Buffett is supporting Obama.
Buffett is supporting Obama.

(CNN) — Warren Buffett, a longtime friend of both Hillary and Bill Clinton, told CNN Monday Barack Obama would be his choice for the next President of the United States.

Speaking with CNN's Becky Anderson, the billionaire investor said he would gladly vote for either candidate, but said it is clear the senator from Illinois will be the party's nominee.

"So it would be Barack Obama, — [he] would be my preference," Buffett said.

Buffett had refused to take sides in the prolonged Democratic presidential race. The Nebraska Democrat hosted million dollar fundraisers for both last summer, and had previously held back on endorsing one over the other. Though he reportedly said at the Clinton fundraiser that the New York senator is "the person to run the country."

Buffett also has offered Clinton informal advice on the economy, and the two led a question-and-answer session about the economy with voters at a San Francisco campaign event in December.

Buffett, the world's richest man according to Forbes Magazine, runs Omaha-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc. The company's assets total more than $260 billion.

It is amazing that 99 9/100 of U.S. citizens do not have the stamina nor fortitude to stand up for what they truly believe. People, as duly noted by this presidential nomination process, cannot take a "STAND," then "STAND BY THEIR DECISION THROU THE END."

Most of what I have seen from super delegates, politicians, and media is an inability to look at the "REAL" facts as evidenced by experience, track record, and fortitude for staying on course, then making a decision "AND STAYING THE COURSE."

What does that convey to the younger generation. Do what you will???? Perhaps that is why the U.S. is in such a depressed recessive state.

Get lost OBAMA – you and your good old boys club are about to be taken to the cleaners by Women Count PAC.

CitizenAJ   May 19th, 2008 5:58 pm ET

She may be right with her electoral votes math "for the primaries", but one thing for sure, some of those states she beat Senator Obama in, she and Senator Obama will defeat John McCain in. So, the democratic nominee, with the support of the party, independents, and disenfranchised republicans, will win those states in order to keep Senator McCain out of the White House and prevent the continuation of failed policies of the current administration. Of course, she is counting Florida and Michigan in her 300 electoral vote count, her continued fantasy. I hope the good citizens of both those states realize who was responsible for their votes not counting, their state parties and government.

Media showing bias again with this misleading headline. Headline implies that Buffet prefers Obama over HIllary when in truth Buffet prefers DEms to Republicans. Shame on you biased media :-)

Hilary Fans, DO NOT VOTE FOR MCSAME IF OBAMA WINS!!! We can't afford to have half the democratic votes go to mccain. If we mess up this elections, we may not have a chance for another one.

christopher   May 19th, 2008 5:56 pm ET

Thanks Warren! I used to be a Hillary backer…now I just feel sorry for her. She keeps changing the rules and still falls further behind Obama. I do hope she stays around to help the party. Warren likes her and knows her well but also knows that it's time to start hammering McCain!

Kathleen   May 19th, 2008 5:56 pm ET

When this election first started, I didn’t know who I wanted to see as the next President of United States. The longer this circus continues the more I am convinced that Obama should be the next Democratic nominee. I saw a side of Hilary that I wish I have never seen. That woman is so self-centered, egotistic, and power driven person. She doesn’t care about the Democratic Party; all she cares about is being back in the White House. I would rather see McCain as President than have hell on earth Hilary Clinton as the next President of United States . Sometimes, I wonder, which party she really belongs to.

sbr   May 19th, 2008 5:56 pm ET

i would not cast my vote for him were he the last person standing. I will now vote mccain if he is nominated. What a barack Cry Baby, Boo Hoo don't pick on my wife. Well buckle in for the ride Mr. obama, this is the smallest bit of what the republican party has planned for you. I think hillary should run independent.

Mary   May 19th, 2008 5:55 pm ET

One thing is that endorsement has not done BHO any good if you guys can keep the record starting from the Kennedys, John Kerry, Oprah Winfrey, Maria Shriver etc. So Warren can be another big donor expecting something in return.

Hillary '08

She is going to be the President of United States unless NY goes to John McCain, this thing can happen you know.

