John Edwards said the math isn't working in Clinton's favor.
John Edwards said the math isn't working in Clinton's favor.

(CNN) – John Edwards still isn’t backing a candidate in this year’s Democratic primary race – but it looks like he might be ready to pick a winner.

The former presidential candidate told interviewers on NBC and MSNBC that Barack Obama will probably top the Democratic ticket this fall.

Hillary Clinton has said that she can still win the nomination – but "it's very difficult to make the math work," said Edwards.

Which one of the remaining contenders is best-equipped to beat presumptive Republican nominee John McCain? Edwards tried to avoid picking between the two – then chose Obama, because he said the Illinois senator was the probable Democratic nominee.

He added that he worried the continuing campaign could take a toll on the party’s presidential chances. “I think it’s fine for Hillary to keep making the case for her,” said the former North Carolina senator. “But when that shifts to everything that is wrong with him, then we’re doing damage instead of being helpful.”

Edwards has been heavily wooed by both the Clinton and Obama campaigns since he ended his presidential run in January, but has not publicly endorsed either candidate.

It will be over by March 20. There really is no need to say she has a chance. In competitive sports, once a team has clinched their division because there are not enough games left to play that would put in other team in front of them, they call them the division winners. There are more games left, but mathematically they cannot lose. That is what we have here. This was a seven game series. Obama has already won 4-2. At this point, the 7th game does not matter. All you need to win is 4. It's over hillary clinton. I think you know that, but you still want him to lose to McCain for your own selfish reasons. Like running again in '12. If you really cared about us as much as you say, you would not deny us the healthcare we all need so badly and jobs and to bring our troops home for at least 4 more year just so you can have a chance to fulfill a personal goal of your own.

NoMcSame   May 9th, 2008 10:49 am ET

To all Hillary supporters,
If you don't vote for Obama it is ok with us. You will be you shooting yourself in the foot come November and then see what McSame will do for you if he wins. Obama played by the rules and is not trying to change the rules of the game while in the middle of it. Where was Hillary's cry for FL and MI when the DNC first ruled against them?
The truth of the matter is that your are letting your racist feelings toward Obama get in the way of rational thinking. So, you are free to vote for McBush McSame if you want as a matter of fact I earned my DD214 fighting for your right to do that. I will make it and maybe in the process suffer too but it will not be because I put the gun to my own head but you in your case might as well put your shoe on backwards and bend your knee as far as you can and as many times as you can if you vote for McSame. America true colors will be expose this year and it will show that the spots are still there.
So go ahead and make our day because in the end Obama his wife and their children will still be better off than most of you hate filled racist. As they say, only the UNeducated whites vote for Hillary and many of you will do the same for McSame. You could have went to Harvard just like Obama did but you didn't so what does that make you? They tell you every day that the weak and the uneducated Whites vote for Hillary and by saying that you are going to vote for McSame if Hillary doesn't proves them right.

jay nyc   May 9th, 2008 10:49 am ET

I was so offended by Hillary Clintons comment about getting "hard working people, white people" to vote for her. I'm African-American and I actually voted for her to become my Senator in NY. However, I voted for OBAMA in the primary because he has the best chance to win the election in the fall and put this nation back on the right track. I'm not white, but I AM HARD WORKING - put myself through undergrad and graduate school (twice) - so Clinton needs to stop her divisive rhetoric and get with the program. OBAMA WILL BE AMERICA'S NEXT PRESIDENT. Let's rally together democrats, independents, and Obamacans alike, to make America whole again. NO MORE BUSH and no way to MacSame - OBAMA 2008

Chinyere   May 9th, 2008 10:50 am ET

Why don't you just endorse Obama?

virginialiving   May 9th, 2008 10:50 am ET

John, it's not hillary but the DNC and our party leadership that did themselves in. Unity was 'stolen' long before Hillary made the contest interesting?

