Clinton campaigned in Montana Tuesday.

(CNN) – With only three primary contests remaining in the prolonged race for the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton is stepping up her efforts to convince potential voters and the party's superdelegates that she is a stronger general election candidate than Barack Obama.

In a particularly spirited speech Tuesday night at a Montana campaign event, the New York Senator suggested Obama is much more likely to lose to presumptive Republican nominee John McCain next fall.

"We have not gone through this exciting unprecedented historic election only to lose," Clinton said at an event in Billings, Montana.

"You have to ask yourself who is the stronger candidate?" she continued. "And based on every analysis of every bit of research and every poll that’s been taken and every state that a democrat has to win, I am the stronger candidate against John McCain in the fall."

It was not immediately clear which polls and states Clinton was specifically referencing.

Recent polls out of the crucial swing states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida have indicated she has a better chance of beating McCain in those places than Barack Obama. But the Illinois senator performs better is several other swing states that Democrats have historically had difficulty winning, such as New Mexico, Nevada, and Colorado.

YES WE CAN   May 28th, 2008 11:36 am ET

James Carvell told Diane Sawyer this morning that Barack Obama willl win in November. And he said he would support Barack. Everyone but Hillary.

Maybe Hillary would want to be McCain VP. She is apparently working for the Republican;s. This is sick. Hillary and Bill think we are in the General Election already.

Super Delegates you are the only ones that can stop her. Hillary is out to distroy the party and anyone else that gets in her way.

YES WE CAN - WHEN WE UNITE.

CC   May 28th, 2008 11:36 am ET

Wow Ms Clinton! I guess if you plan on sabotaging Mr. Obama, yes he definitely will lose. You sound like a sore loser. Some of us have long memories and if you do sabotage him (in your not so subtle speeches and innuendoes), you can best believe that you won't be president in 2012 or 2016.

What little credibility you had is gone. I've never been a fan of yours, but was a great fan of your husband. But the levels that you two have sunk to during this primary/caucus season is incredible. You never thought you'd be on the losing end and it just goes to show that you can't handle it! Before you think about running this country, you and your husband need to grow up and mature a bit.

Dale in VA   May 28th, 2008 11:36 am ET

Stand up for what you believe Hillary !!!

This is exactly what people need to hear……pushing everything aside: gender, race, backgrounds etc. Who is the better candidate ?

Putting everything aside, she is the better choice and since polls are everywhere, why do they say or indicate she can beat Mcain ? people make the polls.

what gets me in all this is when a super endorses clinton, then the supers district voted for obama -then he/she switched to obama… Now have we heard this in reserve ? what about all those supers who districts voted for hillary and the supers switched to hillary ??? I think the 31st is going to be very interesting and the politics will shine. the supers can change thier mind once again.

Again its about putting the right person in office - NOT THE RIGHT GENDER OR RACE, JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT OR MAKING HISTORY, ETC. I think a lot of people are in favor of just that, gender or race.

Go hillary !!!!!!!!

Nevada   May 28th, 2008 11:36 am ET

The deceptiveness in some of her comments is this… though she is shown to do better in some states, Obama still beats McCain just by a smaller margin, so he will still win. Lets not ignore all those facts from your "research" Hillary….

Suzie M. in Las Vegas   May 28th, 2008 11:36 am ET

This Obamican will never vote for her. I love Obama but if she wrests this nomination away from the man who rightfully is earning it, I will vote for McCain. And you'd better believe I am not alone!

ele   May 28th, 2008 11:36 am ET

what planet is she living on ? it most be mars, and why in heavens name of we up there messing around? can't do anything about it, just like hc down here, she cannot do a (d) thing about this election (Ha,Ha)

Laura PA   May 28th, 2008 11:35 am ET

If Hillary is so strong why didn't she beat President Obama in the primary? If she was so strong & the majority of the people in the democratic party wanted her she would have locked this nomination up in February like she thought that she would. Remember she said that she wouldn't need Florida & Michigan's delegates, she said that they wouldn't count. She said that the nomination is won by the candidate who has the most DELEGATES…..Remember Hillary….get a life, get over it & support Barack Obama for President like you keep professing after the June 3 primaries which you will lose…..Also, her new ad proclaiming that she will not spend money that the United States does not have like George Bush if she becomes president - why should we believe you????? You are spending money to run your campaign that you do not have?????!!!!!!!!!