Elly   May 19th, 2008 5:55 pm ET

Wow I am starting to think Hillary is bi-polar…. I mean one week she seems normal and the next she is citing Karl dirtbag ROVE as someone who thinks she can win… Desperation in its worst form

HILLARY WILL NOT GET THE NOMINATION BECAUSE OF THE PERSON WHO SHE IS….SELF SERVING,, NOT TRUST WORTHY,
THE USE OF DIRTY TACTICS IN HER CAMPAIGN…THE AMERICAN
PEOPLE JUST DID NOT BELIEVE IN HER

Les-WA   May 19th, 2008 5:53 pm ET

Buffett did NOT endorse Obama, the media and Obama campaigners are claiming Obama is the nominee, Warren based his answer on that. He will vote for democratic candidate in general election for President.

I thought Obama supporters are "educated" you sure don't sound like it. Your level comprehension is quite abysmal.

And they want to raise taxes!!!!!!   May 19th, 2008 5:53 pm ET

Buffett is clearly talking about the General Election, not his preference at this time. AGAIN, shame on CNN for the misleading headline; you're catching up to MSNBC in the bias column.

Tyrone   May 19th, 2008 5:52 pm ET

Warren Buffett,

Thank you from all Barack's supporters!

This latest endorsement just helps to put a stop to the belief that "The Elderly Cannot Accept Change! ( I am ashamed to say that even I believed this) This is as radical a change as the Elderly have ever been faced with! It is definitely bigger than anything that I have ever seen.

Looking in from the outside, Americans you are at a crossroad never before imagined! Please make sure that you choose the right path to travel!

Again Barack must be so Proud and Privileged to receive this endorsement. Thank you Warren Buffett!

BOY OH BOY, I bet CNN was just chomping at the bit to report this. Interesting how when you read it you realize that the only reason he is "endorsing" Obama is because he is the presumptive nominee, in other words, he wants a Democrat elected. Love that CNN spin.

Gina   May 19th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

It always makes me nervous when someone really rich endorses someone, but I need to do some research on Buffet. He did support both candidates a year ago, which shows he has an interesting and open-minded approach. And he is a democrat.

I have discovered an interesting fact about Hillary supporters (some of my friends are)-they get their news from Hillary's website, then come on to Mainstream media articles uninformed and bombastic.

This is my news ritual: Whatever it says on Obama's site, I look at CNN, NY Times, msn, and Wall Street Journal to get a more objective, or at least outside, view. If these sites don't seem to have the same info, I keep looking. If it's an important issue, I check if "democracy now" has covered it. I think if Hill (and McCain) supporters followed this, they would have more substantive things to say than
"peer pressure"
"experience"
"ahead in the popular vote"
"stealing the election"
"she deserves it"
"she tells the truth"
Although, if they were researching the issues, they might not support the same people anymore, we should all be open to ideas, and not to the cultish, closed-minded "Hillary or McCain" "Hillary 2012″ mentality. We have a world to take care of RIGHT NOW. Stand up and take responsibility, America.
Get informed. NOT from the candidates websites, but from a variety of sources.

Joe Reg   May 19th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

I think it's terrible how friends turn on friends…why not just remain silent? If you think about it..there really isn't a need for these people to endorse anyone. Oh well, they can have Obama I'd rather leave the country than live under his rule.

Linda   May 19th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

FYI for the individual that wrote in about them not counting NY, PA, Fl, etc., Kentucky has not voted yet, so why would they count that state? Now you sound like Hillary.

Deborah   May 19th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

Warren Buffet is the richest and also the cheapest man alive. I wouldn't give two cents for his preference for the nomination. This man has never given his children a penny and has left them very little in his will. His daughter once needed a new kitchen and he lent her the money and had her sign an installment contract and pay it back monthly. He also did not even pay for their education. Now I can understand teaching children responsibility but give me a break. They say he is a tyrant. His endorsement means nothing…..just another person trying to get on a bandwagon to nowhere. In the end it will have all been for nothing. McCain will be our next President.

