democrats.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Hillary Clinton supporter Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut off contributions to congressional Democrats unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi embraced his plan to finance revotes in Florida and Michigan, three officials familiar with their conversation said.

Weinstein and Pelosi talked on the phone late last month, the sources said.

The three officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk publicly about the conversation.

They said Weinstein, a top supporter of Clinton's presidential campaign, appeared determined to buy Clinton more time in her battle against Sen. Barack Obama by pushing for the revote. He was also pressing Pelosi to back off her previous comments that superdelegates should support the candidate who's leading in pledged delegates in early June, the sources said.

I'm with your guy too....Irene Brown DNC need to count Florida and Michigan if they not count do not let Florida and Michigan vote in general
election with both party.

Angola   May 8th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

To show some respect to the party and the voters and your supporters just quit

Oh! The Irony   May 8th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Irene Brown May 8th, 2008 12:28 pm ET

It is completey un fare not to count delegates from Florida & Michigan. Florida could not hold an elction on time due to the Republicans. There are 50 states in this country. We all pay taxes, we all should be counted. On the Novemeber election we need a democratic Nomineee to beat Mc'cain. We will not go to vote on Novemeber if the delegates from Florida & Michigan are not counted now.

Then all of you have earned the right to shut your mouths if McCain wins and you end up with more taxes, a bloodier Iraq, increased foreclosures, and $7.00/gallon gas.

Instead of you blaming the Democratic nominee, why don't you revolt against your state lawmakers who figured this Democratic race would be over by the time of their scheduled primaries and out of their own conceit, moved up their primary dates.

Brian MacDougall   May 8th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Gee, Harvey, this isn't the Oscars; you can't just buy Hillary a Best Actress Oscar!

Or can you?

MM   May 8th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Oops, I meant the polls and I meant the next 4 years. It will be your fault that we have McCain and any economic disaster or international disaster will also rest at your door if you do not exercise your right to vote in November.

MR. WEINSTEIN, THANK YOU FOR HAVING A REAL SET OF B#LLS!!!!! YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO FLEX YOUR POLITICAL MUSCLE. DON'T BACK DOWN TO THE OBAMAPHILE HYPOCRITS. THEY HAVE BEEN WHINNING AND BULLYING THEIR WAY INTO WHAT THEY WANT FOR MONTHS NOW!!!!!!! IT'S TIME CLINTON SUPPORTERS STARTED FLEXING RIGHT BACK.

Daniel from San Diego   May 8th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

I have always wondered: If Hillary had been ahead of Barack in the primaries would this race had dragged on this long? Let's not forget that Florida and Michigan fully aware of the consequences held their primaries very early. Should they be rewarded for breaking party rules? Harvey should stick to what he is go at, financing films.

Lee-Boston   May 8th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Hillary Clinton and her supporters are a mess. They are dividing this country. Hillary Clinton says white and hispanic will not vote for OBAMA but black will vote for her. She still have that slave mentality thinking white man still own black and black can't think for themselves. I am so ashame of the way she runs her campaign. She is a disgrace to this country.

Marlene   May 8th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Are you kidding me??? Is this guy another thug like the Clintons???? If you can't win fairly then by all means. Cheat!

Message to Hillary- YOU DID NOT WIN MICHIGAN. YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE ON THE TICKET. IT WAS YOU OR NOBODY. AND HOW DARE YOU LET YOUR THUGS BULLY OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR PARTY. YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO WOMEN. ALL YOU DO IS LIE, WHINE AND CHEAT.

After all the strong armed tactics she should just be disqualified. This is a true representation of what will happen in the White House under her command. God help us all!

And if you from FL and Michigan don't go to the pools in November if your delegates are not counted now then please just keep your mouths shut for the next 4 months because you will have lost all right to complain, criticize, or suggest anything to or about the government.

Concerned Voter   May 8th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

If Obama is so strong, then why not go for this ? Hillary has way too many supporters to back down. It needs to go to the end. Also, stories about the Obama supporters and their behavior are starting to surface. This is still democracy and 16,000,000 people will not be told to "go away."

Post this CNN. Lets see if you do.

Matt Florida   May 8th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

I would like to know why Hillary's fans have had nothing to say on this issue? On every other blog they post comments but this one nothing. This says quite a bit about this issue when her supporters aren't touching it.

Everyone signed off on the rules, and the rules were known before dates were set. This was obviously done intentionally so the question shouldn't be can we get the votes counted but WHY WAS IT DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE????

Shawn from Kansas   May 8th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Since my last comment is still hung in moderation.......summary:

It's this kind of stuff that divides the party. Are Clinton supporters going to see this as an example of how they need to act in order to unite the party? Very poor judgement Weinstein. This effects the Dem Party as a whole since it was even considered a tactic.

Cathy-AL   May 8th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Shame on you Harvey. Instead of trying to buy Hillary the nomination send her some of your money to pay off her campaign debts so she can bow out gracefully. It's time.

susanne   May 8th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Then get out of our party.....the democratic party will not, and should not stand for this nonsense....I, for one, will contribute money just to make sure that this man has no voice....since the rules were not followed, just split the delegates fifty-fifty...PERIOD...any thing else would be UNFAIR to those of us who believe that rules govern our country and our party.

Matt - MN Obama Supporter   May 8th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

I think this is just Sad on so many levels. I hope it's true that Pelosi told Weinstein "Don't ever threaten me again". This is the kind of thing Obama is trying to change (and that the McCain of 2000 was as well before he turned into a carbon copy of George W. Bush this year). I think Obama has shown with his campaign that you don't need people like Harvey Weinstein to run an effective fund raising campaign and I have a feeling that democratic big wigs like Pelosi, Reid, and Dean understand this. Again, I think Weinstein needs to take a long look at himself and what he has done here and hopefully he will realize the error of his ways.

Plus, I think Clinton is thinking concession right now anyways. She'll continue till the end of the Primaries, but I think in the end she will step aside and throw her support to Obama. Politically, it will gain her a lot of credit with people she has upset in the last year and a half and if that support can bring Obama the election victory in 2008, she will have rebuilt a lot of those bridges she has burned during these campaigns. She's a Clinton and now that Penn is basically out of the picture, she will do the smart thing. She ran a tough race and my hope is we can all come together in the Fall around Obama.

Dont worry MI. and FL. your delegate will be seated accordingly, but if you think they are going to simply count the way they were original casted then you are mistaken. No way is Hillary going to get all those delegates with her deceptive azzz!!
out of about 6 or 7 other candidates that agreed to the rules, how come she was the only one on the Mich. ballot, this fact speaks volumes of her intergrity and honesty, she did a low ball sneak move and put her name on that ballot, not surprised though, can't expect the Clintons to play by the rules, look at what she and her coherts are trying now...

