Bill Clinton said Saturday the nomination is still within reach for wife Hillary.

BOZEMAN, Montana (AP) – Former President Bill Clinton said Saturday that a victory by his wife in next month's Democratic primary in Montana could force party leaders to reassess her bid for the presidential nomination.

Hillary Rodham Clinton has been scrambling to close a widening delegate lead held by Barack Obama with only three contests yet to be decided.

Her husband told a crowd at Montana State University in Bozeman that Clinton victories in Montana and South Dakota on June 3 would boost her claim that she deserves the party's nomination — and could persuade key superdelegates to support her.

"She can still be nominated. Don't let anybody kid you," Clinton said as the crowd of several hundred cheered. "All these superdelegates that have said they're for this one or that one or the other, they can all flip. So you do matter."

The former president also said his wife, if elected, would turn around the nation's ailing economy, end the war in Iraq and enact universal health care.

His appearance in Montana came as Obama edges ever-closer to capturing enough delegates for the nomination.

It's so nice to see this man support his wife. Hope you are also preparing her for the inevitable Bill.

Nando   May 25th, 2008 9:41 am ET

It is ok to be considered a fool but when you open your mouth and remove all doubt is very sad.

peter   May 25th, 2008 9:42 am ET

Hillary dont go away mad just go away. you are like a nasty wart that will not dry up. we do not want you as evident by the voters. didnt you say you want our votes to count? well then look at the numbers we want Obama. go away go away go away!!!

For someone who said "But I didn't inhale" sounds like they're both doing plenty of it.

Kel from AL   May 25th, 2008 9:43 am ET

Obama is ahead in every category. This is getting annoying. I understand staying in to benefit your constituents, but Hillary you've got to know when enough is enough!

Theogracias   May 25th, 2008 9:43 am ET

What is he thinking?.. Please go away.. You have done too much for now, this is pathetic..

JA Cook   May 25th, 2008 9:45 am ET

Hillary Clinton is willing to pander (gas tax holiday), lie (sniper fire) play the race card (hard working white folks), throw the kitchen sink, move the goal posts, change the rules, use creative math, flip-flop (Michigan and Florida) and anything else she thinks will help her win the Presidency.

She exhibits a badly flawed character which makes her NOT the person I want to see elected and I cannot support her. It has nothing to do with her gender, it has everything to do with the candidate.

Supporting her solely because she is a woman would be sexist which is the most recent card she's brought into the fight. Of course, she has kept reminding us that she is the first woman with a real shot at it - isn't that sexist?

The Clinton's are now resorting to a frequent trick as well - the victim role. Everybody treats them unfairly.

New Day   May 25th, 2008 9:46 am ET

I guess it depends on what his definition of "nominated" is. C'mon super-delegates, quit hiding under the bed and cast your vote.

Canadian   May 25th, 2008 9:47 am ET

You have to admire the Clintons - they are as relentless as Don Quixote, and just about as rational. I am beginning to wonder if they have not detached from reality. It is so clear from their botched campaign that they pale in comparison to Obama when it comes to long-term thinking and execution, and have been scrambling for the past several weeks. Do Americans really want your country to be run in that same manner, especially after the disaster of George Bush?

A side bit of humor - "George Bush recently had an intelligent thought, but it very soon died of loneliness".

Kathy   May 25th, 2008 9:47 am ET

I love this….. "she can still be nominated" before a crowd of "several hundred." Suuuuuuuuure she can. After all, as Montana goes, so goes the nation?

The Clintons should spend less time dividing the party and more time packing it up and going home.

maryann   May 25th, 2008 9:47 am ET

All i have to say is I hope she wins. I just watched cnn showing Obama again in Puerto Rico dancing and later on his bus speaking about the delegates in Michigan and Flordia and how the Clinton camp is stiring this up. He is very arrogant in my opinion and if he is so sure of himself why not try to seat or have a revote. To scared I would say. I

Why should she be nominated? She is unfit for public office. Bill and Hill are both delusional psychopaths!

bill clinton is nothing but a fool and a race baiter. he has done nothing but ruin his lagacy. first, he stained monica's dress in the white house like he's stained america with his old school racist crap. i used to love the clintons.., but now, i could'nt care less what happens to them. the superdelegates should be ashamed of themselfs. they could of ended this mess month's ago but chose not to. make me think every one of them are james carville types. they deserve to lose the general election.

jenny   May 25th, 2008 9:50 am ET

Really now why does Bill and Hillary continue to go on. If she really cared about this country and the party as they say she would cede to Obama and let him build his fight agains Mc cain. But as we all see how very selfish the Clintons are ,its all about them nothing else and noe one else matters. What a shame. I will not vote for her if she is the nominee, she would have encouraged others to steal for her just like bush did against gore and look at the MESS this country is in right now. Cant some of you well meaning friends of the Clintons speak honestly to her and ask her to stop this selfishness.

Brian Knoxville, TN   May 25th, 2008 9:50 am ET

Hillary,

Your supporters know that you are the better candidate, that you will win against McCain, and that you will be the most effective as President of the United States.

Obama fans might be louder, but your supporters are more numerous. And we become more loyal to you with every day that you work for the nomination and fight to improve the lives of the American people.

HILLARY CLINTON '08

It is not only about Americans: The whole world is waiting for Obama!!!!

Hillary 2008,2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We can and will have Hillary because everyone knows that Obama can't win the crucial swing States in November but the polls all say that she can win all of these States!!!

