(CNN) - Barack Obama picked up another three more superdelegates Friday afternoon.

Hawaii Rep. Mazie Hirono, South Carolina Democratic Party Vice Chair Wilber Lee Jeffcoat, and New Mexico add on delegate Laurie Weahkee all announced they are backing the Illinois senator.

CNN has also confirmed five new superdelegates for Clinton, though they all endorsed the New York senator before the primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. The latest announcements for Obama narrow Clinton's lead in superdelegates to four. At the year's start, she led by more than 100 superdelegates.

Get out Hillary, the longer Obama's around the bigger his lead gets. All you are doing is giving fuel to the McCain camp with your negative ads. YOU HAVE LOST. Get over it and quit dividing up the party, you're putting yourself in front of the nation.

RICARDO PHILLIPS OF D.C   May 9th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

I'M SORRY THATS SUPER DELEGATES.

Mike Birmingham, AL   May 9th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Alright Democrats – time to unite under the Obama banner – knock it off with the "I'll vote for McCain" sour grapes routine. You don't want 4 more years of Bush and you know it.

By tomorrow, Obama will have more supers than Hillary can ever dream of.

Smart move superdelegates. Don't won't to lose those constituants (Hispanics, African Americans Asian, Native American. European voters) by siding with a scorned woman. Shame she to had to play the some college questionnaire card. Makes us all look like idiots.

Yep, I'd say the momentum is definitely on Hillary's side.

What a shame that the Democrats are going to blow the opportunity again to beat the Republicans. First Gore, then Kerry and now Obama. Obama will have trouble winning many must win states like Pennsyvania, Ohio, and Florida.

Extinct Snipe   May 9th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

CNN is always seems to be throughing in subliminal messages supporting Clinton. The numbers are the numbers.

Obama has the support and the money. It's just a matter of time and Obama will have all the votes he needs and more. Poor Clinton doesn't seem to know when to stop.

I guess Clinton husband must feel like he has let Clinton wife down somehow.

GL   May 9th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

So give the real number CNN-

Obama – 271
Hillary – 271.5

Closed the gap? They're essentially tied. The only gap will be Obama's lead as the SD's run to his support.

It's over Hillary. You only lead the state of denial. Go home.

At this point, anyone who supports Clinton is only supporting the Republicans. They may as well drive around with "W'08" stickers on the back of their cars.

Obama wins plain and simple. Lets give Clinton 70 percent of the vote in the last 6 primaries and lets give her 61 percent of the superdelegates. That would bring the delegate count to Clinton 2003 Obama 2026. Anyone that thinks she can do this continue supporting her. The rest that knows deep down that she is done. Its time to rally around Obama to defeat McCann

Maya   May 9th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

while the news media CNN MSNBC are having sex with Barack Obama, the democrats superdelegates are falling in love with him. Therefore, I will not be part of that party anymore, I am black and a Hillary supporter I will never vote for Obama. I am disgusted with the way the media and the democrats have been so unfair to Hillary.

Obama is not going to win the States that Hillary won, when it comes to Michigan and Florida forget it.

The media and the morons in the Democratic party are responsible for the divisions that exist among the democrat voters, good news for John McCain.

MULU   May 9th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Hillary ! it is better to give up and stand behind one candidate (Obama)
for the sake of your party and for the American People.
to stay on campaign without having any good chance to win the race offers the other side of political groupe a better battle ground for November election.
you can make a historical big difference by doing that

God bless you!

who cares, if and big IF he is the nomination, mccain will beat him in november, because the core of the democratic party, blue collar, seniors, and catholics will vote for mccain. the dnc treated hillary very bad, and her supporters will not forget that when we go to the polls in november. mccain08!