Oh Oh, Hillary got heckled yesterday in WV when she tried to continue the fake gas tax crap again, WV can see right thru the pandering just like IN. and NC.and at the Washington Fund Raiser she got heckled by someone with a banner saying "Obliterate Iran- apologize"....This woman is dangerous, PERIOD>

So Harvey is trying to buy influence. Gee this sure sounds contrary to Hillarys populist theme. Thugs like these seem to have an unusual amount of control. Three cheers for Nancy Pelosi for standing up to him. It gives me comfort that the highest ranking democrat in our government has some of the same traits as Obama. We can take this country back.

The Clinton's and some of their Campaign supporters truly represent the Old School Political Mafia. This is an Era that needs to be over. We are not in Iran , Iraq, Russia or China. This is supposed to be America, the Nation to be above the others. We shouldn't be allowing the purchase of Politicians Rep. or Dem. This is why the country is so messed up now, our Politician are being bought by contributions and not working for the better of the People.

George   May 8th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

It looks like the same old song, if you have money, you have power. If Sen Obama was losing like Hillary is, the superdelegates would have already pushed him out.

They owe Bill & Hillary too much so they are allowing Hillary the opportunity to continue to be negative, weaken the Party Democrats chances to win.

It's plain to see they owe it to her to trash her own party and say in her speech there will be unity! We will have unity only if I win is what she is saying, if not I will make sure no democrat will win.

AT THIS POINT I LAY THE FULL BLAME ON THE REMAINING SUPERDELEGRATES WHO HAVE THE POWER TO END THIS BUT WILL WAIT UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE..........................SAD DAY IN AMERICA

GO HARVEY GO!!!!!!!!!!!!   May 8th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

p1tey1   May 8th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

This makes me SICK!!! The votes in Florida and Michigan would have counted if they had FOLLOWED THE RULES!!!! What part of that is so hard for people to understand!!!

I will NEVER vote for a Clinton again!!!!!

Florida and Michigan should have followed the RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Florida and Michigan should have followed the RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why should the Clinton's and their supporters be allowed to forego the RULES??!!??!! What makes them think they are so special!!!??! Its time for Hillary to sit down so the party can come together. This country can't afford to have McCain as president. We should be fighting the REPUBLICANS, not each other.

frank   May 8th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

A primary reelection should be held in Florida and Michigan. Otherwise, it will be unfair to Hillary, since she has stronger support in large states that is the key for Democrats to win the general election. In fact, the liabilities Obama have had will make him hard to win McCain. Therefore, for the good of the Democrats, it is reasonable to hold a reelection in Florida and Michigan to see who is the real winner. I think anyone who really supports Democrats should support this reelection in Florida and Michigan.

Pam   May 8th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

If the people in Florida and Michigan are angry about what their states' governments did with their primaries, then they need to vote those people out of office when they're up for re-election. None of the candidates had anything to do with the decisions made by the state governments. You can't change the rules in the middle of the game just because you're losing Hillary.

Ret.Vet.   May 8th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

I wonder if we as Americans can sue this guy for trying to extort the speaker of the house. This is something that need to be looked onto. seems like he's commiting a crime to me.

Travis Watkins, Wa   May 8th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

Enough is Enough!
I Have been a voting republican for almost 17 years now, and I can tell you me and my wife will be voting for Obama this november. The democrats need to rally behind the candidate that has shown true sability and grit, Sen. Barack has weathered everything that ms. clinton has throughn at him. It is my opinion that Hillary does not care about her political party or she would have run for president last term! It is only now that the public popularity of the republican party is at its lowest, she see's what we all see: "that the next President WILL be a democrat". She is in it for the prestige, the popularity and possibly pave the way for her media sheltered daughter to eventually become another "clinton" president so they all can say that they are the new "Royal" family on america. Further more, hillary acts like she is owed not only the nomination, but, that she is also owed the presidency and she will do EVERYTHING and ANYTHING TO GET IT EVEN IF SHE DESTROYS HER PARTY TO DO IT! Republicans Mit Romney and Huckleby had the decency to to graciously back out for the unity of their party, so that all rublicans could rally around the "nominee" and focus on the true compition that matters!

voter   May 8th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

Well, if Hillary supporters believe every vote should count, then why ask the superdelgates to overturn the elected delegates which is the will of the people. This contridiction does not make sense and is truly undemocratic.

Michael   May 8th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

Wow! Harvey Weinstein speaks. Who is he? Hollywood, right? So, who cares?

jason   May 8th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

wow. I can only imagine how bad the corruption is in the republican nomination process – they also have no shame, but are much better at keeping secrets.

Kitty-AL   May 8th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

Frank, your ignorance shows in your poor spelling, poor grammar, and poor attitude. Sen. Obama has beat. Let go of the racism and hate. You'll feel better. Also, before you try to send Sen. Obama back to where he belongs, remember that unless you are a Native American your people were immigrants. So, where should you go back to?

John, OH   May 8th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

It's hypocritical. He's such a hypocrite, even in this one statement. It's all well and good if you say "The voices of the voters in Michigan and Florida should be heard", but you can't also say "The superdelegates should ignore the votes cast by the people."

Frank   May 8th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

So Pelosi wants superdelegates to pick the candidate that's leading the pledged delegate count. God, how unreasonable!

Melissa   May 8th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Wow, this belongs on the front page.

Marc in Quebec   May 8th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Another example of the "me"-centric universe in which Clinton and her supporters live.

Cut off the funding. Do whatever you want. She won't win and you are handing the presidency to McCain.

Congratulations Weinstein, you are obviously a closet Republican.

Todd   May 8th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Another Clinton attempt to cheat or bend/break the rules.

But what are rules to the Clintons? Marriage vows are not sacred, lying under oath is not sacred, cattle futures, land deals...

For them it has always been win by any means.

Ratgurl   May 8th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Disgusting! People with money who then want power…. all the more reason to vote for Obama.

Pelosi should tell him to take his funds & stick 'em! With Obama running, the power is in the hands of the American people.

An American in Canada   May 8th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

DO NOT FORGET TO TELL MRS. PELOSI, THAT GARLIC NOSE, THAT OVER 90% OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS ARE FOR BARACK AND
OVER 60% OF WHITE AMERICANS ARE FOR CLINTON PLUS ABOUT 75% OF LATINOS ARE FOR CLINTONS AND 69% OF ASIANS ARE FOR CLINTON....