Obama is a novice and only talk. He just wants to steal the nomination from Hillary but this is not his time, it is Hillary's time to lead us to a real victory and finally change America with her programs.

Edgar   May 25th, 2008 9:53 am ET

Bill I am with you and many Clinton loyalist!

Tammie from Florida   May 25th, 2008 9:53 am ET

Bill Clinton is Absolutly right.

Obama cannot win Florida with the Jewish voters or the Cubans.

The Obama supporters are such nasty and low life people as I
read their blogs. If they would just keep their mouths shut, Obama
and Clinton can together win the election, Obama can never do
it alone. These people that support Obama should just take a deep
breath and think what is best for this country ot the Republicians
are going to win. Obama has made many mistakes such as Rev.
Wright, the "Bitter Comment" Michelle Obama's anti american
comments and so on, and Hillary has made some mistakes,
but together they can pull this country together. Hillary could definately
win alone, but Obama cannot.

jamieque   May 25th, 2008 9:53 am ET

Sorry, Bill, but you are not living in the land known as Reality. This race has been over for over two months now and yet both you and your wife continue to think she has a chance of winning….

Excuse me but I am afraid that someone needs to wake up. Obama has played by the rules and he won fair and square. And before any of your wife's supporters say otherwise let me say, "Yes he did win fair and square!"

Enough is enough! This race is over and done and that is a fact. The only way your wife could win now is by cheating and if she cheats she loses. So like I said it is over.

CNN & NBC can take credit for electing Obama

BILL U NEED TO STOP IT…….WHEN HILLARY HAS PROBLEMS SHE BLAMES EVERYTHING ON EVERYBODY BUT HERSELF…WHEN OBAMA HAS A PROBLEM HE TAKES THE BLAME AND FIX IT ………I REALLY DO THANK HILLARY FOR STAYING IN THE RACE LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE…DECIDE FOR YOURSELF.

John K, Montreal   May 25th, 2008 9:56 am ET

Yes she can still be nominated…she is desparate enough to do anything to get it. Shifting goal posts, varying the metrics from day to day. What kind of leader does that make her? Heavens help us. I say leave her to stay in the race to January 2009 if she wants.

Bri   May 25th, 2008 9:56 am ET

Does he really think people are stupid??

Chas   May 25th, 2008 9:57 am ET

Fingers crossed that after June 3, the superdelegates throw their support to Obama and this nightmare ends. I am sick and tired of Bill and Hillary spouting nonsense, changing the rules in the middle of the game, and postponing the inevitable. They are motivated by little else than self interest, and their distorted feelings that Hillary is entitled to run. Their reputations will pay dearly for this.

Monte Brown   May 25th, 2008 9:57 am ET

Instead of listening to the people, whom have historically punted the ball back to the Republicans, the superdelegates should listen to the people who voted. The superdelegates need to give the nomination to the candidate that will definitely win in November. That cadidate is Hillary Clinton. Are the Democrats trying to win in November or are they trying to feed the egos of black people and egghead Democrats. Obama will not win in November. American people are not listening to the media who have been staunchly in favor of Obama. The haters are ruining this country. Thinking Obama will, somehow, woo people who don't want to vote for him is wishful thinking. If people don't want to vote for Obama for any reason under the sun then that is their right. The egghead latte liberals and black people can't force Obama down our throughts. We want Hillary. Come on with this nonsense. She's winning the key constituencies that will win the Democrats the White House. Stop letting these haters contradict the will of the Americans.

If Hillary Clinton is not nominated, be prepared for the Democrats to punt the ball back to the Republicans. Kerry did and so will Obama. Nominate Hillary or be prepared for President McCain. It just makes sense.

Judy, FL   May 25th, 2008 9:57 am ET

Bill you and Hillary has already reck the democratic party so hey let the people belive this and this country will be shot to hell. You Clinton's do not give up do you. Hillary do not deserve to be President, she is unstable and pathetic, liar, and most of all untrustworthy. Now if you want this country to suceed, please stop promoting Hillary for President, you both need help and fast.

JudgeJames   May 25th, 2008 9:58 am ET

Instead of being in jail where they both belong….they are instead given free world wide press and allowed to attempt the highest office in the US. What a lasting tribute to America.

Bob   May 25th, 2008 10:00 am ET

II once voted for this man, whose irresponsible behavior in the office of President showed him for what he really was; a morally corrupt politician. Unfortunately his wife lacked the courage to reject his opportunistic counsel, which likely cost her the party's nomination. At this point I will vote for renewal of both the party and the system by the only candidate who seems to understand the very fundamental changes this country will have to endure if it wants to remain relevant in the new century.

Noah   May 25th, 2008 10:00 am ET

Bill Clinton is correct. If you look at all the facts, Hillary is the strongest against McCain. The media wants us to believe this race is over, they have been since super Tuesday calling for Clinton to quit. One has to wonder why so many want Hillary out, even though she leads in the popular vote and has won states that really matter. I have read where Obama supporters say Hillary supporters can not give any reason why she should stay in. Well, she is the better candidate for one. She has had more votes cast for her than anyone in the history of the democratic party for two. The pledged delegate race is misleading at best as it does not represent the true feelings of Americans. Super Delegates are running scared, running to Obama out of fear of being labeled a racist. Facts show that many supers have been targeted in just this manner, not by the Obama campaign, but by his supporters. Super Delegates need to get a backbone and stand up for the best candidate, not fall into the trap of threats and intimindation.

