Dole to McClellan: You're a 'miserable creature'

Dole is not happy with McClellan.

(CNN) – Bob Dole is furious with Scott McClellan's public criticisms of the Bush administration, telling the former White House Press Secretary in an e-mail Thursday he is a "miserable creature" who is "spurred on by greed."

"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don’t have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in the personal e-mail. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."

Dole spokesman Michael Marshall confirmed the authenticity of the e-mail, first reported by Politico and obtained by CNN.

Dole, the former Senate Majority Leader and 1996 Republican presidential nominee, also tells McClellan he is likely looking to "clean up" as "the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm."

"When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, 'Biting The Hand That Fed Me,'" he wrote. "Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years."

Dole also made clear he has no plans to read the book.

"I have no intention of reading your 'exposé' because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man, or quit your cushy, high profile job," he wrote. "That would have taken integrity and courage but then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively."

"You're a hot ticket now but don't you, deep down, feel like a total ingrate?"

I think John Dean said last night, the louuder they gripe, the closer to the mark Scott really is. Scott is in for one bad ride, but at least his conscience is clear. Bob Dole, take it easy, your going to have a stroke.

That should be why don't you force your commenters to stay on topic? Also, rather than just covering this story in a mindless he said, she said fashion maybe you could do a story looking into McClellan's claims, as well as his opponent's claim that's he's a greedy pig?

    You know...be journalists?

Dole.. Old.. When was telling the truth a bad thing. It is important for our leaders to start taking accountability given all the lives lost in this "Unneccsary War"

I hope McClellan did this to get it off of his concious.

Why, because he is telling the truth? I personally believe him and next to Hillary Clinton, there is no political regime more dangerous than the Bush Administration. Each person affliated with either one of the above should be tried and imprisioned for treason.

First, all honor and respect to Dole. He is a war hero and a great American.

But now, Dole once said, during his presidential campaign, "Where is the outrage". McClellan's book shows us what really happening. Dole should direct
a large part of his anger towards the WH.

I am sick to death of the self righteous Republicans. EVERYONE is lying who speaks against this Admin, ONLY Republcans who praise this admin are truthful. I am SICK, SICK, SICK of BOTH parties. Time to REVOLT fellow citizens and form a GOOD 3rd party who really LOVE this county and not a freakin PARTY.

Scott is miserable- for waiting so long to take a stand and speak out the truth.

Fact is, he was for Bush, misread Bush, fell for Bush's lies... and now he is for Obama and is misreading Obama as well and has fallen for new lies.

    No to Scott's choice, Obama.

This man sees the truth of things belatedly.

Dole is a "miserable person" who believes that the protection of a corrupt White House's protection from letting the public know to the good of the country. How many people have died, both Iraqis and Americans because of the Bush White House putting greed over the people.

    Shame on you Dole.

Dole's comments show through their vehemence and smallness, that in fact, he never had the qualities to lead our country. He should just go back and lead a silent life into oblivion.