Dutch   May 8th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

LisaSF   May 8th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

It is worth noting that, under McCain Feingold, the total someone can give the DCCC and Congressional canidates combined is less than $100,000 every two years. That is a lot of money to me, but not to a prolific fundraiser like Pelosi. Weinstien reminds me of Dr. Evil demanding $1 million dollars. But in this case, his threat carries even less weight. What a joke.

Clintons are good at making excuses and doing wrong things. This is a racist way to get rid of OBAMA, who has played fair and square. Has not really attacked Hillary on a lot of her bad dealings in the past. Lets look at whitewater and others as well look at the lies she has spoken in the primaries.
Hillary with this being the last straw you have eliminated yourself from the VP position. OBAMA please choose EDWARDS he is a better person than Hillary Clinton.

Another Power Play Over Democracy   May 8th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

Well here comes the strong arm theory since the kitchen sink didn't work so well. If Hillary couldn't buy the American vote for $30 does this guy think he can buy the Super Delegates and the Democratic Party's vote?

Stand firm Nancy like you did earlier this year. You know we are behind you on this AND we know it is going to get very ugly. That's why Super Delegates are afraid to speak out. Can you imagine what a strangle hold she would have on this country if she actually got into office?

America IS NOT FOR SALE Hillary.

Scott - GA.   May 8th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

the people did vote for who they wanted, their were other local candidates on the FL. ballot and a new tax law or something. However a majority of people in Mich. and FL. did not vote because they KNEW their votes would not count. Grown ups please act like grown-ups and play by the rules what's so hard about that? When she was inevitable and agreed to Mich. and FL. not be seated you didn't hear a word about those two states and believe me Hillary don't give a hoot about Fl. and Mi. until she needed them.

Get a grip on reality! This fat ugly rich white guy is not funding anything he is small time loser! The people and other respectful well off people have been supporting this party for many years! He should be put on trial for even suggesting such a thing! I hope Sen Pelosi smashes him like a bug! She should hold a press conference and invite him to join the GOP if he does not like democracy or he wants to control things through fear! Horrible and the only people you see posting in her supporting him are very overtly racist saying as much in there comments we all knew race would play a role in this but it will not be a major role.

Go Obama 08 Yes We Can

Tobias   May 8th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

The votes in Florida and Michigan need to be counted. We will lose these states if Obama is the nominee and if the votes are not counted. He has infuriated his supporters there for saying no to the revote and unless the delegates are seated they will go Republican in the fall. I am a life long Democrat and I will leave the party if this is not resolved.

So it is just fine for Obama to buy his candidacy through candy coated promises while fair voting can be called into question? Just what has Senator Obama done that makes people think he actually has any willingness to do anything other than act the way he has? I still am waiting for an answer on any issue you can go to the bank with but instead he spews out all this stuff in such a way he can't be held accountable for anything he says or claims to believe in. A typical lawyer.

This is ridicules! This is typical of how Washington and the Clintons have worked in the past. Stiff-arming the people to get their way should not be allowed. Pelosi should be firm and tell him that, “the Democratic Party don’t need your money and we will follow the rules of the DNC!”

Oh..I get it..Its OK for Obama to say African Americans are voting for him and will not vote for her, but Hillary cant say Whites are voting for her? WHAT???

Thomas Baker   May 8th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Harvey is a joke. His obnoxious behavior is why Tarrantino movies no longer get nominated for oscars. Holliwood can't stand him and his bullying.

This could backfire on the DNC if Pelosi backs down to Harvey. Or it could be used as a catalyst to get the rest of Holliwood to contribute to drown Harvey out.

Seattle's for Obama   May 8th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Do American's really want Hollywood dictating who the next president is going to be? I can't believe what is going on. If Hillary were to steal the nomination the Republicans would be able to hold this over her head all the way to November.

NOTE TO HOLLYWOOD: THE WHITE HOUSE IS NOT FOR SALE!!!!

Terry H   May 8th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Good for him! There are people in the DNC who can't stand the thought of a woman president and have been pushing hard for her to quit. It's about time someone pushed back! I have NEVER in 45 years donated to a candidate until now and I have donated 4 times to Hillary. When I get my stimulus checkm I will donate more because there is NOTHING in this world more important than putting someone in the white House who can help us little people. If she is railroaded out of this thing, then i will switch to republican and support them financially as well because i believe with all of my heart that Obam is destroying this party and will destroy this country if allowed anywhere near our oval office. Of course this won;t get posted because CNN hates Hillary supporters but America neeeds to open her eyes!

Mary   May 8th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

On FL & MI…..yes the delegates will be included but RULES are RULES. Both sides agreed to the rules BEFOREHAND. Right? So the only fair way is to split the delegates 50-50.

And whatever Hillary says about disenfranchising the voters as the real reason she is picking on this is a joke. We all know this only has to do with her trying to win. Do I have any proof? YES! Hillary has said on more than one occasion that its ok to ask the PLEDGED Delegates to switch to her side. So there goes this disenfranchising the voters theory. Its just more SNIPER FIRE headed your way by Hillary.

I wonder who put this guy up to pressuring Pelosi? (HRC tactics),

Haas   May 8th, 2008 12:31 pm ET

This guy should not be allowed any where near Washington. These are exactly the kind of people Obama wants to take out of the equation. I hope MoveOn.org's support can continue to replace these people. Mr. Weinstein and other Clinton financiers, you don't own this country, we do! The American people.

Tammy   May 8th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

You guys have no idea how people in Michigan and Florida are feeling. We want our voices to be heard just like the rest of the 48-states. Our American flag has 50 stars, NOT 48, I hope the Obama campaign would finally agree with the Re-vote proposal presented previously by both the DNC and the Clinton campaign. And remember, it was Obama's choice to take his name off the ballot in Michigan to appease Iowa so he could win Iowa.

California voted for Hillary.

Bishal, Irene, Christine, Dawn, Kyle, Lynn, Dale, Sam, Corey, Mommy Norma, Rene, Anthony, Zackarre & Adam from Florida

Both candidates support leaving FL and MI out because of rules violations, and now that Billary DESPIRATELY NEEDS votes to make her campaign have a legitimate shot at getting to the General election, they are all the sudden for it.
where I come from, if you break a rule, you pay for it. They broke the rules, they SHOULD pay for it.

Dan J   May 8th, 2008 12:28 pm ET

What a shame. No wonder Nancy Pelosi's tone has changed and she wants the voting process to continue even though it is all over now for Clinton.

