McCain to make SNL appearance

McCain, who has been the subject of several SNL sketches this season, will appear on the show this weekend.

(CNN) - John McCain is known to tell a joke from time to time, but how will the Arizona senator stand up next to comedian Steve Carell?

McCain is slated to appear on Saturday Night Live this weekend, during which Carell will play host, a McCain aide confirms to CNN.

The aide says the presumptive Republican presidential nominee will head to New York Saturday to rehearse for his role, though it remains unclear exactly what part he will play.

McCain hosted the comedy sketch show himself in 2002.

Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have also made appearances on the show this year.

Maybe "Songbird" McCain will sing like he did at the Hanoi Hilton for his North Vietnamese captors in the '60's.

The song might be something like "here are the attack altitudes, package routes, flight paths of all the fixed wing fighter aircraft flying over North de da... now give me medical attention, an apartment in Hanoi and a couple hookers...doo be doo!

Doug said "How pathetic for McCain and desperate of SNL to have this fraud appear on their show."

I think it's hilarious that some of you guys are getting all fired-up about SNL. All the candidates are supposed to get equal time on shows like this. It's not like SNL is endorcing one or the other by having them on the show. Plus, this gives them a chance to completely make fun of McCain right to his face! Priceless!

    Stephen Colbert '08!

    McCain is sooooo OLD!!

Wanna hear a funny joke about an old person?!?!?

Or maybe we should respect our elders??

Respect isn't exactly a quality you see in Obama supporters...

McCain has Hagee and a few others. Obama has Wright.

I look forward to the day when we can put modern religions in the same category as the Greek and Roman Gods. Nice stories and myths. Every time I see something on Hagee or Wright I become more and more of an atheist.

I am LOVING how the "feminists" are going to undo themselves, voting against their own best interests by putting McCain in office just because they aren't getting Hillary nominated! This is hilarious! They're proving that nobody EVER nominate a woman for president again, because too many women can't seperate the candidate from the gender! Nobody's going to want to risk another inter-party civil war again, thanks to the crossover Hillary supporters. Once again, so-called "feminists" are their own worst enemies! I hope you're still smug when Roe V. Wade gets overturned on McCain's watch!

Is it true Hillary is going to be on Dancing with the Stars? That's about her speed, she's so desperate to keep in the limelight.

Sounds like a good time! That's what America needs is someone who can stand up to a good roasting.... like Lewis Black said: "the only thing that seperates us from our enemies, is our sense of humor"

Say what you want...McCain is going to WIN! Signed- a young, liberal, against the war, educated female, independent, with a multiracial family who is voting for McCain. The dems don't have it together and don't deserve my vote. And if you think that ANYONE can snap their fingers and get us out of Iraq, then you are seriously being bluffed.

The most common sense and true comments I've read here are Chris's from 5/13 at 3:53. Most of you people are really showing your mean spirited side and it's shameful. Where is all this anger and venom coming from? Wow, Chris, right on target!

Belle, if you are stupid enough to let the SUPPORTERS of a candidate upset you enough to vote the other way, then you and those like you are weak minded, and were never going to vote for them in the first place....

How 'bout basing your vote on something trivial like...
    their position on the war
how will they get us OUT of the war
    the mortgage crisis
the economy and how it will be addressed
    the price of gas
who will be the least corrupt politician

    NO race
    NO gender
    NO age
    NO hate....

AND NO IDIOTIC COMMENTS ABOUT HOW "SO AND SO'S SUPPORTERS ARE SO NASTY.... "wHAAAA".. SO I'M GONNA VOTE THE OTHER WAY.... WHAAAA". I hate resorting to name calling... but WHAT could be more STUPID than that???

McCain's constituency doesn't watch SNL, it's way past their bedtime. Maybe he could sponsor reruns of the Lawrence Welk Show or be a guest host on the Price is Right.

Mccain was no hero even in its "mainstream" sense, as he was NEVER tortured as he has been claiming all along (read the testinomies of the vietnamese people who pulled him out of the lake he fell in and saved him out of pity), as his wounds were from injuries due to crash, and as he readily provide whatever he could to save his but (which is fine by me).

in the non-mainstream sense, he's only a murderous soldier with no conscience to speak of. he's been milking his crimes against humanity (vietnamese and iraqis) for a spot in Hell.