wwf   May 9th, 2008 10:51 am ET

Finally, there's the stubborn little fact that Clinton completely opposed recognizing Michigan and Florida until after the primaries–i.e., when she realized she might need their delegates to win the nomination. "It's clear that this election they're having [in Michigan] is not going to count for anything," she said during an interview with New Hampshire Public Radio in October 2007. She wasn't alone. Two months earlier, Clinton adviser Harold Ickes actually voted to strip the rogue states of their delegates as a member of the DNC's Rules and Bylaws committee–"to prevent the gaming of the system," he said. Later than fall, Patti Solis Doyle, then Clinton's campaign manager, pledged not to compete in either contest–and was unequivocal as well. "We believe Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina play a unique and special role in the nominating process… and the DNC's rules and its calendar provide the necessary structure to respect and honor that role," she said. "Thus, we will… adhere to the DNC-approved nominating calendar." And when Michigan pushed for an early vote in 2004, then-DNC chairman–and current Clinton aide–Terry McAuliffe put his foot down. "If I allow you to do that, the whole system collapses," McAuliffe said (at least according to his memoir)."The closest [Michigan's delegates will] get to Boston will be watching it on television. I will not let you break this entire nominating process for one state. The rules are the rules." But when Clinton "won" Michigan on Jan. 15–and presumably caught a glimpse of the polling that showed her well ahead in Florida–she quickly changed her tune. "I believe our nominee will need the enthusiastic support of Democrats in these states to win the general election," she said on Jan. 25. "And so I will ask my Democratic convention delegates to support seating the delegations from Florida and Michigan." Ickes, Solis Doyle and McAuliffe immediately fell in line.

Thank you John Edwards…for telling the truth that OBAMA will win…

I see Edwards making a great FEMA Director so there wont be no more Hurricane Katrina messups, so we will be sure that those in need will get help

Elisabeth   May 9th, 2008 10:53 am ET

Hillary should run as an independent!

Orville   May 9th, 2008 10:54 am ET

John Edwards should practice what he preaches! If he is concerned for the party, then he should endorse Obama!

JDS N.C.   May 9th, 2008 10:54 am ET

Get a spine Johnny and endorse someone. He is acting the way the folks down here in NC knew of him. He waffles and tries to have it both ways. He did a 360* from when he ran as a Senator to his present Prez run. He wants a job with HRC or Obama. Likely he wants the AG job.

Inevitable   May 9th, 2008 10:54 am ET

Saw the video clip .. from the subliminal messages i believe he voted for Clinton .. and as he said he will endorse who he voted for …

But then again … he could have voted for Obama … looking at the video clip … he was trying to send a subliminal message to Clinton …. he expressed she is tough and is genuine … but he was really proclaiming to Hilary he was sorry IMO … for voting for Obama and will endorse him …

I believe Mrs Edwards & Mr Edwards voted for two different candidates …

Mike Jones   May 9th, 2008 10:54 am ET

a vote for McSame = rolling back Roe vs. Wade. All the Hillary backers chew on that.

brewpark   May 9th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Dear John, I have been a supporter of yours since 2004 and have always thought you should have topped the ticket back then. John, my allegence has changed sorry to say and know Obama is my man. I just wish that you could have been man enough to step forward and endorse him so as to help put a stop to Hilary's madness.

peace   May 9th, 2008 10:56 am ET

I wish Edwards was the nominee last time.

He would have won.

Rick   May 9th, 2008 10:57 am ET

He will back Obama, it is just a matter of time. Obama will be the next President of the United States. He is the future and McCain is a reflection of the past ! We need change bad in Washington.

Rebecca   May 9th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Edwards wants a cabinet position and until Hillary is completey dead he doesn't want to take any chances that might piss her off. If by some miracle she steals this election there will be vengeance to pay for anyone who didn't side with her. There political careers would be over if she becomes president. Edwards knows this and is afraid to make a move until he knows Hillary is dead and buried.

Billy from Fl.   May 9th, 2008 10:57 am ET

He has not chosen a canadate yet, because I don't think he

really likes either one.

FLORIDA Voter for Barack Obama   May 9th, 2008 10:57 am ET

We've BEEN trying to tell her that John but she's too emotionally attached to the "idea" of being president. She has to understand that if she steals the nomination the dem's will surely lose in November due to the uproar it would cause within the party.