Christine   May 25th, 2008 10:00 am ET

Since the just released Newsweek General Election poll has her leading McCain by 4 points, whereas Obama ties with McCain.
The Super delegates should look at that.

Dave in Albuquerque   May 25th, 2008 10:00 am ET

Isn't this the same thing he said in other states? The results there were going to be the game changers.

Marge Hibbing Mn   May 25th, 2008 10:00 am ET

Of course she can why do you think the lying insidious and whinny cat obama is accusing Hillary of "stirring up trouble". I mean after he doesn mind throwing the people of Michigan and Flordia and their votes under the bus.

He thinks the bloggers, the MSM and the jumping dancing chanting zonked out kids are the only ones who count. We all know how he stole the caucus, and the black vote has gotten him this far, so when a real Democrat wants to to put their opinion in he, as per usual, throws the blame on Hillary.

Is this the type of immature piddle paddle whiny bawling baby we want for president hell no….IF THE DNC APPOINTS OBAMA THE CANDIDATE LOOK OUT MCCain….we'll vote for a strong person, "change" the booby obama's diaper and put him to bed.

FEDUP   May 25th, 2008 10:01 am ET

Come on Montana you can make the difference..If Obama is the nominee we will lose in November. Unless allof us who want Hillary write her name on our ballots..We cn do it ,Yes we can..

brad   May 25th, 2008 10:01 am ET

oh God. I think I am officially worn out. I am not a Clinton supporter but man, she sure is no quitter. But is this a good thing or not? We will know soon the repercussion of her actions. For those Clinton supporters thinking of going to McCain. I really hope you think through. I like McCain's thoughts in some areas but overall his policy doesn't suggest any real change. I think but Obama and Clinton represent needed actions more so. So, whoever gets it, I rather give it to someone who, I hope, takes needed action.

dwho   May 25th, 2008 10:01 am ET

There is no way a man can turn against himself. This is what Bill Clinton is doing. The only way Hillary can win the nomination is by foul play. Unless, all of what Obama has accomplished so far are all taken away from him then Hillary will win. No campaign debt, More money raised. more states won. Well organized campaign. Superdelegates lead. Bill thinks that people are against his wife. But the facts are.
Mis-managed campaign
19,5 million in debt
one time superdelegate lead but now down in lead.
less number of states won. etc.

Allison Marie   May 25th, 2008 10:01 am ET

Yes, and that's what Florida & Michigan is praying for…………we don't need the weaker candidate forced on us.

I've votes for both Dems and GOP candidates in the past and I can't help but like Bill Clinton. Not too happy with him with the whole monica mess but outside of that, he is terrific. I like a man who speaks his mind and not try to dress his words all of the time. In any case, HIllary's got my vote if she is nominated but if she is not nominated…………..my vote is safe and sound for senator Mccain. I am one of those voters who is big on experience……its all very logical. Can you really have good change without experience? Do people hire a medical student to operate on their heart or an experienced surgeon? I do believe experience is the big contentious factor in this election…even though the poll is not showing that it is. The idea that polls are showing most americans wanting change over experience is ludicrous………..the question is way too vague to draw any substantial meaning out of. Hillary or Mccain 08…..I'm neither red or blue this year………i'm all about this country and the welfare of its people.

What about the peoples vote that WANTS Obama to be nominee. Of course she's not listening to them because she can't accept the fact she lost.

I think Bill is afraid deep down to tell Hillary the primary was already lost. I can empathize with Bill, he probably also nutured similar sentiment like Hillary (that the democratic belonged to the Clintons) and that somehow democratic voters and superdelegates would wake up from their deep slumber and ignore all the rules and throw the nomination on Hillary's laps. Bill, as you know, the democratic have rules; and Hillary is so far behind on all counts (of the rule.) There's another election in 2012…

Joe   May 25th, 2008 10:06 am ET

Well its really getting funny now. Hillary could have cared less about the upper midwest or small states that didn't matter. Now she sends Bill to Montana to say she can still win. Look out interns at that college. Hillary should realize that this race is over and no armtwisting or calling in markers is going to change that.

Delusional! I think dementia is setting in. If his wife does not win these 2 states, they will again change their script. They will set another bar to make her appear to be winning.

A true leader has the wisdom to know when to quit and quit gracefully. Unfortunately, both of them are not genuine leaders.

They want to perpetuate conjugal dictatorship.

I really do not care who will win, or who can win. Right now, I look at my bills, my children, am thinking about how I am going to feed them.

One thing is we are really sick and tired that people said things but did not deliver their promises. Our energy problem has been loooong, since 70′. If Clinton family really care our lives, why couldn't they do it when they were in the White House, they got a 16 years time frame to fix this problem, but nothing they have delivered !

DAN   May 25th, 2008 10:07 am ET

As the only democrat to win two terms to the white house since the 1940's super delegates should listen carefully to president Clinton.. Obama gives a great prepared speech but he really doesn't have what it takes to be president. It looks like its over for Obama, he hasn't really won much since Feb. If he was the one he would have clinch it by now. Hillary will close the delegate count and will have won more votes than any other candidate in US history. McCain will be the second choice of many if Hillary doesn't win. Facts are a b–ch.

Cathy from Baltimore, MD   May 25th, 2008 10:08 am ET

This is exactly like being held hostage on a runaway train. When will the Clintons stop waging this losing battle against us? How self-absorbed and egotistic they are. They clearly have no respect for the rights of Americans who play by the rules. We are being forced to suffer through this — to sit and watch, and pretend the Emperor has clothes! Please, Al Gore … somebody … where are you?

