Clinton draws parallel between her campaign, JFK's 1960 run

Hillary Clinton compared her Campaign to JFK's Monday.'

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton said again Monday that no Democratic presidential candidate can win without a victory in West Virginia - and drew a parallel between her own campaign and John Kennedy’s 1960 White House run.

“It was West Virginia that made it possible for John Kennedy to become president,” Clinton said at a Clear Fork, West Virginia campaign stop. “Now, John Kennedy didn’t have the number of delegates he needed when he went to the convention in 1960. He had something equally as important - he had West Virginia behind him, because it’s a fact that Democrats don’t get elected president unless West Virginia votes for you…”

Barack Obama may be the party’s pledged and superdelegate leader – but that status does not appear to have helped him in West Virginia, where Clinton leads by 30-40 points in recent state polls.

“So I’m here today because I know what’s really going to matter tomorrow,” said Clinton. “It’s the votes of the people of West Virginia and if you will come out and honor me with your vote I will work my heart out for you.

Clinton criticized the Democratic front-runner on his health care proposal, and his rejection of her proposed “gas tax holiday.”

“My opponent Sen. Obama says, “Oh no, that’s just a gimmick, that’s not going to help people,” said Clinton before again arguing that it will save families $70 on average and more for those with longer commutes as well as truckers.

Clinton added that West Virginia proportionately has more veterans, “more people who have served in the conflicts and in the armed forces of the United States….

“It is the hard-working, dedicated people of West Virginia who have really made America what it has been, and what it will be again.”

Is she aiming for the sympathy vote, because I'm starting to feel sorry for her. Plus, she sounds a bit condescending towards West Virginia voters.

She never said she was like JFK. She said the campaign was like his when he ran in 1960. Amazing, Obama lovers love to talk down to those who support Hillary. Yet, they can't read a simple news article. She has all the right to run as long as she wishes to run. If the Dems want the Obama guy in the WH then when the time comes they will vote for him. If not, then I guess he wasn't the second coming after all.

People have been comparing Obama to JFK all along. Now she claims she is more like him because he won WV?

I can't count anymore the number of times she has changed the bar.

I don't want to see a Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton. It is time for a change of face.

Wait, wait, wait. I thought that Barack Obama was likened to JFK. When did she suddenly become so?

As for all you people who don't like Barack Obama, stop with the name calling. Same goes for Obama supporters.

Lastly, I am just curious, when Bill Clinton and Ferraro brought up race, are you telling me that Barack was behind them pulling their strings? The audacity to keep putting this on him is just as ludicrous as the blaming him for Mi and FL officials breaking the rules.

Stop trying to blame the wrong people and start acting like adults.

The national polls were favoring Obama for quite some time. The attacks he survived through in the past month or so have hurt. But the Republicans would attack her just as much if she were leading. Please take this into account when looking at the polls.

Ok, here is the deal. i just did this delegate count on CNN Politics and for Stupid dumb HRC will have to win 83% of the superdelegate votes to win the nomination. I gave her 75% in both W.VA and KY, and PR and Obama just winning the rest at 55% and still she needed to win 80% of remaining superdelegate votes. So for her supporters: DO THE MATH. I can not see how HRC will win unless DNC decides to lose in November by stealing the nomination from Obama by pushing all remaining superdelegates to vote for HRC. it is almost IMPOSSIBLE for her to win just based on math and common sense alone which she does not seem to have

Questions, questions, questions. Has everyone gone mad! What is wrong with everyone? Is everyone buying into Obama's smoke and mirrors and ignoring the fact he has minimal experience? Correction everyone...not all the Kennedy's endorse Obama...Bobby Kennedy's family has endorsed Hillary. Why all the bitterness toward Hillary? She tried unsuccessfully to get univeral medical coverage and would try again. And as I recall, the Clinton Administration produced huge budget surpluses. My, oh my. What is going on? This much I know – droves of Hillary's supporters stand to abandon the party and vote for McCain.

It's a shame for hard working women to be bamboozled by a rich woman like this. Hillary is still running because she cannot pay herself back if she gets out of the race.

Don't be angry when you find out your contributions are only to pay off her debts while she makes an under-the-table deal to get help from Obama, too. This is too Hillarious that you are all are so naive.

I wonder if she knows what it means to be humble and just offer herself to people instead of asking people to offer themselves to her.

To all that want to know why Obama supportors attack Hillary it's because she makes it so easy!

She's a joke! SHe pretends to be what she thinks the voters of the moment want her to be. It's insane.

But to compare herself and the way she's run this campaign to JFK is not even funny. It's sad. It's pathetic. It's delusional.

If you people really care about her – give her a hug and tell her to go home. She's making a fool out of herself. JFK's kid is for Obama.

We have only 4 democratic president in last 60 years out of 10. Their process selects the loser most of the time. It is so sad that Obama cannot win in November for the amount of hatred he tolerated for last 20 years. The process failed again.. This is a sad day for America, a sad day for the world..

The Obama fanatics on here sicken me.

Give Senator Clinton a break. You are so confident that you've won, so follow the lead of your candidate and cool down. Stop digging deeper and deeper. You are alienating the nearly fifty percent of the party who has supported her.

Frankly I'm glad to see a break from Clinton's habits of declaring this or that state don't matter. On a much more positive note Hillary has finally let us know that the one state that does matter... after all these primaries, caucuses, ads, events, polls, and fundraisers that have been going on for months now... is West Virginia. Who'd a thunk it?
