Ferraro suggests she may not vote for Obama

Ferraro is a supporter of Clinton's presidential campaign.

(CNN) - Geraldine Ferraro, the outspoken former Democratic vice presidential candidate and a supporter of Hillary Clinton's White House bid, told the New York Times she may not vote for Barack Obama should he be the party's nominee.

Ferraro, a former member of Clinton's finance committee who resigned that post earlier this year after making comments many viewed as racially offensive, also said she thinks the Illinois senator has been "terribly sexist" over the course of the presidential campaign.

The comments appear to underscore the potential difficulty Obama may have courting some women voters in the fall - many of whom have said they feel a solidarity with the New York senator over the barriers Clinton faces in her bid to become the first female president.

Ferraro has not shied away from discussing the impact of race and gender throughout the Democratic presidential campaign. In March, the former congresswoman told a California newspaper the chief reason Obama's candidacy was successful was because he was black.

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she told The Daily Breeze. "And if he was a woman, he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Ferraro also said Clinton had been the victim of a "sexist media."

Obama later called those comments "ridiculous," and Clinton said she disagreed with them.

Ferraro maintained her comments were not racist, but ultimately resigned from the Clinton campaign after they caused an uproar.

"The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you. I won't let that happen," she wrote in her resignation letter to Clinton, adding, "I am who I am and I will continue to speak up."

Can someone please put this woman back in her box?

Another rant from an "also-ran" and wanna-be who din't quite make the grade.

Fortunately, no need to air her laundry as well – shall we discuss her family and husband, the mafia links and other ties which surely would have enlivened that White House.

How disappointing that some Democrats just can't get the unity message. Tottering old McCain, O'Reilly, Hannity and loud-mouth Limbaugh are loving the sniping.

Don't give Ferraro the coverage – not deserved.

Where is the evidence for these baseless claims of Obama's sexism? Previously Senator Clinton released an attack against Senator Obama and the campaign concluded the press release with the phrase "Details matter". Where are the details here? In addition, if you're so worried about sexism, voting for McCain is a huge mistake. He'll continue to stack the courts with conservative judges and the other cabinet departments with officials that share his views. The attack on female reproductive rights will only continue. Apparently those of you who feel McCain is a better choice over Obama don't have to worry about the price of contraceptives, the quality of sex education provided in our schools and unhindered access to reproductive health care. As a young women concerned about the issues as opposed to race or gender I understand that these rights need to be protected. I would hope that those of you that are considering McCain over Obama would understand that these rights constitute a fundamental component of the democratic agenda.

you people are stupid. You won't vote for this man based on race? This country is headed for total meltdown. I pray to GOD that he sends his son back soon. The world as we know it is getting worse and worse.

Why note vote based on issue, stop looking at color as the end-all be-all. Because he's black, or because she's a woman doesn't put them in a position not to be able to make decisions, and once people (of all colors) realize this, I fear it might be too late.

    Heaven help us all!

  4. Oh Boy...

Anyone who's offended by Obama's use of the word "sweetie" and would vote for McCain because of it, despite the fact that McCain is prepared to nominate judges who would gladly render a verdict that would overturn Roe v. Wade, is an idiot.

If you are a Democrat, or if you consider yourself to be progressive in any sense, voting for McCain just because you're pissed at Obama makes you a racist, plain and simple. Can you name me one other reason you'd support Hillary but not Obama?

Ferraro proves why Hillary and a lot of women should not run for president.

So now that Hillary is not going to win – let's blame every thing but Hillary and her sorry campaign!

Ferraro just proves she is a bitter white woman who is still pissed!

COPIED AND PASTED THIS COMMENT-YOU ARE SO RIGHT! SHE AND ALL THE FOOLISH WOMEN WITH THEIR "IF I CAN'T HAVE MY WAY, I'M GONNA' TAKE MY TOYS AND GO HOME" MENTALITY ARE MAKING IT LOOK MORE AND MORE AS IF WOMEN HAVE NOT YET PROGRESSED TO THE POINT OF ABILITY TO LEAD, ACTUALLY IN ANY CAPACITY! FAR TOO OPINIONATED AND EMOTIONAL. TO ALL YOU FOOLISH WOMEN WHO ARE GIVING YOUR VOTES TO McCAIN–REMEMBER THAT WHEN HE SENDS YOUR SONS TO IRAQ, IRAN OR WHEREVER THE REPUBLICANS START THE NEXT UNNECESSARY "ETHNIC CLEANSING", POPULATION REDUCING, OIL CONTROL WAR!
A GRANDMA WHO HAS SEEN TOO MANY WOMEN ABUSE THEIR POWER!

Why is this NEWS??? And why is she trying to inject herself into the scene again? She is really a Democrat? That makes me wonder a lot about this woman. Who cares what she does with her vote!!! She panders bigotry at it finest. I think that all well meaning people (or Dems) should treat this and future comments of hers with absolute contempt they deserve.

Now that's a really stupid thing to come out of her mouth. She would rather not vote or vote McCain and set woman BACK than to vote for Obama....She should be ashamed....as any other democrats that want the democratic agenda but will make a "stand" because Hillary, their candidate, didn't get in...stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.........

What a low blow to Obama. Playing the sex card. What about his plans and ideas? I am voting for him. Clinton can not be trusted. She lies. She also stayed with a guy that openly cheated on her. I have no respect for her.

She need to sit her old behind down and crawl back under a rock. She's jealous that a Black man has a better chance in achieving his goal to become President as compare to her goal to become Vice President. My take on the whole issue, she's a bigot and a racist. She allows other to say whatever they want against Obama. But jumps on him for saying "sweetie" to someone. For her, this is personal. Shame on her.

hillary 08!: Why should anyone care about you "claiming" to be rich? because you have an MBA?

Some people out there feel rich enough to have a loving family and their health, but I guess making more than I do in a lifetime is much better.

This retort is not Hillary or Obama based, this is from a person who has to listen to a disgusting human such as yourself proclaim to be greater than everyone else.

To answer your question I have donated to numerous cancer research funds, volunteered for the big brother big sister club of America, and walk for the march of dimes, but lets talk about what you have done other than make a load of money and I'm sure spoil those three children while others in the world starve and wish they had parents that had an MBA. You probably kick puppies too!

I guess having an MBA doesn't make you a better person than me after all.

Vote for McCain and your voting for Bush again.

People if you have a problem with a person don't let that cloud your judgement. Obama is the best person for the job. Obama is going to shock the World! So vote for McCain because he's going to need it when the debates start and Obama will when your heart.

anyone who is a clinton support who votes for mccain gets what they deserve. roe v. wade is gone. a third war is a reality. and the recession continues. the worst part is that the same people that vote him into office will complain about it the next four years. it's the same as the people who votes for bush in '00 and '04 and then are upset that he isn't a good president. you know what? i make a boatload of money and i could care less about pro-choice/pro-life so knock yourself out. vote mccain and give me my tax break.
