Clinton draws parallel between her campaign, JFK's 1960 run

Hillary Clinton compared her Campaign to JFK's Monday.'

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton said again Monday that no Democratic presidential candidate can win without a victory in West Virginia - and drew a parallel between her own campaign and John Kennedy’s 1960 White House run.

“It was West Virginia that made it possible for John Kennedy to become president,” Clinton said at a Clear Fork, West Virginia campaign stop. “Now, John Kennedy didn’t have the number of delegates he needed when he went to the convention in 1960. He had something equally as important - he had West Virginia behind him, because it’s a fact that Democrats don’t get elected president unless West Virginia votes for you…”

Barack Obama may be the party’s pledged and superdelegate leader – but that status does not appear to have helped him in West Virginia, where Clinton leads by 30-40 points in recent state polls.

“So I’m here today because I know what’s really going to matter tomorrow,” said Clinton. “It’s the votes of the people of West Virginia and if you will come out and honor me with your vote I will work my heart out for you.

Clinton criticized the Democratic front-runner on his health care proposal, and his rejection of her proposed “gas tax holiday.”

“My opponent Sen. Obama says, “Oh no, that’s just a gimmick, that’s not going to help people,” said Clinton before again arguing that it will save families $70 on average and more for those with longer commutes as well as truckers.

Clinton added that West Virginia proportionately has more veterans, “more people who have served in the conflicts and in the armed forces of the United States….

“It is the hard-working, dedicated people of West Virginia who have really made America what it has been, and what it will be again.”

    Why blame Hillary?

She was the victim of the savage attack by her own party.

Nothing damages the DEMS like insisting on nominating the least electable ultra liberal left wing candidate.

Wait isn't Obama the new JFK and he can't even win the state in the Dem. primaries. Doesn't send a good message for the general.

I will be LMAO when, a month from now, Hillary finally figures out that she can't win. Hm. I knew weeks ago that she'd have to win 68% of the vote in all outstanding states and delegates in order to TIE. Too bad she's apparently never seen CNN's delegate counter. It's up to 80% now in all remaining states and undeclared delegates. Good luck, dummy.

You’re all missing the bigger picture here.

Like Kennedy, Hillary won’t have enough delegates to take the nomination, so she’ll go to the convention and fight for them, just like Kennedy did. She’s not dropping out, not today, not tomorrow, not after June 3rd.

Her bunch is talking about 2209 being the magic number now, figuring in MI and FL delegates. She’s not going without a fight. She’s going to wring every drop out of this contest, and heck with the consequences. That's how I see it.

Where do Hillary supporters get this thing about Obama being hypocritical and arrogant? I keep seeing the words, but not the evidence.

Hillay will get the nomination after wins in WV & Kentucky she might even carry Oregon. Obama must look for exit strategy come June 3rd, all those remaining superdelegates will endorse Hillary in the coming weeks.

That's about the most pathetic thing I've ever heard.

Bill, Chelsea, it's time for an intervention. Really... you need to step in and stop her from doing more damage to her future electability.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: Operation Chaos has not been canceled, by the way.

Audio sound bite time, ladies and gentlemen, Operation Chaos still being discussed. In fact, I just saw a link, US News & World Report has a post on Operation Chaos and how I'm just an egomaniacal blowhard tampering with the precious principles of our democracy, all for my ego, and I love it. The Drive-Bys are so jealous and rabid over this, because my friend from Kansas City is right. Folks, they despise the fact that they have to talk about what happens on this program. And so when they talk about what happens on this program, they do everything they can to denigrate it, besmirch it, impugn it and so forth. But they don't understand, they cannot destroy this program because they did not make this program; you did. And try as they might, they will never be able to divide you and me. One thing that everybody needs to realize here, you want to talk about unity, I have it. I have forged unity with you, the audience of this program. It is an unbreakable bond because of mutual respect. The Drive-Bys can do all they want to try to tear it down, but they will not succeed because they had nothing to do with it.

    Down with Rush!!!

Sorry Obama lovers. Whine and complain all you want. It is directly the TRUTH.

No democrat has won the white house without West Virginia in over 100 years or more.

Obama will NEVER win west virginia.

What the media isnt telling you is that Obama is NOT the same candidate he was before bitter gate and rev wright.

He cannot win the general election without the blue collar support. He is UNELECTABLE.

I agree with Pearl and believe that Senator Clinton will be the nominee. She IS THE BETTER CANDIDATE!!! As far as the race card, Obama is the one who started it and still brings it up. Not fooling this white grandma. I will support and donate to Hillary's campaign until she is our nominee for President of the United States. GO HILLARY 08!!!!!!!!!!

I thought she was like "Rocky"? She literally changes every day! I'd love to have a female pres... but please not this one! There are MILLIONS of others that have much better ethics/character/judgement! I don't want to elect a female just because she's female... I want to elect the "right" female and she is NOT IT! (think how she handles stuff... do we really want someone handling our foreign affairs with possible enemies like this?? how about budget management? gas tax holidays?? rofl)

A lot of you are in denial. Hillary is the one who won the big states...Ohio, Texas, California, New Jersey, Texas, Florida, Michigan, New York, and now she is beating Obama in the quadruple digits in West Virginia. Lets not forget she is also beating him in the national race against McCain. The Superdelegates have to pick the one they think will beat McCain. It doesn't take a rocket scientist. Obama's new preacher is calling Jews pimps....and he lets his children listen to this garbage. Can you imagine who he would pick for his staff....Pee Wee Herman, Boy George, Sponge Bob. These would be better than his choices of Resko, Wright, Lois Farrakhan, and his new preacher that says Jews are pimps. I think he just lost the Jewish vote. Obama would make the worst President. McCain would be better. Hillary will win just like JFK....and half the Kennedy's are voting for Hillary. Ted Kennedy drove into a lake and never got help for the lady that died in his car. She won his state too!!! Its so obvious she is the winner. Hillary/Edwards 08

OH GOD, now I am going to puke...why do you give her a stage for this..you keep reporting that she is winning big in KY and WVA, but also just as importantly losing just as big in ORE which has more delegates is never mentioned...at the end of all of this, she is going to net , best case scenario maybe 6-7 delegates, 5 of which Obama negated today in Super pick-ups....nothng is going to change here, only people who do not see this is the Clintons and CNN who appears to settled comfortably into their role as the Clintons certified propoganda machine...lol
