This is a clear demonstration of the impact that the scorched earth Clinton campaign has caused - Obama supporters alienated from a Clinton candidacy, and Clinton supporters refusing to support Obama because of the deep divisions that Hillary Clinton has caused.

We New Yorkers need to begin asking ourselves whether we need such a divisive political hack representing us in the US Senate - let alone the White House.

Why does this news seem a surprise. A lot of Obama supporters are backing him simply because he is an alternative to having the Clintons back in office. You could have put my pet cat up against the Clintons and they might have done as well.

If you are looking for political motivations for the state of West Virginia, look no further than their Senator Robert Byrd. Erstwhile member of the KKK, opponent of confirmation of both black Supremes (Thurgood Marshall, the liberal and Clarence Thomas, the conservative), Condi Rice, and many other black government officials. Read his bio on Wikipedia and see who the people of WV have voted for for longer than any other serving senator.

They do not matter.

I did think about supporting Obama after the Indiania and N.C. primaries, but after I've been reading these posts I realize his supporters are leftist socialists who will spew hate and racism everywhere; and when Obama loses in Nov, you can expect them to blame it on Clinton and her "racist" supporters.

As a voter from somewhere outside of Oregon . . . I don't care about West Virginia's "values." By lots of measurements, this is a state whose voters are especially racist and especially uneducated. I would rather heed the advice of people who tend to be smart and enlightened.

It is Hillary only for me.

Obama is a lying, sneaky hypocrit that has cheated his way to a small, narrow lead by playing the race card and disenfranchising voters.
He has mocked, jeered and ridiculed his much more qualified opponent.

Those are not my values.

His supporters are vitriolic and hateful- posting vulgar, filthy, denigrating insults.

Regrding Mary's comment: May 13th, 2008 7:11 pm ET

HELLO!!!!!!! THE FOLKS OF WEST VIRGINIA WOULD RATHER HAVE MCCAIN THEN BARACK BECAUSE MCCAIN IS WHITE….WILL SOMEONE IN THE MEDIA PLEASE SAY THE TRUTH…THESE PEOPLE IN WEST VIRGINIGA PENNSYLVANIA, KENTUCKY, OHIO, ETC. WHO SAY THEY DON'T WANT OBAMA…ARE SIMPLE VOTING BASED ON THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN.

I'm sure there are racist Hillary supporters out there, however how is their voting for her because she's white any different than an African-American voting for Obama because he's black? Let's not ignore the fact that he has ~90% of their votes. Can you really tell me NONE of them are voting for him because he shares their skin color?

Don't get me wrong, I'm by no means saying it right, but step back and look at your own candidate's supporters. There are plenty of Hillary supporters out there (myself included) who are voting her because we think she's the better candidate. It has nothing to do with race. Get a grip!!!

How could you even suggest Al Gore would play second fiddle to Obama. Give me a break. Hillary and Bill have done nothing to the Democratic party except help it. He was a wonderful president, indiscretions and all. She's a good candidate and would be a good president. It takes someone tough to be president and she is!!! What's wrong with letting everyone vote. Aren't we the party of everyone gets to vote? Obama supporters are just nasty and hateful. They say awful things about Hillary and Bill. Give it a rest. Let the voting continue and may the best woman win!!!!

The Democratic party is not my conscience. It's too bad that the Obama people are blindly following the DNC into an abyss of left wing hell. Clinton supporters are using their good judgment when they declare they won't vote for Obama and will not be responsible for America's down fall.

Stop blaming Clinton for our choices. We are people of democracy who don't need any advice from a failed political party to decide our fate.

This is in response to the earlier exit poll on the economy being the most important issue.

It doesn't add up that the hard working "blue collar" voters select any economic campaign message of HRC. She is definitely a fighter and should be admired for that, but her message to this segment of the electorate is purely convenience for her to garner votes. I don't think these voters, who are the those who face the greatest economic hardship under the current circumstances, should really pay all that much heed to a candidate whose campaign finances are in the red. Is this how you really want the economy in the country to be? This the type of reckless abandon that has gotten the country into economic hardship it is facing in the first place.

Yes, she has some great ideas and social policies, but she is hell bent on getting her way in everything that she does that she destroys what she is out to get. ie. Look to the universal healthcare failure in the '90s. She thinks far too linearly and doesn't recognize that although grit and determination are extremely valuable traits to have, so are the ability to think with a level head, be able to bring others into a process, and being open to ideas from others.

This campaign is about uniting in order to win, not taking out vendettas against other members of the party.

Isn't this the state that the movie "Deliverance" was filmed in?

You know, Obama has been polling in the low to mid 20 in WV since all the way back in February. In fact, back in March Clinton was leading 55% to 27% with 18% undecided.

This so-called racial divide in WV is old news.

Would Hillary be there if she were not Bill Clinton's wife? Being married to a president does not qualify her for anything. Would she even be a senator without being his wife? No. She has media exposure which has given her name recognition - She hasn't done anything more than Obama has in the Senate. I was a big supporter of Bill Clinton; but I've seen enough of him in this campaign.
He weakens her; can't she do it without him?

I think these polls are are insignificant. Clinton and Obama are far more similar than they are different as illustrated by the fact that their Health Plans are nearly identical. Each camp has to highlight the differences between the candidates to rally their supporters to the primary booths. The truth is that they are of like minds on most issues. Although they do not APPEAR the same, they certainly share the same values, all posturing and pandering aside. Perhaps my faith is misplaced but I do believe the American electorate will see in the end and that the Democrats will rally around the candidate elect because 8 years of a Republican administration has been a disaster and 4 more years of the same cannot be an option.

No offense but people have their own values that separate from one another....

CNN always seems to have "sobering news", and yet the Democrats keep on doing very well this year.

I have a feeling that it's CNN's reporters that could use a little sobering.

I've never heard such a bunch of hopeless, feckless fearmongers in all my life.

Anyone who does NOT vote for the Democratic nominee, regardless of whom it turns out to be, should be ashamed of themselves for allowing their pride & bitterness to interfere in our country's and children's future. Let US, put an end to the Bush policies in 2009. (Don't play into the Republican game.)

Hillary will make it right when she throws her support to Barack Obama on June 4 and touts their similarities. She'll encourage her supporters to vote for Obama and they will fall in line because they are loyal to Hillary and will do as she asks.

Apparently my first comment about WV being the least intelligent state and being pro-Hillary was deemed unacceptable by the Clinton News Network (CNN).

But the truth is WV is number 50 when talking about educated people and they proved that by being so blatently racist in this primary. If all these racist people in WV want HRC, then that's just another reason for her to NOT win the nomination.