Kenneth Texas   May 9th, 2008 10:58 am ET

I know John Edwards really does not want to do the VP thing again but I sure would like to see him on the ticket. That would sure put that "white men" only supporting Clinton to rest real fast.

FedUpDem   May 9th, 2008 10:58 am ET

Not making the left turn he wants. His path has already divided the party and his nomination and landslide loss will destroy it. Then maybe we can form a third party of moderates from both parties and the radical racists and educated elite with no intelligence or common sense can have their Dem Party, because its no longer mine and I will vote AGAINST this racist liar and his supporters because I believe their damage will be much worse than what the Republicans can inflict for another 2-6 years. I hope they take the House and Senate as well as slamming this racist down.

proud army and navy mom   May 9th, 2008 11:00 am ET

Ostriches burying our heads in the sand   May 9th, 2008 11:00 am ET

I watched the interview…Edwards said that he might still endorse….but based on what he said it seemed like he is waiting for the last few contests to take place….I think we will hear from him after June 3rd….

AZM   May 9th, 2008 11:01 am ET

With the hypocracy that Obama has shown I (and the many people in my circle) cannot vote for him… We would sooner vote for McCain than risk having someone ashamed of America in the whitehouse.

Hillary is done. And even more since she is making this a race issue. Whites vote for her and Blacks for Obama. She gets the catholic votes, come on. I am a senior citizen, catholic and white and have been for Obama from the start. it's over Hillary, you are making a fool of yourself. She don't know when to quit, sure glad she won't be answering the phone at 3am. people like her is what keeps this country divided. Race should not be an issue in campaigns anymore. She is dividing the races as well as the party.

Chuck, Oregonians for Obama   May 9th, 2008 11:03 am ET

I completely agree with Edwards. Let her keep campaigning, but stick to her platform. It is time to stop the negative, focus on the positive, make her pitch, and hope for the best. Negative will only hurt her in the long run as it will only cause more damage to the Clinton name and reputation.

Lee WV   May 9th, 2008 11:03 am ET

No solutions to any of the problems that face us.
How does he think he can fix the problems of Bush presidency when he has not done anything in his political career?

Why would you hire BO for the most difficult job in the world??

OBAMA 08….and beyond

Mike   May 9th, 2008 11:10 am ET

Edwards if the DNC held primaries like the GOP does and the general election Hillary would have already won.

The fact is that Obama is the nominee he will not beat McCain. If you use recent history as a prime example it proves it. Kerry in 2004 could not beat Bush of all people and you Edwards was included in that. Kerry a war hero could not beat AWOL failed president Bush.

Now Obama a non military person with anti-America friends all around him is going to beat a war hero like McCain?

And Obama cant even win the critical swing states that Hillary has.

Wake up to reality. The DNC is going to back the wrong horse this time and lose again.

maria   May 9th, 2008 11:10 am ET

don't be afraid Edwards, the wife won't bite you, don't k let her influence you, i now you love her, but come on.. a man must speak for himself.

Obama is the nominee.

Hillary can do no more damage… she has lost her power.

Obama will win regardless of how many Hillary supporters flock to McCain. Obama is gaining new voters and republicans left and right. He doesn't need the disloyal Hillary supporters.

Edwards… I understand why you wont endorse… You don't want to endorse the candidate who will not win. As soon as it is crystal clear who will win, you will endorse him (Obama). (Cluck Cluck… Chicken… ;)

Go Obama!

Independent   May 9th, 2008 11:11 am ET

Sen Edwards, it is time for you to endorse a candidate. Please don't play this cat and mouse game. Remember, Americans want change, honesty and integrity.
Endorse your candidate now! Obama 08

Honestly, Obama does not need the endorsement from John Edward anymore. He's waited too long so he can just keep it to himself.

SusanM.   May 9th, 2008 11:11 am ET

Hillary is a deeply divisive candidate. I am white but I was deeply offended by her comments that she represents hard working "whites." So nobody else is hard working? I am also not a fan of Al Sharpton..be he is right..Hillary is like an entertainer who doesn't know when the show is over and it's time to exit stage left.

