Clinton campaign said Obama should stop downplaying expectations in West Virginia.

(CNN) — As voters headed to the polls in West Virginia in a contest Hillary Clinton is expected to win, a memo released by her campaign argued that Barack Obama had waged an “aggressive campaign” in the state – and that a loss by the Illinois senator there would raise troubling questions about his general election chances.

"In the face of grim poll numbers, the Obama campaign has attempted to dismiss today's outcome despite the fact that Sen. Obama has outspent us on advertising, has more staff in the state, and more than double the number of offices,” said the campaign in an e-mail sent to reporters Tuesday.

“He has also benefited from the support of the most high-profile endorsers in West Virginia-Sen. Jay Rockefeller and Congressman Nick Rahall. By every measure, the Obama campaign has waged an aggressive campaign in the Mountain State," they said.

The Obama campaign has been looking to downplay the results of West Virginia’s vote, spending the evening in Michigan, a fall battleground. Obama trails Clinton by 30-40 points in recent polls of the state’s primary voters.

another bad choice by HC….

smart thing to do would have been to call Obama out for not showing up in WV and ask the WV voters to punish him at the polls for not caring about them.

She might have gotten another 10 points with that message.

And you should start living in reality. Sure it's not technically over but for all tense and purposes it is. It's only a matter of time until Hilary will finally have to sit her selfish, lying, deceiving, egotistically wanna be behind down!

Nothing personal but most of America has spoken and we want Obama so join in and let's defeat John McCain't!

RACE, RACE, RACE!!   May 13th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

News flash people and you can check this source ANYWHERE, white people are not the only people voting in this country. W. Virgina doesn't represent the rest of the country!!

Check my facts if you like.

And why is this important news?????

He has been there before, it really does not matter now. This talk about VP…What can Hillary bring to the ticket except her experience..She has no money to chip in towards the campaign and with her nasty tactics, her credibility has diminished.

I use to think highly of the Clintons, but that true Southerner attitude is creeping through….White is better than Black any day attitude. What happened to We as the People!

Mix all the colors together…What color do you get? Black

God Bless America   May 13th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Wow you are so Right Hillary's Camp. Any man or woman for that matter would who is not not a good ol' REDNECK HICK whose cousin is not his Mother will have Huge problems getting elected in any office. Your white uneducated blue coller worker supporters aren't voting for you because you are the best canadidate. They think you are their COUSIN/SISTER!!!! So, they think they're are voting for a FAMILY MEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!! (LOL)

To the Rest of West Virginia, today your full 28 delegates will be divided accordingly. Your voice is being heard.

BrokerDealer   May 13th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Sean Hannity pushed reverend Wright into the mainstream media and they ate it up. That's what moved the lower income white vote to Hillary. Before that, even in Texas, Barack got his share of that vote. The PA Gov. Rendell, Hillary, Bill and a host of talk shows drove it home. I would allow that one more week of the gas tax holliday idea and Barack would have won Indiana. It showed Hillarys' two faced approach. So what happens then, she pulls out once again the white thing. No better place than West Viginia. Add those to the hard core womens vote and there you have it. That's why the superdelegates are going to Barack. It's morals, stupid.

Cindy in California   May 13th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Why does her staff think this is something we don't already know. Of course he ran an aggressive campaign, did she think he was not going to try. His staff has always said they will campaign in every state, regardless of what the polls say. That is why they are ahead in the popular vote, delegates and cash on hand.

She is 20 million dollars in debt, (by the way where did she get 20 million from, oh I forgot she won't be releasing her tax returns until August, how conveineint) So no matter what he spent he was going to outspend her. I too think she will win, but I am also glad he put a lot of effort into that state.

tom   May 13th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

CNN please stop reporting that is not favorable to emperor Obama. We all know from drinking Obama flavored kool-aid that he never makes any mistakes.

WV won't matter in Nov no matter what   May 13th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Hillary, you'd be better off spending your time trying to raise the $20 million your campaign is in debt. There are plenty of bribes from Columbia and the Sultan of Dubai to be solicited.

Obama has been severely criticized by all other observers for the exact opposite – conceding WV too easily. But I think he did exactly the right thing – all analyses show WV will go red in November no matter who the Democratic nominee is. Dems are better off spending our time on close states we can win in November with greater electoral votes than WV — like Colorado, New Mexico, Iowa, etc.

Thanks for all the Fish   May 13th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

No more Clinton and NO CLINTON FOR VP!!

So she wins West Virginia? She isn't winning where it matters (not that WV doesn't matter but ya'll only have 28 delegates or so and I have a feeling Obama's race is playing a HUGE factor in this game) and that's all that counts.

Sorry love, roll it in and let America ease on down the road with some new politics. NO MORE CLINTON/BUSH DYNASTY!!!!!!

The Deal   May 13th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

Look, the deal is…if Clinton can damage Obama enough in the primary season that he can't win in November, then she can run again in four years. If he wins in November, she's done. She can't run again. It's not about the party, it's about her winning at any cost, including to the party.

What's the most important?

Jeanne   May 13th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

I thought he made one stop in WV, spoke with supporters, and basically conceded the state to Clinton. She is so full of nonsense, I don't know why anyone listens to her. I sincerely hope Obama does NOT choose her as his VP.

tinawina   May 13th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

I agree completely with furiousdee. Obamaniacs: if you are so utterly confident that your candidate will win the nomination, why are you so utterly afraid to let the competition go to the end? Bad sportsmanship to say the least. I'm sure the Clinton camp would have liked to have Obama bow out when Hillary was on top for MANY months. So who's whining and complaining now? Hillary Clinton has every right to campaign through to the very end of the competition. You folks make the democratic party look like it can't handle it's own nomination process. Yikes.

I'm not voting for either Clinton or Obama. If I do vote I'm going with Nader who is the only candidate who — for starters — is for single payer national health insurance and shouts a resounding NO to nuclear power in any form. Too bad that any discussion of the actual issues are being lost in the democratic nomination circus….

No Hillary   May 13th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

Obama had an aggressive campaign in WV???? U see this is what angers me about Clinton…lies lies lies ..pretending as if we Americans are stupid or blind and didnt see anything. Obama barely campaigned in VW… we all know this.

Ron Las Vegas   May 13th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

All these comments about Hillary being a tough lady. I remember al the complaining she has done. Being picked on in a debate, unfair press, men ganging up on her, crying in New Hampshire. Is this the measure of toughness? Just remember that those who support Bush also call him tough and I can see the similarity between the 2.