This is old news. A group of her supporters also agreed to pay for the revote in Michigan. What is surprising is the Clinton campaign didn't see anything ethically wrong with having her big money supporters finance revotes in Florida and Michigan.

in every state she is for something differant what ever people want to here she says it

Bring Unity not Divide and Conquer   May 8th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

These are Hillary's wild cards. If the votes are counted and delegates are seated as is(which is illegal) will be the greatest upset in democratic history. she says the people voted. Right! and monkeys come flying out of my butt!!! That was not a vote, but a sneaky hillary experiment to see what it would look like if she had ZERO competition. and she still only got 55% of the vote.

Ron   May 8th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

With CNN being so pro Clinton, I am surprised that they even ran this story. I guess it ran somewhere else first so it was old news now.

California Lady   May 8th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

This is exactly what I have been saying all along. The Clinton's will do whatever it takes to be back in the White House, even buying an election. How very sad but more importantly, how scary.
We came so close to her winning the Nomination and I know for a fact that if she had won, there would have been no stopping her and Bill and all their corrupt behavior.
Even now she won't bow out gracefully. Why? Well, she needs to have her supporters keep sending her their hard earned money so she can pay herself back the $11.4 million she loaned her campaign. I also am willing to bet she is in far more debt than this amount so she needs your money folks. Go ahead, sent it to her so she and Bill can keep their millions in the bank.

Grant   May 8th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Save your $$$ Harvey, the DNC does not need your donation, stick to making second rate movies where you belong. Obama has $40M in the bank, the people of America will make up the difference that you are threatening to withhold. Your out of the loop Harvey, just a regular citizen now like the rest of us..lol

Tracy   May 8th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

Buying an election Nice.

Ted   May 8th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

Gee, I wonder if the Democratic Party can possibly survive without this loser's contributions. Let's see now. Barack Obama has raised about $150 million from everyday people. When will people like Harvey Weinstein realize that he's no longer relevant. Shouldn't he focus on trying to put out great movies, instead of another "Fatal Attraction" film starring Hillary Clinton.

Jerry Hoff   May 8th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

This is exactly the case Senator Obama is making – the old washington politics in action – and why naational priorities are not being met, for example, education, national security, defense, energy, economic, infrastructure, etc.

Aneeta   May 8th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

So much Fraud and corruption even in the US which is supposed to be a developed nation. For power, people go to any extent. Clintons have so much connection in the white house that they can completely overturn the people's decision to meet their personal agenda which is POWER POWER POWER.

Just because, she is behind Obama in delegates, she wants to change the rules. Why should rules be changed for her? because she is a Clinton.

Could Obama have got the rules changed if he were running behind Clinton in delegates?

Pam   May 8th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

Another Clinton thug. Sigh.

Scot   May 8th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

An interesting concept. Harvey is so loaded that he thinks he can buy the nomination for Hilary, while Hillary is having to loan her own campaign $11.4 million (which of course rounds up to $20 milion in Hillary dollars....).

Is there a reason that educated whites are supporting Obama?

People should vote for whom they want   May 8th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

Does not bother any of you Obama supporters that peoples votes will be taken away from them. Mr. Weinstein has every right to expect the democratic party to have everyones votes count expecially since he is funding the party. He is not buying anything. The right to have ones vote count the last time I looked is FREE – THIS IS AMERICA REMEMBER. If the shoe were on the other foot all of you would be crying racist. You are hyprocriates. Good for Mr. Weinstein to expect fairness in this Country.

russell   May 8th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

people wil do anything thing to win ......since Hillary can't fairly beat Obama she has to resort to racial tactis to get support from people.......that 's a person who doesn't give a good hoot about the democratic party ./........it's over Hill .

Dave   May 8th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

What a frickin joke. Now we now why our country is going down the toilet. Pelosi needs to go along with Hill.

Jon   May 8th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

If this is true, all I have to say for you Hillary and her supporters is this is a new low. I never thought you could go lower but you have officially found yourself in league with the most corrupt politicians of our time. The sad thing is that I once had respect for you and would have voted for you still if you somehow stole the nomination from Obama. Now, if you go down that road, I will be another of the millions of Obama supporters who will not vote for you.

Jeanne   May 8th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

My understanding is that even if the votes from Florida & Michigan are counted as is, it won't help Clinton. Pelosi should just tell the man NO! and tell Billary to drop out of the race. It's over. Try again in 4 years.

Dean   May 8th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

This is what politics is all about. The people with the money are the ones actually making the decisions. That is why the system needs to be change. Do not think for a moment that Hillary or anyone else that has been in politcs for any significant time will take the high road. They "owe" too many people/corporations and they will not write policies that will harm them.

EBC   May 8th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

What a disgrace!!!!

Clinton's GOONIES are out doing her dirty WORK and she's stands by and plays the innocent victim over and over.

This just proves how low Sen. Clinton's will stoop. She has so much dirty on her hands and yet she turns a deaf ear and blind eyes to it all. How convenient.

This is why the Clintons are turning people off. When your losing and you start pulling these types of political tactics, it just makes Sen. Obama's case for him when it comes to the "SAME OLD AND TIRED WASHINGTON POLITICS". The Clintons just DON'T GET IT, Americans are SICK of these games and want to end the Clinton era of the Washington "status quo".

Sen. Clinton continues to ignore the voices of the people across this country. She refuses to listen to top economists when it came to her "tax holiday", even when her own staffers say it's just a "political gimmick, they know it will never work" AND she refuses to face the fact that she's LOST despite the reality of the numbers. This is EXACTLY the same Republican behavior the our current President exhibits!! Sen. Clinton has been campaigning more like a Republican than a Democrat. She claimed just this morning that "if the Democratic Party followed the rules of the Republican Party she would have won indiana by a bigger margin! What!! Is she crazy?

We are NOT the Republican Party WE ARE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!! She needs to start remembering which PARTY she's representing. Maybe she's confused on which party she is running under. When she made the statement that Sen. John McCain would make a great VP, that just blew my mind! To even utter such a suggestion is like shooting yourself in the foot yet again!

The Clinton era is quickly coming to an END. They KNOW it, They've KNOWN it for some time AND They have been told this fact by the people that surround them. I mean come on, the look on both Bill and Chelsea's face when she was talking in Indiana was ALL TO CLEAR. They know the writing is on the wall. She's just in TOO MUCH DEBT to get out NOW. She can't afford to get out, that's the only reason she's begging for money and loaning rather than donating her own money to her campaign. If she were honestly and truly "committed" to her campaign, she would have DONATED the $11.4 million rather than LOAN it to her campaign. Sen. Clinton is going to bill all her supporters for her loans. Where else is the money going to come from? The DNC isn't going to pay her LOANS!!

Alex   May 8th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Political scum. This is the type of behavior and corruption you can expect to run rampant, (or continue to run rampant I should say) if Hillary the cackling hag is able to buy this nomination.