Joe Reg   May 19th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

So its not really who this idiot wants to vote but siding with who looks like they will win as opposed to really looking at who they are. – this whole thing is making me sick. – I voted? What for? Its the same CRAP as when Bush stole the election from Gore. It doesn't matter. She would still be in the lead with Fl and MI. What a crock. Same with MCGovern. In my opinion , it is cowardly not to finish with what you believe to the end but to say oh well she won't win now so we will just SLITHER to the otherside and hope we will be in that person's good graces.

Alayna in Seattle, WA   May 19th, 2008 5:45 pm ET

For anyone who truly cares about our broken economy, take notice. The best economic minds of our time (like Buffet and several Nobel Prize winning economists) have endorsed Senator Obama.

Anyone with one logical bone in their body can simply look at the way the two campaigns have been run financially (Obama at a consistent surplus, HRC currently $20 million in the hole and declining rapidly) and the choice is crystal clear.

Wake up America, and for those who simply cannot relinquish their HRC dreams for whatever reason or deep seated bias, get over it and let's move this country out of the GWB dark ages and onto a positive, forward thinking track.

Once again the press twists words in a headline to make BHO look like he already has the nomination – he says it is now obvious that he will be the nominee….well yes he will since everyone already declared the best candidate the loser.

CNN and MSNBC have been disgusting throughout to Hillary Clinton – and the DNC disinfranchised millions of voters in Florida and Michigan.

When will CNN publish the Michelle Obama thesis as a headline? Or Baraks voting record as a headline?

The rules said they could revote -why did they not

Clinton "supporters" voting for John in November? I doubt it! If so, it certainly shows their dedication to the Dem. party. The only ones whining more than Hillary are her supporters. The road to the nomination will be a much easier one than the road to Penn. Ave. Best of luck Barack.

The Republicans love what they have helped do to the Democrats Party…………and that is totally "D I V I D E" it. You know unless we screw our heads back on instead of all the bickering and fighting the Republicans will rule the White House for decades to come. With Hillary's supporters not voting for Obama and Obama's supporters not voting for Hillary we will never see the White House; and the division will just grow deeper. I do believe that the division that is being created will be lasting; PRIDE can be so stubborn; but in staying PRIDEFUL we all lose. To both sides I say enjoy watching the Republicans regain power!!!!!! The sad part is that they will get it even with a weak candidate. We all should be celebrating and we are not. And to those that don't think this will go on to the next election think again. Time to switch to an Independant, this party is doomed.

Any living thing should count himself/herself/itself previledge to have the chance to witness the great things that are about to take place in the history of America and humankind.

The dreams of Dr. King has been fulfilled in abundance. Barack Obama has done what so many Philosophers, Psychologists, Freedom Fighters, Men of God and Great Men of Our Civilisation have predicted.

Most of the Pharaohs of Egypt were black, but in order not to portray the blackman as somebody with wisdom, historians and some people tried to cover up the influence of black Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt. Reliable sources show that King Tut, the boy Pharaoh was black.

Forgetting about all the cover ups, the truth that a blackman can do great things when given the opportinuty has seen the light of day. Barack Obama will redeem America and the entire world.

God bless Obama!
God bless America!
God bless the white people who voted for Obama !!!

“The states I’ve won total 300 electoral votes. If we had the same rules as the Republicans I would be nominee right now. We have different rules so what we’ve got to figure out is who can win 270 electoral votes. My opponent has won states totaling 217 electoral votes. Now we both have won some states that are going to be hard for us to win in the fall like TX and OK. But I still have a cushion if you look at all the states that I have won and take out those that may not be in our column come the fall. My opponent has 217 electoral votes from places like Alaska and Idaho and Utah and Kansas and Nebraska and many of his votes and his delegates come from caucus states which have a relatively low turnout,” Clinton told voters in Kentucky Monday.

Modler Jeancharles   May 19th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

why is it so hard for everyone to see that math is math. i just want a democrat to win the race. but if you support clinton or obama. you have to see that obama won 32 states while clinton only won 17, how is that not important. and he is ahead in all delagates. people in America need to realize that things don't always go their way, but you have to be educated enough to respect that. so many people saying obama is not fit to be president, why not? he deserves to be here. he works hard to be here. and he has alot of people who believe that. thats why they have all the rules about delagates and the states holding primaries differently. if it wasn't important they would have one big election whoever wins win.. but instead they hold states primaries. so please guys lets stop being ignorant and respect the fact that someone campaign his butt off to win 32 states and close to 2000 delagates.