Nas from PA   May 28th, 2008 11:35 am ET

Clinton had money, endorsements, name recognition and good old Bill and still couldn't get it done. She even had weeks of bad publicity on her side and the pander of all panders. If she can't win a demorcratic election what makes her think she can win the general. repulicans will knock each other over trying to get to the polls to vote McCain. There is no way repulican land will allow Clinto back in the white house. She is also selective with her polls. She discounts the polling that has Obama leading and touts the polls she leads in even though within the margin of error.

She has lost. Millions upon million have voted for her but more have decided Obama is their choice. She should just STOP. But she won't. What she wants is to be president above all else even the party. Shes taking this too far but she's selfish and will continue until the wheels fall off and even then she will crawl. She is begging and its definately not a good look.

SUNSHINE   May 28th, 2008 11:35 am ET

Ok I don't get this woman. She is pulling every trick in the book. I'm a true democrat and supporter of Obama. If Obama wasnt going to win the nomination I would have supported her. Now I must reconsider. Any person in there right mind can see that HRC is a few trees short of a forest. She is very flip-floppy on issues, she points fingers and is not a real team player. All in all she makes strong women appear weak. I am certainly not a fan of hers right now, and if by some catostrophic event she wins the democratic nomination… she has some work to do to convince a democrat like me to even vote this election.

PS: I WOULD NEVER CROSS PARTY LINES AND VOTE FOR MCCAIN

Obama will win the general election. Let's say what it really is…
He will not have problems with the white votes, most of his voters are white. He will only have problems with the racists votes.

We CANNOT afford a rookie, i.e. Obama as president - even if he has good intentions (i highly doubt) - the mans knows bugger all about being in any governmental office!!! HINT HINT!!! He is NOT capable.
Listen to him talk — he's only slightly better than Bush when it comes to public speaking!

Put him against McCain - and i guarantee a 3rd term for Mr. Bush through McCain!

Please people, STOP BEING SOOOOO NAIVE - this change you're being promised is NOT about making America a better place, quite on the contrary -

HE IS DIVIDING US - that's why these Blogs a full of people filled with hatred - full of people with no American pride - that's the Change he's talking about - he's dividing our nation!!!!

STOP SUPPORTING OBAMA!!!

Jaime   May 28th, 2008 11:34 am ET

It always amazes me to see the number of people saying that they'd vote for McCain over Obama if Hillary doesn't get the nod. It shows that these voters are clearly not voting based on issues, since there is little substantive difference between Obama and Hillary.

Either these people are:
1) willfully ignorant of the issues
2) willing to vote against their own positions on the issues due to other reasons (racism, ageism, irrational emotional involvement with a candidate).
3) genuinely unable to research and understand beyond platitudes.

Democracy works with a voting populace that is educated enough to vote with some rationale. This is why the first amendment is so important. The level of stupidity of many of the posters here makes me question the viability of democracy in America.

Still I have hope. I have hope that manyu of these posters are just trying to make a point and spin their views rather than actually beliving the idiocy they are spouting. I mean disingenuous people will eventually be rational actors in the voting booths. Idiocy - on the other hand - well we've had that for 7.5 years now.

Edwin, Fayetteville, NC   May 28th, 2008 11:34 am ET

The more she talks - the more I hate her. I do not want McCain - but I would never, ever, ever, ever vote for Hillary.

By the way I am a mid-50's woman so pollsters would say I should be in Hillary's menopausal support group and book club - never in a million years. If the Dems choose her they are in for a surprise: we are not all as dumb as you think.

Raleigh   May 28th, 2008 11:34 am ET

Keep positng the Clinton bashing comments CNN. Being the mouthpiece for Obama-bot Nation is making it alot easier to consider a McCain vote this Fall for Clintonites. I mean 4 years goes by so fast. Then Hillary can run again.

Whiteboy in PA   May 28th, 2008 11:34 am ET

I will never cast my vote to such a liar, evil and disgraceful woman in America……..Hillary the game is over.

Plee   May 28th, 2008 11:34 am ET

Hillary, If you believe in and respect democracy, then you understand that the people didn't vote for you as the democratic nominee.

Regardless whether you think you're the better candidate, clearly the people have spoken with their votes. It's not about what you want, it is about what we want.

Amazed   May 28th, 2008 11:34 am ET

It amazes me how much Hillary supporters think just like her. "If she's not on the ticket I'll just vote for McCain". How does this make any sense to anyone?? You would risk the lives and future of your children to show your diehard support of Hillary? Come on! I'd love to hear you explain your choice to your son/daughter or granddaughter/grandson in 2 years when they're sent to Iraq or homeless.

