PENUELAS, Puerto Rico (CNN) – Campaigning in Puerto Rico on Sunday, Hillary Clinton was a great distance from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the scene of her comment about Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination that sparked a media furor.

Her swing through sunny Puerto Rico was a vacation from the many political distractions on the mainland — questions not only about the assassination remark but also her dwindling chances to secure the Democratic nomination. Morning talk shows discussed the fallout from Friday's controversy and pored over a New York Daily News op-ed written by Clinton outlining her reasons for staying the race, but the candidate was far away, soaking up sunlight and adoration from hundreds of supporters in towns on the western part of the island.

In Puerto Rico, her speeches have been abbreviated but cheery, devoid of political sniping. Clinton herself has been upbeat.

At an evangelical church in the town of Hormigueros, Clinton took her place Sunday morning among the congregation and gently swayed to music as dancers waved ribbons in the air. It was the beginning of a marathon day featuring five separate campaign stops.

“It is in the spirit of our Lord and Savior that I come today to thank you for letting me spend this time with you,” she told the church-goers. “To feel the spirit in this beautiful church. And to see a worship service that includes the whole person, making joyful noises and dancing in praise. I feel blessed.”

Her speech at the church was tailored purely to Puerto Rican issues, as she pledged to clean up former Navy testing ranges in Vieques and promised to resolve the question of the island’s “status” by the end of her first term.

She then changed into a pink floral-patterned shirt and traveled southward to the immaculate seaside in the town of Boqueron, jammed with beach-going families who swarmed the senator as she walked along the beach, camera crews trailing. There were handshakes and embraces for shirtless men and bikini-clad women alike.

After that, it was on to the small town of Penuelas, where Clinton ate a leisurely lunch of rice and beans in the shade at Boquamar Restaurant, perched on a breezy blue bay. Clinton dined with staffers and New York Rep. Anthony Weiner, who had accompanied the campaign to Puerto Rico.

She gave remarks after lunch (still in the floral shirt) to a small crowd gathered in a dirt road outside the restaurant, using a translator throughout. Though she has avoided doing so during this trip, Clinton ventured gingerly into horserace politics, challenging Barack Obama to a debate sponsored by Univision.

“I accept that invitation, anytime, anywhere,” she declared. “That is the best way for the people of Puerto Rico to have their questions asked and answered and for the rest of the United States to learn more about Puerto Rico.”

Clinton soon departed and her motorcade headed east through the mountains in the direction of greater San Juan, where she had two more events planned for Sunday evening. She will also spend Memorial Day in Puerto Rico with three campaign stops, before returning to the mainland on Monday night.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, she makes return visits to Montana and South Dakota.

This woman is sick…….her Supporters, Campaign Flunkies and let's not forget her stupid husband!!!! Should be put into STRAIGHT JACKETS @ John George Mental Hospital and never be seen again!!!!!

Voter   May 25th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

I can't imagine why Hillary Clinton should campaign for Barack, let alone settle for VP. So many people seem to expect one or both of these to happen. She owes B. O. nothing. Maybe she'll do it so Howard Dean can save face. I say if she withdraws, she should take the summer off.

He's got all kinds of money and followers – let them do it. They would probably howl if Hillary showed up in their midst to campaign for B. O. anyway. Why go through such nonsense?

HC supporters will or won't go to the polls and vote for B.O. if they vote at all. She can make a little speech somewhere telling them to vote for B.O., so the reporters have something to report.

I see her running the Senate or perhaps a Supreme Court appointment. The Supremes are a pretty dull lot to spend years with, though. She's a brilliant woman, and we'll all benefit from whatever her choice might be.

I do giggle to think of B. O. with Bill Clinton breathing down his neck day after day. He sure needs Bill and his brain more than Bill needs him!

Cooper   May 25th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

I really respect Hillary Clinton as a woman, and I can understand her not conceeding until Obama reaches the required amount. I just don't understand her – blaming Obama for inflaming the RK comment when I never heard anything inflamatory come from him or his camp about it. Blaming Obama for the mess with FL and MI. Citizens of those states should blame their officials. They were the ones who broke the rules foolishly. How is that Obama's fault? I'm also concerned about her ability to run the country based on how her capaign has been run. Obama's campaign has been positive and fiscally responsible. That is what this country needs. I have no doubt that Obama beat McCain. He looks tired and old and only has war and defense to focus on. I know angry Democrats are saying they will, but when it comes time who on earth is going to push the button for that guy? Do you really want to look at him on your wide-screen high-def tv for 4 years?

