I see a government that sits at the top in stony silence. They don't want America to see their devilish scheming. I have known this all along. Not much gets past a wary veteran. While the world's focus is on the slow motion - trade center like - crash and burn of America, (Thanks to this administration), Germany is quietly bringing up the rear. Don't say I didn't warn you.

While its completely proper to rail about our losses at the hands of ineptitude, UNDERSTAND that every public servant who runs for high office has a SELF SERVING PERSONAL AGENDA and don't you let ANYONE tell you different. This includes BUSH, OBAMA,THE CLINTONS (You don't just get ONE) and MCCAIN. Hillary is so desperate for the shot, she will stoop to ANYTHING, just watch. Every time I hear Bill Clinton on the campaign trail I get nose bleeds. THEY HAD THEIR SHOT!

Seems like everyone is holding their candidate out at arms length and holding their noses. LIES LIES LIES! Americans of all stripes, AND our troops DESERVE SO MUCH MORE. We need fresh blood in this country, not a policy of more of the same. I say EMPTY the halls of Congress! America can't get anything done!

Look...I am getting tired of hearing the same story OVER AND OVER.

For once I am taking the side of Congressmen Wexler of Florida. Let's put this McCellan guy under oath.

If what he alleges is true, impeach everyone...BUT...if he (McCellan) changes his tune when under oath...THE SUBJECT IS CLOSED.

Let us all as a nation face the facts...we are in Iraq and Afganistan. Regardless of how we got there, (Bad intelligence, Neo-Cons, Oil company greed, or Sadaam WMD), we are THERE.

Lets finish what we started in both countries. If, god forbid, it looks like we can't finish the job, then lets pull out the troops and Annihilate both countries...lets drop the nukes and make it so that no one can inhabit either country for 10,000 years.

The message must be sent that you cannot win a war against the United States...as a nation we will do what is in our best interest...and we don't care what the rest of the world thinks.

Our new foreign policy:

FEAR US
RESPECT US
LIKE US

In that order.

Lets focus on what is really important...like balancing the budget.

Yeah, expose the whole Bush Administration for all the laws they broke and rules they manipulated. I would hope that once their reign is over all of them need to be prosecuted to fullest extent of the law. Bush needs to be tried for war crimes, get convicted then extradited to a solitary confinement prison somewhere on an island in the middle of the Pacific.

Yeah and if Blitzer and the rest of the so called pundits were actually doing their jobs they might have asked a question or two instead of being Bush's cheerleader. Hindsight is 20/20 Wolfie boy. You're just as complicit as this administration. You clowns were tripping over yourselves to get 'embedded' with a combat unit. The news media is nothing more than a lapdog for whoever is in power anymore. Where is Walter Cronkite when you need him?

President Bush and friends could never have gone to war without the blessings of CNN. Ted Turner and his whole crew should be called to explain their role in the war. The many hundreds of thousands of lives that they distroyed.
4000 dead soldiers and maybe 200,000 dead Iraqis. The wanton destruction of homes and infrastructure and labeling of anyone who stands up for their rights as insurgents.
How many American soldiers are injured? Let us know CNN. You are a pack of greedy opportunists.
With a strong leaning towards racism.
Time will tell

Frankly he just put in print what a lot of us have suspected or known in part all along.

How sad. Even those who told the lies now are admitting that they were lying. I wonder how Dana Perino who is now the voice of lies and the others can face themselves in the mirror but I guess I know. Bush, his administration and Republicans in general are delusional. The great majority don't think they have never done anything wrong. It is difficult to see how we will heal the divisions in this country when a large portion of the population could be reasonably considered to be completely removed from reality and amoral. They don't seem to know right from wrong, and think that torture is ok, that lying is ok, that the non-defined ends justify any means. Some way must be found to convince Republicans that for all their 'values' propaganda, they are not above the law. Bush's approval ratings among Republicans clearly show that they still believe they are above the law by a sizable majority. Their consensus reality is not that of America and frankly, their ability not to understand that frightens me and makes me worry about the future of the country.

This is the very reason all men and women who consider joining the military to supposedly fight for their country, need to explore whether they are only going to be used as political pawns in an evil administration such as the Bush administration has turned out to be.

CNN--your network today had a segment about how McCain differs from Bush.

Please post the highlights of this segment.

McCain is not Bush. He shouldn't be blamed for what Bush did.

McCain is a moderate Republican, a centrist.

CNN, please post this and stop deleting my comments. Thank you.

Since our Democrats in office are afraid of the Republicans and the media, I believe this is one of the reasons they do not want Hillary Clinton in the White House. Nancy Pelosi took impeachment off the table, but Hillary Clinton will lock up everyone in this administration if she gets into office. George Bush and his "buddies" have committed crimes that we are not even aware of yet. And the crimes that we are aware have been "overlooked" by our elected Democrats. We need leaders that are fighters. If the Democrats would unite around Hillary, SHE WILL GET THE JOB DONE!!

Very interesting way of selecting a president, from the Country that broadcasts Democracy to the World. In 2004, the president that most Americans chose was not elected because of "rules". A person voting in Florida is more important than one voting anywhere else? Democracy???

In Brazil, if you are from Sao Paulo or Rio or Fortaleza or Porto Alegre you count as anyone: ONE vote.

The guy with the bigger number of votes (nationwide) wins. No seating delegates, direct election. I appologise if the rules are too simple for you guys.

