If Hillary Clinton gets ALL of the delegates from West Virginia and Kentucky, and 60 percent of the delegates from Puerto Rico, and 60 percent of the remaining superdelegates, and splits every other remaining state 50-50, Obama still wins the nomination. Try it on the CNN delegate counter and see.

I'm not sure what history books HIllary has been reading, but it's a fact that WV democratic primary voters have preferred winning presidential nominees (like Bill Clinton) and losing nominees (Carter in '80, Dukakis in '88). Furthermore, WV has also voted for Democratic candidates who don't get the nomination (Humphrey, Byrd).

Even if she was talking about the general election, she was wrong: Ford carried WV in '76 and lost, Carter carried WV in '80 and lost, and so did Dukakis in '88. It's clear she's just trying to make WV sound more like a bellweather than it truly is.

So much for her dedication to democratic unity. More important, however, is to notice how the news organizations thrive on controversy. Obama has a stronger lead than ever before, and now its WV that could bring Clinton back from the dead? Are you kidding? Unless Clinton wins by 90-10, WV is not going to matter in the big picture. Obama is probably less than 50 superdelegates from clinching the 2025 needed to win anyway, and Clinton herself has said she'll be out by mid june. Ok, here is the deal. i just did this delegate count on CNN Politics and for Stupid dumb HRC will have to win 83% of the superdelegate votes to win the nomination. I gave her 75% in both W.VA and KY, and PR and Obama just winning the rest at 55% and still she needed to win 80% of remaining superdelegate votes. So for her supporters: DO THE MATH. I can not see how HRC will win unless DNC decides to lose in November by stealing the nomination from Obama by pushing all remaining superdelegates to vote for HRC. it is almost IMPOSSIBLE for her to win just based on math and common sense alone which she does not seem to have

I am an Australian. Here's a thought. How come you guys have a system for choosing nominees all worked out but when it actually comes into play you vilify the person who is trying to use it. The Democrats thrashed out a system for choosing a nominee. The system outlines an entire process that ends at the end of the Convention. So... let it work.

The reasoning appears to be that the process is damaging the party. I don't think so. I think it is US democracy at its finest. Clinton and Obama are thrashing out the issues and ironing out the wrinkles in their arguments. This will stand them in good stead when they face McCain. The weak points are fairly well known; what this process does is train both of them in how they will deal with them in debate.

From where I sit, both candidates appear to be learning a lot. I think it is a good thing that the process continue. The more they learn now the better.

All those who think a great deal know that integrity counts, truth counts,

But he didn't he's focused on the issues. Just because Obama wouldn't use these against her doesn't mean the Republicans won't. Conversely, she's used everything she can against him and hasn't be entire honest about it. Credibility is important.

At this point, the only delegates that count are pleged delegates. Superdelagate endorsements will count only at the convention, where superdelagates get to vote. If neither candidate gets the required 2025 ( or 2200, whichever is right ) majority from pledged delegates, then NOBODY HAS WON, and the contest should go all the way to the convention in Denver, where superdelegates can vote as they please, regardless of any endorsements they might have made to this point.

Obviously race is a hot button in this country. There are many people in WV and Kentucky who are voting for Hillary because she is the best candidate. There are still many people who are voting for her to spite Obama. I don’t get it since he stands for the same things she does.

As far as I can tell Obama has not brought race into the campaign, others inject it and he responds to it. Hillary on the other hand says- “Hey, white people will vote for me but white people won’t vote for the black candidate.” That type of argument is not true for one, and it is divisive. The democratic party has brought together whites, blacks latinos, rich, poor, the hard working and the less fortunate. Why is she trying to divide us? She’s doing the same thing she did when she brought up the gas tax- she’s pandering to people who she believes share her point of view- specifically the folks in Kentucky and West Virginia. She saying you’ll vote based on race because that’s the type of people you are.