White Independent   May 9th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Finally these guys are going to use some common sense. The only way the Democrats could lose this election is if they had voted in Hillary. There is something happening when Americans who are young in age and in spirit – who have never before participated in politics – turn out in numbers we’ve never seen because they know in their hearts that this time must be different. There is something happening when people vote not just for the party they belong to but the hopes they hold in common – that whether we are rich or poor; black or white; Latino or Asian; whether we hail from Iowa or New Hampshire, Nevada or South Carolina, we are ready to take this country in a fundamentally new direction. That is what’s happening in America right now. Change is what’s happening in America. You can be the new majority who can lead this nation out of a long political darkness – Democrats, Independents and Republicans who are tired of the division and distraction that has clouded Washington; who know that we can disagree without being disagreeable; who understand that if we mobilize our voices to challenge the money and influence that’s stood in our way and challenge ourselves to reach for something better, there’s no problem we can’t solve – no destiny we cannot fulfill. WE are the change WE'VE been looking for.

Mani, NJ   May 9th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Alot of these superdelegates should look up the word loyalty. Just because it seems like Obama may be the nominee does not mean they should get on that wagon and be a bunch of followers. If they supported Clinton first, then they should maintain their faith in her. Thats their job isnt it, to endorse the candidate that has a better chance of winning in November. The media keeps saying how the superdelegates should not overturn the will of the people, but which people are talking about? About half support Obama and another half supports Clinton. Is one group of supporters better than the other. These superdelegates know Clinton would be a better president.

They are wearing sweaters in hell tonight because The New York Times and I agree on Iran.

In an editorial last Friday, the paper called for tougher sanctions against the Iranians and hammered those countries that are soft on those killers. As General Petraeus clearly stated last week, Iran is directly responsible for killing and maiming thousands of American troops, and it is the primary reason Iraq remains so chaotic.

In addition, there is no doubt that Iran is developing nuclear capabilities. The very liberal Times recognizes that danger, and so do most sane people.

But General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt does not seem to care about the damage Iran is doing to America and the world. As we've reported, Immelt has allowed GE to do business with Iran for years. "Factor" producer Jesse Watters confronted him in Canada.

GE owens MSNBC is that why they are pushing Obama. Is he a Musslin plant?

super dupers   May 9th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

The worst of all worlds:
The party has one good Candidate- Hillary Clinton- who with the smallest amount of support could have easily carried the nation to a democratic victory. But due to media bias, flawed caucus format and disenfranchised voters, she did not seal the nomination.

The other, weaker candidate, exploited the race card, won media support and cheated his way to a narrow lead in the nomination. But... alas, stands no chance of winning in Nov.

What a bad place to be... even in a year when democrats CAN'T lose- watch us pull off a loss anyway.

Dee Danford   May 9th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Obama has no chance in the general election. If the Dems want a chance to beat the Repblicans, Hillary needs to be the nominee. I am just being honest. The handwriting is on the wall here.

Obama or the Democratic Party. Sen. Lots of people are offended by these kinds of remarks and won’t vote for Obama in November.

If at this momment OBAMA was the one who is behind Clinton with let us say 100 total delegates, the the Democratic party could have forced him to drop out of the contest. Afro-americans have been tradionally voting for the Democratic party since generations. Now for the first time in American history we have a nice Afro-American gentleman who can be a good president. It is high time for Clinton to go out of the way. It seems we now have 3 political parties in America-The Democrats; The Republicans and the Clinton Party. America rewarded the Clinton family long back ago by giving Bill Clinton 2 terms. It is time for the Clintons to realise that to be president of this country is not a family bussiness. It is high time for the superdelegates to kick out Hillary out of the race if we are supposed to win against the republicans in Nov

I was trying to find your area to comment on Ms. Clinton as VP. I am a 57 year old white woman in Wyoming and there are many more of women like me here who are strong Obama supporters. I strongly feel that Hilary should not be the Vice Presidential candidate. She and Bill would always be under foot. At a minimum she would sabotage any success at change just because of her personality (the" shame on you Barack Obama" personality) and I also (hopefully falsely) have some fear for his life if she was in a position to become president. He is a brilliant man and I pray that he will be able to fulfill that brilliance.

