(CNN) - CNN has confirmed that former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards will endorse Barack Obama shortly at a Michigan campaign event.
The endorsement could help Obama reach out to white, blue-collar voters - a demographic group that Obama has failed to capture, most notably in the recent Pennsylvania and West Virginia primaries.
Edwards received 7 percent of the vote in Tuesday's West Virginia contest.
The former North Carolina senator had campaigned on the message that he was standing up for the little guy, the people who are not traditionally given a voice in Washington, and that he would do more to fight special interests.
After dropping out of the race on January 30, Edwards asked both Clinton and Obama to make poverty a central issue of the general election and a future Democratic administration, something both agreed to do.
Thank God for a good man like John Edwards. Way to go John I knew you would step up to the plate and show the world you are the great man I always took you for.
Why is it John Edwards always goes with the loser????
My guess is that he will be announcing that Senator Obama and Senator Clinton will join forces to fund the Democratic campaign for the DNC.
Its about time!
Say "good night" Hillary.
To MD Houston:
There you go again. That was NOT an Obama campaign office! That was a private volunteer office set up on Southmore Blvd BEFORE the campaign ever arrived in Houston. One of the volunteers in that office was from Cuba and didn't realize that the flag would be offensive to anyone. When the local media ran a picture of that flag, she took the flag down and decided to not to volunteer there anymore.
WHEN the campaign arrived in Houston, they set up their campaign HQ on Travis Street in Houston and had no contact with the volunteer office on Southmore Blvd.
I know – I'm from Houston and I know the whole story. You probably do too since it was all sorted out in the press. You're just trying to float out another stupid rumor, stating it as FACT, in hopes that people believe you and get bad feelings about Barack Obama. Nice try, but you've just been corrected.
Don't do it Sen. Obama. Let's keep her in the grave that she dug herself into and I'm find just leaving her there. I would support Sen. Edwards as your running mate, but hell no to Clinton. And to all you Clinton supporters, please do the math, she's all done-toast!
He won't announce a runing mate. He will probably announce a HUGE endorsement!!
LOL....Obama do this have anything to do with you going along with the DNC to come together with Clinton and the DNC to help with this big bill of $20million of Hilliary.......Did she tell you she want to be VP also....that, you helping her along with the DNC to pay this bill is not enough that she also wants the VP.........Man come on ..........I'm really looking for you to ask Colin Powell...........LOL.....
Alright Edwards!!!!!!! I wanted you to go further in this race but I am happy you are supporting obama now thanks.
GREAT, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!
MAYBE HE CAN HELP PATCH UP THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY THAT HAS BEEN TORN APART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is GREAT!!!! Now make him the VP Obama and you have my vote in the fall.
WOW John Edwards! Is he not the guy that didn't lost ........ Twice what a loser. DROP OUT OBO!!!!
John Edwards is about to endorse Obama. It's 5:22 and the race is over. I'm so sorry that the Democratic leaders just don't get that Obama won't win in November. I'll vote either way, even though, in my gut, I don't think Obama is the best candidate.
It's about time!
If only Hillarious will DROP OUT and endorse OBAMA, life would be great!
OBAMA '08 – YES WE CAN!!!!
Better late than never, thanks John
yup bout time!!!!!
Thank you Senator Edwards! You are a true leader and gentleman.
The only way this party will unify is if it is a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket...otherwise we are done for...it will be 4 more years of BUSH...YUCK!!
He wants to be VP!