For the person who has the math about popular vote, you are not counting caucuses and are counting Michigan. If you are going to count Michigan, the give Obama the 4o+ percent that di not vote for Hillary. I am sure that if it was Hillary ahead, you would saying the race is over and everyone would be calling for Obama to quit.

Who knows you might not even be able to retain your senate seat in New York. New Yorkers are getting impatient with your arrogance towards the Democratic Party. Your last card was Jeremiah wrongs and you lost it! swallow your pride go home and take care of your husband!

Paul   May 13th, 2008 2:50 pm ET

Sure, sure. Count the votes, yadda yadda yadda. Ever wonder why sometimes at the end of a football game, the players are meandering around the field and one coach is drenched in Gatorade before the clock is done ticking down to zero? It's because at that point, there is no play big enough to change the outcome of the game. (Unless of course the losing team can ask for a review of a play back in the first quarter.)

martin   May 13th, 2008 2:50 pm ET

UMM furiosdee- Have you done the numbers? Hilary needs to win 90% of the rest of the states. Also the reson people are telling her to sit down is beacuse they want to bring the democratis party together not further devide it. She cannot win the numbers needed. It is simple and clear- think with your head not your heart- and yes of course it is perfectly acceptable.

Marie in California   May 13th, 2008 2:50 pm ET

I've supported Hillary and I want her to win. As for her being Obama's VP……I doubt she'd want to play second fiddle to him. Besides, all the VP does, it seems, is hang around waiting just in case the president should die…..like Cheney does.

If he gets the nomination I will not vote for Obama, no matter who he chooses as VP. No experience, no track record….and lots more negatives.

The only vote I would give Obama is the vote of…..NO CONFIDENCE.

Hillary or McCain – 2008

Doesn't matter   May 13th, 2008 2:49 pm ET

Unfortunately he will lose W. Virgina but we are talking overall he is leading in EVERY category, this is the kind of thing that makes Obama and Clinton supporters upset, stop trying to make this about race!!

W. Virgina and Kentucky can become democratic wins in Nov regardless of who the nominee is. Hillary needs to step aside and start backing the nominee so we can gear up for the fall.

I'm not Hillary bashing but the race is over!!! Stop trying to devide the party for your own selfish reasons!!! Obama picked up 4 delegates today, if W. Virginia made that much of a difference why didn't she get those 4 delegates?

Maurice   May 13th, 2008 2:49 pm ET

Sorry u pathetic Obami supporters –the race is not over till Hillary (the lady wearing the pants) says so –so until then rather keep your SWAGGERING nominee (if thats what you call this "person" ) out of the contest as I really feel so sorry for yourselves should he by any remote chance be elected as President –then all the liberal white young voters will be shown up for their stupid idea of supporting such a candidate –do u really think he is going to give you any special benefits for helping to elect him? NO not at all –he will go back to support Rev Rite and his anti semitic bretheren — just look at ZImbabwe and look at his hometown of Kenya and even look at south africa with all it affirmative BEE (black economic empowerment??) -is this what/who you want to BE your future President?? Give me Hillary and Bill anytime –and if not then John M
McCain will get my vote!!!!! and remember that I am NOT a racist (just being clever and using my so called intuition and common sense} which u Obamis have definitely seemed to have lost on the long road to freedom!!! as Mr Mandela (remember him??) once wrote…

She sent that e-mail to reporters?

That should have went to the people in KY and WV, they seem in the dark (ages).

Everyone else knows its hogwash.

Winning WV by a landslide is like winning $5 in the Million dollar lotto. You won, but really, did you?

Congrats Hillary, you took the state that ranks 48th in people that have completed high school. You will also win Kentucky, they are #50. And you had deceive them with the race card. But really, you are not a racist, Hillary, you just encited the racists. Not all of WV are bigots, just most of them.

They may be hard working, and white, but it doesn't represent the entire country.

Again, Kudos to Hillary. You could have accomplished the same thing from home.

John Edwards put his finger on what has been wrong with this race the other day. Basically, it's gone like this:

Obama: Yes We Can

Clinton: No He Can't

So, Furiousdee...   May 13th, 2008 2:49 pm ET

….since not all states have had a chance to vote on the Republican side yet, does that mean that the Republican race isn't really over?

What's wrong with looking at the size of someone's lead, looking at the size of the remaining contests and drawing conclusions from that? If a football team is down 28 points with 2 minutes left, the game is over right? So would you have a problem with the announcers declaring the game was over?

I don't think people are opposed to Hillary staying in the race on principle, it's the fact that she goes into attack mode and weakens Obama's chances in the general election that has people objecting…if she would run a positive campaign for the next few weeks and talk about her own virtues rather than his flaws, no one would mind at all…..but she can't manage to do that for some reason, since she's so shocked and upset that what she believed was rightfully hers has now been taken away. To use the football analogy, she's like the team losing by 28 points with 2 minutes to go and taking cheap shots to try and hurt the other team so that they'll lose the next week

Marc in Canada   May 13th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

So Hillary;

admits that she has had great difficulty in balancing her campaign budget

admits that Obama's camp is more resourceful and organized

and she thinks she is the better candidate to run the country's affairs!!!

Obama is clearly the superior leader

Obama is clearly the more honest of the two

Obama is clearly in this for the right reason – I'm not convinced that Hillary and Bill Clinton are. This is all about their EGO and not about the USA.

Obama may have more resources to invest and a larger pool of energetic supporters wherever he goes, but I think it's obvious that Clinton tried harder in WV. Obama made few public appearances and moved on to other states before today, even though WV is the only primary of the day.

HILLARY 08   May 13th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

I thought that the SUPERDELEGATES were the party elders and had superior intellect.

I just can't understand why these superdelegates are flooding to Obama. Obama has serious electability issues and WV is just one example.

Currently, Obama is not competive in OH, FL, AR, and WV. In head to head polling with McCain, he is losing all these states. In addition, head to head polling in states that should be strongly democratic, such as PA could possibly go to McCain. Even in MO, another swing state, Hillary is polling better than Obama.

No matter how this party and the liberal media try to hide it, Obama is having electability issues.

Democrats are in denial. Obama is not electable and his argument that he will win CO, NM, SD, NE and IA is laughable. He cannot run all these states and besides, they don't have enough electoral votes.

Ask yourselfs whose math isn't adding up. Check out the polls. Go to Real Clear Politics.

