Sen. Hillary Clinton greets patrons Sunday at a San Juan, Puerto Rico, bakery.

(CNN) — It was a clean sweep for Hillary Clinton in Puerto Rico in every demographic group, even those groups that are usually firmly in Barack Obama's camp.

The Illinois senator usually wins among males, young voters, those who attended college, and those with higher incomes.

But in the Puerto Rico primary, Clinton won 70 percent of the male vote, 65 percent of voters under 30, 70 percent of voters who attended college, and 66 percent of voters with an income of over $50,000.

Clinton also performed strongly among those demographic groups that have long constituted the backbone of her base.

She won 70 percent of female voters, 77 percent of those over 65, 69 percent who did not attend college, and 71 percent of voters with an income of $15,000 or less.

Hillary the smart choice 2008 and 2012! :)

Go ahead and make BO the Dem candidate and lose.

Voting for McCain will be signing our demise …
No more war, power and greed please!!!!

Bruce Taylor, Berkeley, CA   June 1st, 2008 7:17 pm ET

So.
She lost the election but won Puerto Rico.

bev   June 1st, 2008 7:17 pm ET

How can you say clean sweep, when only 20% went to vote. The other 60% stayed on the beach, why go and spend a beautifull day voting when our vote does nonot count in November. So Hillary I guess you did not get the 2 million you wanted from the people of Puerto Rico, to show the popular vote lead that your math shows.

Aliou FL   June 1st, 2008 7:15 pm ET

where is Clinton going with her win?

The only count in this race is delegate.

Loretta from California   June 1st, 2008 7:13 pm ET

Congrats Senator Clinton. Now, can we have Unity?

the Lorax   June 1st, 2008 6:59 pm ET

All these disgusting spoiled brats saying they will jump ship and vote for McCain if Obama wins the elections need to get a serious reality check. I guess they want four more years of Bush, corruption, war, failure.

Shame on HIllary for dragging it out long enough to generate this kind of division in the party.

jrzshor   June 1st, 2008 6:58 pm ET

too bad that this will not change the super del' s minds to swing to obama.

dems deserve to lose and i'm a dem!

Mike   June 1st, 2008 6:58 pm ET

Hey Democrat -

It's a shame people like you think that "teaching the DNC a lesson" is more important than the lives of US troops in Iraq, the economy, health care, and reproductive rights. When the US is hurting in 4 years after a third Bush term, you and your like will be blaming Obama - because you voted for McCain?

wake up people - Democrat in '08

Julie Holmes   June 1st, 2008 6:57 pm ET

Why is everyone missing the obvious. Hillary is not a Vice President, She would serve the greater good as Secratary of State and she has the relationships with those abroad the Barrack does not. I am quite suprised that no ne has thought of this or if they have not mentioned it.

Diane   June 1st, 2008 6:57 pm ET

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is The Peoples Choice

The Inclusive Choice

Electable in the General Election

The Peoples Choice

We still do not have a nominee.

Beware folks, this will backfire.

martie   June 1st, 2008 6:47 pm ET

I'm sorry for all of you who say "We will never vote for Obama". It is clear that you would like to hand over the presidency to McCain! Its time to unite the party, stop this nonsense and act like adults who can think!

Larry   June 1st, 2008 6:46 pm ET

Congrats to her.

As an Obama supporter, I continued to be concerned at how he is blowing off these remaining primaries. While we know she can't win, these wins just help her supporters BELIEVE she still has hope, and in the long run provide more ammo for them.

Tuesday can't come soon enough. Let's see if she is true to her word.

enough already.   June 1st, 2008 6:46 pm ET

Boo, hillary, Boo.
if you really want a democrat in the white house you should be working to unite your followers with obama, if they all vote for McCain like they say, this country is totally going down the drain… and it won't be "McSames" fault - it will be yours hillary.

Realistic   June 1st, 2008 6:42 pm ET

Sure, promise them anything and you'll get all their votes. Enjoy your last good day on the campaign and bow out tomorrow gracefully before the returns in South Dakota and Montana come in.

All the way girl! Its got to be Hilary to stop McCain. The new guy from Chicago cannot do it! The dems need to make a right decision - for a change!

Sam   June 1st, 2008 6:40 pm ET

She ran a horrible campaign, didn't have a good plan to start with, and now she doesn't have a good exit plan either, go figure!!! I am sure she would have been a horrible president as well if she was to win this thing!!! Thank God there is a guy named Obama running in the race for the Democrats beside this delusional lady.

Vera, Canada   June 1st, 2008 6:40 pm ET

Hillary is BUSH #2, she has to win no matter what and nothing else is more important than this. She claims herself to be a democrat? I don't think so, her arrogance has really sickened me, I just can't take her anymore.

Dazed and Confused   June 1st, 2008 6:35 pm ET

what the heck is John Roberts talking about? Hillary vs Obama is not the same as Hillary or Obama vs McCain. Saying, when it is dem vs dem, that I won this county so I will win in Nov is absolutely ridiculous!

Elsa   June 1st, 2008 6:33 pm ET

She can still run as independent, can't she? Or team up with McCain? That sounds pretty good to me.

Pete   June 1st, 2008 6:28 pm ET

At this point, OBVIOUSLY it's not about the Democratic Party uniting, nor is it about "the people" — it's all about Billary.

Grats Hillary, but Obama's got the nom in the bag.

To all the Hillary supporters who say they're gonna vote for McCain over Obama, hasn't Hillary said a million and a half times that "no matter who is the nominee we need a Democratic president?"

