Watch part of Barack Obama's remarks Friday.

(CNN) – Barack Obama struck back hard at President Bush and John McCain Friday, accusing them of hypocrisy and of distorting his position on dialogue with nations hostile to the United States, telling a South Dakota crowd that “I’m running for president to change course, not to continue George Bush’s course.”

“I want to be perfectly clear with George Bush and John McCain, and with the people of South Dakota,” he said at a Watertown campaign stop. “If George Bush and John McCain want to have a debate about protecting the United States of America, that is a debate that I'm happy to have any time, any place and that is debate I will win because George Bush and John McCain have a lot to answer for.”

In his comments before the Israeli Knesset Thursday, Bush seemed to equate the Illinois senator’s foreign policy views with those of Nazi appeasers in the years before World War II, though he did not mention any names. Obama strongly criticized the president for the remarks Friday, calling them “the kind of appalling attack that's divided our country and that alienates us from the world.”

On Friday, Obama also fired back at McCain for saying Thursday that the Democratic senator was not qualified to protect the nation. “[John McCain] talked about elevating the tone of debate in our country. He talked about reaching out in a bipartisan fashion to the other side. Then not an hour later he turned around and embraced George Bush's attack on Democrats,” said Obama, who called the Arizona senator’s Iran policy “naïve and irresponsible.”

“He jumped on a call with a bunch of bloggers and said that I wasn't fit to protect this nation that I love because I wanted to sit down and negotiate with tough diplomacy with countries like Iran. Accused me of not being fit…[or] being able to protect this nation,” he added.

He said both Bush and McCain “have a lot to answer for” over the war in Iraq and the failure to find Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda’s continuing strength, among other continuing foreign policy problems. “They are going to have to explain why it is that Iran is able to fund Hezbollah and poses the greatest threat to America and Israel and the Middle East in a generation. That's the Bush-McCain record on protecting this country.

The McCain campaign said Obama’s speech was a “partisan rant.”

“It was remarkable to see Barack Obama’s hysterical diatribe in response to a speech in which his name wasn’t even mentioned,” said McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds. “It would be a wonderful thing if we lived in a world where we don’t have enemies. But that is not the world we live in, and until Senator Obama understands that, the American people have every reason to doubt whether he has the strength, judgment and determination to keep us safe.”

BRING ON a Dem v Repub debate!!!!! I can just see Bush stammering, trying to come up with an answer, then finally spitting out a joke (like he always does when he can't find the answer), and John McCain getting redder & redder, right before he blows his top! That would be some funny stuff, right thar!

obama saying he'd debate mccain on foriegn policy is laughable. clearly obama's not experienced enough to realize you can't have a sit down with iran. you think the democrats would have learned this after nancy pelosi had a visit with syria, while they were making a nuclear facility. democrats like to say it's the politics of fear, no it's the politics of reality. people want to hurt americans, quit pretending there not out there obama and pelosi.

Hah! That's it…the Dems are running against "Bush-McCain" and the Dems will win easily.

Remember how Bill Clinton brilliantly ran against "Dole-Gingrich" in 1996? People hated Gingrich and they hate Bush even more.

I watched the interview of McCain in 2006. Man oh man did he ever flip-flop. It seems that which ever is the best terms at the time for him to get elected he'll take. But he was interviewed and caught on tape, so please McSame try to wiggle out of this one.

Jim   May 16th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

You may not like Mr Bush, but he is very smart. Obama had to wait two day for his speech writers to tell him what to say because he does not have a clue, and there fore obama lost two days in which he could have been talking about the economy. This is letting Hillary's case get stronger, and stronger.
So many people have been scrambling to spin Obama's naive debate gaffe early on when he said he'd talk directly to enemies. But the fact still remains, Obama had no idea what he was talking about, and he said nothing about preconditions or what he now refers to as "preparation" for such talks.
Our country will be left wounded by the Bush administration only to be led now by an unqualified amateur. But at least, it will be a democrat unqualified amateur;I guess that's something. Just pray that he doesn't refer to some world leader's wife as "sweetie."And remember The flip flopper is Barack Obama. Mr Appeasment Obama was backing the Palestinians just 18 months ago, until one of his aides reminded him of the strong Jewish vote in Florida

Politically Incorrect   May 16th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

it's ridiculous, stupid and naive for McCain (the Rhinestone hero) to even align himself with any such policies of George Bush. He is the worst President in US history. Even Republicans know how bad a President he is, he should be distancing himself from Bush instead of backing him… it's almost shameful.