Kevin   May 8th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Good idea, Harvey, but guess what! No one cares about you and your big donor monies.

Barack Obama has inspired enough new small donors to cover your loss. Go take a hike.

Janet, Arizona   May 8th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

"buy Clinton more time" The operative word here is "buy." He is trying to "buy" the White House for Hillary. I am so sick of the corruption in this country. Big Money and Corporate Interests rule here in the Corporate States of America.

I can guarantee there will be loads on Hillary supporters commenting on here condoning this. This is simply unacceptable. They said that they are working on a way to seat the delegates but you have people threatening the DNC. Why would anyone think this is acceptable? Why?

European Observer   May 8th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Not that it makes a difference...
But most of us here in the EU find this election hilarious!!

You have Obama, who is winning the nomination FAIRLY, but isnt being recognised as the winner!!

And Clinton, becoming more desperate everyday, who has somehow managed to convince herself that she has a chance of wining!
Thing is... A lot of you actually BELIEVE her!! =]

It sure does make good T.V.

tatiana, Flushing   May 8th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Go for it Pelosi! Hillary is worth it. She should get the votes which has earned.

James   May 8th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Why do people think Hillary will blow Obama out in Michigan? Demographically it fits Obama and even when she was the only person on the ballot in February, Hillary only got 55% of the vote. I agree we should try to find a way to count the voices of people in both Florida and Michigan but I fail to see it being a huge difference maker in the overall results.

Jatovi, NC   May 8th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

How much more crooked can the Clinton machine be? Trying to force the superdelegates to steal the election is just wrong and borderline criminal. I am now afriad of what a Clinton presidency would be. this is why I am very glad Obama leads in all catagories and will be our next President.

Kevin Leo (Jonesboro, GA)   May 8th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

And there are still some out there that wonder why so many people have joined Barack's campaign to change the way politics are conducted?! He is trying to extort the Speaker of theHouse – how freking bold and crazy is this? This is not one of your hollywood movies that you can direct as you see fit! Lets see if Hillary or her campaign denounces this sleazy manipulation of our political system.

Julie-Washington   May 8th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

This is sickening....Thank God that Nancy Pelosy did not cave in.
I cannot help but think if the shoe was on the other foot Senator Clinton would be stating "rules are rules and have to be followed"
If this "gentleman" is her top supporter and she is having to pay millions of dollars to her campaign that doesn't say too much for this man!! Let him take his money. Real demograts and not those with agendas will see rules are for a reason and Senator Clinton and Senator Obama both agreed to these rules before this race ever started they should be enforced.
There are so many new people who joined the Democratic party if they see plays like this and crooked offers being accepted we can say good bye to them.

gordon   May 8th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

Truly Truly disturbing. Harvey Weinstein is ridiculous.
He spent the entire 1990's basically buying Oscars (with Disney's $$) for the crap movies Miramax was pumping out and now he is going to try and buy himself a president. What a douche bag.

Firm Supporter of Obama   May 8th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

This is exactly what Obama is talking about–OLD BACK ROOM POLITICS. What makes Hillary so sure she will win both states? This is the same egotistic attitude that has her in the mess she's in now. This is absolutely pathetic and I'm sure she is ready to embrace anyone who will "Buy and Steal" this election for her! KEEP YOUR MONEY, LOSER!!

MARCE   May 8th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

Figures, seriously is anyone surprised by Clinton and her minions! And this is what "white" Americans want....I don't think so!

hmmm   May 8th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

wow, what's next, Harvey? If you don't stop people from downloading stuff off the internet, I'll stop giving you money. And if you don't start giving movie studios more tax breaks, I'm not going to give you money. This is the exact opposite of lobbyists giving money to congress to get their way, he's withholding money instead. This is, of course, his business if he wants to stop contributing to the party, to make this kind of threat sounds like bullying to me. I hope Pelosi doesn't give in to his threats. If she does, this just enforces my belief that Washington can be bought and exactly why we need change.

Martha   May 8th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

We all know the history of the Clintons when people try to stand in their way, i.e. Vince Foster. But this time, no one is buying the scare tactics. That is why she is trying to stay in as long as she can.

here we go again! I am a Florida voter. I voted knowing that my vote would not count, because of the idiots in government of my State. Rules are Rules and Florida as well as Michigan did not follow them. It is not the party's fault! The blame would lay at the feet of those who decided to hold our primaries before the requested date. And Hillary should know better. She read the rules and signed off on them. Talk about a whiner. But we should known she would be one from the way she cried to get sympathy votes in NH. Shame on you Hillary. I used to love the Clintons, but little by little we are beginning to see their true colors.

Chitown in Chicago, IL   May 8th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Almost unbelievably this continues to get worse! I'm finally beginning to see that there isn't anything that the Clinton Camp won't try to get this primary to end in their favor. I was thinking and hoping that there was some form of ethics left within Billary somewhere; now I see that it's their way or the highway, and that they'll bulldoze through whatever and whomever they deem necessary to get what they feel they're entitled to. It's as if their previous threat to Pelosi earlier this year wasn't brash enough. Billary and their Camp make Chicago politics look upright. Scary, scary stuff.

K   May 8th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Why don't "Keep your money Harvey" and others actually read the rules? A fair and timely vote could have been organized weeks ago, and the Party leadership knows that. Voters in Florida and Michigan, as well as Clinton supporters across the country would like to know why they haven't done so!

The Eye   May 8th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

This makes me sick to the stomach! This is what makes Obama look so much better. Washington politics is all about money, connections and white hall impudence. Controll and manipulation is all that the Washington politicians think of! What about the American people? Do they matter! This reaks of bad politics like those found in Zimbabwe! No better. Had this happened by the Obama camp, we would have had Fox news and CNN forking out blasphemous headlines...but it is a Clinton...they never lose! What a shame !

Charles B.   May 8th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

This stinks to high heaven! Threats of withholding money unless the DNC and Pelosi change the democratic rules to put Clinton in the White is the typical approach of well funded elitists who put their interests ahead of all the American people who aren't like them, RICH.

Don't sell us out Ms. Pelosi!!!

Dennis   May 8th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

I'm not sure what to call this, but I find it highly improper when a supporter attempts to buy off a politician to changer her position.

Weinstein and the others should be ashamed of themselves.

Good for Pelosi for standing up for herself. I hope Clinton has the courage to contact these supporters and demand they stop their improper behavior.

pleez   May 8th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

This goes to show how weak the DNC heads are money is not all Hill have already sold her soul and Pelosi, no wonder people are relunctant for a woman president they are too week, they bow to pressure. If Clinton and her wealthy cronies special interest think for a second that they can use there money to get this nomination to go there way they have another guess coming.

