Well, Senator Obama, John McCain might be obsessed with Iran, but you are obsessed with YOURSELF. You have the gall to think that you are already the nominee. YOU ARE NOT!!!!!!!! I hope Senator Clinton wins big tonight because she so deserves it. You, Senator Obama, need more on-the-job experience and should go back to Chicago and work on it for another 4 years. HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

Dark Kent - no it was about rewarding constitutents with lucrative contracts in Iraq reconstruction. Cheney was the CEO of Haliburton and negotiated a 20 mil. severance deal. Sub-contractors also stood to reap huge contracts, not to mention new streams of oil imports for the administrations cozy relationship with that consortium.

Saddam was a convienient target and although not fully cooperative with U.N. inspectors - was no threat to U.S. interests whatsover. Plus we already maintained no fly zones.

And this is why McCain and the GOP will be absolutely stomped come November. Everybody was fretting and going all Chicken Little over the vaunted "Republican Attack Machine" but in just a short week, Obama's shown that unlike Democrats of the past, he won't be crushed by it. Rather, he'll take it on head on.

The GOP is used to having Democratic opponents who wilt under pressure. Let's see how they do against somebody who won't.

Joseph, Los Angeles California May 20th, 2008 5:52 pm ET

Well said Greg, Personally I think there are a lot of Limbaugh republicans on these blogs just trying to fan the flames of hatred. In other words, trying to be certain that we Democrats do not unite; I believe in my heart that we will. I truly believe that a true Democrat in their right mind would never write in a candidate who is not on the ballot. Common sense says one thing; that vote doesn't count.
=-====================================

Well I hate to tell ya ........you're wrong. I have been a lifelong Democrat....now Independent. Come November if that racist and anti-American Obama wins the Nomination , I will gladly vote for McCain.

"When did Obama mention low level meetings? He said he would meet without preconditions, whose flip-flopping?"

Obama has mentioned that preparation would be required before. He knows he can't just pick up the phone and meet with hostile leaders. The phrase, "without preconditions", is used to illustrate that Obama would not ask for a policy change before the meeting.

Bush, and others, have alway said something to the extent of, "we'll meet with you if you promise to dismantle the nuclear facility", or, "we'll meet with you if you free prisoners of conscience."

Obama's stance is, "I will meet with you to discuss the end of your nuclear weapons program" or, "I will meet with you to discuss the freeing of prisoners of conscience."

One side says a meeting with the President will embolden hostile leaders. The other side says dialogue will not do harm.

It's not a flip-flop at all, he's still on message.

If you ask McCain, who is Ahmadinajad... He will say he is Bin Laden's nephew or Chinese President.
McCain's brain cells are damaged long time ago. All this fake talk until Nov 2008, then he will be resting in Arizona making some stupid statements that nobody will every hear.

Fear tactics. This is a guy who is expected to meet G.W. Bush in Arozna. Tell me, it will be a time for planning lots and lots of fear tactics. McCain should talk about his refusal to grand a GI Bill that he said will be too generous. Especially when he wants to continue the Bush's war in Iraq for 5 more years raising the death tolls of soldiers from 4000 to about 4000 x 2.
What is wrong with McCain face any way. I think the doctor should check that.

You know democrats.....A couple of strange things come to mind. 1). Why are GOPers hangin' out on a liberal website like CNN? makes ya wonder doesn't it? I tend to think there is nothing much to discuss on Fauxnews. ...I mean they're so fair and balanced LOL 2). The republicans probably are feeling extremely sensitive about the topic of Iran. Does anyone remember the last time we negotiated with the Iranians? We ended up running a "rump government" out the backdoor of the white house. Anyone catch Ollie North giving his hypocracy views? I missed it. I wonder how it feels to openly discuss something you should have gone to jail for doing? Most reasonable americans would be absolutely nauseous hearing the republicans express their displeasure with open discussions with a known enemy. Heck...they discuss stuff privately and make lots of money to pay other rogue terrorist groups. Now that's government you can bank on

Obama's vision, including his willingness to engage Iran, Cuba etc., is exactly why people are voting for him in droves. Out of all of the shared platforms of the dems, this could be the singular reason his campaign is doing so well. Why are we afraid of possible win-win situations?
We have the possibility of a NEW day people. To simply speak to someone does not give credence to oppositional views or elevate the adversary, no matter how repugnant. Obama talking to McCain is a good example.