I really believe she will suffer from severe depression after this. She truly doesn't know how to handle defeat. She is already trying to destroy the party..ensure McCain wins and she will be back in 2012. No kidding..look at her record of lies..She is like Lady MacBeth.

Is this all about "women" OR about the ego of Hillary to admit defeat? I rest my case!

Chris from San Antonio   May 9th, 2008 11:12 am ET

It only works if you use Hillary's math. Which considers "ifs" like "if we used a system like the GOP, Hillary would be the winner, " or "if we only counted the big states" or " if there were no caucuses."

fedia   May 9th, 2008 11:12 am ET

Please do not endorse him after Hillary is gone……

mile   May 9th, 2008 11:12 am ET

John Edwards never had any intention of backing Hillary. He's another one. John Edwards is like every other backstabber - he's looking for a job. I so hope the remaining superdeligates get a spine and vote for who can beat John Mccain and not just a person who "inspires" everyone. Inspiration gets nothing done. Hope doesn't get anything done - Obama cannot win. I vote Mccain if Hillary doesn't get a fair shake.

Independent99999   May 9th, 2008 11:12 am ET

Now I understand why Edwards never made it in elections and could not carry NC for Kerry!.

He cannot decide anything. How can he be wavering at this time when the party needs unity and he needs to set strong leadership to get behind the nominee President Barack

Fantasia   May 9th, 2008 11:12 am ET

yes we all know it is tough!

but is it impossible???

you never know what would be until you try…so the race must go on!

so Obama reaches the number 2025 then the race is over…it will be a sweet victory for him and a GRACEFUL loss for her. You don't quit midway.

Go HILLARY! ALL THE WAY. I am will you all the way.

Belle   May 9th, 2008 11:12 am ET

I REALLY REALLY hate how Obama and his supporters TWIST Clinton's words for their OWN benefit, throw down the RACE card at EVERY single Clinton supporter that would choose McCain.

For some of us, experience REALLY does matter. If Powell were running for President, I would vote for HIM over Obama. If the Mayor of Philly were running, I would vote for HIM over Obama.

You just don't get it….while you have literally CRUCIFIED Clinton during this entire campaign….calling HER a racist is beyond forgiveness! Especially when she has devoted HER ENTIRE life to helping the poor, the uninsured, the folks that could not afford legal help, and yes, minorities in America.

I would love to see Clinton go Independant. Obama supporters have done NOTHING to help bridge the divide…neither has Obama. Why on earth should we have ANY LOYALTY to a party that discounted 2.5 million voters, called us racists, and every other name in the book, simply because we picked Clinton over Obama?

Shelly from WI   May 9th, 2008 11:12 am ET

West Virginia and Kentucky is having their primaries next week. Why have we NOT heard about the GAS TAX being suspended for the summer by Hillary for these people?

If it was such a great idea and on the up and up by Hillary, for the pople of Indiana and NC, then surely the people of KY and WV needs this great savings too.

See, Hillary is a panderer and since it didn't work in IN and NC, she has abandoned it.

It was never a real or valid idea in the first place.

Get Real Folks, its time to get behind the Democratic party before McCain change the Supreme Court in a awful way that we ALL will be living though for the next 25-20 years.

Try again, he accidentally said "I just voted for him on Tuesday…" Now, you may think Hillary has "testicular fortitude", but as far as I know she is still referred to as "her" not "him".

Edwards is with Jimmy Carter - voting for Obama, but not going to declare it. Fortunately, we don't need his declaration, just his vote :)

SHIRLEY-OHIO   May 9th, 2008 11:13 am ET

Your endorment does not matter anymore you took too long to endorse. It does not take a rocket sciencist to know which candidate is good for this country. We all know its Obama because he wants to change Washingon and does not want to use the old tactics that Washington has been using, I know you can relate to that. Obama won you state by 14% points and you still have not endorsed. You can keep those 39 delegates because they are of no use to anybody now.

Hillary offends me every time she opens her mouth and even tho I am an Obamacan, I would most definitely vote (not for Hillary) but AGAINST McSame.

I agree with "NoMsSame" that some people will let their racist ways prevent them from doing what's right for this damaged country. It's got to stop and if Hillary was the one to do it, she would be winning. Can we move on please?