Claudette Keller   May 19th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Shawny   May 19th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Hey Warren Buffet definetly knows math. In two weeks many Hillary supporters will re-learn plain english and basic math skills.

They will began to understand why the majority is saying "She can't win, the math doesn't add up in her favor" – and realize what the words mean. They will also learn to count the super delegates one by one that will flow to Obama as he raps up the nomination. They will see the obvious and inevitable.

I respect you Hillary for changing to a positive campaign.

Democrats let's unite.

OBAMA in 08! Heck- Hillary for Vice President. Take it or leave it Kentucky and West Virginia.

True   May 19th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

If its a rough and tumble primary. I am proud that I donated and volunteered to help the Obama campaign win in such a POSITIVE manner. Democrats now have to unite to fight against the GOP and Republican party, and betrayers of the Democratic party. You can bet the house, I'll do the same to help Obama in November!!!

Jayhawk   May 19th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

To bad the DNC changed the rules. BY proportional representation in each state in stead of Republican and electoral method of welghing votes. THEY changed the rules. Hillary would be winning electorally if they hadn't changed the rules of winner take all and all the men and media know this. Naturally the DNC says Florida and Michigan broke their fake rules.
By the general election rules, Hillary is winning and should win. But it isn't about racial politics, its about gender politics. She had too many male advisors. Sabotage all the way.

Good to see a neighbor be at the top of the list of emails selected to be read on-air. Way to go, Dan from Kirkland! I, too, think that Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius would be an excellent running mate for Obama. She's a savvy, strong, fair and well respected Democrat in a state full of fundamental Republicans.

Frank, San Diego   May 19th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

You have to wonder what Buffet knows that other people don't.

Maybe it is that, historically speaking, the economy performs far better under Democrats than it does under Republicans.

And it doesn't matter whether the Democrat is a liberal or a moderate because he (or she) leads a political coalition that is focused on the welfare of citizens generally rather than on securing more wealth and political influence for those who are already rich and powerful. And, in doing so, they create a better business climate by promoting the interests of consumers.

In this way, the center-liberal coalition that business people so often oppose is actually their best ally. Strange, isn't it?

Dan, TX   May 19th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

The primaries are not over and Obama does not yet have 2025 or 2210 or whatever it will be yet. The remaining superdelegates could overwhelmingly support Clinton (although why they would not have backed her in January is mysterious). Obama can only win with Hillary Clinton's support. If she supports Obama, then anyone who supported her AND respects her will vote for Obama.

James, Redlands, CA   May 19th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Mr. Buffet seems to cleary be putting party and platform over loyalty to any one candidate.

Leave Hilliary and her supporters alone.

If they don't want to include the popular votes from the caucus states to make it seem like she has the popular vote, so be it.

She is a proud woman/person who has served New York well. She also has served the country well with the exception of one key vote.

Let her have her pride.

But do not rip up the party and doom the country to more Justices like Alito and Roberts, continuation of our occupation of Iraq and the needless dying and maiming of our men and women in uniform just because the person you support is not going to win.

Warren is not saying that Barack is better, just that there is no way for Hillary to win the nomination. The democrats need to get on with the business of campaigning against the republicans if they're going to capture the white house. Six months is not a long time.

noemi in los angeles   May 19th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Lyle: People can endorse whom ever they like. Buffet is not part of the process, he's not a superdelegate. Duh. What do you mean tragic? The voting process is still taking place, no votes have been stopped. Don't be so uninformed. I'm sure you'd be jumping for joy if this was a Clinton endoresement. We have to get over our small differences and fight against McCain, not amongst Democratic brothers and sisters.