Also, I really can't believe the superdelegates would sit back and watch this unfold the way it is. I'm so scared for our country right now.

The only thing I’m asking myself is, “What possesses you, Hillary Clinton?” This is all about proving you can win, isn’t it? And exactly how you win doesn’t seem to matter to you. Your ambitions don’t appear to have anything to do with what’s best for the country or uniting the Democratic Party. Yes, this is an “unprecedented historic election,” so doesn’t that mean it can’t be compared to past elections in terms of how we identify those crucial swing states? Just look at the “swing states” where Obama has won – NM, NV and CO. Have you considered that in your analysis? If these were the Olympic trials, you would have been disqualified by now.

Melissa, MI   May 28th, 2008 11:33 am ET

I just have one question for Clinton and her supporters:

Explain how counting MI and FL fully isn't lying. I live in MI and I was told that my vote wouldn't count, so guess what, I didn't vote.

If the rules are changed, Clinton and the Democratic party will have lied to me.

Why do some people want to elect a blatant liar?

who is that? seriously, who is that? Hillary who? does that human being actually think it is capable of not only running the country effectively for the future but also pulling it out of the mess and becoming a global leader… Big picture: a superhero would have trouble being even remotely succesful and she is barely succesful at running her little program in ny in conjunction with a family. Lastly, she can't even convince her peers anymore to support her. If you can't sell yourself to the people close to you, you certainly can't succeed outside your own arena. Her campaigning is a joke and she is a momentum slob.

The Democratic Party has a long history of selecting loosers and If Hillary does not get this one it will be McCain, I guarantee it. Let's deal with reality people. You are in denial if you think that Obama can be elected. There is a significant number of people that will not vote for him in MERITs and unexperience rather than race but unfortunelly that will tilt the odds. THAT'S THE HONEST TRUTH AND WE ALL KNOW THIS!!! BUT GO ON ON YOUR HOPE HOOPLA…GO AHEAD!!!

Don't Vote   May 28th, 2008 11:33 am ET

Hillary; this is no longer about you. Please stop saying anything to damage your credibility next month when you're going to stand up to support Barak in the general election. Barak is nothing but generously nice to you everytime you insult (misspoke) him.
Barak is the new fresh breath of the political spectrum who is going to bring common sense back to the American way of life. He is way ahead of you into the general election campaign mode; don't try to call too much attention for yourself now, but you may stay until June 3rd quitely if you still want me to vote for you, incase it wouldn't work for Barak.

FedUp!   May 28th, 2008 11:32 am ET

Look, the veil has dropped Hillary. Let's unite the party and win this thing in Nov. The People HAVE spoken. Barrack is 48 away from clinching the nomination. She's still about 300 hundred away from it. The math didn't add for her then, and it sure isn't adding up for her now. All of these claims that she's the better nominee aren't helping the Party heal. Get over yourself Hill (like it or not) and swing your support to Barrack for a victory in Nov. Let's get this over with.

From a Soldier whose served 3 tours in Iraq and a tour in Afghanistan. Let's bring our Troops out of Iraq and focus our efforts where the real issue is. Afghanistan.

You can't get the nomination just because you have a self perceived "better chance" of winning. You have to actually have the delegates. That's the way it works. That's the way it's always worked. Get over yourself.

If the unbiased forecast from the analysts were off the mark, do we really expect the biased Clinton comments to be correct?

4) PLZ STOP DIVIDING AND DESTROYING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crazy Broad   May 28th, 2008 11:31 am ET

The crazier this broad Clinton gets, the nuttier her supporters get too. Whatever insane leaps of 'logic' she makes, her supporters are right there, pretending like it makes sense.

I used to wonder how anyone could support such a hypocritical, deceptive, delusional nut-job, but it's become clear through this nomination process - her supporters are just as nutty as she is.

Isn't it grand to have lots of "American dollars" and a few networks in your pocket? No wonder Mrs. Obama recently discovered that the good ol US of A has been good to the Obama family.

Also, why does it seem that CNN only allows negative comments about Senator Clinton? Very few, if any, about Senator Obama. Is it just my perception?

If it were not for the undemocratic caucus system, if all 50 states would have had primaries with popular votes (direct popular vote) counted then, Obama would not be winning. Obama does not represent the will of the democrats, Obama represents just the ability of extremist activists that are disconnected with the American people. As it happened with McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, Kerry and even Ted Kennedy that fought Jimmy Carter at the convention with only 700 delegates the Democrats will: loose the election.
To win, the Democratic party needs a candidate from the center not an extremist left wing liberal.