This junior high school name calling that all of us have devolved into is sad and in many cases just plain nasty! I call on all democrats please lets focus on the task at hand beating John Mc Cain and getting a democrat back in the white house! Hillary has lost fair and square for anyone to say other wise is again childish! Sen Obama has won by the rules that they agreed to and we have selected a candidate for 20 years under. Lets leave the Clinton talking points were they belong in the trash. I keep seeing mad Clinton supporters posting just total lies that can be verified and looked up in 5 min on the internet. The both agreed MI and FL would not count. The media was bias towards both at different times in the race. had the media done its job on the NAFTA thing with Canada I do not think this battle would have gone on this long Sen Obama would have won both but once again as we see today the Clinton machine of lies was at it then to and the media jumped on it. Either way Primary is almost over she can stay in it is her choice however she needs to cut the lies and stay positive and focused as our democratically elected nominee has been! Lets leave these childish slams and name calling. Yes i speak of lies but those are facts! If you want to read the latest scroll up and read the ticker post again not just the title. LIES LIES LIES

The same Obama supporters keep coming back time and time again to diss Hillary every chance they get. I've never seen such venom towards a person these people have probably never met. Does Obama bring out the worse in people?

Let's face it. Obama has a ground crew in WV and ran numerous TV ads, but he himself went there once the day before the primary. He joked that most of the people was going to vote for Hillary and that was ok. He sounded condescending towards Hillary and quite honestly came off as downplaying the importance of the primary.

I know he is being treated as a rock star and some of the superdelegates are endorsing him early to push the numbers up. But, why should he win WV ? His people said he waged an agressive campaign there, and quite frankly he didn't…….that's all hillary's people was saying.

Second. If he does win the nomination, he will not win in November.

Third: It will not be because of racism but because he is NOT qualified.

Debbie   May 13th, 2008 2:46 pm ET

"Sybil" as she should be known – due to all her "personalities" – and her campaign have spread so many divisive, racist lies and misrepresentations during this primary race I'm surprised they can keep track.
She changes her personality depending on which state she's in, and panders to those voters.
I am thoroughly ashamed that so many women want to support such a horribly, nasty , liar is beyond me.
A person who will say anything, do anything to win – isn't strong person, and it's not a "quality' it's a liability.
To win anything by lying, cheating, and appealing to the poorly educated, least informed voter – to utilize their ignorance and fears is disgraceful, and to then have those lies repeated over and over in the main stream press and by her supporters is abhorrant!
And she shouldn't even me mentioned in the same sentence for VP!

4) Grow up Hillary, you are making me look bad playing games.

D.Kimbro OHIO   May 13th, 2008 2:46 pm ET

I would ask the Clinton camp to stop spreading lies..They know that primary success in WVA has nothing to do with the general election. If it took racist rhetoric to deliver the state, what does that say about her. I would advise them to look at the new map that is emerging, that will include several RED states. That being said Obama has already picked up as many delegates in a week (super) than she is likely to win in this states primary.

Mike - Texas   May 13th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

Let's face facts!

If, and that is a big "IF", she gathers enough of the popular vote then she can make her case. And if you add Florida and Minnesota she will get there.

And she won't quit until ALL of the votes are counted. And if Florida and Minnesota are not counted, you can expect OBama to loose both states in the general election.

Typical White Person   May 13th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

A vote for obama is a vote for the prosperity of the black communities, which is needed, however…

A Vote for Hillary is a vote for the Prosperity of All Americans.

Directed at: Still 4 Obama:

You are so correct!!!! As I read the article I was thinking of Terry McCauliffe in an interview stating that Obama is turning his back on the state and people of WV. Then I saw a top advisor (female… for the life of me I can't remember her name) on cspan who made the same claims as well as some ridiculous claims about why they think FL & MI should be seated now but they didn't think so at the begining of the primary season. The advisors answer was disingenuous at best…

"we didn 't realize how many voters would come out to vote and when we got the final numbers we realized there was a large number and they deserve to be heard." She was shameless.

fairandstraight   May 13th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

Okay, now this is just outrageous. Earlier, they were saying that Sen. Obama didn't campaign in WV, he only ran ads. This is just another lie to shoot the superdelegates in hopes that they will think he campaigned in WV and still loss to her. If he had really worked hard there, I think we wouldn't be seeing polls with her leading 30+ points.

Since everyone in America knows that other races work hard and are considered blue-collar workers as well, this won't work. Now I don't know if Obama needs this liar as his VP.

Terry, Butte, Montana   May 13th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

Aggressive? He campaigned there Yesterday. Before and after he has been campaigning elsewhere. Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea have been up and down the state over and over again for the past few weeks.

I am sure she even says she had to campaign under sniper fire.

Stay Possitive Hillary

She and her husband/daughter team campaigned there for days after days including Mothers' Day!.

And Obama spent less than a few hours and given the benefit of his non-presence in the state to Hillary.

Now, only an INSANE and MENTALLY INCAPABLE LIAR like Hillary can make an argument like the one she put out

Shows her DESPERATION and CLUELESSNESS on how she lost this ELECTION

Good riddance for America

"In the face of grim poll numbers, the Obama campaign has attempted to dismiss today's outcome"

No, more like 'in the face of a mathematically guaranteed victory". WV doesn't matter, it's too little too late.

And where in the world did she get the idea that Obama was "campaigning aggressively"??? He's only given one speech.

I don't see Obama as having campaigned hard. Sure, he campaigned there, but the Clinton spin would have you believe he was treating WV like it was a must win. HRC's camp is treating WV like it is this major deal, but blow off bigger deals like last Tuesday. IN and NC were just as big, but Hill-Billy wants you to believe that WV is make or break.

Uh…no.

As we all read through the sea of posts following all of these stories it's hard not to notice some of the stark comments made from supporters of both candidate, occasionally getting down right belligerent. It's become increasingly clear exactly how divisive this primary season has become and I start to wonder exactly what it is we are so vigorously defending? Both Hillary and Obama share very similar ideologies on the "issues", both have similar voting records (sans Iraq war vote of course), and both seem to have little real experience, although plenty of exposure. More than anything I am scared this attitude we have begun to adopt is deterring us from the realization that the country stands on a very precarious cliff with 8 years of momentum driving it into a downward spiral. If we can all agree on we’ve had distaste for the last 8 years why can't we decide on a future for the next 4?

diamond965   May 13th, 2008 2:44 pm ET

In regards to WV and KY, everyone knows that regardless of Obama's education, intellect, and good decision making abilities, some people are not going to vote for him because of his skin color and race card playing Hilary knows this, but the people of these states don't know she'll play what ever card will benefit her, yesterday it was the african american card, so today it is the un-educated white americans. This is why we need a change, so that this type of mind set can be destroyed. GO OBAMA!

