Ferraro suggests she may not vote for Obama

Ferraro is a supporter of Clinton's presidential campaign.
Ferraro is a supporter of Clinton's presidential campaign.

(CNN) - Geraldine Ferraro, the outspoken former Democratic vice presidential candidate and a supporter of Hillary Clinton's White House bid, told the New York Times she may not vote for Barack Obama should he be the party's nominee.

Ferraro, a former member of Clinton's finance committee who resigned that post earlier this year after making comments many viewed as racially offensive, also said she thinks the Illinois senator has been "terribly sexist" over the course of the presidential campaign.

The comments appear to underscore the potential difficulty Obama may have courting some women voters in the fall - many of whom have said they feel a solidarity with the New York senator over the barriers Clinton faces in her bid to become the first female president.

Ferraro has not shied away from discussing the impact of race and gender throughout the Democratic presidential campaign. In March, the former congresswoman told a California newspaper the chief reason Obama's candidacy was successful was because he was black.

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she told The Daily Breeze. "And if he was a woman, he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Ferraro also said Clinton had been the victim of a "sexist media."

Obama later called those comments "ridiculous," and Clinton said she disagreed with them.

Ferraro maintained her comments were not racist, but ultimately resigned from the Clinton campaign after they caused an uproar.

"The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you. I won't let that happen," she wrote in her resignation letter to Clinton, adding, "I am who I am and I will continue to speak up."

Obama can do no wrong. He's a flawless being. In fact, he is the new Jesus Christ. At least this is what the media and the Democrat's in congress and of course his supporters would have us all believe. But just wait... just wait....

I'm tired of hearing all the Clinton losers say that she did not get a fair shake. That is complete and total BS. The both got the same deal. And she was supposed to be the smarter tenured leader? A mimanaged campaign, poor staff choices and a history of scandal that goes back 25 years. That's what did her in. If you whinners can't accept the way American politics is played maybe you should pack up and camp out with Bin Laden. You all are just sore losing chumps....

SINCE CAPS GET THE ATTENTION OF PEOPLE USUALLY PLEASE READ BELOW.

Do you REALLY want McCain as your candidate just because Obama or Hillary don't win; both of whom said they'd support each other 100% if either was the candidate. Do you really feel THAT spiteful just because your candidate didn't win? If so, then you play a dangerous game because to elect someone who ISN'T like your original candidate, is completely mind boggling and potentially harmful not only to yourself but your country as a whole. Do you really want to cause all this harm to our party just because you feel disadvantaged or left out in the race? Shame on you.

I am from the UK and have observed the democratic presidential race as a neutral over the past few months. However, I'm appalled by some of the abuse and unjust comments directed at Obama without anyone ready to start talking about actual issues!!!!

How anyone can say that the media is biased towards Obama is beyond me. I have no reason to take sides in this election as I cannot vote, but it seems to me that he has been unfairly treated by the media ever since he started to become the frontrunner.

Is this an attempt to boost ratings in order to make the race seem closer than it really is?

I'm not saying the UK is perfect by any means as our media can be awful at times, but surely its their duty to remain neutral in such an important event and just report facts and talk about issues..

Any slight mishap by Obama in what he says is jumped on by the press, where as Clinton's antics are totally ignored..

It is a shame that this is what the US presidential race has turned into and many people around the world are waiting to see who wins in November, and from what I gather Obama would be a far more popular choice....

    wow.

    genius idea clinton people:

    feminists united for mccain!
so he can destroy roe when he gets to pick new justices for the supreme court.
so he can eliminate federal defense of title IX cases when he rolls back funding for the office of civil rights.
    etc.

you people have got to get a grip: mccain would be a disaster.

Just read these post from all the Obamniacs. If you are white and don't vote for Obama, you are racist. They don't need the votes of the Clinton supporters. Do they plan to fix the election or just anoint Obama and forego the election.

Ferraro may be just a typical white person but she has a right to her opinion and to vote as she wishes-that is what this country is about. You (all of you Obamniacs) have a responsibility to respect her choice; just as she has a responsibility to respect yours.

By the way, if all the Clinton supporters vote for McCain, guess who will be President!!!

This is the NEW Clinton plan – the plan to point out that without her on the ticket, Obama 'can't' win.

This amibitious farce of a leader never gives up, does she?

    What has she ever 'led?'

I entered this year fully expecting to vote Democrat. But given the choices – a seven-year Senator who is running on the coat tails of a morally bankrupt husband and a three-year Senator who voted 'present' in order to avoid taking a position – I have little choice. Neither has ever led anyone doing anything.

GERALDINR FERRARO DOESN'T MAKE ANY COMMENTS WITHOUT THE BLESSING OF HILLARY CLINTON. HILLARY IS FORCING OBAMA TO TAKE HER AS VP; OTHERWISE SHE WANTS OBAMA TO LOSE. WHATEVER COMES OUT OF FERRARO'S MOUTH COMES DIRECTLY FROM HILLARY'S MOUTH. WHAT THEY ARE SAYING IS...DON'T VOTE FOR OBAMA UNLESS HILLARY IS ON THE TICKET.

IT IS ALL ABOUT HILLARY. SHE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT GAS PRICES, FOOD ON THE TABLE AND HARD WORKING WHITE OR BLACK AMERICANS. IF SHE REALLY CARED, SHE WOULD CAMPAIGN FOR OBAMA UNCONDITIONALLY AND MAKE SURE HE WINS BECAUSE HE SHARES SILMILAR VIEWS.

    HILLARY IS RUTHLESS AND CORRUPT.

Obama is a phony. Believe what you want to believe, about him, about Hillary supporters, about Republicans. Some people are actually interested in the truth.

When exactly was Obama a sexist? Maybe she means that Obama is the sexiest?

And really? There are no more important issues? How about: war in Iraq, universal health care, education, global warming, reform of a political system, US position in the world...

People, stop thinking with your dicks or ovaries and start thinking with your brain...

You cannot trust CLINTON? How can you trust a guy who calls his grandmother "a typical white person", calls reporters "sweetie", buys a mansion in Illinois for $300,000 under cost due to shady political connections, has a wife who gets a $200,000 RAISE due to hospital connections and oh, yes, she is ashamed of her country yet she grabbed all the government aid she could while in college. WAKE UP CRAZED OBAMA MOONIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am happy that she had never become our Vice-President. We have had a narrow-minded president for near 8 years. If Ferraro reflects Hillary, then certainly we would again have a narcissistic mind blindly crashing into reality, which in turn would bring more suffering to the America people. We do not need these old ego-driven people pulled to the magnate of power. We need people that properly disperse power back to the American people.