Mike D   May 28th, 2008 11:31 am ET

It’s amusing to watch this drowning campaign continue to kick, struggle, and gasp for air. What makes it even more amusing is to watch Clinton supporters do the same thing. Sorry things didn’t work out for you this year… NOT! It’s time for a change in America, and the only candidate capable of launching us into the 21st century is Obama.

I have voted Republican in most elections. I am a registered Independent. I don't LOVE any of the candidate's platforms completely, but I do know that I want a President that I can trust, that represents our country well in the world. I support Obama, and was actually considering voting for Clinton, but her continued lies and manipulation of our less educated population have turned my stomach. She continues to say what she thinks will get votes, rather than focusing on what we, as citizens, need to do to lift up this country. How sad.

Right now, my voting order is Obama, McCain…stay home. Both Bill and Hillary have lost this Independent voter.

Rick in Florida   May 28th, 2008 11:30 am ET

Her own people have admitted that its Hillary 1st, Party 2nd. The DNC has screwed up FL and MI and left the door open for Hillary to take the fight all the way to the Convention, which she has SAID she will do.

So its up to the SuperDelegates to CHOOSE next Wednesday, once and for all, and to give Obama the majority of undecided so that the numbers are SO LARGE against Hillary that she has no choice but to finally quit.

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Margeaux   May 28th, 2008 11:30 am ET

"She's right…Obama is nothing more than a clean "front man" in the Chicago political machine. A pretty face with no experience and no depth - never voting out on a limb, always non-confrontive and "safe."

How true. He will not win and we will be called racist and then we will see who is dividing the nation.

Oh, for those educated Obambites, it is "I coudn't care less", not "I could care less."

Ready on Day One? Day One for Hillary was when she voted to authorize President Bush to plunge our country into an unnecessary and disastrous war for oil.

She's got blood on her hands, and they don't belong in the White House.

Hillary - Obama has just gotten his 3-SD today! Keep going Hillary!

Jenny (former HRC supporter)   May 28th, 2008 11:30 am ET

I used to be a HRC supporter, but have decided that the same old routine really won't work any more. Someone said that if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll be where you've always been. America needs to head in a different direction.

I think Obama is our last best hope. He'll now have my vote come November.

Tyrone   May 28th, 2008 11:30 am ET

To Florida for Obama,

You say why waste time with Hillary and focus on McCain. Well, he's going to lose in Nov. anyway if he gets the nomination because Hillary's people will never vote for him. You all really should be careful with what you say about sen. Clinton. Her people are very determined and very ready to vote for John McCain. We are willing to endure 4 years of McCain until she can run again in 2012. He will never be president of this country. I will live in a swing state come the fall and I will not vote for Obama, and I'm black. Go figure!

Mary   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Hillary please take a look around and realize how stupid you look. You can't say you are more electable than the person that beat you.

Also, if sexism is so bad and the only reason you lost the DEMOCRATIC primary is because the country is not ready for a woman, then how will you win in the general election? Are all the sexists going to vote for you rather than the White Male War Hero? You are grasping at straws, lying and trying to throw the election.

I just hope and pray that the people of New York will throw you out of the Senate.

Ken in Denver   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

If HRC gets the DNC nomination, not only would she lose the election but the Democratic party would be destroyed. Her old-style overt pandering has become extremely unpalatable to the American public.

BobH   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

DUH? Will this woman tell any lie to get elected? What a shallow deceiving woman. QUESTION: why do pols spend upwards of $200 million doallars to get a job that pays $1 Million dollars a year?

Answer: CORRUPTION. Why does any pol run.

Viper2076   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

That is what politicians do. I don't think she should be talking at all. She is done. This is only hurting her chances for a run in the future.

No leg to stand on. It WAS admirable. It has just taken a turn towards PATHETIC.

Oracle99   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

I guess if you repeat something often enough you believe it. I don't know about anyone else however. This woman is one of the lowest slithering excuses for a politiican that I've seen in years. Hillary is a pariah, and is hurting the Democratic party by her actions. Does anyone have the nerve to stop her? She is truly desperate, and is only allienating more and more people by her words in the past few days. She is pathetic, and doesn't deserve the presidency or VP spot for that matter.

GoldenChica   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Why do we need to wait for Obama to make a mess so Hillary can clean it up. Just elect the best candidate in the ticket which is Hillary and avoid any mess.