Obama has 1879, Clinton has 1699. He is 146 delegates short of the nomination. There only 200 (ish) delegates left in the primaries and the rest are for the supers to decide. He has gotten over 30 superdelegates since Indiana.

There are no kingmakers, this race is over. Clinton should really gather the few remnants of political dignity she has left and go home.

SAM   May 13th, 2008 2:44 pm ET

The Clintons are so arrogant they feel they can say anything and make up the rules as they go along. If she were to win the Dem nomination she'd have much more trouble getting the A.A. vote, the educate vote, etc. I've had friends in West Virginia working for Obama and they all say tey have never encountered such racism, that many voters say they just won't vote for a black man. Same happened in Indiana. And, ironically, many of the white W.A. males say they won't vote for a woman- so it will be interesting to see how the polls play out.
I just know I will be glad when the Clintons just go away. I'm sick of them. BUT- they won't; they'll try to strong-arm Obama into putting her on the ticker as V.P. And by doing so he will lose my vote and, despite what the so-called latest polls say- a great many votes.

Jodie, Idaho   May 13th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

CNN: When it's obvious that HRC is spewing false-hoods, why don't you at least offer some points of truth when you print these articles? As you know, HRC appeals to a vast number of uneducated voters who appear not to take the time to dispute what's being said on the airwaves and in news articles – therefore believing the propaganda that bolsters their viewpoint. At least you'd be doing the nation a service by arming these folks with the truth of the matters discussed.
Unfortunately for you (and us) is that you can't print what the obviouse headline to this article should be – i.e., "Obviously Desperate Clinton campaign: Obama ran an 'aggressive' WV race – CNN & Nation reply: Give Us A Break, It's Over Already!"

rice, bryan   May 13th, 2008 2:42 pm ET

one conclusion by the numbers posted, scared white people. i'm a white male from indiana, and i can tell you that there a lot of white people that are terrified that if a black person is nominated the world will come to an end. i voted for obama, because a vote for the same ol' same ol', is just like spinning your tires in the mud. i was not going to be scared by the gop, or any other racist group into throwing away my vote by following the sheep to the slaughter. and people that post that they are for clinton, but if she loses i just can't vote for obama, can't tell you the truth that they are republican anyway. they listen to limbaugh, vote for clinton and keep this race going and watch the democrats turn on each other and this will get mccain voted in november. then you hear them say rev wright turned me off to obama, you weren't going to vote for change anyway. you were going to vote for the gop like you did last time, because you didn't know any better. mccains pastor is just as racist as wright is, and you folks are fine with what he has to say because it wasn't aimed at you. to read into a win in west virginia or kentucky is just looking at the "white" vote.

Latina por Obama   May 13th, 2008 2:42 pm ET

I am totally taken by the fact that we as Americans and then democrats, are we tolerating this woman, and her family to get out there and bluntly be racists. It has taken half (if not more) than century to beging the healing of race in this country, and yet, the billary's are bluntly and nationally using the race cards, diviing the nation into blacks and whites.
while she can her husband and daughter can campaign and run for king, quee and princess, please do that somewhere else.
I find it racist, shameful, deliberatelly divisive, and so full of hatred I can not believe more people are standing up to them. It is ok for her to be racist when it is convenient and even use the gender card.
They do it purposedly, and people need to call it for what it is, the little work she and her husband claim they have done, has but all been destroy in a few speeches she has given.
When you are voting remember we the people continue our lives, our children continue theirs, and billary does not care, she earns so mcuh money and will do more..after this fiasco.
I am saddened by what the clinton machine is doing and they know it and dont care.

Obama is not trying to win the state of WV; he is simply trying to control loss margin. If he is able to reduce the spread significantly, it will strongly signal Mrs. Clinton that she has NO hope of securing the candidacy. (It is quite improbable that she could take the nomination out of Obama's column.)

Another thing a narrowed loss will do is tell all of the Super D's to jump on to Obama's side of the scale and rush the nomination to him.

She has framed WV as a very important primary. I wonder if she will feel that Oregon is twice as important as they have almost twice as many delegates as WV.

By the way… what was Oregon's Governor hanging out with John McCain for, anyway? Isn't he a Democrat backing Hillary? That ain't meatloaf I'm smellin'!

kim in portland, oregon   May 13th, 2008 2:42 pm ET

i'm not a fan of his attack dog ways, but carville brings up some interesting VP choices, for different reasons they are all actually good ideas.

"Asked about who might share a ticket with Obama, Carville floated Clinton's name, as well as that of Clinton ally Gen. Wesley Clark. Carville also mentioned Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg as possible running mates, according the Greenville News"

it's time for us dems to get behind our nominee cuz november's gonna get UGLY!!! if it were clinton, i wouldnt even hesitate to get behind her 1000%. if carville is sending a support check to obama, all dems need to back him so we do not have a president mcsame!

it's too late and too dangerous to go back in time as we would with even more conservative judges, as mcsame promises (although we all know how good HIS word is—flippity floppity!!!)

I understand that the tide is going towards Sen. Obama, however by not trying to bring those who live in W.V. will show that he has already forgotten those individuals of the state.

He could have attack Sen. Mccain there as he has in Oregon and Kentucky. Or is it that he doesnt feel connected with those little people of the state.

Ok so now we should include some sort of magical handicapp formula to states based on how many people they have on the ground, how much money they spent, etc. This is getting more and more complicated by the minute.

Hillary usually more support on the ground means more people are willing to go out of their way for that candidate.

Hillary usually more money especially in the way that Obama has raised funds means he has more individuals supporting and believing in him.

How many more ways do you have to figure this out – you lost.

Heather M.   May 13th, 2008 2:40 pm ET

We're par for the course.

When she led in superdelegates and Obama was taking the popular vote, the popular vote didn't matter- it was all about the delegates.

When Obama took the lead in superdelegates, suddenly it was all about the popular vote.

They complained that he wasn't competing in WV…

…now they say he was "aggressive" so as to make an expected win look better.

Frankly, I walked into this race undecided and stayed that way for a long time. If she somehow manages to win the nomination, I'm voting for McCain. I'm disgusted beyond belief that this woman has stolen a place in history as the first woman to get this far- and managed to "prove" to people all over the country that a woman is a bad choice for president.

Which isn't true, of course- SHE is just a bad choice. She has made it infinitely harder for the next woman who decides to make a serious run at the White House. That, to me, is no "hero" for women to look up to.

