(CNN) - CNN has confirmed that former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards will endorse Barack Obama shortly at a Michigan campaign event.
The endorsement could help Obama reach out to white, blue-collar voters - a demographic group that Obama has failed to capture, most notably in the recent Pennsylvania and West Virginia primaries.
Edwards received 7 percent of the vote in Tuesday's West Virginia contest.
The former North Carolina senator had campaigned on the message that he was standing up for the little guy, the people who are not traditionally given a voice in Washington, and that he would do more to fight special interests.
After dropping out of the race on January 30, Edwards asked both Clinton and Obama to make poverty a central issue of the general election and a future Democratic administration, something both agreed to do.
WAY TO GO !!!
KEep the endorsments flowing into a flood......
Good choice Edwards.....
Horse in Canada
We will take it but the ACELA left already, non stop to the white house

All I can say is WOOT@!!!!!! Its about time and I thank you John Edwards as its been a long time waiting for you to make the correct decision!
And to think I once had some menial respect for Mr. Edwards....It's gone!

One has to wonder why he waited so long.
HILLARY FOR VICE PRESIDENT!!!!
finally! about time mr. edwards!
It's about time! But it is still great!
That is the best news I've heard all day! I'll be back in a bit, I'm going to jump for joy for a while. Thank you!!!!
does this mean he gets edwards pledged delegateS?
Thank you Senator Edwards!!!! Yes!!!
The Edwards endorsement wont change my vote in November, I'm writing in Hillary Clinton. Why is Obama suddenly wearing a flag pin? He wouldn't be pandering now would he? Nah, he's above that
Hopefully he'll announce that he's dropping out for the good of the party. He'll say he needs to learn more about foreign policy; for example, that Canada does not have a president. He'll admit that he jumped the gun and he needs more experience in the Senate, and that he was pressured to announce his candidacy by Kennedy and Kerry because, well, they wanted to fill in the blanks of his blank slate candidacy. Then he'll ask the Democratic Party for forgiveness because he's divided it more than ever.
One can only hope.
Karin... I would love to see Colin Powell back in politics too!!!
How can anyone expect Senator Obama to choose Hillary for his Vice President? Bill would not and could not keep a low profile, he would have both Clinton's in the White House. He needs to choose another candidate that would be acceptable to Hillary's supporter's.
Ditto what Faye from NV has said......
Hillary Clinton are you listening......
