The results will mean NOTHING.
WV always goes to to the republicans anyway.
Obama was smart enough to divert his efforts where he knows he will win.

A big Clinton win in West Virginia would not mean anything.

By the way, the race is over, Obama already won. It is time for the Clintons to leave.

Washington insiders are responsible for the mess we are in. The old style politicians broke our government.

UNLESS they are Ted Kennedy and other elite superdelegates... then they are cool because their votes give Obama the nomination.

Without the votes of Washington Insiders Obama can not win the nomination.

Ponder that.

Oh..... and that WV primary??

Obama is trying his best to allow Hillary to go out on a high note. Rather than trying to take WV away he will let Hillary win and hopefully she will feel like she's leaving on a high note.

Not sure why many of you are not aware of this since it was the MEDIA who mentioned this 3 days ago..... but a story is a story right?

What does it mean; it means that Hillary will have won one of the less diverse states in the union. That is not to disparage West Virginians-- only to say that blue-collar, White people have been her strongest demographic all along therefore it makes sense that she has such a huge lead. That still isn't any reason for Barack not to be campaigning there. Nevertheless, it will barely dent Barack's delegate lead and if superdelegates keep falling behind him, Hillary may wake up Wednesday to find herself even further behind in the delegate math.

With that said, it is time that we start behaving as USAmericans and not as White, Black, Hispanic, Jewish, Catholic, male, female, blue-collar, white-collar, college-educated, etc. individuals. In case you haven't been paying attention, foreclosures are sweeping the nation and have affected EVERY demographic CNN tracks (to our disadvantage); our infrastructure is crumbling; the price for necessities such as food and fuel are skyrocketing; we are fighting wars on multiple fronts and our military is stretched thin; later this year Medicare will begin paying out more than it takes in (the same is projected to happen to Soc Sec. in 2017). With all of this going on, watching many of you act like high school kids up for the prom queen/king ("I won't vote for her/him because his supporters insulted my candidate...") would be hilarious if it weren't so scary. Wise up people: vote for a candidate because you believe in their policies and that they will improve upon the current conditions. Regardless of who loses, all three candidates are wealthy and elite and you'll never see them at your local bowling alley, bar, shooting range or gas station.

It's time that we remember, for which it stands, the 'Unite' in the United States of America. "United we stand, divided..."; I'm sure you can finish that.

And by the way I also agree with some of the other writers. CNN did increase it's coverage of Hillary that last four weeks. I don't think they wanted her to necessarily win. They just wanted this competition to be as close as possible to keep their viewership up.

I will be VERY HAPPY to see the day our News Media MATURES and realizes by devoting some much time ( an OFTEN EXAGGERATING what is actually happening) to this they do the American public a disservice. We hear very little in regards to the extremely high drop out rate of Americas High School Students and other really important issues.

"I cannot find one reason why a Democrat would not vote for Obama other than racism "

Statements like the above (from an Obama supporter) are incredible in their arrogance, naivete, and stupidity. I've tended to vote Republican all these years, but I have to tell you that while I find some of what Obama says inspiring, I DO have some reasons other than racism that would keep me from voting for him, namely base of experience.

An issue that has become more and more obvious to me (and others) is the incredible arrogance of Obama supporters, and many Democrats in general. He IS NOT a savior, nor omnipotent, or anything else. He's a candidate. I think many of you Democrats have bottled up your angst for so long that you're allowing it to whip you into a frenzy. Know this: The world is complicated, and your simplistic views of how things will change are most likely NOT going to happen. It's NOT because Republicans are evil nor is George Bush the anti-christ. It's because the world is complicated and the U.S. is filled with people that think only of themselves (liberals are much more this way than conservatives, by the way). Get over yourselves, and realize that pretty much everybody is as smart as you...maybe more so.

OOOOOOOO I KNOW ....I KNOW ....PICK ME!!!!

IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CNN TO PLAY THE ROCKY THEME FOR HRC AND SAY THAT SHE IS THE COMEBACK KID AND OBAMA IS IN TROUBLE AND THE RATINGS WILL STAY UP FOR ANOTHER FEW WEEKS.

RATHER - WHAT CNN SHOULD BE SAYING IS THAT HRC IS PLAYING THE RACE CARD AND IS TEARING THE DNC APART. SHE HAS BECOME A VILE AND DISGUSTING CHARACTER.

WEST VIRGINIA - BEAUTIFUL PLACE BUT YOUR OWN SAKE - CATCH UP!

What does it mean? At this point, it doens't mean anything.
It's over. Let's start thinking about November.
These are distractions from the real fight with Mc Cain.

This contest and none of the reamining primaries mean anything, since all Obama needs to confirm the nomination is 35 more pledged delegats.