That is the way elections have been since the beginning. If she chooses to go all the way to the convention you do not have anything to say about it. This race is not going to be decided by the media or be one sided. All the states WILL vote. All of you Obama supporters are just afriad that if justice is played out your flimsy candidate might not get the nomination or if this goes on longer he will fall on his face in some way. You do not have much confidence in him do you!!

It's funny how Clinton now wants to count the Florida and Michigan primary votes when intially she agreed they wouldn't count! The most recent spin is a loss in WV should tell the American voters that Obama won't win the general election. Hahahahahaha……… Actually, there is undeniable quantitative data (delegate votes and increasing superdelegate votes) that proves the Democratic Party doesn't want you Hilary! You don't respect the Democratic Party and it's governing rules. You'll say anything just to be heard i.e. sniper fire, gasoline break, and you win the uneducated white vote (you said it).

William   May 13th, 2008 2:39 pm ET

I have family and friends in West Virginia. The reason why this state should be a no-brainer for Clinton as well as have no intensive spending by Obama is that this state would NOT vote for a black man. It is still a state that has demographics and background which favor anyone but Obama. The analysts ask why Obama is weak in this state and areas of Pennsylvania and other states…the answer is they would rather not vote for Obama because of his skin. However, this is why its so exciting to see Obama win the nomination…because he WILL change how General Elections are ran and won. This is what the Supers and Democrats should be happy about. Not about how Clinton is trying to exploit this sad fact to get nominated. She is using divisive tactics and she knows exactly what she is doing in bringing out Kentucky folks and WV folks these next couple of weeks. Oh yeah…I used to live in southern Indiana next to Kentucky. They won't vote for Obama either. But we need to look past them and look towards the future. Clinton is basically asking the nation to consider the fact he can't win over ALL white voters, so we should just nominate her. With that approach…a black candidate would NEVER be elected by a party. We need to start somewhere and show the old voters and the old politicians times will change with the younger and educated generation. Step aside…here we come.

If Obama going to WV on Monday and running advertisement is aggressive then what do you call spending the last 7 days in WV with yourself and 2 adult family members campaigning for you. Hillary, your spin ability amazes me. First popular votes count but only if you are in the lead, then superdelagates count but only if you are in the lead. It's all based on your prospective. Poor sportsman ship is not worn well by you. I use to admire you so.

Of course this is political spin and it has been done on both sides. We all need to unite, there is no reason to disrepect Senator Clinton or her supporters. All of us are necessary to defeat John McCain in November. Please be aware that most of the attacks on Clinton and Obama and their supporters are being waged by Republicans trying to drive a wedge between the Democratic Party. Don't fall for it – we all must unite.

Is Senator Clinton ok??? Has she been having Obama-mares in West Virginia? His campaigning in that state has been far from aggressive—ssems she is seeing Obama every where she goes..LOL poor Hillary- drop out of the race and maybe the Obama-mares will stop

Sean   May 13th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

Yes, he ran an aggressive campaign. And he closed the gap! End of story. This raises no questions or concerns. Why is it that every race she wins raises concerns, but every race she loses "doesn't matter".

Toni - Atlanta   May 13th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

Someone, please help me to understand why Senator Clinton's campaign continues to incur debt in her run for the Democratic nomination, and simultaneously trying to convince the voters that she can make their lives better by fixing the economy when she becomes President. Campaign vs. United States?!!

Gary Mialocq   May 13th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

Aggressive campaign? While Hillary played the race card in one of the most racist states in the Nation, Obama picked up 27 Super Delegates. The Clinton campaign spin with Wolfson and McAuliffe has become a joke. Who can ever take these people seriously?

There is NO WAY Obama should even consider Hillaroid for Veep. She is NOT TRUSTED by 2/3 of Americans and would only be a burden. In addition, anyone who voted FOR the War in Iraq is automatically disqualified.

See ya Hillary!

Thank you Hillary you are right. I cannot believe the Democrated Party is doing this to us. Half of the people wants Hillary to win and Half wants Obama. The DNC haven't even counted Michigan and Florida's votes either. I think it is so unfair to select Obama and he hasn't even won. I think i'm going to change my party to Independent. The professionalism the Democrated Party has shown is so sad. They are trying not to count all of the votes. They are going to select an inexperience empty suit wearing guy that is scared to debate against Hillary. If he is scared to debate her how is he our strongest candidate to beat Mccain. The DNC is bascially saying forget all the remaining votes we are going with Obama. It's a sad day in Politics if Obama is their best choice. Obama will lose in the General Election to Mccain and I cannot wait to say I TOLD YOU SO!!!

Be a man, Osama, win the race, don't ask others to hand you the race; why did you call the quit when you trail after super Tuesday?

Democrats is about to screw up again, for whatever reason, they are about to pick the inexprienced weak candidate over a true leader, if Osama does steal the race, McCain will be the president!

Clinton is again trying to reframe the circumstances to make her victory more impressive.
All those saying they are true Democrats and will not vote for Obama, but for McCain instead: how do you spell hypocrisy?!?! Obama and Clinton are closer in idealogy than either are to McCain. Why will you not vote for Obama? If experience is the only answer then look back at previous presidents with all of their experience and see what that has gotten us. I'm very afraid that the problem is that Obama is a black man with a name of middle eastern origin.
If there are true policy issues with Obama, then back it up with fact. Not gut feelings, prejudice, and propaganda.

Fort Lauderdale, FL   May 13th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

That is a very good reason why you, Hillary should not run as VP on the Obama ticket. West Virginia is another in a long line of primaries that Obama lost, including the big states. Obama needs to stand and fall on his own. The Party put him in there instead of you by manipulating behind the scenes – and notoriously, by refusing the count the votes of Florida and Michigan. Go back to New York, serve the people and run for Governor if you would like that job. Obama got the nomination by Party chicanery, not by the Democratic process. The Party and Obama both deserve to lose the election. And McCain is the better choice.

DPZ   May 13th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

I dont it…..Hillary needs to cut it out and give up it is wrecking her image and smahing her chances at VP.When Carville says that
Obama is going to be the nominee I MEAN COME ON the only question now is when will Bill help her face the facts and stop lying to herself and the rest of the voters.

She thinks if she wins the popular vote somehow the DNC will
have no choice but to nominate her but the nomination is on the
count off pledged delegates which is the rule she is trying to change
she will inddeed try to play the people against the DNC and Obama
if she does not get the nomination just watch. The sad part is that she
will not win the popular vote either…..

