Brian Knoxville, TN
So honestly you are already a Republican, and will vote Republican as you always have.

Some of us have to stick to the issues that we have to live with because of our own selfish needs, issues important to us is gas, health care, SS, Employment. We were for Clinton but she didn't win the nominee, so some of us put aside our selfish wants and will vote for our democratic nominee. To those of you that are rich like the Clinton's and McCain, I already know you care nothing about my lack of riches. When she encouraged her supporters to lobby tomorrow, that showed me she cared nothing about my daily task and that is to figure out how to afford gas to look for a job, health benefits and ect....

I never want to be a token just for bragging rights for their own selfish agenda, no way. It made me realize that she is the one out of touch with the average Americanas. Every cent I get has to be used wisely, not to travel to Washington to protest and then have to figure out how my family is going to eat afterwards. I guess it is true......the rich always feel they are entitled to be in Power of something...look at Bush & Chaney.....already had money, thanks to Congress they have added to their billions from the gas and oil since the war. If I’m not mistaken I do believe the Clintons also profited during this time.

While I too want the troops home as soon as possible---I want them home with the honor they deserve. 4000+lost lives and thousands more severely injured is worth the honor and respect of a grateful nation. In this matter, as an independent, I trust McCain to do this correctly---not OBama. There is no better person, than one who himself has been in a war to recognize both the sacrifice and the honor----Obama is a hopeless case of say anything to get elected. Obama is a bag of wind, who thinks he appeals to the conscience of Americans when he chants change-yes we can. Should he become the anointed nominee of the party, millions like myself with either vote McCain, or will not vote at all. The DNC party chairs have got to be more than stupid not to see this. Well......run him against McCain, and you folks will be looking for yet ANOTHER candidate to win come 2012.
Clinton has a much better credentials to challenge McCain, and even then it will be a brutal battle, but at least she has a better chance to win---not OBama

I bet you got a far better treatment when you got back from Vet Nam. That was then and this is now, so why are you fighting against improving the benifits for the troops today.
You disgrace the uniform you wore with this kind of position on the better benifits. I lost family in our uniforms in stupid wars and you push for it to go on and on.
Just finish it and stop with this surrender crap. We trade with Vet nam and we didn't surrender , we just got out after 50,000 + dead. Don't wait, we lost too meny of our youth
God Bless All Of Them

"Even after all five surge brigades leave, experts estimate there will still be about 10,000 more troops in Iraq than there were prior to the January surge.

On a conference call with reporters, McCain’s campaign accused the Obama campaign and the press of “nitpicking” verb tenses."

WELL, WELL, WELL AMERICAN FAMILIES, WHICH ONE OF THOSE 10,000 BELONGS TO YOU? JOHN MCCAIN THINKS IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE.... 10...10,0000...WHO'S NITPICKING?? HIS SON COMES HOME ASAP!

AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY IS NOT SYNONIMOUS WITH IRAQ
American leadership is not about just Iraq. It is about the leading the world. Senator McCain's narrow Iraq-agenda is not what America needs now at the time the world is looking up to America to lead again. One does not need to go to Iraq to know that American people want our men and women in uniform to return home as soon as possible. Senator McCain can travel to Iraq every day, but his narrow belligerent view will not solve Iraqi’s complex socio-cultural-politico-religious problems. There is no military solution to the Iraqi problems. America needs to rally and lead the world to help the Iraqi people solve their problems at their pace. The person that has the charisma and the leadership to rally America and the world to tackle world problems including Iraq with a refreshed perspective is senator Obama.

All of a sudden Obama is taking an interest in going to Iraq? This guy does whatever benefits him politically, whether it's responding to criticism or not. The more I hear, watch and read about him, the less authentic he becomes.

Well if there will still be 10,000 above the pre-surge level then we obviously have not returned to the pre-surge level have we. Someone needs to get the story straight. Either we are at pre-surge levels or we are 10k above. Which is it?

McCain can't be serious about troop levels. If he insist Iraq is paradise and he can walk around without vest or up armored protection he's crazy.

