These are the risks that American soldiers have faced everyday for over five years now, and under President McCain, they will face them for at least four more years.

That's an incredible sacrifice to be made because some Clinton supporters decided to oppose Obama on issues wholly irrelevant to actual policy. This being the case, I just have to ask:

If you refuse to vote for Obama, why are you asking others to sacrifice for your decision?

If you're going to help McCain get elected, you need to take responsibility for your actions.

This election is bigger than you. It's bigger than Barack Obama. It's bigger than Hillary Clinton. Lives will be saved or lost depending on who is elected in November, and if you're going to willfully help prolong the war, it's time to do the honorable thing and enlist.

Don't worry, you'll still be able to get election results from Baghdad, and you'll still be able to "sit this one out" under the comfort of a mortar attack.

And yes, I'm sure hearing about an Obama defeat will seem all the more sweet when you're laying in the choking aftermath of an IED explosion with a piece of half-melted plastic burning a hole into your intestines.

I'm sure you'll be comforted by the knowledge that history had no place for President Obama when you're staring at the empty space where your leg used to be.

And certainly, I'm sure the crippling terror of post-traumatic stress disorder will be nowhere as severe as the disingenuous "concern" you'll suffer over debunked Rezko conspiracy theories and the excited ramblings of a liberation theologian.

Of course, those already serving will not get the same perverse comfort from their sacrifice, so there's no excuse for not taking on this burden yourself.

If you truly believe that Obama should not be president, if you truly believe there is no greater pain than seeing a primary opponent win the general election, then this sacrifice can only be considered a modest price for your convictions.

If the BEST that America does is to put in office ONLY those who have been vetted (with extensive experience), even though these folks continue to make the same errors in judgement (e.g., about the war, gas tax issues and so on), is American better off than "traditional" countries that ONLY look up to the Elderly?

I thought American is the land of "opportunity," and that with opportunity comes experience! We need a lot of growing up in this nation!

Apparently he and Obama want to get as many up here one way or the other so they'll have more and more to honor.

Sen. McCain feels that he served his duty to American by wearing the uniform and I suspect that since he did, he expects all Americans to do the same. The problem is that it is not a responsibility to serve your country by joining the military, that is a personal choice. However, I do agree that serving your country is some way is all of our responsibilities. I serve our country by supporting and raising money for charities that help people. Barack served his country by coming out of college and going directly into community service.

Sen McCain is out of touch with what serving your country really means. We need people here on our soil helping families and businesses as well as people defending our country and in some cases, both are equally dangerous depending on the neighborhood you decide to work in.

I am also a veteran, a draftee back in the Viet Nam days, though I was never shot at, never pulled a trigger after basic training, and was certainly no battlefield hero. I served my time working in the psychiatric clinic in a military hospital stateside.

It is hypocritical of McCain, who supported the draft dodgers W. Bush, Cheney, and Gingrich, to now call out Obama for not serving at a time when there was no draft. It is also hypocritical of those who support a war to be unwilling to join the military and fight it. It is much easier to order strangers into war than to draft your children, your neighbors, and yourself to fight. It is also hypocritical to expect our troops to serve a second, third, or fourth tour in Iraq whey you do not intend to serve even one.

As far as former President Clinton saying that Senator Clinton is being disrespeccted, in order to get respect you have to give it – bottom line. He's a fine one to talk as well – no one can disrespect her more than he did.

Elect McCain = worse health care coverage – worse economy – continued war and maybe even another war with Iran – talk but no action on the environment (because he ties US environment action to equal action in China & India which won't happen).

I believe he is sincere. But the problem is his policies are the same as what got us in the mess in the first place.
