Poll shows Clinton with big lead in West Virginia

Clinton holds a big lead in West Virginia.
Clinton holds a big lead in West Virginia.

(CNN) – Even as she faces pressure from some to call her White House bid quits, Hillary Clinton holds a commanding lead in West Virginia, according to a new poll released Friday.

Clinton has a 43-point advantage over Obama, 66 percent to 23 percent, according to a new survey from the American Research Group.

The poll was conducted entirely after Tuesday's primary results, and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

The poll suggests Clinton’s white, working class base seems to be holding firm for her - at least in West Virginia, where that demographic makes up a substantial portion of the Democratic electorate.

West Virginia, one of the six contests left in the Democratic presidential race, votes next Tuesday.

I talk to many people in other countries... They are holding their breath too. We lost untold support since 2000. Our hopes, dreams and fears are like others around the world. Many fear the arrogance and outrageous personality of Clintons may further damage the world. Many had all but lost hope. Now, there is pretty much silence. Daring to hope in other countries is still not evident. This time, the fear is, will the Clintons be able to manipulate the race for the presidency like Bush and supreme court did? Where are the people that put Bush in again (2004) when it was all too evident that Bush was dangerous to the world? They believe that the Clintons are capable of similar if not worse tyranny. Some here FEAR that McCain’s running mate will be Jeb Bush! …I hold on to "YES WE CAN." I am so proud of all my brothers and sisters. I had a twinkle of hope in the beginning, then I decided to be brave for all of U.S. for my daughter's sake. So proud of America...

Wow, now that's a big margin for Clinton. Will it help her with the delegate count?

    . . . 6 million dollars for 15 delegates just won't cut it.

People of WV. I challenge you to overcome racial divides and lies and vote for OBAMA. Hillary is not the nominee so don't waste your votes. This is exactly what the republicans want so let's end this.

Just like her landslide in Indiana, only a 16,000 vote difference, which Obama would have one, had it not been for Republicans voting for her. Obama 08'

What she's showing everyone is that it is going to be extremely difficult for Obama to win in the general election..

The only thing a big win in WV will do for Clinton is feed her selfish, delusional play for power. If she cared about the country she would do what so many patriotic politicians in her situation have done before her, drop out and support the winner. Our politicians willingness to put country before self is one of the things that has always made our democracy so strong.

If Hillary does not get the nod she should run as a Independent. She would beat Obambi in the general and McSame also. She would surely carry the large states.

Great she has pandered to them enough. Since when has WVA had so much importance. Take the 20 something delegates and run. I am real impressed, that only leaves you 100 and something behind. By the way if your in WVA who is watching your superdelegates???

How soon we forget that Obama is really the weaker candidate and he does not do well under pressure, remember he was badly beaten in the Pennsylvania debate? And we expect him to lead our country?

Go Hillary, we'll support you all the way!!

I'm a lifelong democrat, but will never vote Obama in November. If he wins, it will be the biggest mistake this country has made second to electing Bush to two terms

Exactly what percentage of WV is non-white??? This is a no-brainer, given all of the race-baiting by the Clinton camp. I wish people would stop and realize that the demographics vary state-by-state.

I certainly hope people remember the disgraceful legacy of the Clintons in future elections.