Thank you, Superdelegates, for finally realizing that this thing has been over since Super Tuesday. It's time to get behind Obama and unify this party. Hillary, what can we say, you fought the good fight but came up short. And, don't worry about all those little tidbits that are in your powerpoint to the superdelegates – In November, Obama won't be running against a fellow Democrat. Please, Hillary, keep the faith. With your help, Democrats will vote for the Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, in all of those tough districts – and we'll leave McCain, Bush, Cheny, and Limbaugh wondering what happened!

Don, Prosperity PA   May 9th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Look, I live 20 miles North, and 15 miles East of the WVA Borders. We spend 90% of our time trying to keep them from buggering our livestock. Seems to me that they are Bill and Hillary's kind of folk! And, bottom line, it doesn't matter one little bit as Obama will be our next President!

sanger, tx   May 9th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Hillary will bounce back!!!! and be the nominee. The superdelegates must support hillary, they'l be sorry if they dont because obama cannot and will not beat mccain .

JJ in NY   May 9th, 2008 5:01 pm ET

Perhaps if they just keep changing the rules as we go along, eventually hillary will be able to steal the nomination. Perhaps if they make West Virginia a "winner take all" for the nomination.. Perhaps if the remaining superdelegates were not allowed to vote for Obama... That's seems fair using Clintonian logic, doesn't it ?

Randy - Denver   May 9th, 2008 5:00 pm ET

I am a bit confused this article should read 5 new superdelegates for Ms. Clinton unless these were already committed delegates (which it sounds like "though they all endorsed the New York senator before the primaries in Indiana and North Carolina." in which case they should not even been mentioned. Come on CNN is it too much to ask you to play fair? Either she won 5 new supers in which case she should ahve the headline or she did not in which case they should not have been mentioned!

I support Mr. Obama but this kind of news is getting real old CNN has yet to post a single unbiased column they just keep switching their bias!

coach Turner   May 9th, 2008 5:00 pm ET

Why does Hillary Clinton keep talking about those two states that were left out of the voting process? I remember seeing her on a radio program where she siad that those votes would not matter, is she now wanting them to count because she is losing. And why doesn't the major TV news stations play that interview over and over like they have done with Mr. Obama.

Prof. from El Paso   May 9th, 2008 4:57 pm ET

It should be noted that almost 50% people voted for Clinton and she will continue to get support from super delegates. So, it is high time that Obama's supporters recognize that and be respectful to her. Again I am emphasizing media should not put nasty writings from Obama supporters on the blog. This is what making the Democratic Party more divisive. Many of the Obama supporters who claim they are educated and intellectual, their blog reads like they are high school kids with no real education.

ummmm, how can you count 5 more endorsements when they already endorsed you before? The Clinton campaign is trying to trick people into thinking they are getting more superdelegates. I respect people not voting for Barack Obama, but I can't stand when people say he is the "most liberal" and have the audacity to call Hillary Clinton a "moderate"???? That just shows your lack of intelligence, Hillary is just as liberal and big spending as Obama. She's prancing on stage with Elton John for crying out loud! Don't fool yourselves, some clinton supporters are getting delirious. Black with an arabic name does not equal most liberal! This is just a prejudiced statement. And how can you say that Obama would be the worst thing ever for the United States, that's not fair. What about him is so much worse than clinton? Fine, you think he's less experienced, that's fair, but I've heard some very ugly statements stating Barack is just plain stupid and I don't see how you can have so much hate inside you for a person you have never even met before. Obama supporters, stop stooping to the name-calling level, let's stay positive.

Why are the Superdelegates playing with Sen. Clinton? As long as they give her an ouce of encouragement, she will dig her heels deeper in this race. By the time it's all over with, Sen. McCain will be sitting up in the oval office without a clue about anything other than keeping the war in full force.

I think the DNC should really take a long look at the superdelegates in the future. CNN reported that one of them are trying to sell his vote for twenty million dollars. Since when does it take millions to get people registered vote. I register people all the time and it's free. All it cost is a little time.