By the way, if CA could do a re-vote, Obama would win. :-P

Don in Florida   May 19th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

As a Florida voter and supporter of Obama, I don't feel that any of the democratic candidates have disenfranchised me. If i am angry with anyone it would be with our governor for putting us in this mess. I believe we Floridians will come out in record numbers to vote for our candidate of choice whether it be McCain or Obama. I really wish people would stop saying that we will use our voices in protest because we've been 'disenfranchised'. Why would i be angry with the DNC? We knew the rules going in. But I bet that in the future states will think long and hard before they disobey the rules.

There are several woman Senators who have personal integrity and would be better choices than Hillary. Meanwhile I will vote for Obama.

It's time for Hillary to wake up!!! and understand that she got spanked and it's over. She appears to be very ill the way she keeps looking for irrevalant ways to show that she's winning. It's really very sad. Not only is she in denial but she's behaving with an entitlement mindset. Who does she think she is? Nancy Pelosi will be the first female president, not only is she inteligent, but she's sane. I'm sure that I hear the fat lady singing, she's been singing ever since Missouri. What kind of sick mind actually says, I'm not counting caucas votes in my totals, well, I didn't win any. Go back to one of your homes, I believe your from Kentucky today since their primary is tomorrow. Just stop referring to the primaries as a race. Rhe race has been over for a while, you're just still running. The real dream (nightmare ticket ) is Huckabee and you, two candidates who don't understand math or simple rules.

Mr. Buffet, it shows your ignorance. You may be a billionaire but your knowledge about politics is zero. How can you endorse a person who has no experience in politics, who has no achivements in his career for our country. Do you want to give our country in his hands. Obama, just go away. Perhaps you can join Buffet's empire.

Mr. Buffet, the great investor believes you should invest your vote on Obama. If you don't know who this man is or how much his opinion matters, you obviously need to get out more.

By the way, Clinton is NOT winning in popular vote. She is counting FL and MI, but disenfranchising the people vote voted in all caucuses. Look who's the "disenfranchiser" nowww! Obama is simply playing by the rules, something YOU obviously can't do.

Democrats in the White House 08.

I support Obama but I will certainly vote Democrat.

No, Lyle. It's sad that you don't seem to grasp the concept of democracy. But that's your problem, not mine. If you are of the age to vote, and judging by your answer, highly unlikely, then by voting, you yourself are endorsing a candidate, just like Buffett is doing. Your comment effectively wipes out the point of the other 40+ states voting up to this point. Follow Buffett's lead in thinking before commenting.

Ok Hillary supporters…let the Buffet bashing begin!

Democrat   May 19th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

It pains me to see all of the Hillary supporters behave so badly because Hillary Clinton will apparently lose this nomination. She was given every fair chance, if not more to run an election based on merits and policy…I was with her until she turned the tide of the campaign and made it about attacking and negativity. I was really turned off and annoyed that she was simply being a politician and not thinking of the big picture for the democratic party. She simply lost. He ran the better campaign. She did not. Why is it his fault that he ran the better campaign? Why take it out on Senator Obama because he respected both the primary and caucus states, raised the money, engaged the youth, tried to keep it clean and didn't use his friends at ABC to run a "hit job" debate with a former employee, George Stephanopulous as a moderator. Get a grip everyone. McCain is not the answer. He is a very angry, bittter, old man who wants to keep us at war and completely wipe out our economy. I will never vote McCain over any democrat. Period.

Asians for Hillary   May 19th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

This doesn't mean anything. This guy endorses Obama only because he thinks Obama has more chance of winning the nomination. However, in the end, it's voters who decide who'll be the president. I can't wait to see Obama's downfall in the general election. As far as I know, over 70% of Asians and Latinos will not vote for Obama, and there'll be a significant number of Hillary's women supporters who will not vote for Obama. Obama is doomed to lose!

I'll continue to vote for Hillary!

Tam/Stone Mountain   May 19th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

That is the way it seems to me. Big wigs don't even want us all to vote. What is Obama so scared of? Why not let everyone vote, count all votes, then decide. You are complaining that we want to count Fl. and Mich. All we have to do is recognize that Obama already broke the rules when he ran an add in Fl. before their primary. So shut up Buffet , who cares who you are for? If you were smart you would stand up for all people in AMerica not just the wealthy. ALL people have a right to vote. If you want to live in a country where people have no voice then go to Iran.