He's also forgeting his comments he made about having a stroll through downtown Baghdad like if it was Sunday in Central Park. Surely these are signs of Alzeihmer's disease.

"and has avoided a fact-finding visit to Iraq for over 872 days".....Sen Obama, you don' have to go to Iraq and you don't have to sit with Gen Petraeus to understand whats going on in Iraq. This war started a little over 5 years ago and is poised to last at least another five and cost as many American lives.....A war that should never have been authorized...While major combat operations are over, there is an ongoing civil strife which we cannot stop unless the Iraquis themselves come to a serious political compromise with all factions. even the mere threat of Obama becoming president and immediately withdrawing our troop plays a significant role in presurring the Iraquis to improve and fix their matters.Mccain basically offers a blank check to Nouriki and opes o emerge the winner in the cat and mouse game with the insurgents and Al quaida. It is a game that the U.S cannot win.

Yes, to all Obama haters who says "If not Hillary I will vote McCain"- The Jersaldine Ferraro type democrats.

This was on another thread. Read this carefully and cast your vote for McCain for another 100yrs in Iraq and for the Draft. Good luck.

Army Veteran Against McCain May 30th, 2008 4:20 pm ET

Reasons why Veterans, active duty personell, and anyone who cares about them should not vote for McCain:

*AWOL for May 22nd vote on GI Bill. Expressed opposition to bill saying "it was too generous to Veterans".

*Voted against Bill in September that would have mandated adequate rest for troops between combat deployments.

*Voted No on $1.5-billion increase for Veteran Medical services (money would have come from closing corporate tax loophole).

*Voted No on establishing a trust fund to bolster underfunded Veteran Hospitals.

*Voted No in May 2006 against $20-billion allotment for expanding Veteran Medical Facilities.

*Voted No in April 2006 to increase Veteran Outpatient care.

*Voted No in March 2004 another $1.8-billion reserve for Veteran Medical care (again funded by closing corporate tax loopholes).

Bottomline, McCain is more interested in taking care of big business then the men and women he wrongly sent to fight in Iraq.

What does it matter if McCain "misspoke" ?
How many times can he "misspeak" before it becomes painfully obvious that the man doesn't hane a clue unless he has Joe Leiberman whispering the answers in his ear.
It's quite obvious that McCain wants to fight a war he knows nothing about, wants to run an economy he knows nothing about, and rule a country he knows nothing about.
Maybe, just maybe, he should stick to what he knows best - marrying for money and making a fool of himself on S.N.L.

This is troubling to me. Both sides are arguing over semantics and campaign tactics, but no one is getting down to the real issues about the war. Democrats still want to argue about how we got into the war (an interesting topic, but completely irrelevant to how we proceed) and Republicans want to "win" (though they have failed to really define what winning even means).

We're in the process of losing two wars and no one wants to talk about it. Obama and Hillary have no relevant experience and McCain is seeming increasingly out of touch with reality. Will we never have a President who gets it?

John McCain seems to get his facts mixed up. We can't afford these slips in the most powerful office in the world.

With respect to the people that would betray their core beliefs to symbolically punish Obama by supporting McCain since Clinton failed to clinch the Democratic nomination, I hope I never meet you in my lifetime...you really need to be honest with yourself about why you would make a decision to support an uncessary war, a failed economy, homophobic, pro-life, and anti-immigration presidential candidate.

I guess having similar characteristics are more important on the outside than inside. If you support HRC today, there is no way in hell you can turn around and support John McCain.

It is time for Hilary to bow out of the race and start supporting Obama against McCain. Her staying in the race appears to me that her first interest is in her goal to occupy the White House rather than to make things better for the American people. Her strong support of Obama
would strengthen the position of the democratic party tremendously and bring around any hesitant voters.
The sooner this happens the better of we are.

Despite his years in the senate, McCain remains a one-trick pony with no real grasp of even the issues he claims to have an edge in. Foreign policy is about much more than managing conflict and the last thing America needs is a re;lc of the past taking us down that same path that has resulted in continuous failure in foreign policy. After Bush there is a dire need for America to restore it's credibility on the world stage.

