Sen. McCain laid out a bold vision of what he intends to accomplish during his first term in a new web ad.

(CNN) – On the same day that Sen. John McCain gave an ambitious speech laying out what he intends to accomplish by the end of his first term in office, his campaign released an accompanying Web ad dramatizing those hypothetical achievements.

“The year: 2013,” an announcer says as the words “2013” appear on screen. Then the ad goes through a laundry list of accomplishments McCain envisions: stabilizing the Middle East, reducing the threat of nuclear terrorism, strengthening border security, advancing energy independence, reforming wasteful spending by the federal government, delivering health care choice, and restoring economic confidence. “The year: 2013, the president: John McCain,” the announcer says as McCain’s image appears on screen.

McCain, the Republican Party’s presumptive presidential nominee, has been touring fall battleground states for the past several weeks while he lays out his policy proposals and reaches out to constituencies he will need to win the White House in November.

Sorry but I am I reading too much into this? McCain probably doesn't want to compare anatomy to Obama …

He has lost his way and his brain's all gone.
Poor Old John who can see a future, a time that cannot be.

That there will soon be senility
For dear poor old John.

While I appreciate the suggestion that we could be out by 2013, it is exceptionally naive to believe the the Middle East will be stabilized by then. There has been fighting in the Middle East for literally thousands of years and we aren't going to change that anytime soon!

Bitter Tommy Hussein in St. Louis   May 15th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

I don't think Senator McCain would be able to accomplish all these things in a short four years. For the most part, the things in the list require longer-term solutions (but in fairness, for example, it does say "advance energy independence" as opposed to "achieve"). If he is elected, I could only hope that things do work out that way, and that there's nothing to worry about concerning the big joke about bombing Iran, not knowing anything about the economy, etc.

The only way this idiot would stabilize the middle-east in 5 years would be to start bombing the hell out of all them and piss them all off to the point that they cut off all oil exports to this country and sell it all to China. Then they could set aside their difference to unite and destroy the enemy to the rest of the world… the US.

I hate to tell all of you Obama supporters but he is in no way going to have troops home by 2009 or in 2009. The only people coming home then will be the ones that are already scheduled on the books now to come back . If you seriously ask anybody in the military they can tell you in reality it just is not possible. Equipment alone will take a year or more and there will be people left back just like there are in Korea, Germany, and Bosnia. Don't forget about Afganistan . We are still there too and the troops are there for 15 months as well. So listen to the fluff about troops in Iraq…..with no mention of Afganistan. This war will be going on for a long time to come no matter who wins in November. Two are at least honest about it while one is lying through his teeth.

QUOTE:
"It is a serious error on the part of Sen. Obama that shows naiveté and inexperience and lack of judgment to say that he wants to sit down across the table from an individual who leads a country who says that Israel is a stinking corpse," McCain said.

That is why OBAMA and not McCain will be President. McCain's, like Bush's and Clinton's attitude is ANTAGONISTIC .

Jesus said and actually meant, "Love your enemy". He sat and ate with them, etc.

Gandhi said that the aim should be to win over enemies not vanquish them.

OBAMA has shown that he can and is prepared to sit down with "enemies" and try to reason with them. He is a reconciler, not a destroyer, nor a wimp.

For all the talk of the self-proclaimed fundamentalist standard bearers of Christianity , it is OBAMA with his clean spirit and clear vision who is trying to actually follow Jesus: "Peace I leave with you".

That is why the USA (and the world) very badly needs OBAMA as President of the USA.

How many posters here who claim "Hillary or McCain" are even democrats at all. List of odd occurrences this primary season:

- Hillary gained the support of Fox news and the Vast Right wing conspirators to back her campaign.
- The media has pushed Obama has a "white" problem despite winning a half a dozen states that have next to no Blacks. both Iowa and Washington State… 3% black or less. Vermont? Wyoming?
- Some Hillary supporters actually attacked Michelle Obama with the same language used to attack Hillary a decade ago… what short memories we have.

McCain
2013….10,000 U.S. soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen have already been KIA. Gas is now $19.50 a gallon. thousands upon thousands of homes have fallen to foreclosure. Stock market has crashed. millions more Americans are sick and dying because they have no health care. Of course big CEO's of oil companies, Haliburton, etc. are living it up. Sounds like a real promising future.
only 95 more years of occupation of Iraq by this point.

