Obama supporters planning DNC counter-protest

Both Clinton and Obama supporters are planning to protest outside Saturday's RBC meeting in Washington.

Both Clinton and Obama supporters are planning to protest outside Saturday's RBC meeting in Washington.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Supporters of Barack Obama’s presidential bid are planning to demonstrate outside the Saturday meeting in Washington where Democratic officials are slated to debate the seating of the Florida and Michigan delegations at the party’s summer convention.

The move comes days after backers of Hillary Clinton’s White House run announced plans to converge on the Washington, D.C. hotel where members of the Democratic National Committee’s Rules and Bylaws Committee are meeting.

“Hillary Clinton's supporters are going to be bussing in protestors for the Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting, so it's critical that we show up for the counter-protest,” wrote on organizer in a post on the Daily Kos Web site Tuesday morning.

Last week, the pro-Clinton Committee to Count Every Vote said it was organizing a day-long May 31 rally outside the RBC meeting.

“Our purpose is not to divide the party or attack the DNC or Senator Obama. Michigan and Florida, however, in addition to Hillary's strong support nationwide, cannot and must not be dismissed in DNC efforts to unify the party.”

The group said it was organizing buses to carry protestors to the meeting site, and could offer some overnight housing for those who could not afford to pay for accommodations.

Earlier this month, Clinton told a group of bloggers who support her candidacy that she encouraged efforts to lobby the committee.

“I thank you for zeroing in on the May 31 meeting. There will be a lot of activity around that meeting,” she said on a conference call, adding that it was “important your voices are heard” by DNC members.

A limited number of seats inside Saturday’s meeting were scheduled to be made available by the DNC at 10 a.m. ET Tuesday – but as of 10 minutes after the hour, all those seats had been claimed. Limited same-day registration will be available as space permits, according to the party’s Web site.

Those who make it inside will have to abide by strict guidelines banning “banners, posters, signs, handouts, and noisemakers of any kind” – and they won’t have a chance to weigh in, since there is no allowance for public comment.

Clinton’s campaign has pushed for both the Florida and Michigan delegations to be seated in full in accordance with the results of their January primaries, which were not sanctioned by the DNC because they were scheduled early in defiance of party instructions. Clinton was the only major candidate to appear on the ballot in Michigan, and won both contests.

The DNC, state Democratic parties and both presidential campaigns have said that they are eager for a compromise that would allow both Florida and Michigan to send delegations to the party’s nominating convention in Denver – but all sides stress that the solution would have to be acceptable to both campaigns.

Obama senior adviser David Axelrod signaled in an interview last week that the Illinois senator might be willing to consider a compromise that would give a slight advantage to Clinton.

Fl & MI will be seated but not the way HRC wants it to be seated. The Clinton's disgust me with the "old Bush steal"the election tactics. How low will they go should be the question? DNC will do their job and not divide the party, nor will they over rule the peoples choice.

    Every Vote must count???

    What about the caucus states?
What about those persons in Michigan and Florida who did not vote because the were told their votes would not count.

Hey Kathy FLA, is Hillary a liar or does she just want the rules changed? Take your choice. She signed and verbally committed that the votes would not count. So don't cry about these delegates not being counted and stop blaming Obama for this because all candidates agreed. These were the rules. The states were warned.
The only reason Obama's people opposed counting the votes is because he did not campaign so the results would not be representative of a fair vote. His name was not on the Michigan ballot because everyone agreed to remove the names. Except that Hillary went back on that agreement. And when it comes to politicians running a dishonest campaign, Hillary is the champ, not Obama.
She was the one who decided to take this campaign into the gutter because she was petrified after Obama blew her away in Iowa.

Sigh. It's past time to look at this objectively. The results in Michigan and Florida are pretty much meaningless because of who was actually on the ballot and who actually campaigned there. People in those states need to turn their anger towards those states (and not the DNC or Obama) for breaking established rules by the DNC. Counting the results from those states wouldn't be fair to Obama but at this point it wouldn't matter as he'd still take the nomination.

That said, please don't use your vote to spite Obama. You aren't just hurting Obama you're likely hurting your interests as well. Clinton and Obama are close on the issues; McCain is nearly polar opposite.

Being an outsider and supports neither Obama not Clinton, I find it interesting, why Clinton did not protest, at the begining, when the DNC instated the rule.

