(CNN) – Two of three voters in Oregon's Democratic primary disagree with Hillary Clinton's call for a moratorium in the federal gasoline tax. Twenty-six percent of the voters in CNN's Oregon voter poll, conducted by phone, think suspending the gas tax is a good idea; they went for Clinton over Barack Obama 64 to 34 percent. Sixty-three percent think it's a bad idea to suspend the gas tax — those voters supported Obama 67 to 31 percent.

Interesting enough, Sal, SD, is that Hillary opposes 'No Child Left Behind', but highly educated Obamabots knew that.

Peter   May 21st, 2008 3:15 am ET

Way to go Oregon..you did a great job! You are smart folks!

jaycee   May 21st, 2008 3:11 am ET

How much will tax holiday save an average American?

Tom G.   May 21st, 2008 3:10 am ET

Senator Clinton is right, suspend all federal tax on gas.
Than we can have a toll on every federal highway every 5 miles so we can up keep the roads, and create good paying jobs for woman as toll collector's so there husbands can sit home and drink shots and chug beer as Hillary does, and the men at home will be ready on day one to change the baby's diaper.

Seattle ja   May 21st, 2008 3:00 am ET

And think of what America could look like AFTER Obama is president; AFTER he has helped millions more complete higher ed: an educated populace who can think for themselves, can realize that racism and sexism bring EVERYONE down, and can know that optimism and charity is inspired by leadership and role models. I have great hope for this country…and Obama has ignited it! How sweet it would be if everyone could unite behind this guy, help him sweep the general election against McCain (similar to how Reagan did it versus Mondale in 1984), and hold him accountable for all his words once in office. Now wouldn't that send a resounding message about the Iraq war and "politics as usual"?! Fire it up, y'all!

Nevada   May 21st, 2008 2:59 am ET

Looking at this picture… I wish $3.69 was the price of gas here! Go Ducks!

John Smith   May 21st, 2008 2:56 am ET

It looks like the DEMS really know HOW to lose. It could be that it is the party with the most uneducated and vulnerable folks in this world.

Let the Dems give Hillary to the Republicans. Indeed, the Republicans are really eager for a "fighter" not a uniter. The Republicans will have no problem opening up their "war chest" against the Clintons. They will start where the Clintons left off– the White House items that were stolen and end up with "Bosnia fire." Yeah, let Hillary be the nominee for our women in this nation; blacks should work harder, they are not yet ready!

John   May 21st, 2008 2:56 am ET

They don't get self-serve in Oregon.

Abdulazeez Musa   May 21st, 2008 2:06 am ET

Thank God for these Oregon voters, 90% white voters, choosing Obama before HRC! Thank God for education! America is ready for a president that has no racial constituency than the whole of America

Sal, SD   May 21st, 2008 1:54 am ET

Oregon is educated with common sense! The no child left behind was design to keep people dumb to vote for the Republicans and now Hillary (southern strategy). What a joke.

Venus   May 21st, 2008 1:52 am ET

Thank you Oregon and thanks for your love and support!

Go Big Brown!

April   May 21st, 2008 1:49 am ET

You said add a comment but when one does so you refuse to post it. Why? Is it because it is not in Obama's favor. He is not qualified for this job and because you are so bias and hatefull I will soon take my comments to a neutral news station. I thought you were unbias, obviously, you are as corrupt and bought out as the rest of them.
Hillary 2008!!!!

raphael   May 21st, 2008 1:45 am ET

. . .i guess they educated.

Dave from Florida   May 21st, 2008 1:32 am ET

Thank you Oregon!!!

At least we have educated voters who know that Barack Obama is the best candidate to bring the real change that the country needs. We all should know that the gas tax holiday is just a " gimmick " and would cost us 300,000 in lost jobs.

REAL CHANGE IN 2008!!!

Bush III ( John McCain ) had 118 Washington lobbyists working in key positions in his campaign until he let 5 go this past week, he has only 113 more to get rid of. Voted against equal pay for women, against Roe V.Wade, has flip flopped on the Bush tax cuts, McCain-Feingold, and numerous other issues. Within 6 months if he's elected, We'll be in a war with Iran, and we'll be paying $10.00 a gallon for gas.

The voters of Oregon are TRUE Democrats, and the voters of WV and Kentucky……I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

Obama 08!!!!!!!!

goawaymongers   May 21st, 2008 1:29 am ET

The good people of Oregon (a beautiful State!) are knowledgable and politically aware. They have proven this time and again.
Thank you Oregon, and on to VICTORY in November!

Anonymous   May 21st, 2008 1:24 am ET

ya, maybe because Oregon dont have to pay taxes.

Mikey   May 21st, 2008 1:23 am ET

I guess their votes could not be bought for $28. Of course, in WV Hillary "misspoke" that figure up to $70.

Charley   May 21st, 2008 1:19 am ET

I guess that strategy didn't hold water for Clinton..

Go Obama '08..