It's time for all Clinon supporters to join the Obama movement and ready for the November fight against McBush.

This means a lot contrary to some of the above. it is a boost for Hillary and her supporters and makes me wonder what the problem is with Obama. The bigger question is what is he going to do to garner the Hillary vote. Haven't heard anything close to addressing that but he isn't the nominee yet.
Obama:
Pick a staunch Hillary supporter for VP if you are the nominee and that would help. Those female Governors who came out for you are not viable candidates. That is why they came out for you but it backfired!

It means that Hillary should consider a third party run for the white house. There are 3 partys in play now. The republicans, The Obama supporters, and the Hillary supporters. I believe with states being winner take all, Hillary could rack up alot of electoral votes. I believe she would win NY,PA,NJ,CA,FL,MI,OH,etc. no candidate would reach 270 electoral votes, She is just stronger than Obama.

It will show the Democrats in DC who are drooling over obama that this country doesn't want him. Not the rock bed base the ones who have supported this party for decades.

Just because the youth are so zoned out by someone they think is a rock star and make more noise and chant and wave the DNC is drooling, yes drooling thinking they will STAY in the party. They won't. They'll be gone maybe even by November.

There are emails circulating about starting a new branch of the Democrat Party and proposing Hillary as the candidate. We don't want that. We want our branch of the Democratic Party that is splitting to go to McCain and knock the socks off the weak kneed weak butt obama so the drooling members of congress will see the real truth. WE DONT' WANT OBAMA AND WE WON'T GET HIM.

Right now Obama is ahead by 164 delegates. Even if West Virginia reduced the gap by 14, Obama would still be ahead by 150. How could that send "a sobering message" to Obama supporters?

It means the race card was overplayed by Obama and we are tired of his divisive sort of unity.

It means "ANYone BUT Clinton" is okay to say- even if you get ugly, nasty and vulgar about it.

But "ANYone BUT Obama" is NOT okay to say. It is apparently RACIST. Even if you simply exercise your right to vote and say it.

Did you see the Republicans are rushing to attack Obama even before Hillary concedes?

I think they are worried about running against Obama.
This tells me that Obama is a more viable nominee than Hillary is.

if she wins by that margin she will only pick up a difference of 10 delegates, barely even a dent in obama's lead.

please report on paul vs. clinton

Why is it for the past several months we get fed this line of tripe, "This State is the Important One, it will define the fact that I'm more electable"

All the states decide the President Hillary, even the ones that aren't 100% "white hard working Americans". You know the majority of the states, full of white, black, yellow, brown, and red And guess what we all get to vote, even those who aren't white are hard working and we ALL are important and decide who's President.

As a minority, I owe a lot to West Virginia (in particular, WVU). I had all my education and skills that I remain proud of today.

But, I remain deeply disappointed in any state that would vote overwhelmy to send any Clinton back to the White House.

In particular, the Clintons have--
1. been impeached
2. lied consistently to the people of this nation
3. deep dark blood in their hands.

I do not hate the Clintons' I just do not see how they could be "moral leaders" of a nation like this one. God Bless West Virginians; I still love the state that raised me!

Even if she wins WV by 100%; they only have 28 delegates and if the polls are correct, if she wins by 43%; i.e 63% for Clinton and 37% for Obama. She will have 17 delegates to Obama's 11 delegates; Obama will make up the difference in superdelegates; since the election in NC, he have gotten 9 SD; he will get more before the WV.

Well, in General election, WV only contributes 4 electoral college votes; Obama can let McCain have them and he can easily make up for it else where.

We all know that, not everyone will vote for Obama; Even if Jesus comes today, not everyone will accept him; so stop CNN should stop thinking that it will be a big deal if WV did not vote for Obama.

In all these analysis, you guys forget that 90% AA that are not voting for Hillary or do you think if the nomination is stolen from Obama; the AA will kick it aside and vote for Hillary?

The last time I checked, the most reliable base of the democrats is the AA and if they refuse to vote for Hillary come November because of a perceived injustice, I do not see how she will get the nomination even with her blue collar advantage.

The truth is Obama & Clinton have divided the democrate base and each have a piece, with the other's cooperation and help, one of them is doom to fail come November. The other factor that is not being considered is Obama's attraction of new voters, it is very possible that new voters and huge voters turn-out might be the ones that will tilt the balance in this year's elections.

Hillary should run as an Independent. Her own party has betrayed her with idiotic rules such as don't count FL and Michigan even though we want their vote in November. Allocate delegates instead of use a normal winner take all approach that causes no problems. Use undemocratic caucuses where the average working American with a life doesn't have time to sit and scream about politics all day. Howard Dean is a joke and the DNC is the reason we will lose in November. Hillary run as Independent and you will most likely win.