Barack is right to want to atleast sit down and try to be diplomatic related to our enemies, especially since bombing ppl seems to be working so well… Americans want peace.. not WAR!!!..

Besides, McCain is a liar.. he was never even tortured over there in Vietnam.. He's a traitor and a hypocrite.. And the American Ppl would be wise not to elect a traitor to office.. look up Rhinestone Hero John McCain.. know the truth about this awful man!!!

Kevin   May 16th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

The Democrats are such hypocrites. They claim the Republicans use scare tactics but that is exactly what this is. Obama is trying to scare uninformed voters into thinking that McCain has all of the same views as Bush. If you actually examine their positions on issues, THEY DON'T

Jeff   May 16th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

Who is a more qualified leader:

a) The guy who sings "Bomb Iran", at a time when the nation is spiraling rapidly into bankruptcy while fighting an ongoing war stretching our military and our budget incredibly thin; A war with people who want to destroy us because we aim to destroy them.

OR

b) A guy who believes we may well be able to solve these problems through diplomacy, at a much lower cost in lives and dollars, quite possibly resulting in a more peaceful, cooperative middle-east.

Since our current president as well as the Republican nominee are both 100% lacking in diplomatic and leadership skills, and we've seen the results of being led by a guy from the Northeast who likes to pretend he's a Texas Cowboy, I think the answer is abundantly clear.

theresa in Prattville, AL   May 16th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Yes Bush-McCain have to get right with God instead of engaging in Politics. They have murdered over 4000 people and then some since this war started. I can't believe McCain would agree with anything Bush has to say giving the fact that Bush is not like by anyone in this country. He is selfish. He is dumb. He can't hardly even read a speech. He is a drunk and everybody knows that. When he got that 3AM call, I just bet he was hung over and vomiting at the time. He probably told the caller to blow up whatever…..right now. Dumb idiots. McCain will have to pay for joining up with Bush. McCain flat out lied about not being a typical republican and that he is a different kind of politician. He's a freakin OLD joke.

Democrats are not Nazi appeasers. We ARE fighting Nazis! They are called right wing republicans who want to destroy civil liberties, push for corporate dominance over everything, and create vicious lies to instigate war. Bush should also remember that his family aided the Nazis!

To use a Knesset meeting on the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel to criticize a US persidential candidate is wrong in so mant ways and is a new low for the Clown Prince. This is an administation that , once out of office, can and should be tried at the Hague for war crimes.

proud army and navy mom   May 16th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Thank you, Senator.
Bush lies and distorts the truth so much, i highly doubt he could recognize the truth if it bites him.

mccain is a milly-mouth old liar, that changes his position everytime the wind blows. i know he served this country well. he needs to gracefully retire and let the capable people take over and get us out of the holy mess that Bush generated and Mccain endorsed.

Gas was $1.72 a gallon when Bush took office. Cheney said if we invaded Iraq gas prices will go down. I never bought into that lie, but a lot of people did. How's it working out for the idiots who put him in office?

Hit them hard Barack, they are the latest gatekeepers of a fifty year old boneheaded foreign policy that has resulted in an unnecessary loss of American lives from Vietnam to Iraq and points in between. This "me against the world" idealogical supremacy is outdated and dangerous and will only increase the ranks of our enemies.

Nobody's name was mentioned in President Bush's speech. However, if you can't read implication, you can't read subtlety, and therefore, you have no business commenting on politics. Politics is one part blunt populism, one part subtlety, and one part prostitution.

All too predictable and is what we have come to expect from the corrupt Bush/Cheney propaganda machine.

Bush's speech writer(s) need to take some history lessons. You don't compare a rag-tag 3rd world nation that can barely get spare parts, poses no threat to even its own neighbor after 8 years of a disasterous war (Iran/Iraq war) to the most powerful war machine of the early WW2 years.