Interesting fact, 53% of Hillary supporters in Kentucky say that they believe that Barack will be the demarcate nominee.

So if Hillary supporters know this in Kentucky and it's even higher 71% Oregon then why in hell are they throwing their support behind someone who they know will lose in the end?

Just why?

Please someone help me to understand.

Mcain's argument that talking to rogue regimes diminishes the "prestige" of the US Presidency is exactly the kind of Bush-like arrogant attitude that has gotten us hated all over the world and allienated both allies and enemies. If talking to Iran has even a slight chance of saving 1,000s of lives and billions of dollars, then why not give it a try? If that fails then we are right back where we are now. Talking to North Korea has gotten us places, why not talk to Iran?

There might be one or two people I've seen who honestly meant it when they said they were Democrats who would vote for McCain or write in HRC rather than vote for Obama. In fact, statistically it seems likely. But the vast majority of the posts I've seen claiming to be such people were clearly hopeful Operation Chaos agents. Sadly for them, most Republicans trollers don't have sufficient empathy with alien (to them) viewpoints to be able to fake it very well.

I just cannot believe the America I see today. Everything any candidate says is analysed by that big powerful "polically corrected" microscope. I guess it comes in handy sometimes, especially when you have someone like McCain whinning and sniveling over the least significant subjects in the race. Flag Lapel Pins? OH my God!
Michele Obama? ... you would think that McCain has her down as the anti-Christ or something.

American hero, Fine! American President.... NOT. The man would certainly get lost in thought if he could ever really get there.

The Truth - Have you been paying attention?? Obama was GIVEN the flag pin by a veteran...THAT'S why he wears it.

You people need to get a clue. You aren't even able to follow meaningless issues, let alone the actual important issues that have influence on people's lives.

To remind those self-proclaimed standard bearers of Christianity whom, I am sure, Mccain is at pains to please, and who reflexively demonize anybody who does not fit their warped idea of goodness and godliness, including other Christians,
JESUS SAID: "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES" AND MEANT ESPECIALLY AHMADINAJAD AND OTHERS . HE SAT AND ATE WITH HIS ENEMIES WHILE NOT COMPROMISING ON ESSENTIALS, JUST LIKE OBAMA SAYS HE WILL. IT IS OBAMA WHO IS TRYING TO BE LIKE JESUS!
SIMPLE QUESTION: WHAT WOULD JESUS DO -"NAIVE, POOR JUDGMENT" GUY LIKE OBAMA THAT HE WAS/IS ?

I hope you all realize that Ahmadinejad is not the ruling council in Iran. He has no executive powers over armed forces or for declarations of war/peace. Clearly McCain does not understand that when Obama talks of meetings with the leaders of Iran, he is NOT TALKING ABOUT AHMADINEJAD! You GOPs must be desperate to drag out this fool as your nominee.

DNC will be making a big mistake if Obama is the nominee you will pay for it in november for the way you treated Hillary.

The inability of this party to recognize a qualified canditate will cost you a lot of people defecting the party, the incompetence of Howard for rejecting two important states during the primaries is a huge mistake. I never thought that I would be disenfranchised by my own party, GOOD BYE DEMOCRATY PARTY.

Bush wanted us to fear Saddam Hussien. It eventually led to an invasion that has cost us 600 BILLION.

McCain now wants us to fear Amidinajod...I guess logic would let us know that McCain wants to make IRAN his war...

If diplomacy is off the table we are left with two options...WAR..or INACTION..

If those are the options I would take Obama's diplomatic option any day of the week..

McCain is getting beat in the foriegn policy debate.

Oh My God. Obama is the most hypocritical politician to come around in the last 200 years of our country's history. Everything he has ever said he has turned it around in a matter of hours, days or weeks, depending on whatever was convenient. Makes me sick to my stomach to think he could possibly become our president. Go away Mr. Obama, you cannot possibly be serious.