Amazing how polite people are to those who endorse Obama, where those who actually have the courage to go with their beliefs and not sell out are called all kind of names. Seems her former friends are seeing who can try and humiliate her the most. I guess loyalty is a lost character trait, and just another reason our culture is turning into the mess that it is. No matter, I still support the only candidate who actually has the knowledge, experience, and ability to solve problems, and that would not be Senator Obama. He is just not qualified, and his arrogance and that of his supporters turned me off a long time ago.

JJ-Orlando Florida   May 19th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

I am so mad at my democratic party. I guess Puerto Rico voters are more important than the millions of Florida democrats that voted. America seems more like a capitalistic–communist state now days. The guys with the money control everything and that is why America is so messed up.

Dave, CA   May 19th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

Nuff said. Adios Hillary. You can pay your own debt…both you and Bill have enough $$$….we didnt ask you to keep dragging this through.

OBAMA 2008   May 19th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

All the Smart people support Obama, all the Women who say they will vote for Mccain watch out when Mccain gets two hard core conservative judges to the supreame court and make Abortion illigal. TIME TO UNITE DEMOCRATS. THE SMARTEST MAN IN THE WORLD HAVE SPOKEN AND HE WANTS OBAMA TO BE THE PRESIDENT. WHO IS BETTER TO PICK A WINNER THAN MR BUFFET. Lets Rally around Obama and Win the White House. BYE BYE HILLARY YOU HAVE LOST FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS NOW EVEN THOUGH YOU LIVE IN A FANTASY WORLD OF YOUR OWN.

OBAMA 2008

Stephina   May 19th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

True friends do not support opposing candidate choices; unless of course you are secretly for McCain and know how beatable Obama will be in November :)

McCain in 2008!!!

Phong Nguyen   May 19th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

I wonder if Mr. Buffet is a superdelegate! It seems that he picks the leading candidate instead of the most qualifying one!!! It is not over yet because neither of the candidates has got the required number of delegates including the states of Florida and Michigan!!! Let the remaining states complete their primaries and then go from there!!!

Bill from Ca   May 19th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

This speaks volumes about the real things going on in this country..

The GOP is being put out to dry….

SEE YA' John McShame…Bush Hugger

Elizabeth, NC   May 19th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

What is he bringing to the table? A superdelegate vote or donations. Either will be very well accepted.

at   May 19th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

I have tremendous resoect for Mr. Buffet. He is a brilliant man and I know he studied the facts before amking a decision. I am proud to be a supporter of Senator Obama. Let us unite and win in November.

Tom   May 19th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Warren decided to sign on with who "looks like" will be the nominee – that hardly seems like an incredible vote of confidence.

Keith   May 19th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Wow…is he out of the loop, or what? It's too bad a well-respected man like Mr. Buffet would make such a terible mistake.

Although I am a Clinton supporter, Senator John McCain has my vote in November!

Ruthie   May 19th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Hey Hillary – why don't you let Mr. Buffet explain how to count the popular vote. Seems you can' your $$$ or your votes correctly!

Brendon   May 19th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Lets get real, the rules are clear The candidate with the most delagates win. As for those IDIOTS in Fla. and michigan rules are rules and you did'nt follow them Billary and obama agreed to these rules before the game started to me thats reason enough not to trust Hillary.

Darrell - WI   May 19th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Steve Mc – I'm not going to look at my daughters and be ashamed of anything. I'm not voting for Hillary because she is a woman, I'm not voting for Hillary because she is an idiot.

Nice try trying to play the gender card. Why don't you give Geraldine Ferraro a call.

PDX   May 19th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Another example of twisted reporting. Buffet wasn't necessarily choosing Obama over Clinton, he was just saying it looked like Obama would be the Democratic nominee so he would vote for Obama.

The media has handed this nomination to Obama on a silver plate, just because of mangling the facts and spinning the message for Obama.