It was a horrible analogy and maybe the first time a U.S. President went on foreign soil to complain about our own government.

Wonder why Bush made those comments he made yesterday? Check your gas price today for the answer.
McBush made those comments knowing it is going to stoke tension in the Middle East and as such drive the price of crude oil higher. Thus, Halliburton and his oil buddies would be able to make more profit from the high price of oil. The is the same why he sent us to war in Iraq…..
Tension in ME = Higher Crude oil Price = Record Profit for Oil Companies = Higher gas price for us her at home.
Bush is a complete disgrace.

Shawna   May 16th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

McCain is such a flip flopper that I don't know where he stands on issues. He changes his stance depending on how politically successfull the position will be for his campaign. On one hand they say they are working with these rogue nations to get them under control and then on the other hand they say democrats are like Nazis sympathizer. This is not what a President does when they step onto center stage and speaks to the world. The entire World is listening, there are thousands of children dead in China's quake, 100,000 dead in burma and the country won't accept aide, even emergencies going on here at home, but instead of speaking to the disasters Bush wastes this moment speaking like the idoit he is, who ever wrote this speech is incompetent and another example of how the administration is full of incompetence. Bush's own leadership is right now working on communication with these terrorist nations, and the terrorists in Iraq to maintain a low level of truce. Bush and McCain really have no common sense and that is why his approval ratings are so low

Doug   May 16th, 2008 1:20 pm ET

Thank you! Bush has spent the last 8 years damaging our once great nation in every possible way (world standing, economy, national security, etc…), and now McCain wants to spend the next 4 following the same pattern.

I love America, I thank God to be an American, but I am NOT proud of what Bush and the republican government have turned this country into. It is time for change, and whether that change comes from an Obama administration, or a Clinton administration, I will be able to again hold my head up high and be proud to be an American.

John McCain is embracing the very position that got the nation in the helluva mess it's in, and in so doing has tied himself foolishly to the failed policies of George Bush. I would remind Mr. McCain that Ronald Reagan talked to Gorbachev, Nixon to Brezhnev and in fact all presidents before Bush recognized the need to speak to the respective boogiemen of their age. Bush equates mere diplomacy with appeasement, but they are two different things. Neville Chamberlain's error was not talking to Hitler, (diplomacy) it was giving away Czechoslovakia (appeasement.) Fine nuances like that are beyond Bush's, and apparently McCain's, grasp. But I can see Obama gets it.

Lets look at it objectively. Bush did talk to Libya before Gaddafi pulled out of nuclear reactors in Libya. Bush did talk with North Korea as well. We need to talk to everyone and understand why they are angry with us.
We cannot live in vacuum at all.
Who ever becomes the President of USa will have to talk to the rouge nations of the world to understand where they are coming from so that we can make adjustments to bring them back into the fold.

McCain isn't as stupid as he looks, and I don't think Obama will

Obama is causing all this to free PR, and is putting words into

Obama has bashed McCain every single day, does he think he is the

Obama is one of the cockiest men I have ever seen.

We are all in big trouble if he is our next President.

War has not worked, period. For everyone who claims to be a real American, read the history books and tell me at what point in history the tribulations with the Middle East began in the world. From the early 1100's to modern day there has never be a lasting peace in that region despite countless wars.

It is time that someone tried something new, that instead of resorting to violence to resolve the differences between two opposing cultures, we reason and talk amongst one another. Anyone who wishes to continue the failed foreign policies, McCain, is not fit to be a president as they obviously have not learned from mistakes.

You can not discuss nuclear disarmament if you can not pick up the phone and ask someone how there wife and kids are. Diplomacy is a long road, Not a quick lap around the track, It takes time to build relationships especillay if you havent had a conversation in about 30 years. Does it hurt to sit at a table and listen to someone other than yourself? Does it hurt to sit at a table and dicuss options?

The second strongest force in the world should be the US Military. The first should be the US State Department.
Perhaps then the USA will regain the moral authority that led us to prevail in Europe, Over Communism, and Yes in Irag in the early 90's.