Sam, SD   May 25th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

The only reason That Hillary is in the race is hoping that something bad happen to your competition. Well if that's the Clinton's version of "Hope" count me out!

Eric in New York   May 25th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

A couple of weeks ago I switched my support to Obama in hopes that he will at least choose Hillary as his runningmate. But deep down I am still hoping for her to stage a comeback. Puerto Rico may be her chance if she scores a wide-margin of victory.

Jim   May 25th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Yeah, I suppose I'd be upbeat too, if I were just as completely delusional and was able to take what amounts to a free vacation thanks to my clueless donors.

I think she looks nice in that shirt, but I am wondering why it was even mentioned? Do they mention the male candidates wardrobes?

I'd love to see Obama agree to debate her. I've only seen a few one on one debates with them and I'd like to see how well he holds up without stammering. Although, they are big on the Sinclair story there so maybe Obama won't want to open himself up to those questions.

MA from La   May 25th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

No matter the results Hillary made me proud to be an American! I appreciate all that she and President Clinton do and have done for this country! This may be a good time either for the Democratic party to split and/or create another one more closely aligned to the moderate voter who does not want to become a Replublican. If Hillary decided to run as a moderate democrat I for me would certainly follow her and vote for her.

Concerned Canadian   May 25th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Invitation for a debate ? Of course Barack Hussein Obama won't accept the invitation. He's hasn't beat Hillary Clinton to date at any face to face debate. He's scared. Doesn't care about reaching to people now.

He's busy bribing , I'm mean bustling support to get more superdelegates to support him. Sneaky guy.

Just read about the unhappy blacks in New York. Bill Clinton should move his office out of Harlem. He put Harlem back on the map, not because it was attractive real estate at the time, but, rather, due to his lifetime commitment to racial justice.

He probably doesn't want to be there now any more than they want him. Oh, and Al Sharpton scolding Hillary to "watch her words." Look who's talking! Remember Tawana Brawley? I do. And Jesse Jackson, another pillar of "the community."

So, Bill, you can now look for a more attractive neighborhood without guilt. Just say you've outgrown your space or the lease won't be renewed, whatever. Free at last!

Gregory W   May 25th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

You GO, Hillary! You are the only one with the correct answers. You are the only one with the swing-state vote. You are the one with the most votes cast (whether some claim they count or not). You are the only one to beat McCain. You are the correct choice for the U.S. Thank you for your extraordinary fight!

robk   May 25th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Why did this story have any mention of wardrobe changes? This seems completely irrelevant to the issues discussed, and frankly, makes cnn look for like E! and the rest of the celebrity gossip-fest.

As for Sen. Clinton's "challenge" to a debate, I think we all know by now that it is a rather rediculous idea. There have been over 20 debates, she's about 200 delegates behind, and Univision has already sponsored at least one debate (TX). Still, the phrasing of her quote was interesting: much less fire & fervor than in past weeks/months. It seems more like an obligatory statement than a challenge. I guess this is what it sounds like when a campaign is winding down. In some ways, it reminds me of some of the statements & gestures made by Gov. Huckabee as he was finishing up.

Hope you enjoyed the sun & the beach, Senator. I don't know how much opportunity you will have for it in the coming months. Certainly, your party will want you to help shine light on Sen McCain's spotty record and policy ideas. I look forward to proving some of your more harsh critics (including myself, at times) wrong by fighting the good fight for the donkeys after Sen. Obama accepts the nomination.

Rob   May 25th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Hillary is my choice for president! Throughout all the hype, the "controversies", and Obama-mania, She has been a role model for all Americans by never giving up. She will take this to convention and those who don't think so are dumb. This is a history-making primary! She will win and then what will all the naysayers…umm… say (haha!)

GO HILLARY!

Clinton Supporter   May 25th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Hillary certainly earned the warm welcome she received. She's done a great deal for Puerto Ricans, both on the mainland and the island. But then, when you're experienced and sensitive, that happens.

Too bad Barack can't think fast. I was hoping for another debate, but I know he's not up to it. Oh, well.

A couple of days of sun for a person who has so much stamina and commitment and loyalty to each one of us, even jerks because jerks are American, too, after all, is well deserved, and I'm sure, very much appreciated. She can steel herself for the next fight.

We love you, Hill!

