Mr Obama is doing exactly right, go ahead and begin the search for a honest, fair and trustworth person. The Clintons should not be considered.

As a Clinton supporter who is undecided about whom to vote for in the upcoming election, the VP choice is going to seriously help my vote, and I doubt that I am the only one who feels this way.

Even though many Clinton voters say they will never vote for Obama, many will come around to him. (I actually voted for him in the primary) People often ask why and how. I tell them that before Super Tuesday I was undecided and leaned toward Clinton, but there was something about Barack Obama that as a young person, you couldn't resist.

After super tuesday, he lost his luster in my eyes. I am really trying to find a reason to support Obama in the fall, but the negatives keep coming out in my eyes....maybe a VP choice will push me over the edge

Just because he holds the lead in delegates, superdelegates, states won, popular vote and is 60 delegates away from the nomination is no reason to overstep his bounds.

Additionally, he could be put in charge of build new housing for all of those poor, blue collar workers who have no intention of voting for Obama this November. Chuck R – whats left to count? by the time June rolls around, Obama will have enough delegates to have clinched the nomination. I'm not being arrogant just stating fact. With Edwards getting 15% of the vote in Florida and those delegates would likely go to Obama, we'd be looking at a near 50-50 split (50-48 for Hillary, to be exact). Even if she got all of her delegates in MI and Obama didnt get any (which I doubt anyone would see as fair), she would be 90 or so delegates short with 86 left in play.

I understand many have a deep connection with Hillary. I would be happy with either candidate but the facts are that she will be short on delegates. So, most Hillary supporters are going to have to do some soul searching. Will you vote for a candidated that shares (for the most part) your candidates ideals, or will you vote for the polar opposite and put your personal pride over your country's future?

I'm already seeing the comments that are going to come flooding in about this being presumptuous and that Obama is arrogant, etc. First of all, let's wait until the actual Obama campaign says that they are searching for a VP, not some unnamed democratic source who could be from anywhere (and be supporting any candidate). Second of all, if he is, so what? He's not shouting it to the world, obviously. He's doing it "quietly." He's not trying to shame Hillary, he's just preparing for the race as best as he can. Just because he's putting out an inquiry doesn't mean he'll have a VP in the next week. Probably the next month OR SO. This is, as someone stated above, planning ahead. He has been more than careful in all interviews I've seen with him to say that they are still in this primary race and that Clinton has waged a good campaign. He knows she has. He's not denying that. This is more of a time factor than even a win factor. If he IS going to win, he's going to have to start looking for a VP soon. If he doesn't win, then sure it's all gone to waste, but at least he was prepared to win. If he started this process at the time when Hillary finally does quit, if she does, or IF he does win, then he would seem unprepared. No, he's quietly laying down the tracks just in case. At least that's the way I see it.
And of course, the media is just looking for something to print because they need to. I'm not saying CNN is bad, just that they are a part of the media. Any lead, they follow. This is a lead, albeit by someone who may or may not actually be close to Obama's party, or actually know anything about what they are doing, but, still, it's something to report. And it will lead to much speculation and at least an hours worth of strategic discussions by someone on some news show.

IF obama picks anyone besides Hillary Clinton, I will without a doubt be voting for MCCAIN.

Nothing is stopping Hillary from launching a VP search, too, if she believes she can win. McCain has already started his, and if he names a running mate, that's a full ticket to campaign against the Democratic nominee before the Democratic primaries have even concluded. The Democrats cannot afford to sit back and wait until everyone is happy (which isn't going to happen anyway) before they start acting like contenders for the White House.

[Hillary Clinton] agreed that Michigan and Florida should be punished for moving up their primaries. Obama took his name off the ballot in deference to their agreement and the rules of the party. That he should now be punished for playing by the rules and she should be rewarded for skirting them is unconscionable.

I think she has now made it very important that Obama not ask her to be the veep. The way she is losing is so ugly, so feckless, so riddled with narcissism and pathology that this kind of person should never be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Jim Webb's background would be excellent against McCain too. Plus he seems like he'd be really good at the attach dog role the VP's play in general elections.

Mark Warner is my pick though. He's been a Governer (which is important when two Senators are running), isn't part of the 'old Washington' establishment but still has heavy military credentials, and he'll deliver a major state for Obama.

I like Richardson. He's already in the public eye, he's done amazing things in New Mexico, and he has pretty much all of the experience that Obama doesn't, which makes him an ideal candidate. Plus, you can't beat that beard.