Whine, whine, whine. This reminds me of the Indiana primary and she won by less than 2 percent. I guess Hillary will find out that money can't buy everything. I bet she didn't count on it not buying an election. Why does she think white blue collar and white seniors and women only live in WV. They live in the entire country. The country that Obama has won 30 of the 50 contests so far, including 5 of 12 primaries where blacks made up less than 10% of the voters. He also won in caucus states that are overwhelmingly white – places like Iowa, Idaho and Wyoming.

Hillary Clinton is the Democratic Party's own worst enemy. She is once again lying to the American public, dispensing false information, and inflicting damage to Obama, who is without a doubt her Party's presidential nominee. I am really beginning to believe that Hillary Clinton's Party is the Hillary Clinton Party, not the Democratic Party. The superdelegates need to get her out quick. If the behavior of her and her campaign continue through another 5 primaries, she will cause irreparable damage to the Democratic Party's chances of being successful in November. That is obviously her goal.

We all know that she is going to win WV so why Clinton people are complaining? “Obama has outspent us on advertising, has more staff in the state, and more than double the number of offices…” Is Obama asked Clinton team not to spend, have more staff and offices in the state? These arguments should not be taken in consideration by the press since we both know that at the beginning of this campaign Hillary was the one who has more advantage than anyone else. Can this people focus on the result and stop to play low?

Bitter Tommy Hussein in St. Louis   May 13th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

What??? I thought Obama hardly even tried, and that reinforced the impression among some Clinton supporters that he's arrogant and doesn't care about a small state such as West Virginia. More grasping at straws from the losing campaign, I guess. One of the most fallacious arguments that we've seen in recent weeks, is that what happens in the primaries is somehow reflective of what will happen in the general election. This is just a continuation of that.

The truth is, from a campaign strategy point of view, anyone in Obama's shoes would be stupid to pour resources into West Virginia. It's a losing cause and the stakes are so low anyway. His campaign is better off continuing to reinforce his delegate lead in states such as Oregon, and starting to work on the general election. Even the intellectually dishonest Clinton supporters who dismiss him as being arrogant for doing these things, would do the same if they were in his position. So would Hillary.

Carolina Said it Best   May 13th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

Why is it that every state that Hillary is expected to win is somehow a Crucial state? and when Obama is expected to win…it's because of the large African American community? Caucuses don't matter, but Puerto Rico does? She herself stated "Flordia and Michigan broke the rules, so they are not gonna count"…she also stated after New Hampshire…"It's a delegate race". She is hilarious…and is more of a flip flop then John McCain. No WAY should Hilary be allowed to join the ticket. It's time for a change. If Obama needs to worry about the so called "Hard Working-Blue Collar White" vote..(as if the african american blue collar vote isn't hard working)…Then I suggest he take an honorable White running mate who has integrity. Hilary has no integrity…….and think about this……after what she's implied…do you REALLY think the african american community is going to support her should she become the candidate?…I was on board despite all else until her latest comments. I'm not about race or separation…but I can't in good conscience vote for her. I'll vote NADER, or BARR first.

Theresa in Minneapolis   May 13th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

But Guys… Do you want the Democratic party to lose the election all in the name of Hillary? Do you want the Democrats to blame her and make her the scapegoat because you woudn't support the party after she lost? Is that what Hillary wants? I don't think so.

I do think she's being lead by blind ambition right now but once it's over she's going to rally with the party. I think she'll feel shame and regret if she got you guys to hate Obama that much that you're willing to vote for McCain.

There will never be enough write in's to get her elected president, either. Come on now…

First of all he's been in the state like twice and he's not even watching the results there. How aggressive has he been – really? And does that include all that free press that you've been getting about how WV will be a slam dunk for you?

Second of all, how troubling is a loss in WV when no one ever ever ever thought that he'd get more than 30% of the vote? We get it Hillary – poor uneducated white voters support you more. And guess what state is last in median income and 48th in adults with a high school diploma….

What is the meaning of aggressive. seems like the whole Clinton camp is losing some marbles not to mention dropping stitches like an old sewing machine. The media is to be blamed for printing such rubbish. SHAME ON YOU CNN! SHAME ON YOU for turning the knife in deeper. When it isn't Lanny Davis like he has lost his tail is James Carville the Clinton campaign pit bull talking pure S**t. I want to puke.

Kevin Leo (Jonesboro, GA)   May 13th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

Hillary should be congratulated for her pending victory in WV – well earned. This being said, to say that Barack aggressively campaigned in WV is just another example of why people have issues with hillry and her tendency to stretch the truth. She beat Barack in the state fair and square, don't make it out to be anything more than that. Why lie or stretch the facts when the truth will do just as well?!?!

jAYjAY   May 13th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

Me thinks the Clinton campaign should use every free press moment to speak for themselves.

Obama 08   May 13th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

Oh, my God! She is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!
No respect! She`s so ugly! It seems to me Clinton even does not respect herself. The madwoman.

Nita   May 13th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

The most intellligent people on this earth are the rural Farmers who know how to manage – they have common sense which Washington does not have. Washington is a selfish greedy bunch.
College kids these days are easily manipulated too.
Kentucky and WV will tell us how the nation goes in November. Include Pennsyvania, Ohio, Indiana w/that as well.
I don't care who wins as am retired and if it is they want Dems to raise the tax to the moon, so be it. You guys can pay for it.

We need a good independent as none of these candiates are worth much more than a brush of the hand.

I find it very sad and somewhat pathetic that Sen. Clinton feels the need to continue to build a case for the Republicans in the general election or that her supporters would rather vote for four more years of McBush than vote for Sen. Obama. I trust this nastiness is only because of the heat of the moment.

Sen. Obama won this nomination because the majority of Democrats support who he is and what he has to offer, not because we have "turned our backs on Hillary".

I pray she will stop this madness soon and wholeheartedly support and campaign for Sen. Obama. Anything less will terribly diminish her authority within the party. Let's put the nation first and come together behind our new Democratic nominee. Pres. Obama will begin to imrove this country on Day One.

Let us heal and come together.

Other States   May 13th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Will Obama's win in Oregon and Montana mean that Hillary can't get the people in those states to vote for her so we will lose those states in November. Get a life…one state has no bering on the november election…especially WV.