A note to Puerto Rico- Consider the Clintons' actions, not their empty promises. Clinton lied to Puerto Rico when he agreed to comply with the wishes of Puerto Ricans and cease US Navy bombing on Vieques Island, yet days later he started bombing the populated island again. The Clintons are masterful liars; they will promise you the moon with a cheshire cat grin, but will lob a bomb at you the next day. How quickly Billary forgot that you were American citizens then, but suddenly around the time they're looking for votes, they conveniently remember that you vote in primaries. Don't trust the Clintons again, Puerto Rico.

Elizabeth   May 25th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

That tropical cheery jacket is not covering the darkness of your soul. We got an X-ray image of that dark soul the other day when you accidentally gave us a snap shot the evilness in you. I am sure your network, (Clinton News Network) will not publish this but I am sending it anyway just so I can tell people around me that CNN did exactly what they were expected to do.

Ivan, Chicago, Illinois   May 25th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

I do not like Karl Rove but when he said that America is a center to right country, he is correct. That is why since 1968 only 2 Democrats have won the White House. Carter because of the scandal ridden Nixon, and Clinton because he ran in the center.
Unfortunately for Democrats Obama is from the "Left", the losing side in Presidential elections.
Any improvement in the econpmy between now and November, it will be, bye bye Obama and "Hillary in 2012″

Nava-Canada   May 25th, 2008 9:58 pm ET

Hillary Clinton will not give up the fight until last day for two reasons

1. She must have got wind of the Demcratic caucus's thinking not to
offer the VP position to her as she will flex her musles and will try
to undermine Obama in the hope that she gets the 2012 party
nomination.

2. She is 'bitter' about the turn coats among the super delegates who
is inching away from her and getting ready to vote for Obama and
before she gets into seculded life, she wants to teach the party
stalwarts a one time lesson. She might even contest as an Inde-
pendant to spike the party and the voters, who she thinks, let her
down as the campaign progressed.

Chris   May 25th, 2008 9:58 pm ET

The next Democrat primary should be simply, just get Carter, Kerry, Pelosi and Chris Matthews together in a room and they can pick that one too. We don't count fellow Democrats, not one bit, just like Florida in 2000 OUR votes don't count , just the "big boys" No more party politics for me………

Jadyn   May 25th, 2008 9:46 pm ET

I was young when he was President, but from what I have read and what both my parents, grandparents and others have said, he was one of the WORST Presidents ever! They try to slander you because you have said things that the media has twisted, but at least we KNOW you don't have a RADICAL relative, friend, pastor or what-have-you around every corner! I think Hillary Clinton has still the chance to win she just need to hang on and as we can see from all this campaign. And this situation actually gave us the oppurtunity how resilient and strong woman she is. People are more interested in her campaign on every stop and even the media can't stop getting coverage of her although most of the media has been often critical of her for these past few weeks. However at this moment i think the tide is turning to her side as she gets more sympathy from voters esp. from Michigan and Florida and in Puerto Rico were she seems to connect more with voters. And if this will continue up to Montana this will like persuade superdelegates to her side as former Pres. Bill Clinton said superdelagates can flipside anytime…so Keep fighting Hillary we love you!!!!!!!!

Steve McKenney   May 25th, 2008 8:38 pm ET

Yaaawwnnn! Same ol' tired politics.

If she can't win, she will steal it.

If you argue that it's the popular vote, I suggest you go back to your Jr. High Civics teacher and ask them why we have Delegates electing the President instead of the popular vote. He/she will tell you that the reason for the delegate is so that smaller communities can stay in touch with the election process. Otherwise, Chicago, New York, L.A. and all the other large cities in America would elect the President and those that are located in rural areas really wouldn't have a say in who becomes the next POTUS.

If you win 33 states to 17 elections and the votes are still as close as they are today, it goes to show that the smaller communities are really having an effect on this primary election. The will of the country is being served. I just can't imagine nominating a person who wins 17 of 50 (to date) elections when the opponent wins 33 of 50. It would show that the best interest of the country would be best served in the largest cities of the U.S.

StanLee   May 25th, 2008 8:34 pm ET

I really like you Senator Clinton , but sometimes you have to know when to stop.

The RFK reference, even if good-willed, was yet another sign of very poor judgment of context and circumstance for an individual who would be President, a job which calls for the ability to foresee ramifications.

We have lost count of all the specious arguments, the twisting of facts, the downright low shots that have marked Mrs Clinton's campaign. She does have her loyalists, but her credibility with the rest of us is even lower than before she announced her candidacy.

