McClellan hints at supporting Obama

Could McClellan be supporting Obama.
Could McClellan be supporting Obama.

(CNN) – Could Scott McClellan be an unlikely supporter of Barack Obama?

In several interviews with media organizations Thursday night, the former White House press secretary hinted that he was strongly leaning toward the Illinois senator's White House bid over his own party’s presumptive nominee.

McClellan, a former White House official who has angered several Republicans this week for his scathing critique of the Bush Administration, said he hasn't made an official decision on which candidate he will back, but offered that he is "intrigued by Sen. Obama's message."

"It's a message that is very similar to the one that Gov. Bush ran on in 2000," McClellan told CBS News.

The former White House press secretary struck a similar tone in an interview with USA Today, saying that he is attracted to both party's likely nominees.

"I have a lot of respect and admiration for Sen. McCain," he said. "I'm also intrigued by Sen. Obama."

McClellan, who played a key role in the president's 2000 campaign, isn't the first member of Bush's inner circle to express support for Obama. In 2007, former Bush strategist Matt Dowd also said he had become disillusioned with the president and said Obama was the only candidate that appealed to him.

I don't understand what everyone thinks is so stunning about this man's book. He basically said a few things that unless you have lived under a rock for 30 years should not be any shocking surprise to you. The administration bungled the response to Katrina....gee ya think? Thanks for breaking that news! The administration used "propoganda" to go to war. Every time any president or politician says anything it is "propaganda". Do you know what the definition of propaganda is....it is the spreading of information and no that information does not need to be false.

If I'm Barack Obama, I tell Scottie boy NO THANKS!!! Obama doesn't need support from this guy. If he was so upset about the lies and manipulations leading up to the Iraq war why didn't he go public then and save 4000+ lives. Noooo, it's easier to write a book, go on the talk show circuit aqnd make a ton of money.

I have no respect for this guy. Ratting out the Bush White House is fine with me but he should have been a man a nd done it long ago. Alot of families would be much happier today if he had.

i just watched your "discussion" about Chicago politics. I will be watching more and more MSNBC !!!
I did not realize that Tony was as stupid as Campbell, an OBVIOUS Clinton supporter and racist to boot ,but I guess whatever illness you all have is spreading !!!

I have tried to stick with you....but have been forced to turn away after Campbell's repeated interuptions of Roland Martin and her rude and racist attacks on Donna Brazile.
I thought the mornings were safe. I was wrong. That alleged "conversation", smug, uninformed and unprofessional was the last straw.

So Obama is running a similar campaign to Gov. Bush in 2000? Gov. (now President) Bush has been SO successful I'm sure Americans will vote for someone else who promotes "change" with no experience and we'll end up with more years of ineptitude. When will America wake up and realize that experience does matter and speeches without substance just don't get the job done?

In case anyone wonders, I'm a life-long Demorcrat who is disappointed in my party's direction.

If any of the information given in his book is true and some if not all does appear to be – then the whole country should be for Senator Obama. The Republicans will have misled the country and as such need to know that it is unacceptable and the only way is through voting and/or going after prosecution of those involved.

McClellen has been bitten by the Obama bug. Most of his supporters know what I'm talking about. It's that defining moment when you hear Obama speak and he is saying ALL the things you have been saying for the last 8 years. It sends chills down your spin and the feeling of Hope rushes through you and something inside says this Man is special. I felt that way about Obama after Iowa. To see the sea of people and the looks on their faces.....because we all want the same thing. I don't care if he was White or Black or Male or Female. It was his message that was important. Obama is far from perfect but his ideas for changing Washington are. As far as I'm concern Obama is ALREADY changing Washington. He is the leader, he has been saying the same message since he was in Chicago. The slogan hasn't changed, his staff hasn't changed, the money is flowing...Hilllary and McCain are scrambling around trying to catch up and clean house.

Unfortunately we have to wait to feel that way again because Hillary won't get out the race!!!!!

"Socialist/Marxist" – What are you 100 years old?

Do you just toss those silly words out when you disagree with a policy position or are you able to expound on specific instances in Obama's plan that you consider "Socialist/Marxist"?

It's not enough to just parrot 50 year old talking points, Mary. It's a new era and you have to offer something a bit more intelligent that this.
