Clinton campaign: Obama ran an 'aggressive' WV race

Clinton campaign said Obama should stop downplaying expectations in West Virginia.
Clinton campaign said Obama should stop downplaying expectations in West Virginia.

(CNN) - As voters headed to the polls in West Virginia in a contest Hillary Clinton is expected to win, a memo released by her campaign argued that Barack Obama had waged an “aggressive campaign” in the state – and that a loss by the Illinois senator there would raise troubling questions about his general election chances.

"In the face of grim poll numbers, the Obama campaign has attempted to dismiss today's outcome despite the fact that Sen. Obama has outspent us on advertising, has more staff in the state, and more than double the number of offices,” said the campaign in an e-mail sent to reporters Tuesday.

“He has also benefited from the support of the most high-profile endorsers in West Virginia-Sen. Jay Rockefeller and Congressman Nick Rahall. By every measure, the Obama campaign has waged an aggressive campaign in the Mountain State," they said.

The Obama campaign has been looking to downplay the results of West Virginia’s vote, spending the evening in Michigan, a fall battleground. Obama trails Clinton by 30-40 points in recent polls of the state’s primary voters.

This is the kinda ish-talking that gets Obama backers upset. Don't talk to us about having Hillary Clinton on the ticket as VP because it's a FARCE. She would no sooner have Barack Obama come down with food poisoning if she thought she could be President while he was in bed. She's NOT in it for the country. Or her party. She's in it for HERSELF. GAWD! It baffles me the blinding support this woman gets.

And quickly, do you kknow if she won even at 80 – 20 tonight she'd take the number of delegates at 23 -5? I mean...she's LOSING BY OVER 150! IT'S OVER!

    NO CLINTON!

I think the day after Hillary Clinton loses the nomination, she will file for divorce from her husband Bill.

Therefore, this election year will be a win-win for Bill Clinton!

Does this woman ever stop lying??? Obama ran an aggressive campaign? He barely spent time in the state. He knows the hearts and minds of those people...the ones that think Hillary is one of them (Has she offered them any of her and Bill's $109 million?) BTW, if that's the amount they are admitting, how much do you suppose they really have?

Continue your nasty campaign, the train is going to leave you. Jump on it now and support the democratic ticket of Obama/Napolitano. Tell Clinton to go back to the Senate, lest she loses her own seat.

Terry McAuliffe clearly stated on one of the cable news channels, just this morning, that Obama did NOT compete in WV and chastised him for that. Hillary- you CAN"T have it both ways. Please stop with the spin. You are OUT now.

I understand her need to continue to portray herself as a viable candidate and that this is a real race. But if Senator Clinton is to have any shot at being on the ticket with Obama as his VP choice, her campaign needs to stop these backhanded slaps at Obama, and stop it today! Aggressive campaign, when he first visited West Virginia yesterday? Do they think ANYONE is actually swallowing that garbage? Oh right, the same people who believe in the gas tax relief boondoggle.