How come Mc/Bush does not make the same demands of countries like China, Saudi Arabia and other atrociously worse human rights abusing countries as he makes of Cuba? ONE MORE INDICATION OF ABSENCE OF INTEGRITY!

THAT IS WHY WE NEED OBAMA!

Learning from our mistakes is what allows a person to grow and learn; this means that while we may beleive something and through personal growth learn that what we beleived was wrong. The problem with Bush is that he did not believe that he has made any mistakes so nothing changes. If a canidate has changed their position on an issue because they have gotten new information or beause they are now looking at the issue in a new light; this should be a good thing, it should show that this person has learned from their mistake. Do we really want another president who makes a decision and no matter what new information is received stands by that decision? This is what we have had for the last 8 years, we now need a president that can learn from mistakes and attempt to correct that mistake. Obama has bashed Clinton from the beginning on her vote for war in Iraq; a vote that she has said was a mistake yet Obama has accused both Clinton and McCain of "flip floping" on issues. His attitude makes me wonder if he is saying that when he makes a decision that nothing will make him change his mind; this would be "flip floping" and according to Obama this is a bad thing. Anyone who thinks that Obama will be a "CHANGE" is closeing their eyes to reality; Obama is no different from any other person runing for an elected office; if he is at a rally he will say exactly what the people at that rally want to hear in order to win their vote then go to the next rally and say something different. The fact that Obama accuses someone of "flip floping" because they made a decision years ago and have now changed their mind or position concerns me because once Bush makes a decision he does not change his stance and it appears that Obama will be the same way.

Republican in Idaho,

How is it that i am uneducated because I'm voting for McCain. You blame the war on him and Bush and yet even the most liberal senators voted to go to war as well. I know Obama says he was against it, but i guess there's no way to know how he would have voted since he wasn't in congress. You appear uneducated if you think contries that have hatred built up over houndreds of years are going to get along because the U.S. decides to talk with them. I also might be interested in more than just that one issue. Its McCain or Obama and Obama still hasn't come out on issues very clearly. I guess all i can go on are his actions. His socialist voting record is not the type of change i want.

Get ready, McCain supporters to put up with vulgarity and obsession of Obamabots. I can tell you, you are better off on ABC or FOX blogs--there are more intelligent Hillary supporters there! Theae airheads will hang on every word Obama and his hating wife says and twist it every which way like their leader to make it sound good. (it never does)...When will they ever learn that things are recorded and brought out later to prove the flip-flops and plagerism of Hillar's ideas?! Also, you will be moderated most of the time if you do not support Obama. See you on Fox!

Just think Hillary can run again in 2016 as not only the first women
president but also the oldest....

Apparently, it carries a lot of weight, it has voted in a "white man" every election time since we as African American Americans could vote. So your comment is meaningless to us..

So, for all you racists bloggers take heed in this, we have always voted for a "WHITE" with no reservation what so ever. You people will have to answer for your sins one way or another. McCain will bring us all to that realization sonner than any of us realizes.

People do not fall for the GOP tricks....McCain is their puppet. Whatever GOP says, they'll get McCain to repeat it. Listen to McCain speeches. McCain speaks as if he rehearse his speech to the public.

The last eight years there has been a real lack of leadership. The U.S. relationship with our allies is weaker than anytime anyone can remember. The U.S. standing as the world only superpower has taken has suffered.. McCain for all of his experience is naive. Talking tough and not engaging our enemies is a dumb policy. Regan talked to the Soviets. Nixon talked to the Chinese.

Obama did not say he would meet with the leaders of our enemies immediately. He said that lower level diplomacy would occur first. He calls that preparation. He would meet with the leader if he felt that the leaders of our enemies were serious. Waiting until a laundry list of preconditions were met before McCain would meet with the leaders of rogue countries is weak leadership. Reagan showed that engaging the Soviets and being very frank and honest about the U.S. position with respect to the Soviet Union was an amazing accomplishment. Reagan's persistence helped bring down that evil Soviet Union. Reagan was a strong leader. Bush talks tough while sitting in the White House sending other people's sons and daughters to war. He is a weak leader. It is too bad John McCain has chosen to be a lap dog for George W. Bush instead of being the McCain of 2000. Obama is write and McCain is wrong!