It is really sad to see the state of the REP Party. They use to be so bold. They had fire in there belie. Now look at them. 28% approval, loosing 70 seats this Nov. McCain spinning around in circles trying to come up with a plan after 3 months of running against himself, crying to Rush, “what we going to do now”? Roves going to jail soon, you guys are a mess. And you have the nerve to think Bush did not know the impact of his statements in Israel? Funny thing is the more you try to make Obama look bad, the dumber and dumber you look. Notice all of the tactics you try only turn your seats over? Its because you are trying to take someone down instead of build yourself up.

It amazes me that Obama believes he can and has slammed President Bush for the Presidents policies and beliefs. When President Bush disagrees with a group of people that believe it is possible to negotiate with extremist and cites historical examples of way this would not work Obama publically states the President is not playing fair. What is good for one is good for all.

In addition CNN has become so biased that this morning one newscaster reffered to the President of the United States as Mr. Bush. Am I the only one that sees both of the above mentioned practices as abuse of our system of government and unetical business practies.

It takes a real man to address his enemy face to face and command respect and attention. George Bush is a cowardly boy pretending to be president in his make believe game of "I declare war" and McCain is simply an angry crony attempting to avenge his unfortunate past on any country accessible. I respect President Obama's courage and judgment to do what is best for me, and my country, unlike Lil’ Bush.

I like the sound of that, President Obama.

SJM   May 16th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

There's an old Shakespeare saying that has been said by a few people on CNN the past 2 days and that is "thou shall not protest too much", which is exactly what Obama and the Dems have been doing the past 2 days. This just gives credence to what Bush said about negotiating with Hamas. Bottom line is Obama did say he would have talks with Hamas and other hateful nations/groups without preconditions. He can deflect all the negativity he wants to Bush and McCain, but he still needs to answer to what he has said about having talks with these types of groups. He and Dems know this is a sore spot for him.

TAN in London   May 16th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

For 3 1/2 years, Bush's own secretary of state has been trying to get him to understand that we have to talk with Iran because Bush's policies have made Iran the biggest winner of all in the Iraq war. For the past year, his own secretary of defense, Gates, has been urging discussions with the enemy, since the enemy is made stronger by the day by the Bush policies in Iraq. But it is the Democrats that Bush rails against, not his own experts.

Indiana Voter   May 16th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

So… it's okay for a democrat President to go overseas and attack the sitting President several times, but not okay for the current Republican President to go overseas and make a general statement about many people past and present? What a double standard the democrats have. They don't even see it because of their blind hatred for Bush. How sad.

Grow some balls Obama. Even Hillary called your idea of 'talking' to Iran as Naive in the debates.

Alan in Nashville   May 16th, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Since when did being diplomatic mean being weak on security? We must stop confusing these two. It's the same as equating Iraq to 9/11. The two are not related!

Being diplomatic might have actually INCREASED our security instead of heightened the chances for another attack.

But then again, the GOP does not seem to be the best at speaking to another group with a differing point of view.

But as for Obama and the rest of us:

YES, WE CAN!

Mike Dallas   May 16th, 2008 1:26 pm ET

You complain that it took Obama days to come up with a comment? Do you actually believe in single functioning brain cell of yours, that Bush gave that speech off the cuff???? Bush is not capable of speaking coherently, much less come up with an original thought! Please, he has been prompted for days, if not weeks, on that little gem. It was very calculated and scripted. Thankfully, the speech writer proofed it and omitted the word "nuclear".

The only way to fight these low life Republicans is to use their words against them. and it must be done quickly, frequently and aggressively. McCain is a 'war hero' but that was 40 years ago. In the here and now he is a cheap politician who conveniently changes positions without knowing or admitting it. Besides, he displayed on several occasions serious lapses which call his alertness into questions. Yes, his age should be an election issue even if his wife protests to the contrary.

Does anyone realize that USA's foreign policy instigated 9/11, that before this date, newspapers around the world were calling us, the globe's bully. USA is hated around the world and viewed as murderers for power and blood-lust. Exactly, what is wrong with meeting at the round table and talking peace?