If not for racism and sexism, she would never have gotten this far. Thank God, most Americans are NOT sexist or racist.

I always chuckle that in many photos and at almost every rally, Clinton speaks before an audience that is overwhelmingly White and yet Hillary always has an African American in close juxtaposition to where she is standing or sitting. THAT is so funny to me.

Greg   May 25th, 2008 8:31 pm ET

I was there. People had signs telling her to quit.

David, Santa Rosa, CA   May 25th, 2008 8:30 pm ET

I saw this posted by someone else, but it really hiot home… Faux News wouldn't post it no matter how many times I tried… there must be a banned phrase in it somewhere.

These are the risks that American soldiers have faced everyday for over five years now, and under President McCain, they will face them for at least four more years.

That's an incredible sacrifice to be made because some Clinton supporters decided to oppose Obama on issues wholly irrelevant to actual policy. That being the case, I just have to ask:

If you refuse to vote for Obama, why are you asking others to sacrifice for your decision?

If you're going to help McCain get elected, you need to take responsibility for your actions.

This election is bigger than you. It's bigger than Barack Obama. It's bigger than Hillary Clinton. Lives will be saved or lost depending on who is elected in November, and if you're going to willfully help prolong the war, it's time to do the honorable thing and enlist.

Locate a U.S. Army recruiter in your area:

Don't worry, you'll still be able to get election results from Baghdad, and you'll still be able to "sit this one out" under the comfort of a mortar attack.

And yes, I'm sure hearing about an Obama defeat will seem all the more sweet when you're laying in the choking aftermath of an IED explosion with a piece of half-melted plastic burning a hole into your intestines.

I'm sure you'll be comforted by the knowledge that history had no place for President Obama when you're staring at the empty space where your leg used to be.

And certainly, I'm sure the crippling terror of post-traumatic stress disorder will be nowhere as severe as the disingenuous "concern" you'll suffer over debunked Rezko conspiracy theories and the excited ramblings of a liberation theologian.

Of course, those already serving will not get the same perverse comfort from their sacrifice, so there's no excuse for not taking on this burden yourself.

If you truly believe that Obama should not be president, if you truly believe there is no greater pain than seeing a primary opponent win the general election, then this sacrifice can only be considered a modest price for your convictions.

Reality Check!   May 25th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

JIMMY CARTER was a one-time president. The most obvious factor was lack of previous experience in Washington. Like Obama, he ran on a "leadership crisis" and skepticism about "Washington,” with confidence that his own personal qualities could end the crisis. His campaign in 1975 stressed Washington's defects and his own virtues — NOT SPECIFIC ISSUES OR A CLEARLY DEFINED IDEOLOGY. He sensed a yearning for “change,” and tried to persuade the “disenchanted” that he had the personality and values the situation demanded.
Many voters found Carter puzzling—even contradictory—and UNTESTED. Carter only squeaked through to victory, with a popular vote of 40.8 million to Ford's 39.1 million and an electoral vote of 297 to 240.
What Carter failed at was to have a compelling vision AND POLITICAL SKILL.
Not surprisingly, Carter was a one-term president and even had to struggle to even obtain the re-nomination by his own party.

The media don't see this. More people are offended by the media than what Hillary said or did. What the media is doing to Hillary is doing it to us who supports her. Yes, it pains us.

Some news magazine columnists are now using every word they can find to demean Sen. Clinton….I wish they can see themselves as we see them.

Hillary Clinton better stay with her supporters and never mind the media till something changes.

TJ Johnson   May 25th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

Sen Clinton, please don't stick with this crazy bunch of democrats. Leave that WHACKED-OUT party and run for president as Independent. PLEASE!!

David E. Nicklas   May 25th, 2008 7:59 pm ET

Hillary Clinton is the only legal candidate. The U.S. Constitution reads, "No person except a natural born citizen shall hold the office of the President". Sen McCain was born in Panama and will not be eligible to hold the office. Sen. Obama, as researched by AP, was born in Machakos, Kenya; his fathers home province. He will not be eligible to hold the office. Serious Constitutional questions can be raised if someone not eligilbe under the Constitution were to be elected.

Hillary Upbeat, YES! Carter's Comments NO!   May 25th, 2008 7:58 pm ET

Get real, folks. JIMMY CARTER was a one-time president. The most obvious factor was lack of previous experience in Washington.