There are others that say it’s racism that African Americans vote for Obama. Maybe, but it’s more symbolism given the legacy of slavery and discrimination in this country- Furthermore Bill Clinton got some 90% of the African American vote in 1996. African Americans always strongly support the democratic party. When Hillary was the presumptive nominee in January she had more than 50% of the African American vote. Now she wants to divide us by race because it helps HER. I’m white and I take offense to that. This may help her in the short term but hurts the party and the country in the long term. Take a step back and look at this objectively, and ask yourself is that what you stand for. If you do you are free to vote republican in the fall.

So it is safe to say Obama no only beat Sen Clinton, but he beat Bill, Chelse, the Clinton brand name, the Great Clinton Political machine and the media. Now that everyone is one very great accomplishment.

So give him his due for he has more than earned the privilage of being where he is at this moment.

West Virginia voters ask yourself, How will she work her heart out for you from the Senate? She still has to serve her term as the Junior Senator from NY. Has she ever set foot in West Virginia since her husband left office. 3 weeks ago PA was important too, the road to the White House ran through it. Has she been back since, NO. Don't get too flattered WV, if she had the airfare to Puerto Rico and their 55 pledged delegates the only Clinton you would meet would be Chelsea.

Does she really think that, just because she wins overwhelmingly in WV, the parties superdelegates are suddenly going to swing her way? How naive. I think we will see a lot of molds broken this year, in terms of which states and which segments of the electorate are "must have" – particularly if Obama wins the nomination, as appears certain. States that have never been in play, will be. States that have been 'must win' will become important.

This is foolish. Obama cannot win the general in Nov. Do your research – not sound bite surfing. Every legitimate statistic regarding this race shows Senator Clinton the only one to beat McCain and secure the majority of States. If you do not want 4 more yrs. of a Republican presidency, than use your head and vote for Senator Clinton. She is clearly the most qualified individual – black/white/purple – that our party has seen in generations. Who was the top money draw for the Democratic Party for the past 6 years? That's right Hillary Clinton. She brought in millions and remember when the talk was that she could have the largest War Chest in the history for a Presidential Run. What happened to all that money? She did what a true believer would have done. The money was released to fund the campaigns of the Democratic candidates in 2004 and 2006. Her fund raising and hard earned money was responsible for the election of a majority of newly elected Democratic Senators and Representatives.
The Democratic Party Chiefs have run over her just like they would anyone who held party loyalty above their own personal gains. SHE was just the Biggest Celebrity of the Party, the volunteer fund raiser , and became the gal you sent out for coffee when the new CEO came on board. The new guy is charismatic and full of idealist words and you are willing to hire him right out of his internship in CEO land.
To hell with any sense of gratitude for the work Senator Clinton has done to increase the majority in Congress of Democrats and women. For the first time in more years than most Obama supporters can remember, we have a democratic majority in both Houses.

Honor the will of the people, which seems to be “ nobody will have won at the end of the primary season”. Senator Clinton won the popular vote in Texas, I voted for Her; then I went to the caucus meeting. The number of Obama supporters who showed up to caucus was very large, so Sen. Obama won the caucus election, even though He clearly was the less popular candidate in the state. Where is the democracy of that result?
The Texas result shows that Caucus elections are totally undemocratic. The candidate’s campaign that can haul more of its supporters to the caucus meeting will win the caucus election, even though that candidate might be the least popular in that state. That is how Sen. Obama has taken the lead of pledged delegates over Sen. Clinton, by winning caucus states. Obama’s claim that nationally He is the more popular candidate is bogus, as Sen. Clinton has won most primary elections AND MILLIONS OF CITIZENS DIDN’T GET TO VOTE IN CAUCUS STATES.
Furthermore, the process to determine the candidate for president for the Democratic Party requires the winner to get 2025 delegates to obtain a majority and thus be the democratic presidential candidate next fall. Currently, neither Sen. Obama nor Sen. Clinton has obtained the required majority. It appears that neither of the two Senators will be able to obtain the required 2025 delegates from pledged delegates at the end of the primary election process to get the nomination, so they will be tied, neither Senator will be ahead nor behind, THEY WILL BE TIED, it will be a draw. That is, in spite of Sen. Obama’s campaign claims, no citizen who cast a vote in primary elections will be disenfranchised ( except maybe those from Michigan and Florida ) if his or her candidate isn’t picked in Denver, because NOBODY WON during the primary process. A runoff election will then take place at the democratic party’s national convention in Denver, where only delegates will vote. There, the superdelegates will end up picking the winner. This is the process, this is how it should be if neither candidate obtains the required 2025 delegate majority during the primary period.
So, Superdelegates, pick the candidate most likely to win in November; pick the candidate best prepared to lead our country into the future; pick Sen. Hillary R. Clinton; otherwise we will lose NOT ONLY THE WHITE HOUSE BUT CONGRESS AS WELL.