Time to move on   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

To be candid this woman is delusional. Its not her fault it is those superdelegates that did not declare for whoever they want on time and stop this her craziness.Infact DNC as a party needs to put their house in order, why did they penalise if they know their penalty is only an empty threat.Anybody calling this Hillary behaviour fighting is as delusional as Hillary. This is nothing but pure DESPERATION AND EGOCENTRIC.
Let it be clear to you OBAMA is the next president of United state of America
GOD BLESS AMERICA,GOD BLESS BARACK OBAMA
OBAMA 08

Joe   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Her math is horrible with campaign finances and the delegate count. Like the country would trust Hillary with the federal budget?

I don't know what Hillary will best be remembered for - cowardly staying with Bill after the affair or trying to run the Democratic party into the ground in 2008.

Freedom of Speech   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

I see once again that my pro-Hillary comment was not posted!

HillBillLogic   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

"You have to ask yourself who is the stronger candidate?" she continued. "And based on every analysis of every bit of research and every poll that’s been taken and every state that a democrat has to win, I am the stronger candidate against John McCain in the fall."

Based on the Clintonian convoluted logic, we should not have elections and only polling. In essence, she is now arguing that the votes of the people should not count, but isn't she also arguing that all votes should count (Michigan & Florida); the clintonian interplay of opposites to confuse non thinkers. She fails to recognize that polling is based on a small representative sample and voting is the real thing and the voters have given Obama an insurmountable lead in pledged delegates. OBAMA 2008 and 2012

Casey   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Yeah she also thought she was the DNC front runner at the beginning of campagin. It is a pity she has even lost her own self respect

John   May 28th, 2008 11:29 am ET

She only polls better now because, at this moment, her followers are saying they will purposefully sabotage the democrats if Obama is the candidate. So in the McCain vs. Obama comparison there are many Hillary followers voting for McCain. Much less Obama supporters answer this way. After the primaries are over, you will see this all start to shift in favor of Obama.

Ironman in CT   May 28th, 2008 11:28 am ET

Hey B-NYC,

Why don't you tell us 5 successful things that HRC has done for this country?

Whitewater? Rose Law Firm Scandal? Voting for the Iraq War? Failed Health Care 92-2000? Not Beating Obama in the Primary?

If she is so great why is she behind? Because she is a behind and so are you!

Brandon   May 28th, 2008 11:28 am ET

Yes, lets go with hypothetical voting rather than listening to who the voters are actually voting for. That's BRILLIANT!

Debbie,NJ   May 28th, 2008 11:28 am ET

Hillary will lose to McCain because unlike Obama they will expose her.
The Republicans don't care about her and all of her baggage would come forth and she has a lot. The media doesn't even talk about it because Obama doesn't. Read your history people. Just because Hilllary can talk a good game, she knows how to play it, doesn't mean she would be good for this country. She will be spending more time dealing with her own dirty laundry than with the country's problems. As soon as the campaign is over whether she wins or losing she has a court case coming up.

Raven   May 28th, 2008 11:28 am ET

You Obamamorons are obnoxious. The obamantion that he is cannot beat McCan't! Hillary has the only chance to win the general. Besides whether you ppl like it or not, Hillary has the popular vote. Just like Presdient Gore did!

IT'S TRUE, IT'S TRUE, IT'S TRUE!!! Hillary is anything but dumb and she is right, Obama CANNOT win the general election. He is a defective candidate.
Stay in the race Hillary!!!

Mfelder   May 28th, 2008 11:28 am ET

Apparently, he was able to beat Senator Clinton, the most powerful name in this country. If Senator Clinton gets behind Barack as she says, then we will beat the Republicans this November.

Regarding the seating of the FL and MI delegates. If we seat the original delegation, that would mean seating 368 delegates. If we split the delegate in half, each candidates will receive 184 delegates. Let's say that Senator Clinton receive 60% of the remaining primaries, 86 delegates, she will receive 52 delegates and Barack will receive 34 delegates. If the goalpost to accommodate the FL & MI Delegation move to 2394. Here is where the candidates stand:

Barack
Delegates and SD 1978
FL & Mich Delegates 184
Last 3 Primaries 34
Total 2196

2394-2196 = 198 SD Needed for Nomination

Hillary
Delegates & SD 1781
FL & MI Delegates 184
Last 3 Primaries 52
Total 2017

2394-2017= 317 SD Needed for Nomination

199 SD Remaining

If the goalpost is changed to 2210, then barack needs 14 SD and Hillary needs 193 SD.

JT Johnson   May 28th, 2008 11:28 am ET

Most polls show Hillary as the stronger candidate to beat John McCain this fall. If the superdelegates pick Obama to be the democratic nominee, we can look forward to John McCain as our next president. More people want Hillary to be president then they do Obama. She leads in the popular vote.