Perhaps if Americans were to evaluate their thinking on bullying and wars and why we glorify warring, then maybe we could experience a few years without blood shed and the sacrificed lives of fresh, new generations of America's kids. Aren'l all of our religious icons practioners of peace and love? It is time to change the paradigm of kill first and talk later. Personally, I abhor bullies.

jr   May 16th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

As an older white independent voter I find President Bush’s speech in the Knesset yesterday regarding appeasement to be in fact, right on the money. This is an issue, which in the end will cut Obama’s legs from out underneath him. We are in this situation because Jimmy Carter appeased the Ayatollahs allowing Iran to fall under their control. Every one of us whether we are republicans, democrats, or independents wants to give peace a chance However, it is important to recognize that we are not engaged in a struggle against the peoples of the Middle East we are engaged in a struggle against Radical Islamic Fundamentality ruled countries or governments. The extremists, utilizing their narrow view of Islam would rather wipe us and our way of life out then conduct fruitful straight talk with us to create a lasting universal peace in the region. If what Bush said yesterday offended some democrats then maybe, just maybe, he got it right and has outted them and their plans for our future (if it walks like a duck, etc, etc). If allowed to become the regional powers in the Middle East countries such as Iran or Syria and their henchmen Hamas, Hezbollah, anf the Taliban in Afganistan will have won a major battle in their Jihad against democracy and America. Moderate Arab nations would cease to exist as we know them today. The state of Israel and all of Europe will also be gravely threatened.

As I read numerous blogs it’s become apparent that most posters have no knowledge of history, have an extremely distorted view of it, or believe some revisionist clap trap version. It’s one thing to talk to these rogue countries through diplomatic channels as we now do. It’s another completely different thing to extrapolate that we can alter their extremist’s views if we just sit down and try to talk some sense into them face to face. We cannot make the same naïve mistake with these people that Jimmy Carter made during his presidency. If we ignore history then we are doomed to repeat it.

When countries such as Iran and Syria, and organization such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Taliban show us through their actions and deeds that they truly seek a lasting universal peace in the region, then and only then, should we consider sitting down with them face to face to discuss how to make that happen. To do otherwise, would be the gravest of errors.

Don’t get caught up in the campaign hype there’s a much bigger picture to consider.

Jake Jamahl, Atlanta   May 16th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Bush's vacuous word's not only violated the time honored tradition of not bringing partisan politics beyond America's shores but once again proved Bush's ignorance about history with his pathetic rhetoric.

The "the false comfort of appeasement" to Hitler was Chamberlin's signing of the Munich Agreement in 1938, conceding part of Czechoslovakia to Hitler NOT sitting down negotiating with another nation. Given Bush's erroneous comparison, Bush himself has appeased Russia, Libya and Iraq. This is a continuing display of the Bush administration using ignorant comparisons and bad history that dampens America's prestige throughout the world and Bush's own approval rating at home. Frankly, America and the world are tired of this one-trick pony.

What is even more ironic is Bush's grandfather was a director of a bank seized by the federal government because of its ties to a German industrialist who helped bankroll Adolf Hitler's rise to power according to government documents. Prescott Bush was not only a war profiteer but in 1933 went so far as to subsidize a coup attempt in order to achieve his dream of a fascist America.

Face it Georgie, America is tired of your politics, your mistakes and your presidency. When the alleged leader of the free world breaks a time honored political tradition, used bad history then ignores his own family skeletons it's time for you to ride into the sunset and order extra crayons for that presidential library.

On second though, keep talking. Every time you open your mouth, it's more votes for change, more votes for Obama…

Mccain's foreign policy stance is similar to Bush's in that it is based on arrogance and aggression. We cannot continue to believe and act as if our will supercedes the needs and concerns of all other nations. This breeds resentment, and thus we have the foreign policy crises and image problem we have now. Obama understands this, and he also understands there was a time when America was respected and regarded as a world leader because we led by example and possessed a global sense of community. George Bush has changed all that and McCain has been along for the ride and this is something he must not be allowed to shirk away from. Foreign policy is about more than sending troops. It is about diplomacy and mutual respect.

