Clinton campaign: Obama ran an 'aggressive' WV race

Clinton campaign said Obama should stop downplaying expectations in West Virginia.
Clinton campaign said Obama should stop downplaying expectations in West Virginia.

(CNN) - As voters headed to the polls in West Virginia in a contest Hillary Clinton is expected to win, a memo released by her campaign argued that Barack Obama had waged an “aggressive campaign” in the state – and that a loss by the Illinois senator there would raise troubling questions about his general election chances.

"In the face of grim poll numbers, the Obama campaign has attempted to dismiss today's outcome despite the fact that Sen. Obama has outspent us on advertising, has more staff in the state, and more than double the number of offices,” said the campaign in an e-mail sent to reporters Tuesday.

“He has also benefited from the support of the most high-profile endorsers in West Virginia-Sen. Jay Rockefeller and Congressman Nick Rahall. By every measure, the Obama campaign has waged an aggressive campaign in the Mountain State," they said.

The Obama campaign has been looking to downplay the results of West Virginia’s vote, spending the evening in Michigan, a fall battleground. Obama trails Clinton by 30-40 points in recent polls of the state’s primary voters.

why is it that the obama supporters are so vicious when they talk of hillary? is it because they are insecure about their leader?why do people try to shut down an election that hasn't finished why are they afraid? why do they have to and want to destroy the legacy of the clintons?they have been very good for the country, why would anyone who is trying to get elected try to destroy what half of the country love the clintons?people are really forgetting that the clinton years were prosperous. and people were all working and getting houses for the first time. also back then the african americans loved the clintons because the helped them so much over the years. the love was mutal till obama came along and divided the race into a race issue. too bad because it wasn't right and it was dishonest to blame the clintons to get ahead.

Marshall wonderful post I could not agree with you more I myself started out a Hillary supporter and later switched! around the time Iowa went down. This junior high school name calling that all of us have devolved into is sad and in many cases just plain nasty! I call on all democrats please lets focus on the task at hand beating John Mc Cain and getting a democrat back in the white house! Hillary has lost fair and square for anyone to say other wise is again childish! Sen Obama has won by the rules that they agreed to and we have selected a candidate for 20 years under. Lets leave the Clinton talking points were they belong in the trash. I keep seeing mad Clinton supporters posting just total lies that can be verified and looked up in 5 min on the internet. The both agreed MI and FL would not count. The media was bias towards both at different times in the race. had the media done its job on the NAFTA thing with Canada I do not think this battle would have gone on this long Sen Obama would have won both but once again as we see today the Clinton machine of lies was at it then to and the media jumped on it. Either way Primary is almost over she can stay in it is her choice however she needs to cut the lies and stay positive and focused as our democratically elected nominee has been! Lets leave these childish slams and name calling. Yes i speak of lies but those are facts! If you want to read the latest scroll up and read the ticker post again not just the title. LIES LIES LIES

Go Obama 08 Yes We Can

I thought that the SUPERDELEGATES were the party elders and had superior intellect.

I just can't understand why these superdelegates are flooding to Obama. Obama has serious electability issues and WV is just one example.

Currently, Obama is not competive in OH, FL, AR, and WV. In head to head polling with McCain, he is losing all these states. In addition, head to head polling in states that should be strongly democratic, such as PA could possibly go to McCain. Even in MO, another swing state, Hillary is polling better than Obama.

No matter how this party and the liberal media try to hide it, Obama is having electability issues.

Democrats are in denial. Obama is not electable and his argument that he will win CO, NM, SD, NE and IA is laughable. He cannot run all these states and besides, they don't have enough electoral votes.

Ask yourselfs whose math isn't adding up. Check out the polls. Go to Real Clear Politics.

Obama may have more resources to invest and a larger pool of energetic supporters wherever he goes, but I think it's obvious that Clinton tried harder in WV. Obama made few public appearances and moved on to other states before today, even though WV is the only primary of the day.