EWE   May 28th, 2008 11:27 am ET

Ah, the cruel, dismissive words from "head in the sand" BO supporters. Sen. Clinton–the NOMINEE (even though somebody claimed it withou proof in the pudding).

BO's pledged delegate lead is from southern states that he will NOT win in Nov. SHOULD he be the nominee. His lead is also from red state caucus results.

Get real–look at the states Sen. Clinton won. She is clearly the popular vote winner (Florida and Michigan pop votes were certified by each state) and can "turn blue" many states that will not go for BO.

Super D's can step in, exercise independent judgment, and make the stronger GE contender our nominee. That is the purpose of the Super D.

BO has been downhill since late Feb. There is something to mometum and getting it right as the BO smoke and mirrors fade away. If he is the nominee, he will lose and it will be HIS fault and the DNC's fault–not that of Sen. Clinton. Lord knows she is trying to stop certain defeat by running against McCain in lieu of BO.

Seriously–great lake in Oregon, 57 states, Arabic in Afghanistan, uncle liberated X german camp–whatever. He also mis-voted or voted present SO many times in IL that this guy is just a prop.

What is it with Hillary? Why does she think it should matter that she believes that she's the better candidate? Every candidate believes that he/she is the best but that isn't what counts. If we follow her thinking, why bother to have any kind of contests any more? Let's just declare the biggest ego as the victor and dispense with trivial things such as elections.

Ree   May 28th, 2008 11:27 am ET

She is right. There is a big chance with obama that McCain will be president.

His true colors are starting to show. His lies are going to come back to haunt him. They have started already keeping his wife quiet. People are starting to see how he just wants to be the first black president. You think Sen. Clinton don't care well Obama and his wife are worse.

It's really not going to be about party but who has the most experience.
John McCain cares more about his country then Obama.

I am not an angry supporter of Sen. Clinton or a racist who is going to vote for John McCain. I just don't like the Obama's.

Of course she looks better now that no one is paying attention to her. Obama and McCain have set their eyes on the general election and are going back and forth ignoring her. So of course with no candidates attacking her, she would do better in polls. But people forget Hillary is the most divisive politician out there, and many people would show up in November just to vote against her. Not to mention, Obama did not attack her on many things that the Republicans would bring up in the general election. So while she may look better when she has no opposition, if she actually were to be the nominee, she would lose.

Christopher Kahandaliyanage,   May 28th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Hillary! You are such a shameless woman that will do anything in this world to beat a path to the Whitehouse - no matter what! You are talking nonsense to scare supporters of Obama by saying that he cannot win the general election, so that you could be placed as the candidate. Such desperate comments can only damage your already weak position and the party’s current momentum that leads in popularity. Why don’t you just quit and then shut your husband’s big mouth that serves no purpose what so ever.

Mark from IL   May 28th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Why don't we just skip the whole primary process and randomly select 1000 people from each State ask their opinion (poll) and select the nominee in this manner.

It seems Ms. Clinton is suggesting that the opinion of roughly 1000 people per poll greatly outweighs the votes of nearly 35,000,000 people and the nomination process the DNC has in place (which it seems to me all candidates agreed to before this whole process even began) .

It would certainly save alot of campaign $$. Wouldn't be nearly as time consuming either. (of course I personally wouldn't have as much fun reading all the comments!!)

Go Obama   May 28th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Stop that nonsense that Hillary is stronger.

Any democrat wil beat McSame by a wide margin sinse he represents Bush's 3rd term and a continuation of failed politics.

IT IS OUR FEEL (ONLY) THAT NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY, THIS COUNTRY WILL NOT LET THEM BACK INTO THE WHITE HOUSE. SO MANY IN THIS COUNTRY HAS NOT FORGOTTEN THEIR ACTIONS IN THE 90′S. THEIR GREATEST SUPPORTERS (BLACKS) IN GENERAL HAVE WASHED THEIR HANDS OF THEM. THE PERCENTAGES ARE AGAINST THEM. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH BLUE-COLLAR AND OLDER WHITES PERECENTAGE WISE TO PUT THEM IN THE WHITE HOUSE. THAT IS THE REALITY OF TRUTH. WHEN YOU BURN DOWN YOUR BRIDGES THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS. FURTHERMORE, WHAT COUNTRY CAN TAKE THEIR WORD WHEN THEY KNOW THEY WILL LIE. THOSE COUNTRIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST FOR WHATEVER IT IS WORTH ONLY DEAL WITH THE TRUTH. THE SAD THING ABOUT OUR COUNTRY IS THAT WE WILL ACCEPT A LIE (MIS-SPEAK, LACK OF SLEEP, TIRED, ETC.)