She has even agreed not to campaign in those two states. Well, the same way you guys elected an idiot like Bush to the White house. Where is Clinton's integrity? At the begining I abide the the rules, but when its going to benefit me, I do not.

    FOLLOW YOUR PARTY'S RULES!

Face it, your votes were COUNTED – however, your states will not receive any delegates as punishment for disregarding your party's primary rules.

The rest of America now knows how many FL & MI voters cast meaningless ballots in the Democratic Party Primary.

The Federal Government has no jurisdiction in party rules – it's up the Rules Committee when they meet on 31 May.

    Punishment hurts now, doesn't it?

I thinnk Obama tactically dropped of the race in Michigan as he knows the fact that he will definitely loose in Michigan and now they speak that as a protest......

wow obama supporters agree that hillary can win 300 electrol votes....Can obama do this????

Also when talking about no of states won I have a question Can you compare Michigan and mississippi as equal or dakota or other small states

If obama is nominated he will lose

Lord have mercy. This is really quite simple – Florida and Michigan voters are the only ones responsible for the fact that their primary votes do not count. This is a democracy – you elect your representatives, they make decisions, you live with the consequences because they are YOUR elected officials. If you don't like the decisions or the consequences, vote them out. But please, quit blaming the rest of us who elected representatives that DID NOT break the rules. If the democratic party in Florida is so weak that they couldn't stop the republicans from screwing up their primary, do something in your State to change that. You sound like a bunch of bratty children who could give a rip about the rules. Tell me how you rationalize this to your children. Also, please tell me in a logical and rational manner what punishment should be imposed for breaking these rules – how about telling me what we should do if, say, Washington State decides to move up it's primary in four years? Or Illinois, or Oregon, or West Viriginia or etc., etc.

It's really quite simple. This entire primary season was designed by Clinton supporters to get her the nomination quickly. Obama played by the rules and is winning. Clinton is losing and now wants to change those rules. As twisted as it's become, there's something amusing about watching Ickes, McAuliffe, et. al. ferociously advocating the need to undo what they did to begin with. Logic, we've all seen, is not one of the Clinton campaign's strong suits.

Support John McCain a moderate and sensible Republican in 2008. All Democrats have lost their way, are bitter and divisive and will not serve America well.

    Be sane and vote McCain.

THEY SHOULD DIVIDE THE VOTES 50/50 BUT SEN.CLINTON DOES NOT WANT THIS SHE WANTS IT ALL.THAT IS NOT THE THING TO DO WHEN SEN.OBAMA'S NAME WAS NOT EVEN ON THE BALLOT IN MICHIGAN.THE WITCH AND ALL HER COHORTS ARE LIARS ABOUT THE HONORABLE THING TO DO.HOW IS TAKING ALL THE RIGHT THING TO DO.I SEE SHE WENT TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY IN PUERTO RICO IF SHE WANTS TO CAMPAIGN LIKE THIS MAYBE SHE SHOULD STAY IN CHURCH AND STUDY THE TEN COMMANDENTS UNTIL THEY STICK THEN MAYBE SHE WILL DO WHAT IS THE FAIR AND HONORABLE THING.

    Dear Fellow Americans,

Our Greatgrand Nation, the United States of America,
is facing and will face very critical, substantial
"Challenges" in the coming months, years, and decades.

It is imperative that we the people of the America
become interested, involved, and engaged in choosing
and voting for our next President.

The following criteria will guide and help us to a
right candidate. The candidate we choose must have
    following characteristics:

    1. A clear, candid " Vision and Mission" for our
    Nations present and future.

    2. A " Strong Character and significant
    Integrity".

    3. A sound and sustained "Presidential Temperament"
    and " Judgment".

    4. Less "Washington exposure" and "real
connectivity with the people and future
    generation".

    5. One who "Inspires us up" rather than
"Tears us Down or divides us".

    6. One who is not based on sexism,
racism, regionalism, ageism, or any other ism and as
well as one who attempts to " bring us together ".

    7. A foreign policy of mainly "USA Centric".

In my professional, political and personal opinion,
the only candidate that meets all the above
    characteristics and has shown consistent
coolness, calmness, and connectedness { PRESIDENTIAL
TEMPERAMENT } is Senator Barack Obama.