THIS WOMEN IS SO FAR GONE THAT SHE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW WHEN SHE IS RUNNING AGAINS HERSLEF. HE SPENT MORE MONEY THEN HER BECAUSE SHE HAS NO MONEY. HE HAS MORE STAFF BECAUSE HERS HAVE ALL PACKED IT IN. THOSE ARE SUPER DEL THAT HAVE ENDORSED HIM. THIS WOMEN NEEDS A BOTTLE.

I wish I could see everyone's expressions when McCain wins in November. I think that a lot of Obama's supporters actually think that Obama has a chance to win in November.

    So Hillary;

admits that she has had great difficulty in balancing her campaign budget

admits that Obama's camp is more resourceful and organized

and she thinks she is the better candidate to run the country's affairs!!!

Obama is clearly the superior leader

Obama is clearly the more honest of the two

Obama is clearly in this for the right reason – I'm not convinced that Hillary and Bill Clinton are. This is all about their EGO and not about the USA.

I wonder how many Speach stops did Bill do for Obama in WV. Opps, I got that mixed up with North Carolina. Anyway, I guess the poll will narrow a bit since he aggressively campaigned.

I wonder what the final tally will be 51-49 maybe?

    Give us a break, please.

  17. So, Furiousdee...

....since not all states have had a chance to vote on the Republican side yet, does that mean that the Republican race isn't really over?

What's wrong with looking at the size of someone's lead, looking at the size of the remaining contests and drawing conclusions from that? If a football team is down 28 points with 2 minutes left, the game is over right? So would you have a problem with the announcers declaring the game was over?

I don't think people are opposed to Hillary staying in the race on principle, it's the fact that she goes into attack mode and weakens Obama's chances in the general election that has people objecting...if she would run a positive campaign for the next few weeks and talk about her own virtues rather than his flaws, no one would mind at all.....but she can't manage to do that for some reason, since she's so shocked and upset that what she believed was rightfully hers has now been taken away. To use the football analogy, she's like the team losing by 28 points with 2 minutes to go and taking cheap shots to try and hurt the other team so that they'll lose the next week

John Edwards put his finger on what has been wrong with this race the other day. Basically, it's gone like this:

    Obama: Yes We Can

    Clinton: No He Can't

She sent that e-mail to reporters?

That should have went to the people in KY and WV, they seem in the dark (ages).

    Everyone else knows its hogwash.

Winning WV by a landslide is like winning $5 in the Million dollar lotto. You won, but really, did you?

Congrats Hillary, you took the state that ranks 48th in people that have completed high school. You will also win Kentucky, they are #50. And you had deceive them with the race card. But really, you are not a racist, Hillary, you just encited the racists. Not all of WV are bigots, just most of them.

They may be hard working, and white, but it doesn't represent the entire country.

Again, Kudos to Hillary. You could have accomplished the same thing from home.

Hillary's "campaign" is not a campaign any more – it's a traveling comedy show about a lady in need of psychiatric help, and nobody helps her.

Sorry u pathetic Obami supporters –the race is not over till Hillary (the lady wearing the pants) says so –so until then rather keep your SWAGGERING nominee (if thats what you call this "person" ) out of the contest as I really feel so sorry for yourselves should he by any remote chance be elected as President –then all the liberal white young voters will be shown up for their stupid idea of supporting such a candidate –do u really think he is going to give you any special benefits for helping to elect him? NO not at all –he will go back to support Rev Rite and his anti semitic bretheren - just look at ZImbabwe and look at his hometown of Kenya and even look at south africa with all it affirmative BEE (black economic empowerment??) -is this what/who you want to BE your future President?? Give me Hillary and Bill anytime –and if not then John M
McCain will get my vote!!!!! and remember that I am NOT a racist (just being clever and using my so called intuition and common sense} which u Obamis have definitely seemed to have lost on the long road to freedom!!! as Mr Mandela (remember him??) once wrote...