GULF WAR VET   May 19th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Jo Jo   May 19th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Gee, the world's wealthiest man and #1 businessman picked the candidate who has organized a phenomenal fund raising machine over a candidate who is deeply in debt and has had to constantly loan herself money to keep her pathetic campaign barely afloat.

Big news.

Dennis   May 19th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Another Obama SUCKUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

White & Old Midwest Female   May 19th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Great! Another SMART Democrat that doesn't give a crap about what Geraldine Ferraro thinks or says. Thank God she never got elected as a veep!

Women out there–do you see why we can't get a woman elected? We need someone with more of a brain and more tact than Ferraro and more integrity than Clinton. She's out there…somewhere, and just like Obama has emerged now, she will emerge someday.

Carl, Oregon   May 19th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Did you hear Obama whining about people criticizing Michelle? Well, if you don't want her criticized, keep her home. Anyone you put on the campaign trail is open to criticism.

Can't believe he not only bowls a 37 but is a WHINER.

susie   May 19th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

How come everyone says Obama is black? He is half white.

Annette   May 19th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

A wise man, making a wise decision.

MEME FOR OBAMA   May 19th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Thank you for joining the correct movement and let us all thrust Barak Obama to where he needs to be in order to bring the neccessary changes to Washington

The Other Campaign Strategist From 115th St & Amsterdam Ave   May 19th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Well not exactly who you might expect to endorse someone the GOP has FALSELY accused of being a TAX & SPEND Liberal …

Senator Obama will be a TRANSFORMATIONAL President. America is coming off its low point. Warren Buffet can see the way to the future … so should others…

About the most down-to-earth billionaire there is …

Ron R   May 19th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Here's a guy who potentially will be adversely effected financially should some of Obama's ideas become law…AND HE STILL SUPPORTS HIM, This is the kind of thinking we need to turn this country around and leave it in much better shape for our kids and grandkids.

Jazzy   May 19th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Smart choice Warren. Glad to see you are willing to support whoever wins the democratic nomination.

Bill   May 19th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

You know what the say about opinions. Everyone has one.

It took us common folk to get the bigshots attention. Now, they are coming along too!!!! YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!

Hillary 08 & 12   May 19th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

It is very obvious that McCain will rib Obama apart when it comes to national securety and the american people will turn to McCain just to be safe so i belive that the super delegets know this very well and this is why they have not all jumped on the Obama band wagon as most had thought…… so therefore i belive that this race is far from over and Hillary will do what she is most famous for and come back from out of no where to win and then beat McCain in the Fall

HILLARY 08 & 12

Adindu Obinna, Toronto Canada   May 19th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

GO OBAMA, REMEMBER WHAT THEY SAID TO TONY MONTANA IN SCAREFACE " THE WORLD IS IN YOUR HAND" MACAIN IS NOT A COMPETITOR COMPARED TO HILLARY. WE ARE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE. GOOD JOB.

Mikey   May 19th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

I can't wait to hear all the nasty things the Hillary and McCain supporters are going to say about the man who is arguably the best financial mind in America.

I really thought Hillary was angling for the VP slot. Now I realize she wants a permanent spot on SNL. Her arguments just keep getting funnier and funnier. If Barack Obama were John McCain and they were in the General Election, she would be winning. Or is that, he can't get to 2210 without the FL and MI delegates that don't count.

Either she's a comedian or she inhaled….or…..oh, no….get the straightjacket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Denial   May 19th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

Big Endorsement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QLC in Houston   May 19th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

WOW! That is a big a really BIG endorsement! The financial guru has spoken. We should follow Mr. Warren Buffet the GREAT! His longstanding wisdom has made him one of the most revered entreprenuers of our time.

When Warrren Buffet talks everyone listens.

Thank you for your support Mr. Buffet.

If all the superdelegates cast their vote for Sen. Obama, Sen. Clinton would still think she is the winner. There would be some other avenue she would create to take her rightful place in the white house.

It is mine, I don't care what the polls say, I don't care what the voters say, I don't care what the DNC says and I don't care what any one else says, I am moving back in the white house on the date of my choice. She plan to be the president regardless.

This is a longtime friend that knows many things that the voters don't know.