Sean   May 25th, 2008 10:08 am ET

So now Montana and SD are key states? Even is she does win those by some chance, it doesn't change anything. Obama will still have won more states. He'll still have the popular vote, delegate, and superdelegate lead. So why, Bill, are these two key states in this election?

Allen in North Carolina   May 25th, 2008 10:08 am ET

Wow! He sure is desperate to see her in the white House. At least he did not reference RFK Jr in his argument for her. Bill - remember the days when you were young and you were running for the Presidency? Think back, you will remember that your message too was one of hope and change. Put yourself in Sen Obama's shoes. He is carrying the same message, except this time the change he is referring to - includes Sen Clinton! Give the youth a chance, give a young couple like the Obamas a historic opportunity to be the First Couple.

You and Hillary have had your chance. Eight glorious years - you were young, powerful, energetic, your daughter grew up in the White House.

Now be gracious and support the Obamas.

Unshrub   May 25th, 2008 10:09 am ET

Bill Clinton has overlooked one small detail. People are getting tired of Hillary and Bill and their constant whinning about the rules, that is why the polls show more people are having a negative attitude towards her.

reginald kirkpatrick   May 25th, 2008 10:09 am ET

whatever bill is smoking he should stop.

SlimSista   May 25th, 2008 10:10 am ET

Please Bill with the rhetoric….Obama is winning on all fronts..why do you the Clintons are still trying to steal the will of the people away. Stop begging for votes…that's what you sound like…"please, please vote for Hillary so she can save face"…pitiful…

I was a supporter of HRC until I started listening to the views and intellect of Obama…He soes seem to want to bring about change…that's positive….Hillary started getting nasty and divisive, making hard feelings between the ethnic groups….Negative campaigning….

The issue about MI & FL is an argument, that should not even be an issue at all. HRC agreed back in 2007 as with Obama & Edwards to respect the rules of the DNC…Now that she is losing then it's the voters of those states being desfranchised…And the supporters of HRC is blaming the Obama campaign the the reason why FL & MI is not being counted…..That is a completely un-true!!!! Obama has been a complete gentleman during this campaign process….

Instead of negative energy, we should be focusing on the issues…the bringing back of America and it's values….we can not be divided by race as we are all people first….americans second….

May God Bless and Protect Obama, as I was very shocked the comment that HRC made in reference to RFK….

Obama '08

I fee it is very "hateful" of HRC to continue with this "battle" and concede with grace…

Brett from Austin, TX   May 25th, 2008 10:11 am ET

Again, the more Obama supporters denegrate Sen. Clinton with incindiary comments, the more her supporters WILL NOT VOTE FOR MR. OBAMA come November. And if you think we are going to forger personal attacks, you have another thing coming to you. And if you think you can win in November without us, you're in for a rude awakening…

…I'd come off my high horse really quick if I were you.

David   May 25th, 2008 10:11 am ET

Bill and Hillary Clinton should just go and enjoy there 109 million minus 20million in debt voor de election campaign.

This is where good judgement comes, she almost beat Obama when he said things about bitter people, but he believed her on he word.

You can't be a president of America if you don't believe in the rule of law. By saying all Michigan and Florida delegates should be seated according to the election result in februay is saying the rules don't matter.
It means she still can't make a good judgement like in the case of Iraq war.

ED   May 25th, 2008 10:12 am ET

Yes and I can win the PowerBall Lotto too. Go away Clintons the both of you !

Juanita   May 25th, 2008 10:13 am ET

Bill seems intent on trashing his legacy. Congratulations, work well done. We now know you're as deceitful as your wife. The only reason Hillary is still "running" is to try to raise the money that she is personally in the hole for. Those supporters are being duped. Billary knows she can't win and for that they should be ashamed.

Brenda   May 25th, 2008 10:13 am ET

Bill Clinton wants another shot at the White House so badly that HE will do whatever to attempt to get Hillary Clinton nominated. I would not be surprised if HE were not after the recent comments that Hillary made regarding the Kennedy guy losing his life in June … I will not even say that word, but is IT A HINT THAT THE CLINTONs WERE SENDING TO SOME ONE TO CAUSE OBAMA HARM?

Obama for President!

Garth   May 25th, 2008 10:13 am ET

What rules? I guess there are rules and then there are Hillary rules. I don't see why she would be more electable. I see the repubs have more dirt on her than on Barack. I know too many Republicans that are now Obamacans because he offered a ray of sunshine.

I don't see where any of these candidates has ever negotiated a treaty, declared war, sent troops into battle and see them come home in a bag, ever negotiated with Congress or ever had to deal with an international crisis. Bill isn't going to be at the White house to help Hillary. He's going to be in New York getting all he can. And she wants everything her way and doesn't understand the word negotiation. McCain is just like Bush and he will want to bully everyone into doing what we think is right. Only Obama is level-headed enough to hear what advisors tell him and make a real Decision.

mike k   May 25th, 2008 10:13 am ET

Give it up, Bill - Don't fool YOURSELF - We're not fooled any more - we know you want all that money back and can only raise it by acting like this is still a race. Pathetic!

David Shine   May 25th, 2008 10:14 am ET

It's interesting to now look at the Clinton years with Bill and Hillary's current behaviour in mind. There were many scandals and they were all pinned to a 'vast right wing conspiracy'. Sad thing is, I bought it hook, line and sinker. The truth is, there were vicious power struggles, mismanaged teams and sinking funds, that was what was going on.