I find the bitterness expressed by some a sad thing...bitterness is poison in the heart of man. Lay aside the bitterness and negative emotions and attempt to look at this with reason and fairness. Anyone who believes fault lies with only with one party, person, or group is biased and is incapable of intellectual honesty.. I suspect that some of what S.M. said is true, some is jaded, some is speculation and some is false.

How is this book possibly news? It's what half of this country has known for years; that we followed this administration into war like lemmings off a cliff. I can't believe that once the wmd's were not found, we didn't have more of a public out cry. This administration knows how apathetic this nation can be, and they used it to goat us into an unnecessary war without taking responsibility for any of the consequences of their actions.

Scott McClellan is a free man! His tortured soul has been released after working for one of the most twisted administrations in the history of the United States. All of the news media need to just stop with their surprised inquiry. The truth is that the media was lead down the path years ago by this administration to drum up public support for an unjust war and search for WMD. The administration has moved from searching for WMD; hunting down Sadam; to bringing democracy to Iraq. We are now in the role of supporting peace keeping with our military on 2-4 rotations in Iraq until their new government can establish itself to once again run the country under a new regime. This administration is just unbelievable!

"McClellan ... says the war in Iraq was a blunder... Does that mean that the 4,000-plus American troops killed in Iraq and the hundreds of billions of dollars spent were for naught?"

Of course that's what it means, but because we "support the troops but oppose the war," we're unwilling or unable to grasp this uncomfortable truth. Their lives, and all that money, have been utterly wasted.

Remember All the President's Men? When Ben Bradley
says the Nixon people were making non-denial denials?
They are NOT saying "That's a lie!"
Today we see Bush's people, and the press parroting
it, saying "We're puzzled. That's not the Scott I
knew." or "Why complain now if he didn't then?"
As if either makes any difference in that the
president lied, and so did most of his men. We were
sold a needless immoral war, and those who stood in
the way, were maligned. All maligners were pardoned
or protected.
Who the heck cares if Scott is pissed about losing
his job or thrilled about it? Does that change
things?
This is the same song we heard from the remaining
living Nixon staff about who Deep Throat was. What a
lousy traitor--NOT the president or his men, but the
man who said what they were doing.
Why isn't the press pointing this out?
It reminds me of how the press continues to play
around with Hillary's statements that she has the
popular vote, or is ahead (somehow, somewhere), and
feels picked upon and bullied by the press. They keep
covering her speeches and talking about how she could
still win.

Plenty of people hinted at what McClellan has written. Namely that Bush seemed determined to go to war on Iraq whatever the evidence. The question was why. Was it because the war industry could boost the economy? Because it could secure plenty of oil? Or because his father was sometimes criticized for not having deposed Saddam before? Did he want to try the compact in-and-out small army concept?

One thing Rendell got absolutely right... President Bush has “always been an instinctive leader more than an intellectual leader”. Don't forget he was rhe one that looked into Putin's eyes and saw his soul...

The folks on here that don't want to see Obama in office are just ready for the same ole stuff we've had for the last 8 years!!!

Let us not for get Hillary and McCain were lock stock and barrel with Bush on this war!!!

McCain really shouldn't be the GOP nominee any way his wife just so happen to bail him out when the funds got tight. I mean think about it what Conservative really want someone like him in office?

"President Bush and his senior advisers “confused the propaganda campaign with the high level of candor and honesty so fundamentally needed to build and then sustain public support during a time of war.”"

Scott, I am not a WH press secretary, but as a common citizen, I agree completely. The public was sold propaganda rather than communicated honest and candid truths about Iraq and war. It was clear to me through the entire process that the reasoning for going to war was not based on any sort of ethical or moral foundation that could continue to motivate the public in a favorable and positive way. Rather it was founded on false claims and weakly connected half-truths that didn't have the logical or moral power to arouse the inner sense of identity and support for the cause. The American public ultimately strongly supported our participation in WWI and WWII, for example, because we knew what was at stake and we believed it was right to fight. It was clear then that the U.S. was morally justified in participating because we were defending ourselves and others. Iraq has never "felt right". Our leaders have consistently used fear, anger, and misinformation about Iraq's connection to al Qaeda to tell us the war is warranted.

Wolf, the loss related to this war is unbelievably devastating: primarily to the Iraqi and American families, the coalition, and our country; we will never be the same again. Perhaps, this book will provide the impetus to take our country down a different path from the current doomed one.

This former press secretary must be anticipating a change of parties in the Whitehouse and is using the allegations to help him prepare for a future position in media.

Good for McClellan. It's high time people started being straight up about this war. Every Marine I know who's served over there has had anything good to say about it. Not to mention the hit that the economy has taken with it all. There is a direct correlation with the war efforts, the national debt (which has tripled in Bush's administration), and gas prices. And now $4 gas is sending inflation through the roof. Get rid of him now and put Obama in. No reason to wait for November if he's going to win anyway.

This proves Scott will do anything for a few bucks. If you think the Republicans have messed up wait until the Democrats have a go at it. Where will the first dirty bomb go off? New York ? where?
Bush will be a hero in a few years.

I always thought growing up that the Press kept their eyes on EVERYONE and couldn't WAIT to find the truth and bring it to the people. Remember Watergate? The two reporters who dug and dug and FOUND the TRUTH and brought it out into the open and changed History??

I see those values in the profession are no longer rewarded or sought out.

I think it is time to review who owns and controls the media sources and get to the bottom of why the truth is hidden from us all.

Not ONE reporter even thought to follow up on any of the questions asked of Hillary even when she simply felt comfortable enough to LAUGH in their Faces. (the 800K)

This is a shame.
