Ferraro suggests she may not vote for Obama

Ferraro is a supporter of Clinton's presidential campaign.

(CNN) - Geraldine Ferraro, the outspoken former Democratic vice presidential candidate and a supporter of Hillary Clinton's White House bid, told the New York Times she may not vote for Barack Obama should he be the party's nominee.

Ferraro, a former member of Clinton's finance committee who resigned that post earlier this year after making comments many viewed as racially offensive, also said she thinks the Illinois senator has been "terribly sexist" over the course of the presidential campaign.

The comments appear to underscore the potential difficulty Obama may have courting some women voters in the fall - many of whom have said they feel a solidarity with the New York senator over the barriers Clinton faces in her bid to become the first female president.

Ferraro has not shied away from discussing the impact of race and gender throughout the Democratic presidential campaign. In March, the former congresswoman told a California newspaper the chief reason Obama's candidacy was successful was because he was black.

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she told The Daily Breeze. "And if he was a woman, he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Ferraro also said Clinton had been the victim of a "sexist media."

Obama later called those comments "ridiculous," and Clinton said she disagreed with them.

Ferraro maintained her comments were not racist, but ultimately resigned from the Clinton campaign after they caused an uproar.

"The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you. I won't let that happen," she wrote in her resignation letter to Clinton, adding, "I am who I am and I will continue to speak up."

Roland Martin said if Obama didn't get the nomination that african americans were going to be out in record numbers to "make it rain Mccain" as a protest vote and demonstrate at the convention in Denver. Why does he now say if the working white voters, woman and senior do the same thing, that were stupid for voting against our economic interests.
Why is it OK for african americans to cast a protest vote and demonstrate at the convention, but no one else? Sounds like a double standard to me.

HRC went up against $30 MILLION in PA and still walked out there a winner, so my guess is obama wouldnt even be on the radar if media treated them both the same.

she's tough stuff with an intellect to boot. she's fully engaged and on top of every issue... she can give it to you and a roadmap on how to get there....... most men wont admit it but this is one sharp woman. stll blows my mind who would look at both of them and choose him? i'm a guy but honestly obama couldnt hold a candle to HRC.

How is Barry an elitist and Hillary is not??? When was the last time she pumped gas or actually cooked her own food or went to the grocery store and bought her own groceries??? Obama just paid off his student loans. Geraldine is aiming to move to the Repubs and is looking for a job on McCains team; she's getting off a sinking ship.

Smart broad. Oops, I meant woman

Then it is our troops that will thank you for keeping them dodging bullets for another four years under the flip flopping mccain all because of your selfish thinking

Remarkable double-standard. I guess it's sexist for a women to refer to me as "honey", "doll" and "sweetheart"? Let's focus on the real issues. Enough with the old guard. Furthermore, one has to question the real impetus behind Ms. Ferraro's vitriol, as she does come from another generation.

ANYONE WHO IS VOTING FOR MCCAIN IF OBAMA BECOMES THE NOMINEE NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY QUESTION WHAT THEY WANT IN A PRESIDENT. OBAMA AND CLINTON ARE NEARLY IDENTICAL IN THEIR ISSUES. IF YOU COMPARE EITHER OF THEM WITH JOHN MCCAIN YOU WILL SEE HOW DIFFERENT THEY ARE. SO TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN IF HILLARY DOESN'T BECOME THE NOMINEE IS JUST PLAIN RACISM.

    WAKE UP PEOPLE.

Shame to all those democrats who say they will not vote for Obama. You will cause McCain to be elected (even if you don't vote for him)and prolong the war in Iraq and the terrible state of the economy. Shame on you all........

    Rus in St. Paul,
You hit the nail on the head. Women voting for McCain, who recently said he would put judges in the Supreme Court similar to who Bush has, is ridiculous.

Hillary should have run a better campaign. Obama is the best administrator. He had a successful campaign plan and is financially sound. While Hillary had no plan after Super Tuesday and is in debt. Obama is the best candidate.

Her true racist colors are showing. So are all the other Hillary supporters saying they will vote for McCain. The only advice I can give those of you saying you will never vote for Obama is, if given the opportunity to go hear him speak in person, please do so. I have heard him speak in person and was somewhat skeptical before doing so. After hearing him speak and hearing his well planned message for America, I do not care what color his skin is, I would vote for him no matter what. He is the best candidate for America and the American people, period!

Ferraro is irrelevant. What she says isn't news by any stretch of the imagination. CNN is pathetic for giving this any attention.