Susana, Sacramento   May 25th, 2008 10:14 am ET

Hillary can still win if she drops out. What once was an admirable trait of hers has made her look silly and is dividing the party the more and more this drama unfolds.

She is crying foul over everything, claiming she is a victim of sexism. I guess most voters are sexist since they didn't vote for her. Her desperate twitches as she tries to live up to her Rocky image is damaging her reputation and the parties.

I seriously doubt when Obama does make the nomination that she will be sincere in any attempts to support him. I think the Superdelegates have no backbone even when America has voted.

Jake, Montana   May 25th, 2008 10:14 am ET

Superdelegates operate on winning numbers as we have seen. Not
Hillary's claim that she "deserves" the party's nomination. Bill is right
about one thing though. They can all flip, since so far most of Hillary's superdelegates have flipped for Senator Obama.

Yes We Can.

Darryl M. Arlington TX   May 25th, 2008 10:14 am ET

Bill Clinton make it his point ot lie to the American People just as he did when talking about Monica Lewinski. Does this man ever gives up?

The Clinton are bold face twisters of the truth. More of his cabinet member has be sent ot prison or killed than any othe president cabinet. The Clinton are still on trail with the Peter Paul verse Clinton FEC Fraud case and why isn't the MEDIA talking about this? This raises questions…

We can not believe anymore of the Clintons lies.. Why is she planing on killing Senator Obama to be elected? Always talking about the death of RFK as a reminder of what could happen when a man of promise and hope is elected?

Why Hillary, Why??????

wilfred   May 25th, 2008 10:14 am ET

Bill , Bill , Bill what an idiot and all you democrats made him president and he did a good job of destroying the military in th 90's. He pretty much destroyed his wifes chances by his big mouth. Can we just get him entrenched as the HEADmaster at a girls academy and shut him up

John in AL   May 25th, 2008 10:14 am ET

Florida and Michigan will be the deciding factors. There's no way the Rules Committee is going to give her all the delegates from Michigan. Obama went along with the DNC and removed his name from the ballot. Hillary did not.

yen   May 25th, 2008 10:15 am ET

Yes, they have to try in any.And Mr.Clinton is "demanding" that she has to win and she will win. His unreasonable ways makes it harder for her in getting the number of votes she needs and without them there is no winning. The American people know what they want. And this time it is not Hillary> They are tired of Hill and Bill.

William, CA.   May 25th, 2008 10:15 am ET

When will this country wake up? haven't "these Clintons" ,done enough, to divide this country, already. Bill, you told us, that you didn't have sex with "that" woman, then you said, you did; because you could….which one is it now? Enough of the three of you, get a Real job or go back to being " lawyers"……..Enough! Next ,basket case!….

Anthony   May 25th, 2008 10:15 am ET

Not matter how people get excited about "Hope", "We can do it", "Change" it is all bull. You see the ones that change our country are Senators and Representatives" They make the law. The Constitution sets that up. Lobbyists do often dictate what they want to see into "Law" so they can reap the profits. It is that simply. If we the people want to change then we get rid of all Senators and Representatives and do away with parties. And only have "Americans" running for "American Policies". It is that simply. Why can't we get it. I guess we would rather dance to change.

The math neither one will reach the finish line. IF she wins the popular vote she has a good argument. She will have received more vote and won the key states.

Bill Depp   May 25th, 2008 10:19 am ET

All the Obama people can say is Bill is a race baiter….what a joke! Hillary is the better candidate regardless of the math and that is what super delegates were made for. There is a serious question among white voters about his judgment…I consider myself a moderate and could care less about Obama's color but I do care about his character and either 1.)he went to church to further his political career,2.) he actually believes this crap, or 3.)he sat there 20 years and didn't listen to his own preacher….any of these scenarios shows a lack of character and good judgment. I also think his use of race against Clinton is and was disingenuous. You cannot have it both ways. Obama preaches a new politics…..nothing new about this crap. Obama has been the one throwing the race card and he will not win because of it. He just does not have what it takes…experience and good judgment.

Bluehog   May 25th, 2008 10:19 am ET

The Democratic Senate and Congress are misleading the American People. There is no valid economic reason to reject the free trade agreement with Columbia. Colombia's exports already enter the U.S. market duty-free under the 1991 Andean Trade Preference Act. But most U.S. exports to Colombia face big tariffs; the agreement would reduce these to zero; therefore it has no impact on imports, but will significantly help our exports. Why are the Democrats opposing it? Why isn’t CNN taking them to task over this?

LaTeef , Alpharetta GA   May 25th, 2008 10:21 am ET

Bill & Hillary needs to realized that it's no longer possible for her to win this '08 nomination . Mr. President, please tell Hillary to calm down and support Obama to be our next president. If obama win, the country win. This country do not need Mcain or another right wing republican like Bush in the white house again. Hillary, you are a good senator for NY and good former first lady. Most people will respect you more if you quit now .

I hope she retires now at the age of 65.

Sorry Bill, Hillary has almost no chance of grabbing the prize that she thinks belongs to her because your inheritance of the nomination 16 years ago.

WHERE THE HELL ARE THOSE PEOPLE THEY CALL "SUPER" WHO ARE HIDING IN A CLOSET AND LETTING THE CLINTONS RUIN THIS ELECTION—maybe it is like NAFTA: we are against it but we make millions because of it–so screw you and your job opportunity we are making $100,000,000 off all this. wow.