Ok…for all those saying if Obama is the nominee you will vote for McBush…how stupid…that we be like me saying if Hillary won I would vote for McBush…are you democrats or not…

Chris   May 13th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Is her camp whining again? He's been campaigning in other states all week, I'd hardly call his WV campaigning "aggressive" – and she also has every demographic advantage… more so than in her other "big win" states

PA – Obama brought her 20pt lead down to 9.5 even with 3 controversies going on and her having every demographic advantage, 3 campaigners (her, Bill, Chelsae), bigger backing in the states but less money

NC – Hillary brought his 20 pt lead down to 14

IN – Hillary obtained a 4-8 pt poll advantage but came out with a ~2 pt win which "may" have been helped by 7% of her votes being Republican which may have been trying to keep the race going

Primary results are MUCH different than Dem vs Rep in the fall. Additionally, we've all seen how off Polls can be – I'm amazed how much weight her camp places on "some" but not others.

tam   May 13th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

The Clinton camp is what sickens me about politics. It was widely expected that Obama would get trounced in W. Virginia. Now,, with a primary defeat certain, the Clinton camp wants to say "Obama gave it his best in W.V. He was aggressive. Yet, the people have said 'you can't win Obama.'" How ridiculous. If she doesn't win by 30-40 points, I'd say she lost W.V.

Terry   May 13th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

It will be over in November when the fat elephant sings and McCain beats Nobama. Obama can't win in November without Hillary. I won't vote for him without her. Noway.. No how. Nobama..

Bushwhacked in Eugene, OR   May 13th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Does she think that if she repeats 'he's not electable' often enough it might come true? Is she trying to convince the electorate or herself?

Hang around through June 3, HIllary. It's your right. But please, do so with some dignity and without trashing your opponent.

Brandon   May 13th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

What a joke… Why continue to make such silly arguments?

I don't know what is more laughable, that Hillary cared about Florida and Michigan all along (even though she agreed to the punishment in the beginning), that Puerto Rico popular vote should put her over the edge (Puerto Rico doesn't have a vote in the general), or this non-sense.

Danny in Pittsburgh   May 13th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

One campaign event isn't exactly aggressive…and the Obama camp shouldn't be PENALIZED for being better organized, both with manpower and campaign finances. In fact, shouldn't the person flush with cash and supporters be considered a better "ground up" Presidential candidate?

Fact of the matter is, it's not a very SMART constituency in WV. (That's a fact, not an insult).

Hillary's done very well with the less intelligent voter. And the older voter resistant to change of ANY kind.

But If that is the constituency that REALLY should decide our Presidency, then this country has more problems ahead well beyond John McBush McCain or Hillary "lowest common denominator" Clinton.

The democratic nominee is nominated by delegates, don't forget…Obama has a virtually insurmountable lead in the only measuring stick the party uses for the nomination. Sorry Popular Voter conspiracy theorists–those are the rules.

Oooops…that's right…they only apply if they BENEFIT the Clinton machine.

Lisa CA   May 13th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Unfortunately for all you Obama supporters who don't want to see the TRUTH.

Yes, Clinton will not be the nominee, but what does that say for Obama???

HE CAN'T WIN, even though he has this nomination in the bag.

This is not Clinton, it is the VOTERS in West Virginia and Kentucky.

Good Luck with Clinton supporters in the FALL!!!

NickNas   May 13th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

LOLOLOLOLOLOL PulEEEZZZZZZ She is so trying to make it look like Obama even thought for ONE Nanosecond that he had a chance in WV so she can pump up her win LOL C'Mon Billary!!! The whole WORLD knows who lives there and there is NO WAY they would have voted for him. Get over yourself. WE HAVE!!

Nikki, Florida   May 13th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

She's a nut case and the Dems who think she would be a good VP must be delusional as well.

NC4Obama   May 13th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

I thought hillary's campaign and her staff were saying that Obama didn't pay WV enough attention….NOW she's saying that he ran an "aggresive" campaign….just WOW…..this is why people don't like her, she is such a liar and has no integrity.

Extinct Snipe   May 13th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

The Clinton camp must be getting ready for either a loss or only a close win in West Virginia. Either case it's not what they expected by what they deemed "hard working whites." Hillary would have spent even more than she did in WV only she doesn't have the money. And we all know the saying, "Show me the money!" The only person whose willing to invest money in a losing cause is Hillary because nobody wants to invest their money in her, only her. If Obama loses WV then it won't be unexpected. The Obama camp predicted they would lose WV, but what's going to be interesting is if it's closer than predicted and even better if he actually wins. Obama for President!

Disappointed   May 13th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

On Fox Networks Sunday program Howard Wolfson said that Obama was not campaigning agressively in West Virginia or Kentucky- which one is it?

kim in portland, oregon   May 13th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

everyone—including clinton and her camp—knows these losses dont mean a thing. yes, it would have been nice to win, but it doesnt matter that he didnt. obama is the democratic nominee.

as for having her as his VP. part of me thinks it's a terrible idea cuz i'd love to see richardson or edwards (my #1 choice for pres) as obama's VP. however, the MOST IMPORTANT thing is that we DO NOT have a republican president! so whatever it takes to send mcsame back home to be cindy's nightmare again and not ours!!!!!

Ever since news became a money-making proposition, CNN and others stand to profit from attracting viewers. Stories like this one only serve to keep this race alive and therefore generate ratings for CNN, much like the other networks use racy material during sweeps.

That is the only context in whic this campaign coverage makes any sense. There is no true "repoting" of the facts and circumstances. People read there's still a race, so like sheep they keep tuning in to CNN to find out what happened. This race has been over for weeks, if not months.

Joanne   May 13th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

Obama supporters I wouldn't brag this information if I were you afterall he is only running to become the President of the USA. LOL LOL LOL

So you are allsaying WV does not COUNT. Wow!!!!! Nothing more needs to be said.

Hillary 08

Joe   May 13th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

I had no idea Rockefeller was from WV!! The media should be highlighting that. I thought he had no one in that state but Rockefeller has been campaigning for him since February. Plus the Clinton campaign has a point I heard he had over 20 offices statewide and he outspent her 3 to 1 in WV. Don't tell me the voters don't know him enough. He's known worldwide, the WV voters know him just as much as anyone else.

Darth Vadik, CA   May 13th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

oh yes,
do you know why Hillary is even close to the popular vote,
becasue the caucus states (5 of them) did not count as a popular vote

SO STOP THIS CRAP

you want to run Hillary, ge be Naders or Bob Barrs VP.

Obama and his pundits have stolen the presidency from Hillary Clinton just like Bush stole the presidency from Gore. The democratic party is just like the republican party. Hillary go independent and forget about the democractic party. A lot of people will support.