It means "ANYone BUT Clinton" is okay to say- even if you get ugly, nasty and vulgar about it.

But "ANYone BUT Obama" is NOT okay to say. It is apparently RACIST. Even if you simply exercise your right to vote and say it.

I agree with you W. Virginians...Go Hill! We know Obama is an elitest, he made those comments right here in San Francisco. No wonder he is just going to give up and let Hillary win in the next two states. SUPER DELEGATES have to see there is no way we will win in Nov. with Obama, and everyone knows it!
I think Obama must rush down there, spend Saturday-Tuesday in order to bring the first Clinton volcano win down as quickly as possible. Where he has reached needs a sobering reflection and he needs not take anything for granted.

Clinton never wavers-he has to fight.

I want more than anything to believe that Barack Obama could be a JFK-esque inspirational leader and then be an effective, 'change agent' to truly change the political culture. I want a President who is not only highly intelligent, tough and courageous, but who will surround themselves with dynamic, change agent 'thought leaders' who will get this country on an upward course. What we need is both Barack and Hillary, and I just pray that they will find a way to combine their talents to help the country through this dark age.

My concern is that there are too powerful of forces in the environment of today's politics such as the industrial lobbying machine and the religious extremists whose selfish issues drive their politics despite the 'burning of Rome' on all of the other more important issues, that will block any real positive change on the big issues. We are likely expecting too much from Barack and his ability to be all that we want him to be. In my 60 years, I have never felt before as I do today that our way of life is in such jeopardy. Bush has driven the US down the path of economic, political, environmental and moral destruction as never before, and his departure from power is overdue and cannot happen soon enough. January seems so far away. We have wasted 8 years in solving the core, fundamental problems with our economy, the environment, society and the world, and we desparately need change.

I remain optimistic (despite the pessimistic tone of my comments) that we will elect new leaders who will have the strength of conviction, the fortitude and the intelligence to lead us out of this wilderness.

means nothing in the scheme of things…she can't win the nomination no matter how big she wins WV and Kentucky…she will also get a win in PR but lose Oregon, Montana and SD….so the delegate count will basically be a wash and by June 3rd, she will still be trailing by somewhere between 140 - 150 pledged delegates as well as trailing by the number of states won, popular vote and will, by then, be trailing in the super-delegate count…this is over, everyone knows it, even people within her own camp…valiant effort, but it's over Hillary…Hillary supporters need to move on and consider what's best for the party, and switching to McCain just because you don't like Hillary losing to Obama, is not whats best for the party….the divisions within need to come to an end…Hillary supporters, accept this end result…regardless of how big she wins WV or Kentucky, it doesn't matter anymore

I am a disabled vietnam era veteran and I do not understand has the country lost it's mind. Why would anyone ever vote for someone who does not pledge allegiance to our flag that same flag that our troops carry into battle the same one that so many are ready to die for. I recently saw a photo with some of his family and three unknowns and another three unknowns just how much do they know. I am sorry our money clearly reads in god we trust what of this. Commander and chief not for me he's not. I've seen the ceremonies at the tomb of the unknown soldiers how much will change what will the new traditions be and when Obama talks of change I think he means a lot more than anyone realizes. God help us all and especially Hillary Clinton Please! Please! Never Quit! And what is this poverty tax bill and how much is this going to cost me.

Wow.

It's funny (but so typical) to see all the Obamabots insulting WV residents with their smug superior comments.

It's this attitude that will cost Obama millions of votes in the general election.

Good job guys. :)

This election is about internal Demcratic party politics. and get back at Bill ploy.

Ok, two more comments after scanning others - Why is it that because West Virginia is comprised of mostly white people who will vote for Hillary, it automatically follows that they are racist? If that's true then aren't blacks in North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and so on racist also? If that's true, who's the bigger racists and who did this first? Blacks began voting at an 80% -90% clip for Obama LONG before whites voted for Hillary at, what, 60% -40%? WHO's voting race?

Second, I like the question of having a poll to see who would win the Presidential race if all 3 of these candidates were running..................THAT would be interesting - If it's Obama v.s. McCain, it's another lesser of two evils vote and that easily goes to McCain.

"If not Hillary...then McCain"

I can't think of anything more ridiculous than these comments I read here and elsewhere. If it didn't have consequenses that directly impacted the rest of the world I would say you get what you deserve. But there is nothing rational about voting against your interests just because your angry your candidate didn't win the nomination.

I disagree with the poll I don't think she have that much lead. So, the point is the poll and the MEDIA just try to play game with Clinton family only. I think she might have about 10 point lead. If Hillary win in WV can
any body call Obama to drop out? because she won 4 of 5 state and 1 draw after WI. I think the MEDIA don't need to hate Clinton family like that.