Like Obama, he ran on "leadership crisis" and skepticism about "Washington,” with confidence that his own PERSONAL qualities could end the crisis. His campaign in 1975 stressed Washington's defects and HIS OWN VIRTUES — NOT SPECIFIC ISSUES OR A CLEARLY DEFINED IDEOLOGY. Many voters found Carter puzzling—even contradictory—and UNTESTED (same with Obama). Carter only squeaked through to victory, with a popular vote of 40.8 million to Ford's 39.1 million and an electoral vote of 297 to 240.

Senator Clinton, please stay in the race, We need you. Dont let them run you off. Obama and his outfit are evil and will do this country real damage. . Praying for you.

Sam   May 25th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Too bad the democrats are allowing their party to be shredded. Sen Clinton is by far the most qualified and able candidate, but blind idol-worship (Black Messiah) will destroy the democrat party. Even if Obama should win the presidency, he cannot be successful, no matter what his over-inflated ego leads him to believe now.

she is shameless   May 25th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

After her stupid and insensitive remarks on Friday, she needs to just go away. I would be considered part of her base as a white woman, but I wouldn't vote for her.

tuycan   May 25th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

This is what bothers me when two weeks ago a woman from the democratic party called me and asked me to support senator Obama ; my answer was I did not like him and I thought he was not electable . The woman responded that he was . I don't know who is right . I closely follow the results of almost all the primaries and I found that black voters voted for Obama and white voters voted for Clinton and , to me , that is not good for the democratic party and the country ! I am not against Obama but , to me , Obama does not seem to have a workable resume to be the next president ; on the other hand , as for Clinton , I am not sure if people agree to a female president . I prefer to wait and see if the DNC will come up with a viable solution to this problem to have a candidate who can defeat Mc Cain . I 'd like to see an end to the republican big mess that is the origin of so many problems in our country for so many years . Our country deserves to be the richest and most powerful country and american people shoud be the proudest people on this planet !

Why can't 'this woman' start to campaign for Barack now?
She is a loser already; BO will at least appreciate it and reward her accordingly. Does she want to be a junior senator for life?

YES WE CAN   May 25th, 2008 7:46 pm ET

Hillary can take this to the convention. She will do whatever it takes to destroy the Democratic Party. Her ego and thirst for power is what is driving her, not the well-being of our great nation. It's ashame she isn't a Liberaterian. They finished their process. They know there is just 163 days to win the election and the Democratic's can't finish the primaries. Barack Obama is going to be the nominee and we are wasting valuable time. Please Super Delegates cast your vote and put an end to this. Please.

Hillary is a winner   May 25th, 2008 7:45 pm ET

Carter telling Hillary to give it up is like a young person telling him to go to leave the earth.

Yes, he has a right to speak, but he is such a turkey who wants to listen. Isn't he the one who botched rescuing our POW's in Iran and let Ron Reagan do that. He is such a quitter that maybe he thinks everyone should be a quitter.

By the way, why are all the anti Hillary people so angry and hateful.

Why not gather around the mother hen and let he choose the inexperienced one term US Senator as a VP. That is all he is qualified to be from my point of view.

Theogracias   May 25th, 2008 7:43 pm ET

As a young girl growing up in Puerto Rico, her parents told her never ever quit!!! But be a liar that's the ticket.l!!!

Hillary is a news maker. Keep making news.

Ken in Western NY   May 25th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

There she goes again…making promises to the folks in Puerto Rico that she knows she has no intentions of keeping. Just ask New Yorkers about those promises!!

We're still waiting for the hundreds of thousands of jobs for Upstate New York she promised when campaigning for the Senate. There have already been over 30,000 jobs lost since she took her senate seat. (And now an American Axle plant in Tonawanda (a Buffalo suburb) is going to be closing – does NAFTA ring any bells? It must be the new "Hillary Math" at work!!

Good job, Hillary. You've done all New Yorkers a disservice with your work in the Senate. Why don't you please go back to Arkansas, and take your big mouth husband with you!

Vig   May 25th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

When Obama courts the voters it always feels like an act of ingratiation and arrogance. When Clinton does, it always feels down to earth and real.

John   May 25th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

All these people who want Hillary to step down, should just back off and forget the whole lopsided reactions by mostly democrats. What would they say,if Obama lost to McCain?Leave alone the scenario where Hillary wins the nomination and defeats McCain,as polled by others. It is very interesting that Obama grabbed the subbing for Sen. Kennedy! It is nothing but political grandstanding,on the presidential contender Obama. I would have preffered a Kennedy kin or other relative to take over while the Senator recuperates. Hillary has the right to stay as long as it takes! If it has to go all the way to the convention, why not.Second laughter are usually the best.Democrats are watching very keenly what DNC will do.It would be a slap on the face , if the present Florida Gorvenor gets the VP slot, nominated by McCain! While DNC has been on the side watching all along!!!!!!!!!!!!