TSD from Houston, TX   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Jim, how is Bush smart? The man mangles words on a daily basis. Every year, there is a Bushisms calendar full of new and foolish things that have come out of his mouth. To Neutral, remember, that not all women in the democratic party are white. For a dem to win the white house, they have to win all minority groups and independents. Also, are you saying that the amount of HRC supporters aren't attacking Obama because he's black?

Obama transcends race, gender, age, orientation. Obama is right. Talking it out is better than going and bombing people. If Iran wants to at least talk, then it's worth a try. Al Qaeda didn't want to talk, so they deserved like retaliation.

Dems, unite. As a woman, I don't want Roe v. Wade to be overturned. It's our right to choose, and some old man isn't going to make that decision for me. So, for all the people out there that don't want Obama, realize what you will really get if McCain is elected. It's not roses. Vote for the better of you, your children, friends.

Bush and McCain continue espousing the same failed policies , year after year. Surely enough people now realize the Bush admin policies are wrong and will reject Bush's surrogate in November.

Indiana Politics   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

George Bush just sealed McCain's fate with that deplorable comment. Interesting to note here is the willingness of the Bush Administration to negotiate with a terrorist and tyrant like Kim Jong il and North for years, yet they somehow have a problem dealing with Iran. In the meantime, Iran has gotten stronger while Iraq has turned into a full-scale quagmire.

Seems to me Bush and McCain really don't have a leg to stand on. Obama's lack of 'experience' may be just what the doctor ordered to restore our reputation in the world - not to mention our floundering economy.

However Obama needs to come up with concrete policies. All i hear from Obama is Im going to Change this, Im gonna Change that, Im gonna Change my Pants after tonight. However, No substance in Most things he says. Just retoric.
Obama also says he is willing for a debate anytime anywhere - but he ran away fromt he debtate when HIllary challenged him for any debate in Indiana and NC.
Finding fault with others is not enough. You have to come up with realistic solutions also - in that area both Bush and Obama are not very different.

You've got to get out of your Oval Office chair and engage these people or they will aengage with each other and unite against us. When the sun sets on the Bush era, we'll finally have a chance to have meaningful dialogue again with other world players, whether we like them or not!

CCrand   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

To Neutral: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

mnzr   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate. Why does the GOP steadfastly refuse to talk? Maybe because they are so totaly incompetent in diplomacy that they are afraid that they'll only make matters worse. (if that's at all possible)

Enlightened Voter May 16th, 2008 9:23 am ET

Obama, you shouldn't even have to dignify those outrageous idiotic remarks from a madman like bush but I understand that as president this will be part of your job. I fully support your diplomatic tactics in trying to talk to our enemies. We need peace in this world and visionaries like you will make it happen. Dialogue has to start somewhere.

I SECOND THAT!!!

Fla Sam   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

You tell them Obama!

We should never be afraid to first talk to our enemies!

Obama 08!

Johnny G   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

This is directed to Jim. How do you expect anybody to take your words seriously when in your first sentence you state that Bush is smart? Are you serious? Give me a break.

To the rest of you Republicans… I sincerely thank you for revving up your hate machine because your actions will result in bringing the Democratic Party back together.

Joe Mallon   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Well…this time something was clear… having watched him read and read and falter as he read we can be convinced he reads what others (who?) put in from of him when there is any substance in his verbage…he only looks up when he is using his usual generalities and standard campaign rhetoric

Darshan   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

" May 16th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

obama saying he'd debate mccain on foriegn policy is laughable. clearly obama's not experienced enough to realize you can't have a sit down with iran. you think the democrats would have learned this after nancy pelosi had a visit with syria, while they were making a nuclear facility. democrats like to say it's the politics of fear, no it's the politics of reality. people want to hurt americans, quit pretending there not out there obama and pelosi."

Uhh "lol" have you thought about WHY "they" want to hurt Americans? Let me guess, you think its because we're the "beacon of Freedom" and they "hate our way of life."

I "lol" at that and you. Go read some history books.

RS   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Obama Rulz!! I am sick and tired of people playing politics etc. - i want a clear thing and Obama's message since beg. has been clear about what his group wants to do. Bush/McCain are just stupid to even play politics - they are not reading people's mind - same goes with Hillary!

