McClellan hints at supporting Obama

Could McClellan be supporting Obama.
Could McClellan be supporting Obama.

(CNN) – Could Scott McClellan be an unlikely supporter of Barack Obama?

In several interviews with media organizations Thursday night, the former White House press secretary hinted that he was strongly leaning toward the Illinois senator's White House bid over his own party’s presumptive nominee.

McClellan, a former White House official who has angered several Republicans this week for his scathing critique of the Bush Administration, said he hasn't made an official decision on which candidate he will back, but offered that he is "intrigued by Sen. Obama's message."

"It's a message that is very similar to the one that Gov. Bush ran on in 2000," McClellan told CBS News.

The former White House press secretary struck a similar tone in an interview with USA Today, saying that he is attracted to both party's likely nominees.

"I have a lot of respect and admiration for Sen. McCain," he said. "I'm also intrigued by Sen. Obama."

McClellan, who played a key role in the president's 2000 campaign, isn't the first member of Bush's inner circle to express support for Obama. In 2007, former Bush strategist Matt Dowd also said he had become disillusioned with the president and said Obama was the only candidate that appealed to him.

Keep him, the last thing Obama needs is a pissed of republican backing him –

Stick to writing books about how unfair the world is!

Scott McClellan should be proud too tell the truth about what happend during the white house. If he support Obama its great. Its not wrong too change minds and want a change for the better, even if you have served the GOP before.

That Lieberman supports McCain is more worse, as a former vp candidate in 2000. But it tells that people can change their minds and support people no matter what party. If Collin Powel endorse Obama it would have a impact even bigger than Lieberman supporting McCain i think.

This is proof that Obama attracts those of us who feel compelled to tell the truth and do the moral thing.

I think this is a good idea. Someone from the Bush camp that has a conscience and believes that maybe Obama's message is the "right" message for America.

    Thanks Scott!

    OBAMA SUPPORTER IN IOWA:

I live in Iowa and have a brother that is in Iraq. He does NOT support Obama – he doesn't feel he's a strong enough leader to be commander in chief.

    Speak for yourself.

Sounds like more "old style Chicago politics" at work from the Obama campaign.

I love this quote from McClellan: It's a message that is very similar to the one that Gov. Bush ran on in 2000," McClellan told CBS News.

Yup; exactly. And look where that message of "change" got us.

The rats are leaving the sinking ship!! Bush and Rove liars!! You got to be kiding!! Bush and Rove have been lying ,and deceiving the American People for 7years. Barlett came on TV and said the Iraq War intelligence was faulty. The Intelligence was not faulty, they cherry pick the intelligence to fit their agenda to go to war no matter what. The intelligence is not to blame for Bush and Rove fiasco. Let be real these two are the artichects of the worst Foreign policies in 50 years. They are just trying to build themselves a legacy from a pile of lies and failed policies.

Shouldn't surprise anyone that now McClellan is jumping ship. Many of the rat's have already jumped ship from this, absolutely corrupt administration. Does anybody really doubt why this country is in the mess we are in right now? If Ruppert Murdock thinks Obama is going to win in a landslide. When Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter of all people can't even support their nominee. It should give you a clue as to what's going to happen come November. I still can't believe how George W got elected not once but twice! If there ever was a president that should have been impeached, he certainly would be the one. God Bless America.

Funny how the critics jump on someone for being honest! That's what is wrong with this country as we only focus on the negative, the scandals, the dirt, the weak, the poor, the pain of others, etc. That's why we need change and many people are afraid of that. Obama is trying to work for us but he will always have those who want to trash him. How sad. Personally, I believe that much of what McClellan says in his book is probably very true. For Americans to think he made this all up and is a jerk gives credence to thoughts that Americans are stupid and can be lead around by the nose.

  22. white middle aged woman FOR OBAMA

So he wrote a book telling us all something we already knew. What should it matter if he supports Sen. Obama ?. In the article he said Sen. Obama's message is similar to Gov. Bushes message in 2000. I don't think so, don't put Bush and Obama in the same category. Bush is the warmonger not Obama.

Why has CNN stopped reporting on the Superdelegates that endorse Obama everyday? CNN updates the delegate count hours later after FOX, Yahoo, MSNBC have already done so. I love CNN but I hate that I have to go to other news websites to get current news or should I say important updates!!

Mary says "McClellan needs to to his homework and educate himself about Senator Obama, the Socialist/Marxist. He is bad for America." If he stays with McCain he is remaining in the American Taliban since the GOP thinks it own's the right to project it's religious beliefs on the population