Judy Malone   May 25th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

Hillary Supporter...   May 25th, 2008 7:32 pm ET

I use to have so much admiration for the CLINTONS but after following the 2008 primaries and see how the CLINTONS have conducted themsevles, sad to say, I have lost all respect for them. Her method of conduct herself has not only destroyed her image but that of her husband as well and that will be evident in the months and in the years ahead. In the end she will ask herself, was it really worth it losing her dignitity, or even her soul over her quest for political power. Very Sad Clintons.

cpl   May 25th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

McCain vs Obama=McCain will win easily.

McCain vs Hillary=Hillary will win easily.

Olivia   May 25th, 2008 7:29 pm ET

Hillary is the best candidate to turn around our ailing economy, provide healthcare for all and bring our boys home from Iraq. She is experienced, smart, capable. The people who support her know this and is standing with her 100% and insist she stay in the race. Different groups and Obama supporters have been trying to get her out of the race by undermining her validity for staying in. They say pretty awful things that are disrespectful to Hillary and her family.

PUERTO RICO…….don't be conned by the music and dance and ads.
If you want real sensible believable change, then support Hillary. Many of Obama's ideas and proposals are Hillary's, now said to be his. I follow the campaigns daily as I work in the home and see and hear what is going on and what is being said.
Vote smartly….vote Hillary!

Venus   May 25th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

Keep going Hillary! Best of luck in PR!

Can't wait to see her exit next week after the last state!

It must be a real shock for her and the Clintons that they let a rookie beat them!

Go Bam! Change is coming to America!

Obama's What The World Needs Now/CA   May 25th, 2008 7:24 pm ET

I wish you would stay in Puerto Rico. However, I'm sure they don't want you there just as we don't want you here. I am glad the world now knows you have been parading as a democrat for all these years. Everyone knows the only reason you became a democrat in the first place is you knew you could never go anywhere as a republican. As the republicans only like old, white men.

Please do us all a favor and stay there.

deann   May 25th, 2008 7:24 pm ET

I deeply respect Hillary all the way to fight for the people's will, she is the real USA president we need.

Patricia   May 25th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

I am sure Clinton will do well in Puerto Rico. Being away from the mainland gives her some time to think and relax. The end is almost hear.

The MI/FL push by the Clintons will soon be over. Even if she somehow manages to get the popular vote, it won't matter.

She has fought a good fight, but I believe it is time for the next generation to take the lead.

Andre Weisz   May 25th, 2008 7:20 pm ET

Hillary, please quit the race and show you are a true Democrat by supporting the best candidate, who won most pleged delegates, super delegates, states, as well as the popular vote.
You may not have been aware for some time, or too many people may have said it already it too many times too clearly to understand.

A Bit About Carter and Obama to Think About   May 25th, 2008 7:18 pm ET

While I admire Carter's post-presidency work, I can understand why he might "embrace" Obama. Their campaigns are very similar, and just like Ted Kennedy hoping to restore "Camelot" just one last time, so Carter might want to lend credibility to his own, failed presidency. .

The reality is that JIMMY CARTER was a one-time president.

Deja-vu all over with Obama!

KE   May 25th, 2008 7:18 pm ET

You have to have a mind like a man to run for President. This is just my opinion. I'm sure I will offend some people (I'm a woman).

Hillary Clinton has a mind like a man. And maybe that upsets some people. Remember, men has many enemies.

But most importantly, we should be human first before anything else, and Hillary rocks 2008.

Hopefully they will vote for something other than "Bounce Dryer Sheets", aka "Hillary Clinton Brand". It's amazing to me what people use for criteria in the most important Democratic primary and general election of that last 30 years. "I'm voting for Hillary Clinton because her name is recognizable"……….. …

Mikey   May 25th, 2008 7:13 pm ET

Has she apologized to Senator Obama and his family yet?

I'm not holding my breath. This is the same person who laughed, no cackled, in a reporters face in response to a legitimate question and made fun of her sniper fire lie on SNL, but never owned up to it.

June 3rd can't come too soon, and he should have the magic number by then, unless there is a ridiculous settlement to the Florida and Michigan delegation issue.