JS   May 28th, 2008 11:26 am ET

We know you will definitely lose considering the type of campaign you ran. Obama will do just fine.

More and more people who already voted for Hillary have switched to Obama.

What Hillary needs to concentrate on is to exit the race. She needs to leave campaigning to candidates that are viable. She is no longer a viable candidate.

When she exists the Democratic Party can begin to heal from her NEGATIVE campaigning and come together.

Cat   May 28th, 2008 11:26 am ET

The only way Hilary could win by anyone's math is if she get sthe DNC to change the rules. What does that say for the type of President she would be?

Hillary doesn't like the numbers she sees for the national debt so she changes them to numbers she likes just by her say so? Oh wait! That's already been done.

Hillary doesn't like the numbers in Iraq so she changes them to ones she likes better without actually ending the war? Oh wait! That's already been done.

She doesn't like the vote count in FL so she demands a recount to numbers she likes better? Oh wait! That's already been done too!

I don't mind her staying in the race until the end of the primaries, but Hillary is tarnishing her legacy every single time she opens her mouth these days. She and her surrogates' spin jobs rival that of the Bushies on Iraq. It's just sad.

The bottom line is that in the nomination process, the popular vote, which Obama is winning anyway, is not the thing — it's the delegate count. This thing will be over June 4, and hopefully the Clintons will face reality so we can move on to the business of beating McCain and creating a filibuster-proof majority in Congress.

NYC Native   May 28th, 2008 11:24 am ET

In your dreams, Hillary.

Fabian Philip   May 28th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Someone needs to remind HRC that by the rules of the contest, she has to beat Obama first for a shot at McCain. If she can't do that in the primaries and caucauses, we just can't turn around and hand her the nomination. If we did that, there would have been no need for all the primary contests. We could have simply asked all interested candidates to submit their CVs and a sample of polls supporting their strenghts, invite them for personal interviews before the Supers, and have the Super delegates vote. But, the reality is that we still have nominating contests that you have to win by established rules and HRC has failed in that regard.

David S   May 28th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Hillary has made the race about herself rather than the party. She had her chance to win and couldnt make it happen. It is now time for her to STOP DAMAGING the certain democratic nominee and get her supporters to go all out for him.

This election has really impacted my opinion of the democratic process.I will reserve judgment but it appears that Democracy no longer provides for the "voice of the people" to be heard; just the voice of a few super delegates. Elections are "bought". Makes me question who is doing the buying and why.
The entire process should be revamped. With the technology of today, the process should start and end in a specified time frame and campaign budget limit and then all of the states should hold their primaries within 6 - 8 weeks. Too many voters don't have the opportunity to voice their opinion. The Republican primary has been over for months. Numerous states didn't even get a chance to vote! Let's get back to majority rules!

Hillary shouldn't be making such statments at the 11th hour. Such divisive stamenets shouldn't be made while it is evident that she should be sunsetting her campaign and usher the way for the likely nominee of the democratic party. What a selfish and myopic approach - very unexpected for somone nagging 280 million for more than 15 months as someone ready to be commander-in chief on day one. She never thought for a minute what her legacy will be after leaving the campaign trail. What will she do after all is over? All stuff has shifted around - national popularity, relationship with the black community and close superdelgate friends who ended up endorsing Obama.

She's basing everything on research, on polls, on statistics. But people voting for Obama are basing everything on human instinct and gut. If an analytic computer were voting, yes, maybe she'd be the candidate. I like Hillary, but the best thing she could do is support the people's momentum behind Obama and give him a better chance to win. She's not coming off as much of a team player, but uncomfortably overeager just to get into the white house.

This is why she can't be on the ticket with Obama. There was never anything wrong with her staying in the campaign but why would you speak negatively of your own party rival? This in itself is unethical.
If Obama wins she will not help him just like she and her husband didn't help Al Gore. She has caused the division that there is in the democratic party because of her tactics. If we lose to McCain it will be because of that.

Careful Hillary linton. You are killing yourself. This is a last drop. You are done.

Mama for Obama   May 28th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Again, she's lying…as usual.

I will be glad when this is over. SHE is the one in a fantasy land and this will be good experience for her to lose–to actually NOT get her way.