Venus   May 9th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

I love this game!!!

This is a nice way to shut the Clintons DOWN and close the doors to the White House!

So while Hillary is out there begging for more debates – the superdelegates are coming Obama's way!

Jannelle, Boston   May 9th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

All you super delegates and back woods whites from West Virginia cas kiss my Black a%#!!! Our time has come. Barack will be President despite all you rascist slander. If Barack don't get the nomination no Black people are gonna vote for Hillary no how!!

Obama '08 Baby

Poor supers   May 9th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

The Superdelegates are trying to save the democratic party. They need to unite behind Obama- but just like the people, they already know that he can barely win the nomination of the liberal party, much less carry the GE.

They know that he can not win in Nov. The same democratic party mistake- nominate the least electable left wing elitist and hope to carry the democratic base and the conservative half of the country.

The mistakes were made by the DNC in pushing Obama on the people. Winning the caucus states means nothing- only a handful of people get to vote and count as if hundreds of thousands got to vote. the people who could not participate in caucus were Clinton supporters.

The unfairness of this primary and with the hateful tactics of the hopeful uniter- will lose the election for Obama.

paul Christian truck driver   May 9th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

Hillary has it right. White American have been voting for Obama under the misunderstaning that he was a unifier. After listening to Wright it is clear that he has been attending a black racist church for 20 years
The first time Obama heard Wrights racist rants and didn't leave, he became a racist. How many of you would have stayed and listened to this hatred for white people, our nation and the Children of Israel?
I have never voted for a racist and I don't care what colour of skin they have, it is wrong. I hope the Democrats lose. 60% of white Democrats in North Carolina voted against Obama. If one adds in the white Republicans the actual number of those voting against Obama will be about 85%. He will lose and I'm glad.

Tandeka   May 9th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Give Hillary all the delegates in West Virginia – All 28 of them. By the way, does anyone but me notice that in all the hype CNN stories about her big lead in West Virginia, they always fail to mention we are talking about 28 delegates. Give them all to her!!

NEXT!!!!

Ratgurl   May 9th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Bring on the Republicans!!!!!! We're about to make a HUGE change to American politics!!!

Erika Shaw   May 9th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

It is time for Hilary to bow out of the race and start supporting Obama against McCain. Her staying in the race appears to me that her first interest is in her goal to occupy the White House rather than to make things better for the American people. Her strong support of Obama
would strengthen the position of the democratic party tremendously and bring around any hesitant voters.
The sooner this happens the better of we are.

Sam   May 9th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

I still think that Hillary would make a better president. If Obama is election, and I mean if, McCain I feel will become our next president, all we will hear from the Obama camp is everything that is directed to him or his administration will be in a racist tone and they will make everything a black issue (or they will take it that way).

Torch   May 9th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Hillary is the only hope for our Country against the tyranny of the big Oil companies. Obama is in their pockets. He even has some their execs running his campaign offices. Hillary scares the hell out of big money interests because she not only can give power back to the people, she WILL. We need a powerful leader and fighter, because if we're the change we've been waiting for – well, looking at our current state and realizing we've been here all along – we're in deep trouble, because we're not being listened to.

Super delegates, Voters, please go read Hillarys life, her voting record – you'll see she's the one who brings change as a result of ACTION. Compare it to Obama's life and voting record – his is mostly inaction and hyperbole – and when it's come time to vote, he's been mia for his constituents, or votes and legislates to appease his big corporate backers.

Anyway, Obama will not beat McCain. Hillary will.

Hillary in '08!

Julie mn   May 9th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

I missed the poll comment ,so I just wanted to note that we know they cant be trusted, and now we know that zogby polls are behind obama. He has put his people in place long before this primary. Howard dean the head of the DNC disenfranchising almost 3 million voters for obama, the msm for whatever their political ties are behind Obama, and Hillary is still, not done and can beat Mccain in November.