Daniel, Loganville. Ga.   May 25th, 2008 7:13 pm ET

Liz Trotter is the latest to continue with the garbage aganist Sen. Obama.

When asked her opinion of the recent scandal surrounding some comments made by Sen. Hillary Clinton, which Trotter described by saying that, "some are reading [it] as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama." Hemmer quickly corrected Trotter, having noticed that she had said "Osama" when she meant "Obama." At this point, Trotter said, "Obama. Well…both if we could!" Trotter then laughed gleefully.

Hal   May 25th, 2008 7:12 pm ET

There are only three primaries left in the campaign and PR is her best shot to recruit her own Sirhan sirhan. She should be booed off the political stage. Her underhanded efforts to recruit whack-job racists to "open the door" for her reveal the true nature of the Clintons.

Mr DE   May 25th, 2008 7:12 pm ET

ANY OBAMA SUPPORTERS can do what ever they want.
But in reality there is no dem candidates have reach the magic number.

You all might wonder why many super delegates have not cash their votes yet, Im very sure they will wait till convention.

There are about 73 pledge delegates remaining and about 206 super delegates remaining.

Obama needs about 55 total delegates and Hillary needs about 245 total delegates to claim a nomination.

As of 05/24/2008….in general election.
Obama vs McCain…. 45 – 47 McCain will WIN
Hillary vs McCain.. 49 – 44 Hillary will WIN…

You decided who you want your next president…..

FYI.

1972 Democratic Primary popular vote
Hubert Humphrey 4,121,372 (25.77%)
George McGovern 4,053,451 (25.34%)
Henry M. Jackson 505,198 (3.16%)

1972 Democratic National Convention
Delegate Vote for Presidential Nomination
George McGovern 1,865
Henry M. Jackson 525
Hubert Humphrey 67

So it seems not always popular vote will get nominee.

1972 General Election
Richard Nixon (R) 520 electoral vote
George McGovern (D) 17 electoral vot

Let's not forget why Puerto Ricans love her. Her wonderful husband pardoned the Flaners who were Puerto Rican terrosits. Why would he pardon people who blew up a coffee house and killed a New York policeman and many others? Because there are one and a half million Puerto Ricans in New York and he wanted dear old HRC to win the Senate so she could run for president. The head of the CIA at the time said that this foolish act by Clinton was a threat to our national security. Oh well, what do we care, they get away with everything anyway. Go away Clinton's before you do any more harm than you already have.

Theresa   May 25th, 2008 6:51 pm ET

Good for you Hillary. You have had no down time since this process began (unlike your opponents).
I am still hoping and praying that the Super Delegates open their eyes before Obama gets the nod. I reallllly do not want another 4 years of Bush type leadership and thats what will happen because Obama doesn't have the experience and the fine people of America will not vote for for somebody who is not qualified. We need you Hillary
Enjoy the sun.

fafa   May 25th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

Challenge to a debate. Yes when you are the senate majority leader

I appreciate your resilence but cai I trust you

No McSame   May 25th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

Hillary please stay there. You may be able to do some good there. We don't need or want you back. Obama has got this thing covered. Just tell Bill to meet you and you can keep an eye on him and you both can sit back on the beach and see who can tell the best lies. The sniper fire one was a good one by the way.

Sandy from Ohio   May 25th, 2008 6:45 pm ET

I just heard on cnn that Bill is now claiming victory in the electoral college. The rules change again!!

R   May 25th, 2008 6:44 pm ET

Hillary,

I will support you no matter what. The superdelegates have no rights to tell you to get out of the race if they haven't decided themselves who to vote for.

I'm voting for HILLARY or nobody in November

Asa For Hillary   May 25th, 2008 6:43 pm ET

GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOBAMA

John, FL   May 25th, 2008 6:43 pm ET

Enjoy the warm Puerto Rican sun Hillary. Then, on June 3, come back home to reality and endorse the democratic candidate for president, Barack Obama.

BJ   May 25th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

STAY THE COURSE HILLARY!

If this needs to go to the Convention, So be it! If the superdelegates really want Obama as the nominee, WHY are they holding out their endorsements?

If Obama gets to 2026, then he is the nominee… otherwise, this is a signal that the supers are not as convinced that Obama has been fully vetted, and are waiting to see if there are any "hidden treasures" in his past that have still not been discovered.

KE   May 25th, 2008 6:38 pm ET

Looking good, Sen. Clinton.