Imagine this woman as a 2-year-old. I wonder what her parents did to her to mess her up like this.

skat   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Seriously this woman needs to shut up before she destroys the Dem. Party and any hopes for beating McSame. What's her problem??

I repeat the same comment I posted the other day that was removed by the CNN comment police:

Would someone please show her the door!

I want to invite all past Clinton voters to join all of us in Barack Obama's Campaign. We are stronger together than apart.

Let's go in a new, united direction!

Independent white woman for Obama   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Doesn't this woman hear herself?
She always plays the victim, is so divisive, and her negative rating so high. Hillary and McBush are the same old Washington insiders.
We need new blood in Washington.

Lorna, NY   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Can someone give her a tranquilizer! I am really sick of her. i don't know about anyone else, but, the more she talks, the more I dislike her. I have lost all respect for the Clintons.

Environment   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

She's sure trying……

Harry Crumb   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

As proof of how stupid the Clinton campaign is getting, they honestly want Superdelegates to overturn the will of the people and pledged delegates by nominating HRC based on the MOST RECENT POLLS????

Hey Billary, its MAY, polls dont mean SQWAT!!! Polls change as frequently as the goal-posts your inept campaign has set up.

But hey, Hillary is leading in SOME polls (not all) now, so we should definitely throw out the ENTIRE PRIMARY PROCESS and just elect "The Monster" based on gallup polls!

No more Rigged Elections in America   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

to Tom.

What this article fails to mention is that CO, NV, and NM were swing states for Bill Clinton, and not the far left liberal democrats that the democratic party keeps nominating.

We Cannot win with a candidate on the left.. Hillary is a moderate democrat who can win the swing voters. You people are so stubborn.

The funny thing is if you would have voted Hillary, she would have picked Obama as VP and we could have had 16 years of democrats in the White House.

You liberals, blacks and youth are so self centered that you cannot see past your nose.

Superdelegates wake up. Force a Clinton/Obama ticket.

What if?   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Hillary is so sad, she claims she can beat McCain in November, Please DNC leaders remember that Obama has won this nomination fair and square. To continue to let Clinton go around to different states making claim that can’t be predictable, especially the claim that Obama can’t beat McCain in November is unfair and wrong, wrong, wrong. So every voters who followed the rules and voted for Obama are to believe she can predict the future now?

In “2004” we loss when everyone thought we were going to win with John Kerry and John Edwards on the ticket as our STRONG nominees for the democratic party, WE WERE WRONG. That’s why we the voters feel these so call claims by Clinton that she is the strongest candidate between her and Obama to beat McCain are not legit. Let’s suppose that most of the votes she received during the past primaries were mostly republicans that will vote for McCain in November anyway, this questions should leaves a lot of room for doubt for such a candidate to claim since the election in November has not taken place.

DNC leaders I hope and pray you do the honorable thing on Saturday and give Obama our winning votes that he be our nominee. If her claim of him losing in November happens then she would be the reason for our loss. The democratic voters victory would have been totally different if she would had did what she said she would do, and that was to support the winning nominee and help unite party. The democratic, new republicans, new independences and ects… would have voters democrat in November….. THE ENDDDDDDD.

For all who are curious as to why Clinton won't give up…..including the "I am voting for Hillary no matter what group" should go to CNN Commentary Rolland Martin. That will give you your answer."Clinton first…party second" She is disgusting and should be ashamed to call herself an american and stand there and lie about how she cares for the people of this country.

Bob (Pittsburgh, PA)   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Shut up Hillary, nobody likes you.

Lynne - Seattle WA   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

I must say that I am very disappointed in Ms. Clinton's behavior. I use to think she was an intelligent strong woman. Now all I see is a petty petulant child trying to get everyone to pay attention to her by any means possible, including trying to make others look bad so she looks good. It is very very sad!

Vote Hillary   May 28th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Good job for Hillary for not giving up. She is definitely the best candidate for the job. She definitely has more experience over Obama and if he wins the primaries, this will be a big issue in the general election. Also, Obama always speaks so vaguely about issues. He never gives a solid answer. Hillary 08

I'm sorry, but I am tired of whinny liberals screaming about FL and MI. THEY BROKE THE RULES. I mean let me translate in liberalese, "If someone does something that is outside the bounds of the rules, they should not be forgiven just to "spare" their feelings." There are consequences when you misstep. FL and MI voters should realize that Clinton did not care about their voices when she was winning, but now their votes somehow matter. FL and MI voters with a beef should argue with their state leaders because that is who made their votes invalid.

I have many Republican friends that would vote for Obama, but not for Clinton. Oh