Democrats unite! Enough bashing each other. It is pretty certain that Obama is the winner. Clinton supporters — it wasn't some DNC conspiracy against Senator Clinton. It is simply that a lot of people liked Obama, a lot of people liked Clinton and Obama received more votes. I like the way the Democratic party works — "winner take all" primaries don't give us a candidate that is chosen by the majority of the people. "winner take all" primaries do not make it so that all our votes count. Both sides have played politics — because obviously that is how the game is played. But politics doesn't need to be mean but can be an intelligent conversation. So the race is almost over. Five more states to go. And it does look like it will be Obama. So enough of the "I'll vote McCain" if my candidate doesn't win the primary. Do you really really want more of a Bush reign? Imagine what the Democrats can do with a Democratic president and a Democratic majority in Congress. This can be an awesome period in our history. So please let's all get together and put this country back on the right track!

Rainey Day   May 15th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

It's what he hopes 2013 will look like. And to be honest and balanced I support his efforts to reform taxes, reform healthcare, but these pale in comparison to his war mongering and continuation of the Iraq War.

He's a military commander and war is everything. We're fighting terrorist over in Middle East while America rots. And don't start comparing Iraq War with WWII. The Iraq War is to be compare it to Vietnam; where America falsely accused a soveriegn country of an attack to enter into a War. The rest is history along with stream of lies.

Iraq will end on same bitter note.

How do you continue to support her so agressively. She lied to YOU and admitted it just to get your votes.

Obama's baggage is nowhere near as hazardous as Hillary's and that is why he is winning.

Michigan Voter – Fortunately, you do not speak for ALL of Michigan. There have been a lot of Michigan voters who are more than willing to vote for Obama because they know who is really to blame for what is going on with MI and FL. Look to your state leaders for that.

Repubs just don't get it… America is not a country that lives in fear of another. You are a country that is a way-maker of moral ideals of all walks of life on this Earth. Frankly all this talk of hate coming from the right side of your politics is not only scary but polorizing in the idea of you thinking of war and divisiness first, instead of more pressing needs to most Americans like the economy, health care, and education. When did the United States become so divided and blind to what love and finding the common good in one another become so lost… it's digusting? I love all my fellow brothers and sisters Americans and world citizens, even if they disagree with me.

Again, what Bush did today is playing along the talking points of the Repubs, they wanted this as something to try and bring the republicans together and find a common thread of hat against Obama nad the Democratic party. Be the shinging light in a world of much madness and vote with those that inspire you to not live in fear of what could be, like what Bush said so many years ago and still repeats.

God bless you from an interested European hoping that American do what is right.

Joshua College Station TX   May 15th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

The war is a cover for the NeoCon idealists and their corporation buddies to maintain a steady income at the expense of American taxpayers and consumers, the Iraqi people, and everyone else in the world. Iraq is a giant cash cow for them. But now with the unpopularity of Bush, and the rise of the new Democrats, those corporations are seeing the writing on the wall. They see that the war could be coming to an end if Obama is elected. So they have to be very very clever. Predicting a utopian sort of resolution to the war is their ploy to try and appease us.

With his credibility so badly damaged by his last 4 years of wild flip-flopping from "maverick" to "Bush clone", and his shocking recent joining with Bush in opposing the New Gi Bill ("support our troops"?) that would benefit those returning home from Iran and Afghanistan, these pie-in-the-sky promises are as ethereal as is his grasp of the realities on the ground in Iraq. He is an increasingly tragic figure who four years ago said himself he was too old THEN to be President.

Bush, Cheney, McCain, Romney, and the rest of the idiot republicans should find a hole to crawl into. They have made a shambles of this country. I don't understand why any working stiff would vote for them. McCain is going to push an agenda to make the rich richer, and the powerful more arrogant.

Not worth a comment.

CNN,

My comment here is for Cambell Brown. YOu are a sick woman! Please don't judge YOUR view with saying that "sweetie" comment nobody likes. Speak for your self you limited minded old woman. Many of us WISH that Barack call us sweetie.

I trust McCain to keep America secure from domestic and foreign threats.

KD   May 15th, 2008 9:34 pm ET

It would be nice to know how he plans on accomplishing these things… Anyone can say what they want, but lets hear how he plans to do it.

Mr. Warmonger!

There is no way we are going to stand by while our troops are in Iraq for 5-more freaking years! That would be 10-years! We don't have the money for 5-more years!

You say Obama is not fit to be president – neither are you!

Just because you were a POW of another war the USA should not have been in – does not make you fit to lead us!

There is nothing tough about a POW for 5-years! In my view – you are a punk!

Go Obama! Bring our troops home starting 2009 – it's time that Iraq
stand up and run their country!

Ron   May 15th, 2008 9:32 pm ET

• There you go Sen. McCain dreaming out loud. The sun must be beating down on your head making you delusional. You also have forgotten this America and not Great Britain. We have our own political system. I would have thought 30 years in the same office you might figure how it works.

Go Obama / Edwards 08

mr.st.louis   May 15th, 2008 9:31 pm ET

hes stealing the democrats ideas

fred   May 15th, 2008 9:31 pm ET