Whatever you are destined for you will have to get and Barak was destined to be president. Put that in your pike and smoke it.

No state should not be able to have their votes count, no matter what.
Is Pelosi jealous of Clinton or something, does she want to be President. Typical women jealous of women stuff if you ask me.

Elizabeth, DeLisle, Mississippi   May 8th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

Why should Obama be denied what he has earned fairly, just because Clinton and her supporters feel that she is entitled to be president, because she is riding off the coat tails of her husband. Why didn't Hillary protest or even file a law suit against the DNC a year and half ago before signing that form stating that the votes and delegates would not count or be seated at the convention, this question should be answered and explained by Hillary to her supporters, why she signed and sit by and allowed it and never spoke up before for those voters and delegates, until now only because she needs those delegates in order to try to compete with Obama now. How come when she was in the leader spot those votes & delegates didn't matter but , now they are so deserving of being heard. She says in front of cameras that she will support the Dem candidate who wins but that only apply if shes the winner!!!!!!!!

More dirty tricks from the Hillary camp. Question: If she cared so much about the party and truly wanted the best for the country, wouldn't the best be for her to concede at this point. The democratics needs to start campagning for the general election. What's going on? Please stop the nonsense and let's see Obama to the white house.

Threatening to withhold contributions sounds like the old politics of arm-twisting. Some things apparently never change. What is different is hearing about it close to the time when it actually occurred (or is alleged to have occurred).

Regardless of what many posters may think of CNN (and no, I did not get a request from CNN to post this), there is a genuine public service to informing us of these kinds of backroom dealings. We need to know, because it tells us more about the kind of potential administration we might be dealing with, were the candidate in question to be nominated and elected.

This is the kind of story we need more of, because it tells more about ethics than just reporting the race for superdelegates. There is something sophomoric about focusing on these individuals who can do whatever they want to do, when they want to do it, so far as casiting a vote goes, up to the time they cast their ballots on the floor of the Democratic National Convention in Denver late in August.

Thank you, CNN!

Molly Weasley   May 8th, 2008 12:05 pm ET

These Clinton supporters are getting selfish and delusional. And Democratic office holders are getting angry, because donors have to keep giving to the Clinton and Obama campaigns, and they can't raise any money.

It's time to be positive and accept the inevitable. Support Obama, the Democratic nominee, and see what role Hillary Clinton might have in an Obama administration. VP? Cabinet post? Let them work it out and move on to challenging John McCain, who would be a disaster for the country.

Michelle, Indiana   May 8th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

If the supers do their job, threats like this will be a mute point. For the good of the party and this country, it's time the superdelegates removed the fence polls from their backsides and do what they were chosen to do – make a decision. They can put an end to this, but fearing repercussions, they won't do that. I think they need to look at the fact that their fear of making a decision brings their re-electability into question. Who wants a politician that can’t make a decision even with most of the facts already in and a clear choice to be made? If they can't take a little criticism for their choices, then they should not be in politics.

ralph tyler   May 8th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

I think Sources should keep innuendo to yourself. I agree with Pelosi, what harm can it do to Obama if Obama is winning. He should be very happy to have the fight go on. If he still wins, he is the better candidate, if he loses, he should'nt have been there in the first place. and the Democratic Party will have the strongest candidate.

The BULLYING, BLACKMAILING and THREATENING method – the next phase in the Clinton election tactic.

On Borrowed Time, Atlanta, GA   May 8th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

Mr. Weinstein should remember that a great many of those who patronize his films are the very folks who support Obama's candidacy. If he wants to create a backlash against him by threatening the Speaker in this manner, then by all means continue to cary water for Sen. Clinton's campaign. I think it is the feigned altruism over voter disenfranchisement that is the most bothersome component of the Clinton argument to seat the Florida and Michigan delegates. Where was her fervor when the decision was being made and she was agreeing to exclude those states from her campaign. Incredible!

BGIV in NC   May 8th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

IN ADDITION, IT MUST BE UNCONSTITUTIONAL FOR THE DEMOCRATS TO DISALLOW ANY STATE VOTES DURING A MAJOR PRIMARY FOR A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. IT'S ALL STUPID. THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS SO SCREWED UP; IT'S PITIFUL THAT ADULTS MAKE SUCH RIDICULOUS AND STUPID DECISIONS AND RULES! THEY ALL ACT LIKE THEY'RE IN HIGH SCHOOL.

This is exactly what obama is talking about! Same old dirty politics. Trying to buy an election. Pelosi needs to have a spine. Have some principles and don't fall to this deal. Keep going Hillary! Yes, this race is over but the last primary is June 3, 2008 and every vote we get will be a blessing! While you are at it – turn your attention to Mc Cain!

I hope Americans wake up and see what kind of person Clinton is. This is the type of people that are trying to put her in power, because obviously Clinton will be doing favors for him. Again, Clinton is trying to buy her way into the White House. She is revolting...I bet if America could vote again, it would be very different. I still don't know how a politician can lie over and over about something such as the sniper fire incident. If she can lie so freely about that, what else is she lying about? Obviously the tax break on gas is a load of it...But she doesn't want to listen to experts.

Please people wake up and let's end this already!

Boycott Weinstein...

KJ   May 8th, 2008 11:58 am ET

Good for Speaker Pelosi standing her ground and principles on not letting Mr. Weinstein intimidate her with his demands. I cannot believe the arrogance of this person after reading the article.
Can we please just put the Michigan and Florida "re-vote" behind us because both Senator Clinton and O'Bama understood the rules the DNC made months ago and the both of them agreed to it. Of course now that Senator Clinton is not going to be the nominee and she has known this for months, she wants to change the rules. I admire Politicians like Speaker Pelosi who are not influenced by a person's "status" in this country.....

this is a good example of who's really in charge... Clinton, and her supporters are everything that America is not about.. and now her next to last trick is out right race card. Pelosi, more than ever must now prove herself to the American people... and vote her convictions, if it is Obama, or Clinton she should do it now. Weinstein, will lose when the Clinton machine meets its timely death, it is clear that he is a great part of their machine and must be destroyed.

Dolores Viverette   May 8th, 2008 11:57 am ET

When I read things like this, I feel that the Democratic nomination is "for sale". Either Hillary will buy the nomination for herself, with her millions now and "pay herself back " when she's the President or she'll have people like Weinsein buy it for her. This corruption in the Democratic Party will cause people like me, who have never voted Republican in the past, to actually vote Republican in the Fall if the will of the people is overturned by back room politics.

John McHenry   May 8th, 2008 11:57 am ET

A lot of her supporters are willing to "finance" a revote, most notably Carville and Rendell. I wonder if her supporters are financing the results as well.