The Democratic party is no more!
It is really the Obama party as in those against America! Hence Dean from Vermont(the state that doesnt want to BE part of the U.S) Has played dirty pool from day one!
The Obama supporters are all wishy-washy and anybody they like today, they can hate tommorrow!

I also believe as a new Republican, so far ? this is still a free country
A dem who has voted 25 yrs dem, then to have our own party slap us in the face for their own corrupt political takeover is a disgrace. And the Obama supporters calling us names, well, they are probably first time voters, who are only voting on color not facts.
So I have NO problem crossing over, I vote on the facts and issues!

CONGRATS   May 9th, 2008 4:50 pm ET

Obama congrats on the super delegates

i wanted to make a comment about Hillary's lead in WV, but as usual CNN doesnt let you make comments that are negative about Hillary.

Let me put it this way Hillary, what are you going to do for WV?

\Nothing except Lies, you couldnt help WV, my family is from there and its a disgrace that you are lieing to those people from that great state, those hillbillys will realize your lies soon.....

I think this is the time for the superdelegates to decide this election. Continuos silence does no good to the party. Those endorsement are good for Obama.

barocky n bullclinton   May 9th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

Only 4 way from a tie..Hillary needs to give it up, if for anything at all just to save face.

Mike   May 9th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

You know, when Obama loses the election, it will be MORE egg upon his face than anything that Senator Clinton has said or done.

He will get THAT FAR, and HAVE BATTLED SO MUCH, simply to have McCain pull the rug from beneath him.

LOL

tigerakabj   May 9th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

Keep 'em coming cousins. Let's start focusing on McCain. McCain's complaining how President Obama said that he was losing his bearings in relation to policy. Boo freakin' hoo.

This will be over before we know it. Finally.

Time for all you whining, sour-grapes Clintonites to get real and get behind the democratic nominee.

If you're really going to vote McCain over Obama, then you were probably going to vote McCain all along anyway – or you live in a republican stronghold so your vote is moot anyway.

Matt Hardeman   May 9th, 2008 4:48 pm ET

wow. the democratic elite grab onto the obama balloon. shocking.

If obama doesnt offer clinton the VP slot i will personally be furious.

why should i vote for a man who talks and talks and talks about 'uniting' people when he's not even willing to reach out so far as to offer clinton the VP slot?

it will be his single act of hypocrisy yet. I'm a lifelong democrat. But at least McCain's showed more respect to Clinton than the obamacists… I WILL vote for mccain if obama messes this up. So will millions like me. He's hard enough to get elected as it is, without infuriating every last person who voted for clinton.

You've been warned, Obama people.

Donna   May 9th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

I wonder how many general election votes Obama will receive after all of Hillary's supporters either do not vote at all, or vote for McCain. I am a Democrat who will vote Republican in November if Obama is on the general election ticket. It would be another four more years of mistakes and poor judgment either way, so since this race turned racist, I'd rather give my vote to McCain and will.

Joyce   May 9th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

Happy Mother's day Hilary. Whatever happens, I for one am very proud of you. You would make a great President.

CNN please post this.

If Hillary looses, I will abstain from voting this coming general election. I shall instead wait for Chelsea. This first family gave us their best. I know that should Chelsea choose to run for office someday she too will possess the dedication to give her very best just like her parents and therefore will deserve nothing less when it comes to my vote.

Obama   May 9th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

Give it up Obama. You don't have what it takes to win the general election.

kili kina   May 9th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

Hillary Clinton can do what no one else, since Richard Nixon, did for the county: make 90% of U.S. citizens happy by going away. That is the benefit of a negative positive poll ranking, which she spent her entire life earning, the hard way (with good old fashioned bad behavior for decades). Bill Clinton's arrogance knows no bounds: he thought he could deliver the white house to his shrew wife!