Except a slight problem Bill. A recent poll out of MT shows Obama leading Clinton by over 20 points. Obama also took ND, as well as all the states surrounding SD, by large margins. He tends to outperform polls in the northwest mountain and great plains states, so good luck turning that one around.

Sharon   May 25th, 2008 10:22 am ET

Hope, the democrats will understand Americans will never elect someone that have been tolerating hate for 20 years. However, Edwards etc. are supporting Obama so that they do not lose their black votes when they need it, and Obama's failure will keep Edwards' hope for 2012 alive. Self-centered democrats do not care for struggling American families with no health-care, no home, and no hope..

It seems to be my destination to get "lost in moderation" , however I will never give up.
My only questions are:
1.) Does anybody trust a former President (and his wife) who was lying during the time he was POTUS (remember Monika)?
2.) Does anybody trust a potential nominee (HRC) who has to excuse her remarks once a week?
3.) Does anybody trust a woman who is $ 20 million in debt and is therefore not prepared to leave the race? Resp. "would be capable to
"turn around the nations ailing economy"?
4.) Does anybody trust a candidate who is loosing face time after time?
Think, that my comments or questions are too straight forward in order to "survive" any kind of moderation

Bill.. get a grip dude !
The ONLY way your wife can get the nomination is if she STEALS it.
Would'nt that be great for the Democratic Party.
Considering the track record of the Clintons, especially during this campaign.. i would put NOTHING past them.
I am Canadian and i am just amazed the Democratic Party is letting this farce go as long as it has.
There is no possible way she can win this nomination. The math does not support it.

I agree with Henry. Bill: Do The Math. It is time for the Clintons to pack their bags and go home. They have lost the respect of so many people by their negative attitude, lies and the "anything to win" attitude. Hillary put up a good fight, but now is resorting to gutter tactics. It won't wash. Senator Obama is the better candidate and will the nomination and move on to become the next President of the United States.

Obama also took a pledged delegate from Clinton at Alaska's Democratic party convention Saturday - according to AP.

Can the Clintons be truthful for once to themselves?

j, gardner   May 25th, 2008 10:23 am ET

You must not understand what is at steak here is it not about some person issues from the past!!! it is about the future of this country…. And so you understand superdelegates can change there vote and at the convention after the first vote SO CAN ALL the Other Delegates just like superdelegates, they will All have the same power!!!
So in fact either candidate can win the this election as nominee for the Democratic Presidential Candidate.

Post what Bill's score was back in June/92

Compare it to Hillary score June/2008

Was he loosing by 50 or less points
On the other hand, was he loosing by 10 or less

Hillary is loosing by more then 100 + points.
It is impossible for her to catch up, unless they "Pressure the Supers"

Now I see why Hillary is under so much stress, Its Bill Clinton, putting that kind of pressure on her!

Now I see why Hillary is staring to "Misspeak", It's Bill Clinton that is pressuring her. Give her a Break Bill, Goodness, are you trying to cause her to have a Stroke, or some other illness. My God, this woman is worn out! I will be Praying for Hillary.

We love you Hillary, however, Bill is putting way to much pressure on you.

I know that Hillary is really a good person, kind, smart and has the knowledge to run this country; however, it is not her time.
We must come together! Bill needs to relax, take Hillary on a nice vacation.
All this fighting is a result of Bill Clinton.!
It is not his election, its Hillary's
I love you Hillary, however, it is time to give it a rest and call this contest over. Quit while people still love you for you.

No superdelegate is going to force Sen. Clinton on a country that voted for Sen. Obama. It would kill their own political lives, and destroy the Democratic party. This is just more Clinton desperation at work. Montana and South Dakota voters, don't be fooled. This can all go away if you'll just say no to Sen. Clinton. You can close the deal on this whole mess. One last item…the Clintons like to ask why Sen. Obama can't close the deal. The real question is why Sen. Clinton who was heavily favored to win last year, couldn't close the deal on Sen. Obama.

Vote Obama!

TYSPOCK , COLUMBIA, MD   May 25th, 2008 10:25 am ET

He is correct, if we put the best interest of our nation first, Hillary would be our nominee. I think what would happen if we chose a nominee, who is less likely to win the swing states than we would end up with McCain - and McCain would continue along the bush path of self-destruction of our nation. Given our economy, gas prices, 2 wars etc etc we have got to chose the best fit for dealing with these conditions. If we chose wrong than all those who could have made a difference will have their share of the responsibility !

Karen   May 25th, 2008 10:25 am ET

This man is as bad as his wife. The sooner they are off the stage the better for everyone. It's more than about time the Super Delegates ended this process.

Arthur   May 25th, 2008 10:25 am ET

Superdelegates can change their minds as to who they support, so Bill is right, Hillary could win. However, the I think the whole concept of Superdelegates is NOT very democratic at all. It basically give the voters the big middle finger regardless of regular delegate or popular vote outcome…

mary   May 25th, 2008 10:25 am ET

It's highly unlikely and Bill Clinton knows it. But then, he's never let the truth get in his way before. If Hillary Clinton wins 100% of the remaining pledged delegates in the three remaing contests (including Montana) and Barack Obama gets 0% (not going to happen), she would still need nearly 75% of the superdelegates to choose her over her rival. I tried this on a delegate tracker yesterday. That just isn't going to happen.

