Sources: Clinton supporter pressures Pelosi

Sources say Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut contributions to congressional Democrats.
Sources say Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut contributions to congressional Democrats.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Hillary Clinton supporter Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut off contributions to congressional Democrats unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi embraced his plan to finance revotes in Florida and Michigan, three officials familiar with their conversation said.

Weinstein and Pelosi talked on the phone late last month, the sources said.

The three officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk publicly about the conversation.

They said Weinstein, a top supporter of Clinton's presidential campaign, appeared determined to buy Clinton more time in her battle against Sen. Barack Obama by pushing for the revote. He was also pressing Pelosi to back off her previous comments that superdelegates should support the candidate who's leading in pledged delegates in early June, the sources said.

It appears that a Hillary Presidency would make Bush's look like paradise.

Hmm. A big contributor is using his leverage as a donor to push for a special interest.

People with money who then want power.... all the more reason to vote for Obama.

Pelosi should tell him to take his funds & stick 'em! With Obama running, the power is in the hands of the American people.

Powerful media moguls trying to change the outcome of an election. Who does he think he is, William Randolph Hearst?

I won't be seeing another Weinstein movie for awhile.

Okay, last month they wanted to seat the delegates "as is". Now that they realize she would still be a good 100 delegates behind, they want a re-vote. If I were them, I wouldn't push this action. They may get a surprise they did not expect.

This is EXACTLY why we don't want the Clinton machine back.

Clintons follow the rules? You're joking me. Same Washington crap as usual.

And Harvey, instead of cutting off the Democrats (Clinton) cashflow, how about cutting back on the Twinkies!

Not surprising at all! All she can do now is try to smear him! And that has already started. The Clintons are risking losing a lot more than just the nomination, they are going to lose all of their respect, dignity, trust, admiration. Oh... I think they already lost those things.

    DROP OUT NOW BILLARY!!!!!!!!!

Blackmail is not the way to win an election. It's called a democracy for a reason, even if your candidate doesn't get the nomination.

"Weinstein also suggested that if Democratic leaders "did not fix" the Florida and Michigan problem, powerful Democrats may abandon the eventual party nominee in favor of Sen. John McCain"

Democrats who do this are acting like children. Come on...if your candidate doesn't get the nod, you're going to give Bush a 3rd term? Either juvenile actions or empty threats.

Let's come together and end the Republican mismanagement!

Oh, I don't like where all this is going... Our party is heading towards disaster!
Superdelegates / Al Gore need to step in before it gets ugly and McBush cruises to a 3rd Bush Term....

As an Obama supporter, I don't even want to get into this... Just stop it for the sake of the party!!! Please!

how ridiculous is this sorry excuse for a american women?? She should be ashamed of herself for trying to pit whites against black to create a racial divide. At this point, I pray to god that Hillary supporters hear her repeated divisive comments and start jumping ship. We has democrats stand up for something that Hillary no longer believes in. There isn't any semblance of dignity in this women. The only way she knows how to campaign is to try to tear down Obama and the democratic party. I would respectfully urge clinton supporters who are my fellow democrats to do what's good for our party and give Obama a chance. His policies are 95% the same as clintons and he seems to be a more genuine person.

    thank you

These are the Clinton "kool-aid" drinkers who are living in lala land. They've contributed soo much to a loosing campaign that they want to win at all cost so they can get the shady contracts (just like Huliburton) to repay their loans.

Well it's too late now. The train is left the station.