If Pelosi "embraces" this now she's no better than the rest of the dirty politicians out there. It's this kind of back room politics that convinces me even more that we need a change in Washington and that change is not going to come from Clinton.

Billy Gibbons in Houston   May 8th, 2008 11:56 am ET

This is scary stuff.
Rich people trying to buy the Speaker of the House of Representatives so a State vote counts?

If true, this is a scandal of greater magnitude that even Teapot Dome. We are not talking about money to a secretary of the interior for oil lands, this is about money to subvert the 3rd in line to the Presidency about counting State votes.

This is a HUGE SCANDAL. How dare someone even attempt this!

it's funny how clinton supporters claim that it's obama's fault for this whole michigan and florida thing. he played by the rules and removed his name from the ballot in mi, and did not campaign in both states. hillary broke party rules and left her name on the ballot. it's easy to win when you're the only one on the ballot, and people voted for you because your husband was a president. you can't bully your own party to change the rules and i think pelosi was right for not taking your crap. if you stayed off the ballot in michigan and didn't threaten the DNC in the first place, there would have been a revote. it's too late in the game to let these states count when it would waste valuable time in the GE. split the delegates 50/50 and call it a day.

GO HILLARY!!

Frank, Missouri   May 8th, 2008 11:51 am ET

Look at that photo of this guy ... Is that Lex Luther ? One of Clinton's Mafia friends for sure ...

Keep you money, buddy, and take a hike !

DJW   May 8th, 2008 11:51 am ET

Of all the nerve!!!!

So tell me what's the difference in George Bush stealing an election and you buying an election. If this happens the Dems just may as well fold up because their entire existence is done.

Niyi   May 8th, 2008 11:50 am ET

he must have lost his mind

Darth Vadik, CA   May 8th, 2008 11:50 am ET

Hillary voted for:

The war
The patrot act (twice)
Judge Robertson
Judge Alito
Irans army to be called a terrorist organization

If that is not a Republican I don't know what is.

Cant buy her time   May 8th, 2008 11:50 am ET

You see this is why we support Obama. He plays by the rules and he is whipping that behind. Hillary support are just using old political influence $$$ to buy her more time. If the Whipping was reversed they would have already thrown Obama under the Bus and backed back over him again. The Rules are the Rules beside Hillary supported the rules in the beginning.

Ostriches burying our heads in the sand   May 8th, 2008 11:50 am ET

Hmmm.......bullying tactics....backroom threats....it is a great day for American democracy!

Darrell   May 8th, 2008 11:50 am ET

He should pull his contrbutions I have I am from Florida and will not Contribute unless our votes are counted

Lee WV   May 8th, 2008 11:50 am ET

So they have turned to blackmail now. What is next ?Taking family members hostage? They are working on seating the Fla and Mich delegates but the Clinton campaign demand for it to be be unfairly and in a way that only benefits her.

FEDUP   May 8th, 2008 11:50 am ET

Obama is the one who refused a re-vote. Obama wants to win at all cost to the party and the country..

rumpusgoopus   May 8th, 2008 11:50 am ET

Meanwhile, Bill Clinton promises he will hold his breath until the superdelegates choose his wife as the nominee.

That would explain the red face, at least...

paul in memphis   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

your big bucks cannot overturn the will of the people.obama raised money in 5,20 25,50 from across the nation and build a strong empire,so you as an individual cannot overturn the people's choice

Joseph   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

I say to everyone out there. Howard Dean and the DNC have cheated everyone of their votes who voted for Hillary. This is not some stupid football game. By not allowing Michigan and Florida to be counted and not allowing all Americans votes to be heard they have in effect robbed you of your chance to have Hillary elected. While I can understand punishing the seating of the delegates I do not agree that the popular vote of ALL Americans should not be heard. I for one will be voting for McCain in November as a means to teach the DNC a lesson about letting every persons vote be heard. Bottom line. We all know that if Florida and Michigan were counted then the race would still be up to either candidate. I urge you to teach the DNC a lesson and vote for McCain.

Frank   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

Her administration will be worse than the current. I can't believe that they are blackmailing the speaker of the house.

Lonny, Seattle   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

Whats the problem with her leaning towards Obama?
She is a super D and has the right to pick whomever she wants.

The shame is that she has to hide her preference because of the backlash of Clintons supporters.

That to me says the Clintons have waaay to much power that needs to be kept in check.

Bitter Allen Hussein, Visalia CA   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

After over 16 years of the White House being in the hands of monied special interests, it is time for a change. Come on Nancy, call Billary on her extortion and tell her to pound sand.

Donj, NJ   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

More arm twisting from the Clinton camp. Too bad it's over.

MoreOftenthanNot   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

So its either make it so Hillary has a better chance at winning the nomination or I'm cutting you off? Hmm. It seems the will of the American people isn't a major concern but the will of Hillary's people is what matters most. I'm sure all of her deep pocket donors stand to benefit a great deal if she gets the nomination and later elected. Same old Washington politics at work.

Gerry In Toronto   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

Doesn't this creep understand, it's the people that have funded the Obama campaign, millions of them.

Obama and the democratic party no longer need to pander to creeps like this. Pelosi was right to tell this creep toa take a flying leap. No one can BUY the presidency, not even the Clinton's.

Not this time. Not any longer.

CA for Obama   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

And why would a rich jerk like you pay for changing rules that everybody agreed upon befor ethe game starts?, probably because it might work out for Billary's benefit, and it's probably in your interest to have her in the office so she can be your puppet, that will also mean that a rich jerk like you want to change what millions of americans voted for, to hell with democracy and welcome to a third world corruption mentality. Mr,.. Whatever, your deep pockets won't change what americans believe in, Change. Mr. Whever, Democracy doesn't need your money, it needs TRUTH, and that's what billary lacks.
In fact, i'm going to donate $50 to Obama's campaign right.
Obama, 08, 12

Darrell   May 8th, 2008 11:49 am ET

Florida and Michigan both have a right to revote this is America and all votes should be counted you can not have a convention with 48 states Last Time I looked we had 50 states

WorldObserver   May 8th, 2008 11:48 am ET

About the revote thing, in fairness to all if Obama side has not weighed in their votes (where they missed out on voting), then there shall be a re-opening contest again.

But I also agree that America shall not ignore the voices of these 2 states. After all, it is 50 not 48, made of America.

Obama shall step out to support such move, and not keeping silent.

A vote for change is always there. If both are genuine good leaders, their voices shall be heard.

The world always believe Democrats hold the better masterplan for America and this world.