L.W. Johnson   May 9th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

I see where Jack M. threw up the question of offering Hillary the second position ????...............................If that were to happen, How long do you think Barrack would stay in 1st position? Does anyone remember Vince Foster?

nganga,Austin TX   May 9th, 2008 4:44 pm ET

Just like the rest of us,the Superdelegates follow the MOMENTUM.

Mark Anthony - Lake Elsinore, CA   May 9th, 2008 4:44 pm ET

The delegates that support Clinton are loyal to her, even though, they know she won't get the nomination and there will be HELL to pay if they switched. Look how they treated Richardson, he was loyal to Bill he didn't have to support Hillary.

Vince Foster   May 9th, 2008 4:44 pm ET

I will remember this primary as the real reason why democrats never win… they are a bunch of spoiled brats!!!

WAAAAHHH, Hillary isn’t going to win, so as a woman I am going to vote for macain….. even though I will lose the biggest right of a female, the right of choice.

How backwards and stupid must you be to vote republican because in a year when possibly 3 judges on the bench will be leaving their office???

I will remember this as the year that the Clinton’s lost their sense of entitlement. And Bravo for that!

Someone tell the Gimmick Candidate Carl Rove is on the phone, he has something to tell her.

From what I heard, the GOP dumped Hillary after Tuesday. They thanked her for her hard work and how she followed their every instruction but they declined her membership application to the GOP party, they called her a JUDAS :o

1. Hillary Clinton as a Democrat
2. Hillary Clinton as an independent
3. McCain or any Republican
4. We will simply not vote.

Hillary '08 . Its that simple..

Tommy In Oregon   May 9th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

Hoping the party starts to unite. Still seeing some disturbing blogs here. Reference made by Cincy Nurse earlier to Obama picking up more Supers, stating "Oh Look, they're Black". WOW!!!!

I'm pretty sure that although a portion of his 16,500,000 popular votes came from African Americans, there are still many other votes included as well. Although some of his 268 super Delegates are African American, many are not. Let's come together, and stop being devisive amongst one another.

Dina Phila., Pa   May 9th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

Can someone please tell me why are the superdelegates reconfirming their support for Hillary Clinton? Is this just out of loyalty or is it from the crushing vice grip the machine has on their windpipe? It is as clear as the rings around Saturn, she has lost this contest. Even Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles can see that Barack Obama is our Democratic Nominee!

I. SMITH   May 9th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

Wait a second – is Hillary camp talking about the SD she got from NC Gov. Easley and IN???

H,ah,aha, aha isn't it funny how Hillary camp is trying to hide behind superdelegates she has already gotten? Shame on them! Still trying to fool us! I guess it really looks bad if you had 100 superdelegates before the race started and now... the rookie is leading in superdelegates!!!

Man, oh man! I got to go back to Obama's home page and count how many he got for the past two weeks!

Yes!! Thank you – keep them coming!!!

J.L.   May 9th, 2008 4:41 pm ET

This is pretty much the beginning of the end of Clinton's 2008 Presidency run. Superdelegates switching is the final nails on the coffin. Hopefully Hillary Clinton will exit gracefully. And for those who might label those who switch as traitors and Judas and so on... You fail to see the forest from the trees. Hillary has NO chance to get the nomination now (and if you don't see that now, I'd suggest brushing up on your math). These superdelegates see the big picture, which is trying to beat McCain. The earlier that Obama can start on the general election race, the better of a chance he will have... I wish people would stop being so petty and not forget the last 8 years of rule under Bush...

It makes sense, right?

Obama leads in the popular vote; in number of states won; and in pledged delegates. He'll lead in superdelegates by Monday, and the race is over.

I keep wondering about the logic behind Clinton's, and her supporters', repeated declarations that Clinton is the stronger candidate, with the broadest base of support.

If that were true, why is she losing in the popular vote, in the number of states won, and in pledged delegates? Her, and her supporters', claims don't make sense, which is why the superdelegates are now going over to Obama. It's very simple.

Let's unite behind the nominee and defeat McCain in the fall.

manny t   May 9th, 2008 4:39 pm ET
