Edwards to endorse Obama

Edwards will endorse Obama, CNN has confirmed.

(CNN) - CNN has confirmed that former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards will endorse Barack Obama shortly at a Michigan campaign event.

The endorsement could help Obama reach out to white, blue-collar voters - a demographic group that Obama has failed to capture, most notably in the recent Pennsylvania and West Virginia primaries.

Edwards received 7 percent of the vote in Tuesday's West Virginia contest.

The former North Carolina senator had campaigned on the message that he was standing up for the little guy, the people who are not traditionally given a voice in Washington, and that he would do more to fight special interests.

After dropping out of the race on January 30, Edwards asked both Clinton and Obama to make poverty a central issue of the general election and a future Democratic administration, something both agreed to do.

Edwards endorsement is no big deal. It came too late to have any oomph!

It's already 'ding dong' for Hilary; since Obama will have a majority of the pledge delegates next contests.

No doubt Edwards was delayed by his wife, when the country was waiting on a former VP candidate to man up and take a stand for America.

Guys who can't take decisions can't be good leaders. That goes for Al Gore and John Edwards.

I AM SOOOO VERY DISAPPOINTED. IT'S SO TYPICAL THAT MEN STICK TOGETHER AND WILL NOT ALLOW A WOMAN OF INTELLIGENCE AND EXPERIENCE TO CARRY THE WHITE HOUSE. I MOST CERTAINLY WILL CONSIDER CHANGING PARTIES NOW. AS MUCH AS I DON'T LIKE MCCAIN, I WILL NOT SUPPORT A WEAK CANDIDATE LIKE OBAMA. SHAME ON YOU EDWARDS....SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!

This is no surprise. Everyone is going to get on the Obama ride now. So I think everyone knew this was going to happen. Most of his supporters anyway were heading toward Obama so big deal. He is not a superdelegate.

Obama-Edwards '08 would be the best of all possible scenarios. THAT would be REALLY exciting and give Obama the blue collar vote.

Let's hope that it is not Hil-liar-y as a VP. If it is, he must have a death wish. Too bad Obama can't ask Vince Foster if he trusts the Clintons... Oh that is right, Foster committed "suicide" and her aids ransacked his office.

NO HILLBILLIES in the White House.

Obama only has 1883 total delegates. Add Edwards 18 delegates & he still doesn't have the magic number. There are 189 outstanding pledged delegates and at least 200 supers. Hillary is only trailing by 165 - don't let the media fool you, his lead isn't insurmountable. I pray to God people come to their senses about his experience & his odds at beating McCain without even the majority of the Blue states supporting him wholeheartedly.

  25. California Voter

Obama needs whatever good news he can find after getting beaten so badly in West Virginia - and now he is courting the poor, uneducated white voters in Michigan after he made sure their votes didn't count in the primary election. As a support of that constituency I guess Obama needed some help. Obama is just a typical politician. Reminds me a lot of Kerry the elitist.

    HILLARY 08 or McCain!