As an independent registered voter since 1980, I voted
for Carter, voted for Reagan, voted for First Bush,
and second Bush in 2000 and in the process lost
interest in Washington politics to the point where i
stopped voting. Getting disinterested and disgusted in
our political process and stopping voting was a very
very bad decision in any circumstance, particularly
    under present circumstances.

This time we can not afford to stay on the sidelines
and let "Washington" stay the same. We can not afford
to allow our Greatgrand Nation to become less than
what we are, what we were and what we can be.

We need to send a clear, careful and candid message to
the world and sometimes 24-hour partisan divisive
media, that We the American people will set the agenda
for our future. America and Americans will be back.

These partisan media outlets are trying and will try
their best to deprive, decieve, dupe, and derail us.
Let us stay involved, engaged, and express our opinion
freely and vote. Our Nation will get it right this
    time
to protect, preserve, and promote our future.

Some of these partisan media and pundits are trying
their best to deny us a better future and continue
focusing on our weaknesses to generate a bitter future
for us and our Greatgrand Nation. Our nation's people
will see thru. Unfortunately our Greatgrand Nation's
people are persistently and constantly subjected to
this "Psychological Terrorism" without common people’s
    knowledge.

The common and regular people do not have time to see
thru and sort thru this psychological terrorism
perpetuated by some of these partisan media outlets.

I find it tragic, unfortunate, and sad [ They probably
do not care about our Greatgrand Nation ]as they claim
that they do it in the interest OF our Greatgrand
    Nation.

We the Americans should not and will not to allow
some of these partisan media outlets to
    psychologically
terrorize, traumatize and silence us this time nor
    any other time in future.

I am sure that we will get it right this
time and elect Senator Obama as our next President.

Let us remember that our Greatgrand nation consists of
    family, friends,fellowships, faith, funds,foundation,
fun, and future with fairness and freedom and without
    fear, favor, or failure .

We can not afford to lose any of the above. Let us
stand up, be counted, save and rebuild our Greatgrand
Nation for centuries to come. I am sure our Greatgrand
nation andits diverse people. will reclaim, regain and
restore the global economic, social, moral, and power
    status of USA.

God Bless our Great grand Nation and its diverse
    people.

Our Greatgrand nation needs present and future
    stability, security, safety,sustained progress and
restoration of our due status in this perilous Global
    World at all levels.

    Yours sincerely,

On this double edged sword which is above Clinton and Obama, the issue that counts is the disfranchisement of those who voted and their votes won’t count as well as those who never voted based on the knowledge their vote will not count to begin with.

Here again the Clinton's show there arrogance. Hillary, please let it go. You and your sorry family are not entitled to the Whitehouse!

Superdelegates, please put an end to this mess. Hillary is attempting to create decisiveness in the democratic party for her own selfish reasons.

She agreed to the sanctions on FL & MI from the beginning. They should not be seated. They knew the consequences when they attempted to move up their primaries. There was no secret there.

The Obama supporters are actually going to Washington to support NOT counting the votes of Florida and Michigan? It is EXACTLY this type of behavior that caused me to distrust Obama and no longer support his bid. Plain and simple: if you voted for Obama and your vote was discarded, and Hillary took the nomination, how would you feel? Think about it.

CLINTON is out to destroy any chances of Obama being elected so she can do a "i told you so". if the DNC does not live up to the rules and the backroom cigar smokers get under the table deals to put clinton in, i am going to do all in my power to get obama to run as an indepedent. his ability to raise money from the little guy would work. clinton is one ugly BXXXX who lied about sniper fire to get attention, race card to get white vote and cause racial tension in WV, poor little woman to get votes, and the beat goes on. I AM NOT GOING TO EVEN DRIVE THROUGH ARKANSAS ANYMORE WITH THESE MONSTERS OF THE BUSH/CLINTON ROYALTY TAKING OVER AMERICA. overstated???? how about millions off NAPTA related parties and "i knew it was wrong the day we signed it"??? GO AWAY.

Notice how the DNC rules committee have been quiet? That's because
they don't have to say a word, just stick to the rules. The most that the
DNC will do is a 50 / 50 split. They are not going to give Hillary the
Michigan votes when her name is the ONLY one on the ballot. That is
laughable and reminiscent of a medieval soviet election. The DNC
has made it very clear publicly that they are not going to let the Clintons
dictate the rules to their advantage. That being said, this is a free country,
so they can protest until the cows come home.