Niccole Van Benschoten   May 21st, 2008 1:11 am ET

We are true pioneers in Oregon and vote for the person we believe capable of doing the JOB. I was one of the 67% who voted for Obama.

This country needs change and he is the man who will attempt to do it.
Clinton needs to take her pit-bull teeth out of the election and let us take on the Neo Republicans down NOW!

Give it up girl,

Devoted Democrat

Sebastian   May 21st, 2008 1:02 am ET

It was empty rethoric from Mrs. Clinton.

I don't believe she did any "heavy lifting" to make this idea a plausible reality. Or did she?

philly phil   May 21st, 2008 1:01 am ET

another "well, duh" moment: educated voters actually THINK before they vote.

OBAMA SUPPORTER   May 21st, 2008 12:59 am ET

they can't do a gas tax ho;iday until they are in office.
it is sheer nonsence

Lisa   May 21st, 2008 12:50 am ET

Of course they think its a bad idea. The majority have college educations and know a bit about economics. She can't pull that stunt on them like she can the uneducated (her words, not mine) voters in KY and W VA.

Blaqwolf YO,Oh.   May 21st, 2008 12:46 am ET

Good. People, it's time to think about green energy. Develope a wind farm in the center of the States. And a solar farm in the west. This is free "Green Juice" to help power our nation. These fuel prices will only get worse with time. There was only so many dinosaurs in the world to make up this fossil fuel we have now. I have a four year old little girl. It's time to think about the future now. Before it's to late.

mya, Obama   May 21st, 2008 12:45 am ET

Good for you OR, it's only a gimmick anyway!

different result in West Virginia   May 21st, 2008 12:43 am ET

I bet a majority of voters in WV will approve the gas tax holiday, simply because they are uneducated, blue collar, and old

Chuck, Democrats United We Stand   May 21st, 2008 12:42 am ET

I always knew Oregonians were smart enough to see through that one. This only confirms it.

same ppl=same idea. new folks = change   May 21st, 2008 12:39 am ET

thank you oregon for noticable th dirty politics clinton was trying to play on you just to get your votes.

Proud American   May 21st, 2008 12:35 am ET

Thats right a total waste of our time and money. Its like putting a band-aid on an open artery. We need real solutions not silly patch work.

HOPE! hope! HoPe!   May 21st, 2008 12:28 am ET

obama 08!

Viva Obama 08   May 21st, 2008 12:21 am ET

Yes we can. Obama/Hillary 08 for President. We need a nominee right away to compete against McCain.

Sherri   May 21st, 2008 12:17 am ET

It's great to see that the people of Oregon think! The Gas Tax Holiday is a most ridiculous idea. Thank you, Oregon!

Go Obama!

TJ   May 21st, 2008 12:17 am ET

Because people of Oregon are intelligent! Anyone can see what a dumb idea that gas tax holiday is!

Crush Rush   May 21st, 2008 12:05 am ET

They know when they are getting blackmailed by big oil.The companies need to be Regulated or Nationalized. This congess doesnt have the guts or the numbers to do it at this point.

JOHN   May 21st, 2008 12:03 am ET

SMART PEOPLE.

May   May 20th, 2008 11:57 pm ET

You all cry about someone helping you and when one does have the guts to stand up for you, you suddenly backed off and say "that is not a good idea". Yet all of you are crying about gas prices. I never see a set of dumb idiots in all my life. You all are so stupid it makes me sick. At the same time, you said you are well educated. Doesn't it make sense to give you idiots a break on gas prices while searching for a permanent solution? Or you think as usual it is a bad idea because Hillary, a woman brought it up first. You Obamabots are either stupid or you all had been hypnotized and walking around in a daze.
HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT 2008!!!!

Oregon Democrat   May 20th, 2008 11:57 pm ET

Way to go fellow Oregonians, you have seen through that political scam. Obama has done a good job at staffing expert advisers, something I wish this current administration would understand.

Chris   May 20th, 2008 11:57 pm ET

To what are they referring? What did she do to attack unfairly?

stop the madness   May 20th, 2008 11:56 pm ET

Remember these are NOT the backwooded slow gullible people of Ky & WV.

JamesAAMale   May 20th, 2008 11:53 pm ET

Thought you people were so educated. If we just put a scare to the oil investers, and start taxing them, that will send them a clear signal and drop the value of oil.

But then again, why would you college educated folks want that? You must have investments in oil, you are the very ones reaping off the backs of the hard working folks.

hrc supporter   May 20th, 2008 11:51 pm ET

her support for gas tax holiday isnt a bad idea, people go from one block to another in search for the cheapest gas that will only save them maybe 8 to 10 cents a gallon, but yet her support for gas tax is considered political pandering.

Marcia   May 20th, 2008 11:50 pm ET

Of course the idea for a gas tax holiday is foolish. In most states and federal budgets, the gas tax is specifically earmarked for maintenance and repair of roads. Where do the politicians think we will get the money for these roads? Continue raiding social security, maybe. Or perhaps, just close all roads? The people calling for a gas tax holiday are being penny-wise and dollar-foolish.