The Breck-girl is a loser as well. He builds an incredible mansion while he fights for the 'little people'. If Hillary wants to continue running then let her. She has a chance at votes like anyone else and who knows what may pop up next about Hussein Obama. Obviously, neither one of them is qualified to become Preident and the election of either will probably lead us down a path to major job loss, manufacturing loss, and depression. But, I'm sure 'change' will be abundant and we'll see the goverment taking more from the so-called 'rich' to give to the 'needy'. What happened to "..but what you can do for your country"?

Sandi   May 9th, 2008 11:15 am ET

To All Democrats:
I was always for Obama, but if Hillary was the one that was winning, I WOULD have voted for her because we need ABSOLUTELY NEED to have a Democrat in the White House. Obama and Clinton really arent that much different in their policies…virtually the same, but McCain on the other hand is a 3rd term for Bush. Look what the last 7 years have brought this nation. This party needs to rally together, no matter who is the democratic nominee to take control of the country again. We just have to, or we are not only facing a recession, but a major depression.

This is one of the many reasons why I will never vote for Obama. You turn things into a matter of race when it has nothing to do with race. It has to do with experience and judgement. If Hillary does not win because peoples votes in Michigan and Florida were not counted then I would rather have McCain than Obama. McCain will not be another Bush. He has gone across party lines to get things done more often than Hillary and far more often than Obama. Obama has earned the title of the most liberal senator last year. His record shows that he has very little instances of working across party lines, the same as John Kerry in 2004. When you look at America's views as a line, Obama is to the far left, Hillary is to the left yet has moved towards the middle more often if it was the right thing to do for America, and John McCain is on the right, yet has moved towards the left at times. I believe McCain has far more experience and better judgement than Obama. Stop turning it into a matter of race. You show your true lack of understanding.

America is going to make a big mistake if Obama becomes the nominee for November's election. If he wins and becomes the president, America will not only be in a big chaos financially, but also will put the US of A in a big shamble for religion. No..not amongst Christians but Christians against other major religion. Besides, Obama is just a hype, and Americans tend to always ride on the HYPE. Think twice people, America is in big mess and all you need is someone who can save it from a deeper distress. Iam not endorsing any of the other 2 candidates, but in November, I will vote not for the hype, but for the truth. Truth will set America free again from it's present situation.

Chut Pata   May 9th, 2008 11:15 am ET

Right on John. I was your supporter before you dropped out of the race and then decided to join Obama as the second choice. However I was disappointed in your not supporting Obama.

If Hillary had not gone negative, this contest would have brought the best in Obama and prepared him well to face McCain. However all she has done is to damage Obama to make him unelectable against McCain so she can be elected in 2012.

Edward's the Man who should be our next president,

I voted for Hill in our states Fed 12 primary. I Knew, even-before the PA, primary, by crunching the numbers Hill would need at least 60% across the board, and for all other remaining primaries to win the nomination.

Only the GOP controlled press has kept her alive. And all those pretending they would vote only for Hill and not Obama in Nov, are really Republicans, who will vote for 4 more years of McBush

Janet Johnson   May 9th, 2008 11:15 am ET

Hey folks there is not a tax Obama does not like - remember that. He wants the UN to tax Americans 845 Million for CO2; it's his bill.
Here in Mn we put in Democrats as we were upset w/Republicans and now everyone is crying about all the new taxes this 2008 session - it's almost heartless. Hey, we get to subsidize a Baseball Stadium too @ one half percent (beyond 42 cents higher gas tax here along wfive other tax raises) - how nice we are honored to help a rich billionaire who has more money then he could spend in 20 lifetimes.

Unforuntately the Repoublicans are obscene too in their greed - so no good choice these days.

FL, you screwed your own voting process in 2000 and gave us:

8 years of Bush

The IRAQ war

$4 gas

loss of social security in 2040

A national debt that would cost each American over $30,000 to pay off

Please don't do it again, you screwed up your own voting process again in 2008 and you can only blame yourself.

Is it too late to give FL back to Spain???

TKB from DC   May 9th, 2008 11:16 am ET

Yes, it's about over.