Kathleen, Sioux Falls   May 25th, 2008 10:25 am ET

Senator Obama will win Montana, South Dakota and Puerto Rico because once he visits places, voters actually get to know and like him.
Hillary is done because she is no longer in her element of mostly
ignorant, racist (WV & KY) and gullible voter territories.

Democrats 08.

Ken Austin, TX   May 25th, 2008 10:25 am ET

I thought Hillary's claim was that she could carry the "swing states". Now that the swing states didn't "swing" her a nomination, she is now depending on South Dakota and Montana. Now all of a sudden, those are the ONLY two states that matter now. Why should she be granted the nomination because of a win in those two states? There are nothing special about those two states. Besides, this is a contest that included 50 states, plus Guam and Puerto Rico, which Barack has won 33 of the 51 contests. A win in both South Dakota and Montana will not, and should not, grant her a nomination. And that's just the bottom line.

You put up a fierce race Hillary, but you must face reality. With all honesty, I think you should seek the Governor of New York's position.

Anna   May 25th, 2008 10:25 am ET

CNN
Why does your delegate counter have Nebraska and Washington as yet to vote.
Obama won the Nebraska caucus and took every county in WA.
I did the math. At this time it is very much against her. She would have to pull off landslide victories in all remaining states and get over 90% of remaining superdelegates to support her (not likely after the Kennedy remark).

Gringo   May 25th, 2008 10:26 am ET

No, she not going to win. It's a lot easier to play the sexist card than the race card. Hillary is the best one for the job. None of you Obamanistas can tell me one thing that he has ACTUALLY done so far to deserve the presidency except wild promises.

You " Empty Suit and No Substance" backers need to be careful what you wish for though. You might just get it. The far left socialists dream team.

I'm NOT ASHAMED of Bill Clinton!! Go back and check the records. When Bill Clinton was in office, the U.S. was OUT OF DEBT; we even had a surplus; jobs were plentiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What does Obama know? How can 2 years of office qualify him to make all these proposed changes????????? If Obama is elected, you're going to see a some sad, terrible years ahead of the U.S. Words are cheap; lots of people give motivational speeches….even preachers!!!!!!!! But, what does it all say?? Absolutely NOTHING!!!!!!! Go Bill and Hillary!!!!!! We love you!!!!!!!!!!!!

El Viejo   May 25th, 2008 10:26 am ET

While Hillary could indeed still be nominated, to do so would be to invalidate the votes of those who believe that Obama is the better-qualified candidate. The justification for ignoring these votes seems to be the claim that Obama supporters have been "misled", are fundamentally incapable of good judgement, are "too young" to appreciate Obama's "inexperience," or are "sexists." In other words, only the votes of Hillary supporters should count because supporting anyone else is evidence of poor judgment.

MI Women 4 Obama!   May 25th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Bill…she can not win becuase America doesn't want her!

Bill's comment that she "deserves" to win further goes to show that the Clinton's (both of them) FEEL entitled. Bill goes on to say that his wife, if elected, would turn around the nation's ailing economy….Hillary can't even keep her own campain out of dept! What's she going to do spend her own millions saving the country. And lastly, Hillary's had 30 + years to fix health care…hasn't done it yet, don't expect her to in the future either.

Hillary is desperate and it shows….she's not fooling America anymore.

Give it up Clinton's….not this time, not this year, actually - not ever! Your dynasty is over.

The one thing Hillary is doing a suberb job at is lieing, ranting and raving, and she's really working hard to destroy the Democrat chances in November.

It`s strange that the Clintons are hoping that something could happen in june to the front-runner so that she could quietly remain the only candidate. Its no coinsidence that Huckebee already saw Obama ducking for cover from a hitman. The American people should asked these two, whose base are mostly racist.Do they know more about a hitman. How on earth would some one be staying in a race just cause a candidate was killed in june?So if Bob Kennedy was killed in may would she have dropped out?Why is nobody asking the stuff question?

Les-Wa   May 25th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Hillary will be the nominee and 44th President. People don't understand its NOT the math but the MAP. Since March, her opponent is on the DECLINE while she is going UP! UP! There's a "buyer's remorse" going on now about Obama; many people that voted for him before WRIGHT, AYERS, FARRAKHAN, NEW BLACK PANTHERS, HAMAS and other UNSAVORY characters which have close affiliation with him become KNOWN to the PUBLIC. His BITTER COMMENT and calling middle America BIGOTS doesn't bode well with the people. Obama has been losing heavily in SWING STATES, a MUST WIN for the Democratic Party in general election. He's winning in republican CONTROLLED states and will remain Republican for many years to come. The biggest INSULT for Obama is losing Indiana, a neighboring state of Illinois, they must have known something about Obama, Hillary won the state supposedly his for the taking in spite of the fact he OUTSPENT her 3 to 1 in that state.

I DO NOT TRUST OBAMA!!!!

Western Voter   May 25th, 2008 10:27 am ET

The delusion is not the fault of the Clintons…it IS the fault of the so-called superdelegates who for whatever reason do not announce their choice and get this thing over. Hey, K Williams, first get spell check and then "hooked on phonics" because you can learn a lot by just reading! I guess no child left behind should have been used in your school district.

As for Bill … his legacy is intact. He has nothing to worry about. Shall we remember the escapades of our dear LOVED/revered JFK who had more public affairs with womens while in the White House than Bill could ever had wanted?! Bill with Monica was just a blip that was blown up because of the Republicans.

