Obama gets NARAL endorsement

(CNN) - Barack Obama has picked up the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America, an organization that has supported Hillary Clinton in the past.

"Sen. Obama has been a strong advocate for a woman's right to choose throughout his career in public office," NARAL President Nancy Keenan said in a statement Wednesday. "He steadfastly supports and defends a woman's right to make the most personal, private decisions regarding her reproductive health without interference from government or politicians."

The president of EMILY’s List, a group that supports pro-choice Democratic women candidates, called NARAL's endorsement "tremendously disrespectful" to Hillary Clinton.

“I think it is tremendously disrespectful to Sen. Clinton - who held up the nomination of a FDA commissioner in order to force approval of Plan B and who spoke so eloquently during the Supreme Court nomination about the importance of protecting Roe vs. Wade - to not give her the courtesy to finish the final three weeks of the primary process," Ellen Malcolm said in a statement. "It certainly must be disconcerting for elected leaders who stand up for reproductive rights and expect the choice community will stand with them.”

A ‘Crushing’ win in WV and a 1 SD gain (and not this one). Slow news day. The uninformed droves who make up the white uneducated voter base of Hillary Clinton would vote for a canned ham or a six-pack as long as it isn't black or has branches on its family tree.

Moreover, many of Hillary's more jaded supporters have proudly proclaimed that they would vote for John McCain WHEN Senator Obama wins the nomination.

If this is in fact true, then these same supporters need to put their money where their mouth is, and march straight to their local armed services recruiting center and sign up for McCain’s 100 year plan; and the war Hillary proudly voted for. They have wireless in Bagdad.

Cue those cute munchkins and watch out for the flying house. Ding..Dong….

Hillary supporters don't let the Republicans sway you in to believing that you shouldn't vote for Obama. He will have Hillary's support if he wins the nomination. One of the biggest powers a President has is to select the justices of the country. McCain has already said he will follow in Bush's footsteps. With those types of justices we will lose all of our rights. The only waisted vote is the vote not casted. Vote for Hillary but if she losses please don't vote for McCain or worse yet not vote. We all want the same thing, only we think our person is better for the delivery.

I don't see how any man, anywhere, in any position and with any title thinks he has the right to tell a woman whether or not she should or should not have a baby. This should not even be a discussion for men to have. Leave politics out of women's ovaries.

If, indeed, Barack Obama hopes to be the unification candidate, he might find, just as in the case of Jeremiah Wright, that pro-abortion will be a sticking point with many who were drawn to his hopeful premise for our country. When both sides of this debate fosters the hope of adoption for any child whose parents chose not to raise it, then we can reach that nirvana.

Just becuase Obama is a man does not mean he has not been fighting for reproductive rights. Please look it up? ADAM-TX do your research...

Theese two candidates stand together on this issue. why are we faulting NARAL for endorsing the clear winner?

ARE YOU PEOPLE SAYING THEY SHOULD HAVE ENDORSED HER JUST BECAUSE SHE'S A WOMAN... nah thats not what you're saying right?

Well I guess everybody who is in the loop realises this primary is over and done with now.

Hillary also said she expects those who voted for her to support Obama once he is the official nominee.

The internal fight is over, it is time to realise what is the best for the country, the economy, the international standing and the future of your children now.

No more Republican in the White House, no matter what his name is, as few as possible in the Senate and congress as well, so the new president can work with a majority allround and make things happen for the good of the nation.

The clean-up after the Shrub and his cronies can now begin in november. It will be a hard thing to clean up, but that mess will be cleaned up again....

Be ready the media and the Obama clan will say and do anything to push Hillary out of the race.

It's good to know who is endorsing Sen. Obama.

I'm sure many more super delegates are going to come out and flock to Obama before Kentucky primary, he needs all the help he can get to convince people not to vote.

    Hillary or McCain 2008!

CNN. Why will you not post my comment about Sen. Obama's voting record in Illinois?

Do you not want people to know that Sen. Obama won't even consider a baby outside of it's mothers body a human being if it is breathing but was intended to be an abortion? Not a human life in his eyes. (Illinois senate bill – SB1095... look it up folks)

Great endorsement NARAL. Breathing babies not alive according to the man you just endorsed. Is that what you mean by reproductive rights?

Obviously, ppl still do not get it. With all the negatives(from BOTH sides) we still need to get around the Democratic Nominee. Just so you all know.....John Edwards just endorsed Obama...So if you still want another 4-8 years of ALL OF OUR PRESENT MISERY....Consider if you want to vote Republican....That's all I have to say.

This election process should be color-blind, and gender-blind. Obviously, many blacks support Obama because he's black, and many women support Hillary because she's a woman.

But Hillary has black supporters too. And Obama has women supporters. And a Pro-Life group can support a man just as surely as they can support a woman.

It is sad to contemplate American politics to be echoed with such bias in your media. Not just CNN, all the others too. They all have been supporting Obama.
Problem is, he is the wrong choice simply because he cannot measure up to McCain in the polls.
It seems that Obama versus Clinton is a personal revenge from the "elephants" of the party. It simply means that, once again, democrats cannot make it by choosing the wrong candidate.
How intelligent is it to put two strong candidates against each other when Clinton was favorite anyway?
The Dems do not deserve to win, once again.
Clinton is needed for America and the world. Obama can wait for his time.

That is exactly the problem with how the Clintons handle their political business behind the scenes – through fear and intimidation. Even though a contingent of Clinton supporters mirror this attitude (as evidenced by posts such as yours), when Barack Obama makes history in November and BEATS John McCain for the Presidency, he and his administration along with a revitalized Democratic Congress will change this country for the better! Even for you, dmw!

Back on topic, NARAL and John Edwards today endorse the next President of the United States...Barack Obama!

Edwards is right on target! Obama for President and Edwards as Vice President! That's an unstoppable combination. It would be a match to CHANGE the course of the country. As peoples of the U.S. we would not be seen as babaric racists (as offered by other candidates) but instead world citizens.
