Fleischer calls for explanation from McClellan

Ari Fliesher said something doesn't make sense about McClellan's new book.
Ari Fliesher said something doesn't make sense about McClellan's new book.

(CNN) - Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan’s predecessor, Ari Fleischer, said in a Wednesday statement that “There is something about [McClellan’s new] book that just doesn’t make any sense.”

Fleischer said McClellan had been an “always reliable, solid deputy” during his own White House tenure – but “not once did Scott approach me – privately or publicly – to discuss any misgivings he had about the war in Iraq or the manner in which the White House made the case for war.

“Scott himself repeatedly made the case for the war from the podium and even after he left the White House… If Scott had such deep misgivings, he should not have accepted the press secretary position as a matter of principle.”

Fleischer also said the book had changed dramatically from the way it had first been described to him, and that many of the passages did not sound like his former colleague, hinting that perhaps an editor had been responsible for the shift in tone.

“Nevertheless, it is Scott’s book and I want to hear his explanation for why he has had such a dramatic change in his point of view,” said Fleischer, who added that he continued to wish McClellan well on a personal level.

Ari Fleischer is a low life. I guess he is saying, if McClellan couldn't spew Bush's lies as asked without feeling guilty about it, he shouldn't have taken the job. Maybe he is right. It takes a certain type of lying, corrupt and disingenuous person to be the president's press pawn.
Ari Fleischer should know. And now all of Bush's cronies are doing the attack thing on McClelland. Typical tactics we have seen before. Attack when you have no way to defend. These people make me ill.

Shut up, Fleischer! We've had a bellyful of your nonstop spin and evasiveness over the years. McClellan doesn't owe anyone in this corrupt administration anything, but you and the rest of this worst administration in history owe the public plenty after all the crap you've pulled since 2001! Shut up and disappear forever!!!

Ofcouse McClellan wouldn't have said anything negative while performing his job. That would've ended his role as Press Secretary then and there. Fortunately he stayed in there so now "We the People" can learn what happened behind closed doors. I would never show dissent at my job publicly or privately either. Just because he didn't show his misgivings doesn't mean they didn't exist. I for one hope every cover-up from the last 8 years gets exposed. It's not like Presidential Cover-ups don't exist, it's just satisfying when they become public.

Oh Ari, give it a rest. You know in your heart that what McClellan says is true. You're just still following the party mantra and backing up Bush & Cheney & Rumsfeld & especially Karl Rove. They are NOT going to do you any good in a few more months, so you don't owe them a thing. Trust me, they won't step up for you.

McClellan didn't step up because he was being duped and was probably scared to death to cross the Cheney/Bush/Rove machine. To have questioned anything would have been immediate dismissal and retribution.

Sounds to me like you're just still living in la-la land and being used by those master charlatans.

The reason Bush was elected twice was largely due to the left-wing opposition he faced in tree-hugger Gore and in Mrs. Heinz's husband. Apparently the Democrats never learn: look at what they are offering this time.