SPOT   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

I REMEMBER THE OTHER GREAT PRESIDENT OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY-JIMMY CARTER. HE TALKED FOR MONTHS WITH IRAN TO RELEASE OUR CITIZENS HELD HOSTAGE. THEN, ON THE DAY REAGAN WAS SWORN IN, THEY WERE RELEASED.
I WONDER WHY ? COULD IT BE THAT THEY KNEW HE WOULD BLOW UP THE COUNTRY IF THEY DIDN'T ? JUST REMEMBER-IF OSAMA OR THE LEADERS OF HAMAS OR IRAN COULD CAST A VOTE IN OUR ELECTION WHO DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD VOTE FOR ?? EXACTLY!! WE WILL NEVER LEARN.

Darth Vadik, CA   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Are we getting it yet?

130 REPUBLICANS voted PRESENT on the hose bill to further fund the occupation in Iraq. Do you know what this means, of course they were cowardly, but until few days ago these guys were breathing fire out of their mouths, and yesterday they voted present.

Has the tide turned over yet?

Do you think things will be better in Iraq, after 5 years? 5 YEARS?

And some people think McCain can win?

Get the HELL OUT OF HERE, McCain is as lame as a 30 year old horse, Obama will destroy him.

CJ   May 16th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

SO… when is the first debate for Obama-McCain?? This one will be a doozy!! I'll bet McCain walks off the stage within 30 minutes.

Take those gloves off Barack!

Willie   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

I think Bush and McCain have forgotten that Biblical saying," You reap what you sow." If we just trust, they are going to get their just reward.

Glen,   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Oh poor Obama. I wonder when he watches sports and the teams get into a huddle, does he think they're talking about him. Talk about cheap politics, from a cheap politician, desperate for a little bit of air time.

James   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

So wait a minute. Since the policies of McCain caused the issues with Iran, doesn't that mean the policies of Obama caused the same? haven't they both been in congress for the past few years. Wouldn't they both have to take credit for the current situation? Oh I get get it. LadaladalaBAMA only takes credit for good things in congress and not bad. That part of congress was McCain's fault. Typical forked tongue politician. Hey Obama, why don't you go invade Pakistan like you mentioned a few months ago?

Whitney   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

i hope Obama obliterates them!

McThuselah The Crypt Keeper   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Mr so-called "Neutral"

Great Grandpa McThuselah is not going to win this election. This election is about the future…our future, not his ancient past.

Move over Great Grandpa and let the new generation of this great country fix all of your failed and bigoted politics of the past.

Ron   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Well Jim I have to say that I have never heard your point of view; Bush is smart you say? Very interesting point of view you have. Have you ever heard of Iraq?

Dan   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Bush has no right to lecture anyone on foreign policy. In agreeing with Bush, McCain just forfeited legitimacy. McCain's continuous confusion about middle eastern groups and his G.W. style anti-diplomacy will not get us off this terrible path we're on. Only a Democrat can start to fix these republican foreign policy disasters.

Trekkie   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Yes. The policy of ignoring enemies doesn't work, and just serves to further aggravate tensions.

Obama's words are very strong and powerful.

geoff   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Refreshing, at last, to see someone who thinks rather than reaches for a gun and a contract with a political fat cat. Obama will make a fine president.

sly   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

To Jim, you call Bush smart? Man, stop smokin that stuff and come down to reality. Dubya, is the worst and most feeble minded president we've ever had. Look around you einstein, is the world safer? is the economy booming? Are we better off now that eight years ago? Come down and face reality.

jim bone   May 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

IF any one thinks either of these morons will help us or our country fooooooooslih people. They all turn GREEN when in the white house

SRI   May 16th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

OBAMA, like they say is naive and inexperienced. He does not have a clue about World-wide radical islamic threat. America is not ready for Obama, no not in these dangerous times. and Obama is not ready for America. Let us not put our country through insecure times when we are already reeling under various problems - domestic and international.
America cannot afford to step back in the war on terror. There is no one good answer to handling terrorism. But Obama is not the answer. He is weak. He will set us back.
Thank You,
A concerned Indian American.