All these turncoats for Obama they can celebrate now, but then they will be throwing pity parties when he loses in Nov.

Dean - Colton, CA   May 19th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

If voting for Obama is the sign of a misogynist, then voting for Clinton or McCain is a sign of a racist. Follow the logic…

Anyone who claims that a vote for or against any of these candidates is due to race, gender, age or any other single issue is simply highlighting his/her own prejudices. Says more about the speaker than those he/she is railing against. Get it Ms. Ferraro?

USAF Sr. Airman   May 19th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

OK. Well I support Obama, but I couldn't care less about this.

How about some real news like all the Supers Obama picked up today…

This is in reply to the Clinton "It's far from over" story, since comments were closed on that one.

Of course she says that because the Kentuckians have yet to vote.

Just when I thought perhaps she was gonna be reasonable, she comes out with another moment from the twilight zone.

Oh, and WTG Mr. Buffet. I thought all the filthy rich were Republicans.

Obama 2008   May 19th, 2008 5:07 pm ET

I knew you will put your bet on the winner. I believe it is the right choice for all Americans. We all hear that fat lady singing, if only if Mrs Clinton would take those ear plugs out!

Liar, Liar, pants on fire.   May 19th, 2008 5:07 pm ET

Oh, yeah!

Lyle   May 19th, 2008 5:07 pm ET

If he supports both candidates, why does he not wait until a nominee is chosen to hand out his endorsement? It is sad to see how a person as intelligent as Mr. Buffet is so easily duped by the biased media into backing a "nominee" who is not a nominee yet. This nomination is not settled yet, and you should never count your chickens before they are hatched.

Apparently, Mr. Buffet, along with Mr. Obama, has no respect for the process and does not want all votes to count. Tragic.

Dan   May 19th, 2008 5:07 pm ET

Sorry Hillary, it's over – you put up a good fight, maybe tomorrow you'll finally step out with some grace…time to support our Democratic candidate and defeat the Republicans, we can't afford another 4 years!!!

Warren Buffet really adds some gavitas to the Obama Team.

He's been a man that has always shown good judgement and he could serve as a solid sounding board on economic matters.

With all of this support there is no way he can fail. I love it. I love Obama.

He may have a thin resume and not too much "Washington" experience, but he does have common sense and good judgement. He has more common sense in his little pinky than Bush and Chaney combined.

The Truth   May 19th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Hey, I'll be looking at the results of the Kentucky election tomorrow night to see if the polls reflect honesty or the same old, same old hate Hillary crap. I wonder if CNN will apologize if they have it wrong.

Harvey, Tampa, FL   May 19th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Good news for Obama, and it clearly sounds like he doesn't want to upset the Clintons. How come so many people dread that angry Clinton phone call? They must be the worst people in the world if you go against them…

Wow! How shocking! Another Democrat jumping aboard the looks-to-be nominee!!!

marty from Indiana   May 19th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Everyone is leaving Hillary like rats jumping from a sinking ship. Hillary plans to go down with the ship. I fear it that she will sink the Democratic party just to prove she is a fighter. It is a shame "to cut off one's nose to spite one's face."

Jeanne   May 19th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

I'm a big fan of Warren Buffet and anything he says is worth listening to.

Foreclosed in NJ   May 19th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

Tjaye   May 19th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

Good call Mr. Buffet! Welcome aboard!!

I wonder why so many "good friends" of the Clintons backing Obama. I wonder why Clinton supporters aren't wondering this same thing. Maybe issues don't matter to them.

Obama O-8!

JJ in NY   May 19th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

I wonder how hilly will spin this…. probably Warren Buffet doesn't count just like the majority of states hilly lost don't count. How divorced from reality is hilly? It really shows poor judgement to remain in the race as a non factor, winning only in the state of denial .

Dennis   May 19th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Mr. Buffet seems to get it. The country does not need another Republican in the White House right now. A Democrat is needed. Senator Obama is likely to get the nomination at this point. Democrats should rally around him and works towards a win in November. If it had worked the other way, and Senator Clinton were the likely nominee, then the party would have needed to support her.

Connielp   May 19th, 2008 5:02 pm ET
