(CNN) – Bob Dole is furious with Scott McClellan's public criticisms of the Bush administration, telling the former White House Press Secretary in an e-mail Thursday he is a "miserable creature" who is "spurred on by greed."
"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don’t have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in the personal e-mail. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."
Dole spokesman Michael Marshall confirmed the authenticity of the e-mail, first reported by Politico and obtained by CNN.
Dole, the former Senate Majority Leader and 1996 Republican presidential nominee, also tells McClellan he is likely looking to "clean up" as "the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm."
"When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, 'Biting The Hand That Fed Me,'" he wrote. "Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years."
Dole also made clear he has no plans to read the book.
"I have no intention of reading your 'exposé' because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man, or quit your cushy, high profile job," he wrote. "That would have taken integrity and courage but then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively."
"You're a hot ticket now but don't you, deep down, feel like a total ingrate?"

Tell em Bob,
Vote McCain or join the insane (Liberals)..
Now this weasel is backing Obama.....seems all the scum does :)
CNN – Why do you stop allowing people to post comments after 31 posts? makes no sense!
I don't care what Bob Dole has to say!
Hey Bob... Catch!
well at least McClellan is better than the ingrates like Bush, Cheney,
Rumsfeld, Rice and MCSame who started and continue this
illegal and immoral war and continue to put the lives of noble troops at risk...... so put that in your pipe Dole and smoke it!!!
Now I know why I always liked Bob Dole.
Funny how none of these Republicans are contesting the contents of the book, only blasting its author. My conservative colleagues have questioned Bush's truthfullness for the past 6 years, anyway.
Wow – Bob Dole is actually pretty funny. Who would have known?
Bob Dole is a has been, it looks like he's the ones trying to soak up the limelight!
The same can be said for Bush and his cronies...."No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with some speeches to "replenish the old coffers."..........please
Not sure what the impact of this book will have on the presidential race. What's encouraging is that senator Obama has been endorsed by THREE former SEC chiefs, two of which are republicans and the third one served under the Clinton administration.
Again, this shows you what senator Obama can do to move this country forward through bipartisanship.
GO Obama 2008
Who is Bob Dole? Never heard of him!! Another conservative?
Please, Mr. Dole give me a break. You are bashing Scott for comming forward now, but it don't seem to bother you that over 4,000 americans have died because of the lies that countless peopel in this miserable administration made up. I wonder who sleeps better at night..........Scott or Karl Rove
How very Christian of you Bob Dole
Scott McClellan did the right thing. Bob Dole and the other Republican supporters will follow and lie for the Bush administration until the bitter end.
G. Bush invoked "Hitler" when he spoke in Israel, comparing appeasement to getting rid of tyrants. Bush believed that many democrats were aiding these tyrants in some perverted way.
Now, Scott McClellan comes out to say he was part of a Bush regime which basically runs itself on tyranny. All of the Bush hard core followers are staying with the tyrant. Just like the followers of "Hitler" did.
Praise to Scott McClellan and to all who break away and tell all about a regime built on tyranny and fear, regardless of your party.
I think it is Dole who is the "miserable creature". Scott did nothing but tell the truth. Most people feel that the war was wrong and know that they were lied to, so, what is wrong with him saying it. At the end of Scott's life he has to answer to GOD, not Bush and Dole. Maybe he really felt a need to make amends now.Besides, no one is saying the book is not true, which should tell us something!
Bob Dole shows what Republicans of made of Politics and division above good goverance; beside he's irrelevant at this point even for Viagra commercials.
I want to see the email.
I like Bob Dole, but he's got this wrong. The miserable creatures are Rove, Rumsfeld, and Cheney. Bush is just a miserable failure.
Out of the mouths of Republicans comes garbage......starting at the White House.
THAT'S OKAY STAY LOYAL YOU REPUBLICAN TRAITORS.....
HAHAHA!! Thank you very much Scott!! So many Bush insiders have left and told stories of corruption and deception, but yet they are always called looney. I hate this administration, and I think more insiders are going to come forward in the future!
SET COORDINATES FOR BOB DOLE
Now McClellan hints at supporting Obama. Good for him – we don't need this weasel in the Republican party. Obama can him any day – the disloyal piece of shmack.
No one has yet to attack Scottie on what he is saying in his book!
They are attacking him for telling his side of his story in the white house!
We troops are to stay in Iraq and die for a lie!
Go Bam! Love how all the republicans are marching out on this! The truth shall set you free!
Bob, don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.