Hmmm, the Republicans making a huge issue out of something little (yes, Bill did lie about it but he should never of been put in that position since it was nothing but theatrics by Starr and his team once they realized they had nothing). Barack pay attention and clean out your closet(s) now cause a tiny piece of dust will make a huge mess.

Bill does have a point. A point that many in the media and the party have been thinking about otherwise they would not be pushing for her to leave the race. Think about it, K Williams, the democrats love and hate Hillary but adore Barack because he is loved, a good man but is also something else that NONE of us are allowed to mention. And 1/2 white.

OBAMA 08/12

sameera, nigeria   May 25th, 2008 10:27 am ET

this is soo boring now, it is impossible to get the nomination at this stage, get over it billary, even though i respect hillary for staying in the race because after all everyone's voice should be heard but at the same time bill just seems to do more damage to her as soon as he opens his mouth. the superdelegates are the casue of all this confusion, MAKE UP YOUR MINDS ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!! if hillary was the front-runner this would have been over a long time ago, its not fair that they want to destroy the democratic party based on selfish interests…

obama shall bring the world together and make it a better place i am in full support that he wants to sit and talk with the cubans and iranians, its wise of him. the only way to achieve goals with stubborn people is actually talking to them instead of alienating them, and america needs to stop being blatantly biased to isreal. it just keeps bringing more problems because no matter what the middle east are not going to reconcile with isreal if they blatanly know all the so-called peace talks are by the us government looks out for isreals interest not for the middle-east as a whole.

OBAMA 08′

HATE, HATE, HATE, BIAS, BIAS, BIAS - THIS IS WHAT THE MEDIA, OBAMA, AND OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE FULL OF. THE MEDIA WAS TOTALLY UNFAIR TO HILLARY AND MADE OBAMA A KING. SO MUCH FOR HISTORY. OBAMA DID NOT GET MY VOTE AND NEVER WILL. NOTHING HAS BEEN FAIR IN THIS WHOLE PROCESS. AMEN.

Danielle   May 25th, 2008 10:27 am ET

but the problem is, she CAN'T still be nominated. she would need to pull off 80/20 wins in each COUNTY to get close to Obama's lead. Sorry billary, but it's just not in the cards for you this time around!

HRC IS DESTROYING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY....   May 25th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Not because she stayed in the race so long, that was the right thing to do. But now, because she refuses to bow out gracefully.

Tony, Enterprise, Alabama   May 25th, 2008 10:28 am ET

Yes, Montana, South Dakota and Puerto Rico matter.

And so does the fact that Hillary Clinton has won all the major states required to win the election in November! Because the Democratic Party has decided to run the craziest primary season in history; and the uber-Liberals and biased press have so blatantly suported Obama-does not mean he wins in November.

Obama cannot win in November, and I am one Democrat that knows why, BECAUSE HE IS TOO LIBERAL! Americans do not, and never have elected a TRUE Liberal to the White House and it isn't going to happen this time either.

Kennedy was a moderate, LBJ was a moderate, Carter ran as a moderate (but turned out Liberal), Clinton was a moderate, and Hillary Clinton is running as a moderate-she can win.

And this business of Party uber-alles is just a bunch of crap. How about the good of the Republic uber-alles?

Obama cannot win! I am voting for Clinton in November, whether she wins the nomination or not!

This is such as tragic example of an extremely selfish and unrealistically excessive desire for power. What a shame : (

Come on Montana, South Dakota, get your votes out for Barack Obama! Let's seal it then heal it! Be kind bloggers and do not add to divisiveness. Today is Sunday and many of us will be heading off to church. We are all children of one God.

CNN,

Clinton complains about the media "sliming" her about sexism!

My first question:

Why does your Media pundit in his interview right now, (I am watching this telecast at this moment) is he interviewing three women and the male is not represented?

Second question:

Why is Hillary whining and complaining about sliming and sexism.

Please cnn, give me a break! Hillary has used the racist , and gender card over and over and still over again, if she did not start this nonsense, I doubt very much that people would be so disgusted with her. "What IS SAUCE FOR THE GOOSE IS SAUCE FOR THEGANDER TOO" Tell Hillary to get a life! "WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND"

It seems to me that Hillary is constantly whining, It is okay for her and her husband to be constantly making snide remarks about Black this and white this and poor this and they constantly go on!

By the way CNN tell Carol Costello that she should stop spouting off about Michelle Obama. Yes she is stumping for her husband, but so too is Bill Clinton, and so is Little Girl Chelsea! I don't expect to see this comment posted, but that is okay, at least someone has read it, and this person is probably so prejudiced that this comment has no chance of seeing the light of the blog.

Nothing and no one can change the "fact" that Hillary is forever whining and complaining about one thing or another, if it is not sexism, it is rules, or it is racism, it never ends.

Hillary supporters: You all state you will vote for McCain come November if Obama is the nominee. You state "experience" is your reason. What experience did Bill have before becoming President? None. Had he even been President before 1992? No. Has Hillary ever been President? No. I will admit, she has been in the White House, but that doesn't give her the "experience". What Obama offers us all is an opportunity to unite as a country, take responsibility for making decisions, and "We the people…" will turn our country around. A vote for McCain is a vote for the same. Because of your bitterness that Hillary isn't winning or you are a racist against someone due to the color of their skin (which BTW…he is also half white) you are acting extremely childish and are willing to have another 4 years of the same. We teach our children to not act petty…and to accept defeat without throwing a temper tantrum…and we teach our children to