Stop generating hatred by dis-engaging direct confrontation at this time. You have fought for the freedom of Iraq and Afghan. It is time to withdraw and let the present government handle it.

We truly respect and support America for their great sacrifices.

About the loss of war funds, I hope the World Bank can do something about it apart from Iraq oil revenues. The world has to give something back to America anyway so that their reasons are being appreciated.

Out of Control   May 8th, 2008 11:48 am ET

This guy is utterly ridiculous. The entire Clinton Campaign are a bunch of losers that will do anything, even at all costs, to win. Pelosi should smash this threat, and take control of the party before things get out of hand.

Florida and Michigan were too stupid to follow the rules. It's amazing that no one ever thought about the consequences of the rules when they were made, and agreed upon. It's only when things do not work out that people pay attention. Did Clinton, Michigan, and stupid Florida think the DNC were joking?

DELMARVA   May 8th, 2008 11:48 am ET

Mr. Weinstein, please stick to moviemaking and out of politics.

You can try to "slow the flow of donations" to the DNC, but it won't work. If you had clout like that as Hillary's supporter, her campaign coffers would be overflowing, but they're not. You are old-school.

Obama has no problem bankrolling his campaign with donations from the little people. When Obama is declared the nominee, the DNC will also benefit from their support.

Turn the page.

Shasta   May 8th, 2008 11:48 am ET

Hopefully the DNC will stay strong and show that money can't buy votes.

Maria   May 8th, 2008 11:47 am ET

Another jerk from Clintons camp..

Johnny Cadelco   May 8th, 2008 11:47 am ET

I smell corruption. Clearly Clinton can't win but then again super delegates are saying she has a chance??? Is this a democracy or dictatorship because the majority has already voted for Obama. But then again you can always take it away like Bush did to Gore ;) . This is insane.

Jay   May 8th, 2008 11:47 am ET

Nope, money doesn't influence policy at all in America ... in the words of the 70's generation: tell him to take his money and shove it!

Seattle ja   May 8th, 2008 11:44 am ET

Unbelievable. Glad this is getting coverage in the MSM. This is exactly the sort of "buying of the gov't" and "old politics" which Senator Obama righteously wants to end.

wwf   May 8th, 2008 11:44 am ET

That does it. Screw them. If this does not show the world just what type of people the Clinton and some of her supporters are capable of I don't know what does. Can't win the election? Just buy it! Just who is the elitist in this campaign? First she borrows her camaign money twice, but will ask her supporters to pay her back. Now they are trying to bully the campagn with money. If the DNC does not tell them where to go, I will become the first registerd Republican in my families history. I was for some sort of compromise, but not more. They broke the rules of which they signed. Let them eat the copies of those rules.
Super Delegates, you have to put an end to this now! To kkkkk with her feelings.

Hey Pelosi, you want to see "Disenfrancisement"! Go ahead with the revotes in Mich and Fla! Confirm for the rest of the country that the DNC's rules don't mean anything and that you CAN be bought!

AJ   May 8th, 2008 11:43 am ET

I wish him luck Pelosi has made her hatred for Hillary Clinton quite apparent. Pelosi is the most do nothing speaker we have had in my lifetime and she's getting involved in electoral politics? I wish Senator Clinton would dump the Democrats and go Independent. The Democratic leadership has treated her shamefully. I'm jumping parties and voting straight ticket Republican if Obama is the nominee and urge all Clinton supporters to do the same. Give the leadership the thumbs down!

Theresa, Ohio   May 8th, 2008 11:43 am ET

I am sick n tired of this woman and her delusional supporters.

Good. Maybe some moderate Republican's might give the Democratic nominee a more serious second look.

hans solo   May 8th, 2008 11:43 am ET

"We have been strong supporters of the DCCC," the fundraisers wrote to Pelosi. "We therefore urge you to clarify your position on superdelegates and reflect in your comments a more open view to the optional independent actions of each of the delegates at the National Convention in August."

Go choke yourself Weinstein.

Michael   May 8th, 2008 11:43 am ET

I use to work for Weinstein's company. He is one of the biggest bully's in the business. I have not doubt that he threatened Pelosi. What's the matter Harvey, your candidate cant not win on her own? The people now run the democratic party with almost 2 million donors. We don't need you or your tactics any longer. BYE BYE

Kevin - ID   May 8th, 2008 11:43 am ET

Supporting McCain in the national is one thing, why would Clinton supporters want to make the Democrats lose Congressional seats if Clinton doesn't get the nomination? And who thinks that intimidating Pelosi actually works?! I hope Pelosi sends him running with his tail between his legs.

The ATL   May 8th, 2008 11:42 am ET

This actually explains a lot-although it is disturbing. It explains Hill's comments about crushing Iran. It also highlights how power and influence are always tied to money.

Rob-BC Canada   May 8th, 2008 11:42 am ET

So ,now that democracy doesn't work the Clinton campaign will try extortion and black mail.Sad and growing sadder by the minute.

United States That Matter   May 8th, 2008 11:42 am ET

Gary, Los Angeles   May 8th, 2008 11:41 am ET

Hang in there Hillary Clinton. The Democratic Party wants you to bow out of the race, and as soon as you do – they're going to count Florida and Michigan, whose numbers would have allowed you to catch up. Then, they'll look like the good guys all around.

We're Americans Hillary. Play to the end. The Democratic Party is known for their underhandedness. That's why they lose every four years – expect when your husband was in office. I'm now an Independent because of this.

Voice for a fairer America.

These are the Clinton "kool-aid" drinkers who are living in lala land. They've contributed soo much to a loosing campaign that they want to win at all cost so they can get the shady contracts (just like Huliburton) to repay their loans.

Well it's too late now. The train is left the station.

Worried Democrat and former Clinton supporter   May 8th, 2008 11:38 am ET

how ridiculous is this sorry excuse for a american women?? She should be ashamed of herself for trying to pit whites against black to create a racial divide. At this point, I pray to god that Hillary supporters hear her repeated divisive comments and start jumping ship. We has democrats stand up for something that Hillary no longer believes in. There isn't any semblance of dignity in this women. The only way she knows how to campaign is to try to tear down Obama and the democratic party. I would respectfully urge clinton supporters who are my fellow democrats to do what's good for our party and give Obama a chance. His policies are 95% the same as clintons and he seems to be a more genuine person.

"Weinstein also suggested that if Democratic leaders "did not fix" the Florida and Michigan problem, powerful Democrats may abandon the eventual party nominee in favor of Sen. John McCain"

Democrats who do this are acting like children. Come on...if your candidate doesn't get the nod, you're going to give Bush a 3rd term? Either juvenile actions or empty threats.

Let's come together and end the Republican mismanagement!