What I don't understand is how can she seriously believe she has truly won MI and FL, when Hillary and Obama their delegate would not be included since they broke the rules?

How can she change the rules to suit her needs? How would she react if the shoe was on the other foot? Also, it they did have both names on the ballet in Florida, but not in Michigan, how could she say she won Michigan?

Please, I am beggin anyone…explain that to me!

When Obama becomes the nominee and the Democrats lose in November it will NOT be Clinton's fault. The Democrats will have, once again, chosen an unelectable candidate. Obama is nothing but smoke and mirrors with no substance and no experience. Also, Hillary is 100% correct when she says she has the white vote. This is a fact whether you like it or not. McCain will win in November and the Democratic party will be history.

Remember the saying, "If you do not stand for something, then you will fall for anything/" Well, he could not make a stand.

No to Sen. Edwards as VP. He is not strong enough to make a decision, therefore we do not need anyone that will just sit there holding a space.

At this point, it really doesn't matter much whom Edwards endorses, or whether he endorses anyone. Most of the votes are in and the nomination all but in the bag. However, I do think less of Edwards for not having repudiated Sen. Clinton's statements about race in her interview with USA Today.

Maxine   May 9th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Edwards is afraid to make a commitment in case the SD over ride the American people. This isn't done people, Hillary and Bill know where "bodies" are buried and have let certain SD know that…..SD will over rule the people's vote….mark my word.

Obama keep on fighting for your right to run as President. I admire him for not backing down to the Clinton dinesty. Let's hope more people like Andrews and Richardson stand up on their own two feet and make the right choice. These men have guts to go against the Clintons…..

The people trashing John Edwards right now are morons. This man ran a fair, positive, and thoughtful campaign. Grow up before you chase anymore people out of the Democratic Party.

Edwards is simply stating a fact. What is wrong with all of you fanatic Hillary supports? Get a grip and realize that is over.

Hillary fought hard and dirty, but lost to a huge underdog. Give the man credit for winning while not fighting dirty and understand that they support the same issues and Mcain is the opposite.

Why would you want to pay more for health care and have more Iraq war????

Allen deLuca - Florida   May 9th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Edwards has not endorsed Obama because he at least has the sense to know what a disaster B.O. would be for our country. I am a huge Obama suporter, and I beleive that he is the democratic party's best shot of getting into the White House. However, as this race continues, I am becoming more and more fearful that our party is being destroyed from the top down. I think it's pretty much inevitable that Obama will be our nominee, but given the damage that has already been done, if we want a seat in the White House, Obama needs to have a very strong VP canidate (that's not HRC). McCain's supporters should not do anything just to make Obama the nominee for democrats, thinking that their candidate would have a better chance of winning when going against Obama than Clinton This is not a good campaign trick because America will miss a good and better chance of having a president who can really do its backyard clean up. For the delegates, this is not hollywood, use ur prefences wisely. Don't go with fame, and sink the boat deeply. Don't deprive America it's right of electing for the right candidate in November.

REPORT THE NEWS!!!! Obama's support in WV drops below Bush's approval rating to 23% in latest ARG poll.

In response to "NoMcSame"…
Shooting ourselves in the foot? Putting B.H. Obama in office is shooting ourselves in the foot… Bringing the party together? You sir are a perfect example of why the party is separated, it's called an egotistical attitude.

You just made me want to vote for McCain… Idiot..

We may be seeing the early stages of the development of a viable Independent Party. The Democrats have become a splintered group that connot come together. The Rebublicans have problems as well. These last two Bush Administrations have let people down. However, Republicans are still a fairly united, motivated group and will more than likely retain the White House– but I think the seeds are being sown and wouldn't be surprised to see many Democrats and Republicans alike to unite as Independents in 2012.

Pretty decent guy.

Vietnam vet for Obama!   May 9th, 2008 11:34 am ET

The writing has long been on the wall. Not only has Obama run a better campaign, he is clearly the better candidate to be the next president of the U.S. He will be the Democratic candidate in 2008 and the president of the U.S. in 2009. For the good of the party–and the country–Edwards should endorse him now. Allowing Senator Clinton to continue making a fool of herself and wreaking havoc on Democratic and democratic principles may jeopardize the much needed change in this country.