The winner takes all the delegates from each State where she or he has more votes. According this method, Hillary already has over 290 electoral votes to Obamas 217. The winner is Hillary Clinton but the DNC came up with the undemocratic process this time to placer a loser in front based on their own undemocratic rules. Our little group of Independents for Clinton & McCain is growing anw totals 474,000 in every state. We are dedicated to the pricipal of putting the mopst experienced person in the White House. Many of us are McCain Supporters and many of us are Clinton supporters. But we all agree tha one of these two MUST be our next President, Accordingly, the Clinto supporters (70% of our little group right now) are committed to getting Clinton the nomination through volunteer work, contributions, and networking. BUT, should Clinton not be on the Dem ticket, we are all dedicated to working to get Senator McCain elected. It is not about policy differences. It is about experience. with a Democratic controller Congress and Senate we are not worried about Senator McCain hammering ho,e a Republican agenda. You are wrong, Scott. The more conservative, older voters can and will easily switch to McCain. The left wing radicals are destroying the democratic party. Hillary is a centrist and offered the best compromise to people at the extremes. The Obama people threatened never to vote for her. Barrack is not saying anything negative about Hillary. Every statement is positive, on every stump speech, to every reporter, and when ever asked by a voter. It is a logical fallacy to say that because other democratic nominees won WV she will be the nominee because she won WV.

1. It is not defined criteria for becoming the nominee.
2, Other democratic nominees may have lost states in common with her too. If she lost those same states other nominees lost would that grant her the nomination?
3. If candidates shared lost states with other candidates that lost the nomination would that candidate also lose the nomination?
3. If Obama won states that all other nominees have also won would that make him the nominee?

Can someone please explain to me how you can be for Hillary and McCain at the same time? They have completely polar opposite viewpoints as to where this country should be headed in terms of the economy, the war and healthcare. There is almost nothing similar between them, but almost all of the basic ideals of Clinton are shared by Obama.

I can think of no other reason than racism to run from Hillary straight into the arms of McCain.

What is the motivation behind Clinton's desire to stay in the race?

1. She truly believes she can obtain the majority of delegates and get the nomination

2. As the first serious female candidate, she wants to stay in for the sake of all of her women supporters

3. She believes her campaign can find some serious controversy to destroy Obama's reputation, thus allowing her to take over the candidacy

4. She is hoping that by staying strong until the end, she will be in a good position to be the VP candidate

5. She wants to make sure Obama can't win in the fall so she will have a shot again in 2012.

McCain should of showed some backbone back in 2k when the country needed him and when he was a reaonable age to be president. He missed his chance and blew this one by embracing shrubs policies and is clearly not "all there" mentally.

When has Obama said anything bad about "a Clinton"...and what makes the Clintons above criticism, anyway? They are not gods, they do not hold an entitlement to the White House.

Obama has made some mistakes, but bashing Hillary has not been one of them. In fact, I think he has been incredibly fair when it comes to her.

I do believe they are hard working people and I can only hope they are nothing like Hillary. She used the people of West Virginia to make her racist remarks.

According to your argument, every state you win in the democratic primary Obama will lose it to McBush.