Crystal Street   May 13th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

OMG! I gotta love it. He spends one day there…yesterday…and now he ran an agressive race? I would be curious to know exactly how much was spent by the Obama campaign no radio and TV advertisement in WV…….I am sure it wasn't a significant amount……

Joe St Louis, MO   May 13th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

I am glad they point out to obvious all the time. We will not be held captive to the undereducated racist anymore. I respect all people and education levels. But this is the time to try to make things better.

Bart in SC   May 13th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

To Obama Supporters:

I have posted the same type of comments for days!!!!

Once again the Obama supporters can not stop hating on Hillary. It really makes it difficult for Hillary supporters like myself to support Obama's campaign. I have alot of respect for Obama but I made a difficult choice between two great candidates and decided to support Hillary. I will continue to support her as long as she is in the primary race.

Obama will get my vote in November if he is the nominee but I will not feel good about working on a campaign that has bloggers like this.

lars   May 13th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

So why does CNN report that Obama did NOT
campaign there?
One of these two is lying!

Sorcha   May 13th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Yeesh.

First, they say that he made only one campaign appearance in the state and use that as evidence that he doesn't care about West Virginia.

In the next breath they say he mounted an "agressive campaign."

Which is it?

I guess it depends on what the meaning of "is" is.

Marcus B   May 13th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Hillary Clinton is a very funny woman. Her campaign spins EVERYTHING!!! She will stop at nothing to be President. She doesn't to run the country, she wants the title. With a husband like Bill Clinton, one of the best presidents in modern history, do people really think that Hillary Clinton will be doing the work?!?!?! That's absurd. She needs to have a seat and start getting her supporters to back Obama, who is CLEARLY the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.

OBAMA '08!!!!!!

Watching every move   May 13th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Are you kidding me? The Clintons do not know when to stop. They are true poor sports who cannot admit defeat. They will still be on the field screaming and hollering after all the fans and the other team have left the park and the lights are turned off. As far as I'm concerned stay on the field as long as you want. The longer you stay the more iditoic and foolish you look and that will go down in your legacy.

Whiskey   May 13th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

I love how all the "if not Hillary then McCain" fools are saying that Obama can not win in November. As she could, Look there is a reason why she is not winning the election you morons and you think she could win in November. She cant even win the primary.

Obama's failure to win in Appalachia means about as much as Clinton's inability to win in the West.

I would like to know why it is perfectly acceptable for the media to declare this race over and in effect tell Mrs. Clinton to sit down. How dare you declare a winner before all votes have been cast and all voters a chance to speak out for their choice.

Obama's lead?
pledged delegates; approx. 160-170, that's before today's WVa vote
superdelegates; 4
popular vote; less than 500,000 with nearly 5 million expected votes yet to be cast

CNN and other news agencies should stop playing king-maker. Disgraceful!!

Marshall   May 13th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

CNN – Please Post or do you want a divided party?
People…I am guilty of bashing. Yes, I can admit it. But we all are. It is time to stop blaming each other. Both sides did it. It wasn't just the Obama supporter or just the Clinton supporters. IT WAS BOTH SIDES.

We need to get past the he said, she said playground justice and focus on the real issue…KEEPING MCCAIN out of the White House.

As I said before, I am guilty. I bashed on both sides. I started supporting one candidate and later changed sides. Who I support doesn't matter because their stand on the issues is almost identical.

Rush wants us to continue to bash and to keep us weak because he knows we could get anyone elected if we stood together. He fears US…A UNITED DEMOCRATIC PARTY!

So let's leave the name calling and finger pointing to the children on the playgrounds and act like adults. Once again, me included.

Let's end the negative and focus on the challenge…Beating McCain.

This is my pledge. Who stands with me?

Pam   May 13th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

LMAO!!!! Someone get Hillary a dictionary so she can look up the word "aggressive"!

Barry from PA   May 13th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

I understand her need to continue to portray herself as a viable candidate and that this is a real race. But if Senator Clinton is to have any shot at being on the ticket with Obama as his VP choice, her campaign needs to stop these backhanded slaps at Obama, and stop it today! Aggressive campaign, when he first visited West Virginia yesterday? Do they think ANYONE is actually swallowing that garbage? Oh right, the same people who believe in the gas tax relief boondoggle.

mark   May 13th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Yeah, we all remember how fiercely Obama has been campaigning in WV …WHAT?? She accused him of not caring about the state and now she says this?? Don't insult our intelligence Senator Clinton!!
More lies, more spin, more depressing politics from Hillary

Robert in Toronto,ON   May 13th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Obama spent one day in WV…and he's aggresively campaigning there, eh??? (sorry Canadian accent)

So what you are done hillary you can spin and spin as much as you want but the facts would not change as it stands now you are 180 delegates behind, you are 800K behind in popular vote and Obama won twice as much states, he is aheard in superdelegates vote, as a result you are "Toast".

Robin   May 13th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Terry McAuliffe clearly stated on one of the cable news channels, just this morning, that Obama did NOT compete in WV and chastised him for that. Hillary- you CAN"T have it both ways. Please stop with the spin. You are OUT now.

Tina   May 13th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

Does this woman ever stop lying??? Obama ran an aggressive campaign? He barely spent time in the state. He knows the hearts and minds of those people…the ones that think Hillary is one of them (Has she offered them any of her and Bill's $109 million?) BTW, if that's the amount they are admitting, how much do you suppose they really have?

Still 4 Obama   May 13th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

The Clinton crew are such liars!!!!! This weekend all her campaign managers were on all the weekend shows PO'd because Obama wasn't competing in WV. Which is it Timmy two face????????

America   May 13th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

I think the day after Hillary Clinton loses the nomination, she will file for divorce from her husband Bill.

Therefore, this election year will be a win-win for Bill Clinton!

Greg   May 13th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

'Aggressive race'? She lies again… Wow! She is so desperate… IT'S OVER, HON!!! Who cares ?

Robert in Toronto,ON   May 13th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

This is the kinda ish-talking that gets Obama backers upset. Don't talk to us about having Hillary Clinton on the ticket as VP because it's a FARCE. She would no sooner have Barack Obama come down with food poisoning if she thought she could be President while he was in bed. She's NOT in it for the country. Or her party. She's in it for HERSELF. GAWD! It baffles me the blinding support this woman gets.

And quickly, do you kknow if she won even at 80 – 20 tonight she'd take the number of delegates at 23 -5? I mean…she's LOSING BY OVER 150! IT'S OVER!