Perhaps if Edwards endorses Obama, Clinton would find a way to restore her dignity and bow out gracefully.

Duane in Philly   May 9th, 2008 11:35 am ET

There is no "math" involved here. Neither candidate will have 2025 pledged delegates at the end of the primaries, so according to the insane system created by the democrats, the superdelegates decide who will be the nominee. If (as many democrats are saying) the superdelegates should vote based on who has the most pledged delegates, then why have superdelegates??

Diane   May 9th, 2008 11:35 am ET

John Edwards endorsement of Obama could drive the point home to Clinton that she needs to get out of the race, sooner than later, and would be a wonder feather in his political legacy hat. At this point Clinton's running only serves to drive deep divisions in the party that will need time and her campaigning for Obama to mend. Does this mean she is defeated? By no stretch of the imagination. She has inspired and impressed men, women, and children around the world. However, that admiration that could serve to help her future endeavors could sour if she persists in these fruitless effort to win against impossible odds.

Belle   May 9th, 2008 11:35 am ET

Almost laughable….Obama supporters call for Clinton to drop out of the race and UNITE the party.

But OBAMA is the one who started the PERSONAL Character ATTACKS on Clinton, which divided the PARTY!!!

Where is the great uniter now?

I hope that all the college students who have given up their status of being dependants by establishing a legal residence away from their parents home realize that if they continue to be carried by their parents insurance (both medical and auto) and receive certian financial aid are committing fraud. This is how the election was stolen by Obama since these are where he picked up the majority of his delegates.

A since fraud is an illegal act we will push hard to identify these students. So they better hope Obama wins the General Election so he can have something to do on day one. Pardon them.

Jean South Carolina   May 9th, 2008 11:35 am ET

Hillary is a racist and don't need to be President. I am offended by her remarks because that was not necessary. She should be told to play by the rules or get out.

mitchell from arkansaw   May 9th, 2008 11:35 am ET

c'mon edwards.what's the holdup?make your endorsement, before hillary says something racist or stupid, again.right now ,your endorsement still means something.by this time next week ,you may not matter, anymore.i would have voted for you,had obama not entered the race, and i would like to see you on the ticket this fall.but,if you can't make a decision, then maybe gov. richardson would be a good second choice.

Bill in Illinois   May 9th, 2008 11:35 am ET

Maybe Hillary is using "New Math" to count her delegates. There really doesn't seem to be any other explanation for her insistance that she can still win. It's really getting to be a sad thing when everybody else knows that she isn't going to pull it off but she doesn't.

Margaret   May 9th, 2008 11:35 am ET

I am a white educated woman who will not vote for Obama! If he is elected President I do not want to have to take a seat in the back of the bus!!!!!!!!! I will vote for McCain !

Evelyn   May 9th, 2008 11:35 am ET

John please, help Hillary we want you and her to be in the White House. Obama is HORRABLE.

Larry   May 9th, 2008 11:36 am ET

He doesn't need the endorsement, but it would be good. He would also help as a VP.

anybody but her   May 9th, 2008 11:36 am ET

WOW, at least he gets it–don't make your opponent look bad to make yourself look good. that's simple common decency. but, it does happen all the time–at work–and other places. People can't seem to make themselves look good unless they make others look bad. She is definitely hurting his chances to win in november but i seriously believe that is what she wants to do. If the superdelegates don't get that, i think we're really in trouble in this country.

if Obama loses in November i think it could clearly be traced back to her treatment of him. She will no doubt run around the country saying i told you so and then run in 2012.

THEY ARE LOTS OF WOLVES (REPUBLICANS) IN SHEEP (DEMOCRATS) CLOTHING HERE ….. TRYING TO STIR UP TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!!

Deb   May 9th, 2008 11:36 am ET

MoreMcSame — very well put! Hopefully, Senator Edwards and VP Al Gore will support Barack Obama as well as other superdelegates. For her to stand in front of her supporters and tell everyone he could not get her supporters to vote for him is ludicrous and she needs to exit now!

No More Hillary PLEASE!