CNN is in denial about the Dem primary. Because CNN's favorite candidate is out of touch and losing they pretend as if there is a chance for her. Hilary is done long time ago. It does not matter wther she wins W. Virginia or not. CNN you should know better and let Clinton's dynasty rest in PEACE.

West Virginians are a weird bunch. They have been on the loosing end so long until they just go for the underdog as a way of life. They really don't care about elevating themselves and demonstrate that by being #48 in teacher pay. Why would we expect anymore out of the people in that state? How can they help shape a brighter future for this nation when they haven't made it happen for themselves?

By the way, where in the world is Senator Robert Byrd? I thought he was against the war and voted against it. Why hasn't he stepped forward for Obama? That just tells you a little about the weird attitude of West Virginians.

This is foolish. Obama cannot win the general in Nov. Do your research - not sound bite surfing. Every legitimate statistic regarding this race shows Senator Clinton the only one to beat McCain and secure the majority of States. If you do not want 4 more yrs. of a Republican presidency, than use your head and vote for Senator Clinton. She is clearly the most qualified individual - black/white/purple - that our party has seen in generations. Senator Obama is not ready - putting him up as the nominee now is throwing away our opportunity in Nov.

I, like millions of democrats, will be forced to vote for McCain as independents in the Fall if he goes forward. We will without question make sure that he does not make it to the presidency. These are not bitter comments of the moment that will wash away over time. These are very real facts folks.

To the other JC:

"JC May 10th, 2008 11:40 am ET

WV will never vote for a black man. That's the bottom line. Older voters are racist and everyone knows it. That's why Hillary takes them."

That is a dangerous statement.
Not all older voters are racists.
Several seniors on CNN blog page are far from it.
Let's not give more fuel to the fire.

It means people are tired of falsely being labeled racist just because they do not think Obama is the best candidate.

If everyone who doesn't vote for Obama is called a racist... what kind of president will he make?

Everytime someone disagrees with him or criticizes him, that person will be called a racist.

That is an unnecessary distraction at this time of crisis.

We know we can call Hillary anything we want and even be ugly and vulgar about it and she still keeps on going. She is not sidetracked and offended whenever people voice a disagreement with her. That is a true leader.

Obama thinks he is perfect and demands that everyone must agree .
Clinton realizes she isn't perfect and goes on doing the best she can for ALL Americans.

WVA AND KENTUCKY ARE JUST PEP RALLY'S FOR THE CLINTON EGO.

SHE NEEDS TO STEP ASIDE, UNIFY THE PARTY , AND STOP TRYING TO TEAR IT APART.

IF SHE'S THINKING ABOUT ANY KIND OF RUN IN 2012- SHE MIGHT BE VERY WELL RUINING THOSE CHANCES AS WELL!

STEP ASIDE GRACEFULLY SEEMS TO BE IN HILLARY CLINTONS BEST OPTION RIGHT NOW.

AFTER ALL SHE HAS A RE-ELECTION BID COMING UP FOR HER N.Y. SENATE SEAT, AND NEW YORKERS WONT FORGEWT HOW SHE WAS SO DIVISIVE WITHIN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

This is just shocking that the Democratic party regardless of who else is running WILL NOT nominate a woman! The media has taking Hillary to the cleaners and all she has done her ENTIRE adult life has worked tirelessly to better her fellow citizens lives. And her track record shows this , she has no secret agenda she ACTUALLY has AN agenda and the know how to turn this country around and even though I hate this phrase she's been "thrown under the bus". If the Democrats are looking for "new blood" to liven up the party than answer me this. How old is Ted Kennedy? Robert Bryd? John Kerry? and so on and so forth.Shouldn't they start thinking about giving up their seats to "new blood" several of them should have retired 30-40 years ago LITERALLY! I'm having huge yard signs made saying "you didn't nominate Hillary;McCain 08" I am an Independant and my vote will count and after all is said and done the democrats better watch out when their seats are up for grabs because people don't like their non action and no accomplishment way of running the senate. I feel sorry for Obama letting these old guard Democrats send him to slaughter knowing he can't win against a war hero but they are going to doit only because they are too sexist to nominate a woman shame shame shame. And when obama get annilated in november they will all be pointing at Clinton saying this is her fault what a bunch of crap! Like john Kerry after bush won his second term acting like a spoiled brat well John and Ted if I recall Clinton won your state but you turned your backs on her let's see what your state thinks of you two when your seats are ready to be turned over to your "new blood" I am sure some 19 year old female college student would be a shoe in to replace either of YOU!