David   May 20th, 2008 11:48 pm ET

gas tax is a horrible idea. 300,000 jobs lost means atleast 200,000 homes forclosed on. Answer that question if you still want the gas tax. That on top of roads not work is the end of the end

Chris   May 20th, 2008 11:44 pm ET

Well, clearly the smarter voters are in Oregon.

James   May 20th, 2008 11:44 pm ET

They are educated. That's the difference between Ky, WV, and Oregon

mmartin arkansaw   May 20th, 2008 11:44 pm ET

of course .oregonians are smart….

The Truth   May 20th, 2008 11:40 pm ET

Because it is a gimmick and they realized it.

Democrats '08

No.Cal. for Obama   May 20th, 2008 11:32 pm ET

Thank you Oregon. Also thank you to those people of Kentucky who voted for Obama as well. I am so glad we are almost there. Again, thank you to all those who supported Sen. Obama in spite of all the negative coverage he has received from the press.

On another note. To ALL the HRC supporters who WILL NOT vote for Obama-then do what you think you need to. Obama's future is bright and if you think we will ALL rally around HRC in '2012 you are REALLY uneducated.

Dee   May 20th, 2008 11:29 pm ET

More than 75,000 people show up for a Obama speech – WOW
He wins 83% off the white vote – AMAZING !
Obama wins the Oregon primary – TERRIFIC !!
Obama gets the Democratic nominee for President – PRICELESS !!!

hillary hater   May 20th, 2008 11:28 pm ET

it was just for polotic calculation. She is a liar and deserves to be sent home

Theo In San Bruno   May 20th, 2008 11:26 pm ET

The amazing thing about America is how it is so diverse. People in Oregon are educated and have a brain when it comes to policy and the lies Hillary Clinton is feeding to the people in West Virgina and Kentucky who fall for her spin and BS doesn't work for on them.

It's a little sad how Hillary has to pander to the uneducated Americans and race-bait and they fall for it. Thank GOD Kentucky and West Virgina do not represent the majority of Americans. Almost 70% of Oregonians know the gas tax holiday is a total sham.

Thank You Oregon!!!

CA Independent Chris   May 20th, 2008 11:24 pm ET

It was never a serious proposal in the first place, just a gimmick to con ignorant, backwoods hicks. Shameful.

Daniel   May 20th, 2008 11:23 pm ET

No surprise here. They even said on CNN that the majority of the people in Oregon are well-educated. They know political pandering when they see it.
Too bad 26% of the people surveyed don't know any better……
no wonder they voted for Clinton.

Obama 08! Keeping it honest!

R. Brown   May 20th, 2008 11:20 pm ET

Smart people. A fool can see that gimmick with blinders on drunk in a blackout in the middle of traffic on I-95 in a snow storm blizzard walking on stilts carrying 4 bags of bricks by their teeth.

Chris in Va.   May 20th, 2008 11:20 pm ET

Well Senators Clinton and McCain, you have six days to enact your "Gas Tax Holiday". Either you were shamelessly pandering (lying) to the Ameriacan people or you are a miracle worker and will get it done. Which is it?

David PS   May 20th, 2008 11:19 pm ET

About Kentucky… does this mean that, as Senator Clinton said about North Carolina voters… that Kentucky voters are "just as uneducated?"

Please let me know.

Hillary 2 Victory   May 20th, 2008 11:19 pm ET

GREAT – WELL LET THEM PAY MY FEDERAL GAS TAX THEN !

THEY ARE ALL RICH YUPPIES

YOU PAY, MEANWHILE, HILLARY WILL FIGHT FOR ME

Scott C   May 20th, 2008 11:18 pm ET

That's because they are smart and unlike Kentucky actually THINK about policy rather than accept what their candidate spoon feeds them… Like that she is ahead in popular vote.

Obama is going to win…

Now and in November.

We NEED him as our next President.

kingsley   May 20th, 2008 11:18 pm ET

PANDERING those percentage that liked the idea are the non educated voters. and with a state like oregan you shouldn't expect them to be as ignorant as west virginia and Ky. they maybe white but not stupid

Accountant Guy   May 20th, 2008 11:17 pm ET

Good to see that the people of Oregon are educated enough to see through that kind of pandering.

Obama '08

David, Santa Rosa, CA   May 20th, 2008 11:17 pm ET

Of course they disagree. Oregon tends to be a more educated population and know that the gas tax holiday won't work. This idea is just bad.

Anthony N Kentucky   May 20th, 2008 11:17 pm ET

NO HILLARY NO WHITE HOUSE IN NOVEMBER

Hold ya horses OBAMA you aint going nowhere without Hillary supporters!

R Lowe   May 20th, 2008 11:16 pm ET

Oregon for Obama!

Yes we can!