I do not trust her. I do not trust her. Not at all. HRC is a liar, a cheater, a racist. She looks like a smiling snake. One second she smiles and next second she bites.

Hillary 2 Victory   May 25th, 2008 6:33 pm ET

We all support you Hillary! Keep it up and you will win!

Hillary 2008, 2012.

Paul   May 25th, 2008 6:28 pm ET

She can have her "bright spot".. they are a rare commodity for
her these days!!
Which is due entirely to her own pandering, hypocricy, and her desperate attepmts to salvage what was once an "inevitable" nomination!

What did happen to H.R. Clinton…?

energy   May 25th, 2008 6:25 pm ET

We pray for you, Hillary. May God Bless you and your husband, Bill!! Stay in there and don't let DEAN, Ted Kennedy, PeloSIN, and James Carter have their way against America!!

Vote Clinton/Bayh 2008

Pablo   May 25th, 2008 6:25 pm ET

Last night Hillary cried to an interviewer that the media is sexist and that she is upset because the American prople do not stop it. This is the so called tough woman who will nuke Iran? This is the Clintons who told Obama not to put on the uniform if he can not play rough?
Todo la jente dicen, Congratulationes El Presidente Obama!

Donna   May 25th, 2008 6:25 pm ET

It is nice to see her in something other than a pantsuit…shows a more "comfortable, relaxed" Hillary….

calif   May 25th, 2008 6:23 pm ET

only losers vote for her.

L MIAMI FLORIDA   May 25th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

GO HILLARY !

HILLARY OR NOTHING, NADA , ZERO VOTES !

COUNT OUR FLORIDA VOTES !

ccflo   May 25th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

Let Hillary continue the drive. She is doing it for the US and herself, just like the other candidates. Barack and John are doing it for themselves too.

jim t   May 25th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

STILL GOIN TO LOSE THERE BILLARY

Tony, Miami   May 25th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

She should stay with her husband for a week and have some sun. These last days time started to get a toll on them. Bill and her are losing their looks making them even look ugly and to more or less stop the aging process she should definitely bow out.

McCAIN THREW MEN OF GOD UNDER THE BUS!   May 25th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Hillary get the heck out of the race! Enough with this already there is no way that she can win this without the SDs stealing it from Obama and America and that just ain't gonna cut it.

The longer she stays the more she divide the party.Hilllary is a SPOILER!

John Smith   May 25th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

President Carter has the "guts" that most superDs and Hillary supporters lack: that sense of loyalty to "party." Rather, Hillary and co-sponsors are interested in their personal agendas, such as (a) gender issues, (b) racism, (c) up-keeping the dynasty and so on.

This woman, Hillary, has given this 50 year-old man a lot to think about "some" (I mean, some) women who are driven by power and revenge!

I have and will continue to respect women, not this one- Hillary

Tom, ALBUQUERQUE, NM   May 25th, 2008 6:16 pm ET

HILLARY PLEASE DON'T QUIT UNTIL ALL OPTIONS ARE EXHAUSTED. IF OBAMA IS THE NOMINEE AND WHEN HE LOSES IN NOVEMBER YOU CAN REST PEACEFULLY KNOWING THAT YOU GAVE THE DEMS A CHOICE TO THE VERY END. THESE ULTRA LIBERALS , STUFFY SOPHOMORIC YOUNG VOTERS , AND DISLOYAL AFRICAN AMERICAN VOTERS ARE IN FOR BIG NOVEMBER DEFEAT.

McCAIN THREW MEN OF GOD UNDER THE BUS!   May 25th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

You all need to think before you waste your vote on her what did her husband do for you? All the promises she is making, why didn't her husband fore fill any of these things when he had the chance and why didn't she, she had an opportunity to make a big impact when she was first lady with health care, but she couldn't get along with even the people that were working with her.

Abu   May 25th, 2008 6:11 pm ET

is she stil running?!

A, Austin   May 25th, 2008 6:10 pm ET

Hilary is not smart as I thought or she way too smart. She made dark comment, then did not understand to apologize for it (she did not understand the real problem!). Now she says she did not mean the dark comment.

We need a woman president soon, but not Hillary. She is not very smart or too dark. Either is not a good sign.

Ascardo   May 25th, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Well Well Well! See who's brightened up! Hillary certainly looks good in tis bright outfit.
Nevertheless, she ought to recognise the fact that Clintons do not brighten/win all the time and acknowledge Obama's win.