Many Republicans didnt have a problem with politically connected figures saying things like Katrina was punishment from God, or worse. I guess so long as they wave the American flag when they say such things its ok. Perhaps Obama's pastor should have been wearing a flag lapel. Then maybe everything would be ok.

Also, John McCain got the troop numbers wrong. That in itself really wasnt that bad since it could have easily been corrected and it would be no big deal. Certainly no longer than 24 hours. But he wouldnt do that. Clinton sometimes does the same thing and wont own up to an error. So does Obama. Its all politics.

It is amazing to me that before every single primary, there is something about what someone said who is affiliated with Obama appears in the news? Does anyone notice this or is it just me? Why is the media inflating what these pastors are saying? Gas is $4.03 where I live and there is nothing about a pastor that is more important than this. The media should treat us like adults and give us the news that will affect our lives. After this election, I will not longer watch the news, or cable news until they start treating me like an intelligent adult.

McCain might be right in what he said, he just neglected to say more troops are being deployed. I believe those troops were scheduled to leave anyway and others are coming in. 14,000 have been called up in VT and being sent over. There are another 10,000 somewhere else.Think he forgot that part.

The best way to honor and support the troops is to field the strongest and most qualified Democratic candidate, not to field the feel-good candidate whose says

"Change You Can Believe in"

rather than

"Solutions You Can Take to the Bank Because I Will Fight 24 Hours a Day Every Day for the Next 8 Years to Realize Change and Achieve Solutions for Every American."

This election is not a game, folks. It's not American Idol where you vote for someone you know nothing about because you like, well, whatever it is you like about him

HILLARY CLINTON '08
The most qualified person with the best ideas running for President of the United States

McCain might as well go to Disney Land as go to Iraq. He lands in a bubble and pretends he is in the middle of the war zone then touts it like he really knows what's going on over there. Apparently he doesn't.

Why don't we hear more about Pastor Hagee/Pastor Parsley? I would like more information on these churches and their members. Like, are there any politicians among them? If so, are they expected to leave their church. Who is supporting these two churches.

Why wasn't this an issue when George Bush was in Office? Didn't
Pastor Hagee support George Bush?

Why are we so bias CNN?

Since Hillary wants to punish Barack Obama with the Michigan Delegates because he listened to the DNC and followed the rules, then I think Hillary should be punished with the Florida Delegates for NOT following the rules.

According to party rules, Hillary should not receive any Delegates from Florida. Party rules state that the definition of campaigning also includes events thrown by a candidate in which registered voters are invited. Hillary had four fundraisers in Florida in which registered voters were invited and the last one she attended the night before the primary election.

So then following the party rules, Hillary should not receive any of the Florida Delegates.

McCain actually made a double gaffe. On the day he declared Mosul to be "quiet," two car bombs exploded and tragically killed two Iraqi policemen along with civilians.

Obama's church is backing Hillary Clinton. That whole priest thing was staged (2 different camera angles just like a television taping). The demographics of his church are the demographics of Clinton supporters - old, out of touch people. Some will probably vote for McCain.

McCain was endorsed by rent-a-preacher who he had to rebuke for silliness. And now this priest clowns it up in church and everybody wants to blame Obama. Catholics are angry with Obama because one of their priest dissed Hillary. Shame on you.

That is how twisted this election is. McCain doesn't have the basic understanding of Iraq. He wants Obama to go to Iraq to see what? That Iraq is a bad idea. Anybody can tell you that.

Next thing you know they're going to blame the war on Obama, too.

Funny, this gets buried by a Obama preacher dustup. This is not just the troop issue, this is about his competence to be President. This is not the first time he has spoke about Iraq and been not inaccurate, but wrong to the point of lying to the press and they brush it off. You need to tie this the his pleasant walk through the Iraqi market, you know the one where he said anyone could walk and not be afraid. Show some spine for once and do some investigative reporting. Dont bury this 10 minutes laters with some BS about a preacher.

So, McCain cannot count either. Sad, very sad. Of course, sadder still is the so-called Democrat above wanting to vote for this tripe.