Eleanor   June 1st, 2008 6:14 pm ET

what about all the people who voted in caucases ….their votes dont count for anything!!!! How fair is that!
I wonder if all that counted as it should would she be ahead in the popular vote…I think not

Nick, Rochester, NY   June 1st, 2008 6:12 pm ET

Again Hillary shows who is #1….She wins big,But the DNC refuses to see,The truth, she is the only one who can win.In November all will be shown, when the Democratic party loses the white house, because of their own stupidty, but it will be to late then.Real shame the people we elected into office,so call Super Delgates, they do not do the will of the people, seems backwards to me….Keep fighting Hillary!

Dee for OB   June 1st, 2008 6:09 pm ET

I Agree, Obama will never ever win in November. The DNC is blind, and if they think they can force us Hillary supporters to vote for Obama, not only are they blind but STUDPID, too.

campaign is.

Chris from NY   June 1st, 2008 5:59 pm ET

She won so big because her last name is Clinton. She is married to the former president of United States who with her political machine campaigned for her wife. There something in a name if that name is Clinton.

Go Obama!
We need a president who can master his game well to win. Not media made candidate from the beggining.
Convectional wisdom told us she was declared nominee of the party from last year before any vote was casted. Now she is going downnnnnnnnnnnnn in history to have been bitten up by a new candidate in the face of America.
GO Go Obama and michelle. YOu are the best, just what we need!

Ex-Hillary supporter   June 1st, 2008 5:48 pm ET

It was a low turn out, most people understand that Obama is winning on all counts, fair and square, the nomination is almost sewn up.

David   June 1st, 2008 5:48 pm ET

This may be a stupid question, but why does PR get so many delegates when so few people vote, a few hundred thousand out of over 2 million potential, and when none of them can vote in the general election?

Ken in Las Vegas   June 1st, 2008 5:47 pm ET

I was just in Puerto Rico and most people there spend very little time thinking about the primaries because they don't vote in the fall. The exit polls today show that 1/3 of the Puerto Rico democrats don't even know who Barack Obama is because he wasn't the spouse of a former president. So out of all the people that knew both candidates at any level it is fairly split as to how they voted. Hmmmm, kinda makes you think, huh?

OLUJOG FROM AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS   June 1st, 2008 5:47 pm ET

Obama will win big in November.

Jay   June 1st, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Bill is a favorite in PR, Hillary states that she favors PR gaining statehood = Hillary Winning

Its a good thing Hillary won't make it out of the primaries to show PR how quick and easily she will lie to anybody for a vote.

Nick, Iowa City   June 1st, 2008 5:46 pm ET

a game changer? really M Johnson? Hillary gained 10 delegates off this one. she's still about 200 behind! meanwhile, Barack has less than forty to clinch it. so it will be taken care of on tuesday.

sam   June 1st, 2008 5:46 pm ET

She has to support P.R ,, because she want to get elected again in Senate in NY. Most of P. R..are in NY city and she will need their votes/suport .. This victory will does make different . If we make P.R. 51th state , then we have to go and make Canada / Mexico next 52and 53 states.

A Dem in Michigan   June 1st, 2008 5:46 pm ET

I watched interviews from PR of voters. All they could talk about is how good they had it with Bill. In fact through all of the interviews, all they talked about was Bill.

They aren't voting for Hillary, they're voting for Bill.

Josh Henderson   June 1st, 2008 5:45 pm ET

They didnt vote for her, they voted for Bill……………

Laura   June 1st, 2008 5:45 pm ET

So they can fight in your army and be drafted if need be but they are irrelevant? It sounds like some of you need to educate yourselves on your own country, I'm Canadian and I even know why they should have have a voice… even if they can't vote in the GE.

Chipster   June 1st, 2008 5:45 pm ET

I cannot help but laugh at the person who posted above that Sen. Obama is smart and campaigning in all the important states to win the election! I call that ironic because Sen. Clinton has won the states that have the most critical because of the electoral votes. Those are pretty important for winning in November.

Canadianguy   June 1st, 2008 5:45 pm ET

Theres so many anti-Clintons on here its insane

dont care   June 1st, 2008 5:45 pm ET

Fight as much as you want clinton, Obama is not backing down-ever
today's win in pr is not important-the sooner you start getting that through your head the better for us all.

Mike   June 1st, 2008 5:43 pm ET

You can vote for Obama a man like Bush is favored by another energy giant Excelon and has policies wrote by corporate executives….

or

You can vote for Hillary the original policy maker with the vision and unrelenting drive to finish what she starts.

Hillary 08

Cool… Good for her but this matters how?

Matt   June 1st, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Hillary's drive to "continue on" is not a testament to how tough she is but rather how stubborn she is. Her and her followers just can NOT accept the fact that the MAJORITY of democratic voters chose OBAMA over her.

tiffany jackson   June 1st, 2008 5:34 pm ET

This victory is more akin to if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there does it still make a noise

James   June 1st, 2008 4:12 pm ET

This is a primary that does not matter. Some of them don't even want to be part of the USA. Why do they vote in our primaries, that's my question? Time for making them independent. They don't pay taxes, yet receive rebate checks. LOL. What a travesty

Now what! she is still behind in every count. Someone please tell Clinton to start her dance out! GOD!

Dealt   June 1st, 2008 4:06 pm ET

Puerto Rico may be important in picking up a nominee, but actually… should it be counted as popular vote? Puerto Rico can't vote in the general election, so how does voting in Puerto Rico help Clinton withher argument of being more electable?

Erin   June 1st, 2008 4:05 pm ET

Hmm.. i wonder why Clinton won so big in Puerto Rico? Perhaps it's because Obama is being SMART, and is campaigning in places that will be key for a GENERAL ELECTION - becuase he's already WON. He doesn't need to continue to waste valuble time & energy in locations that aren't as important in the General Election.

Clinton can win the next 3 states by 80%, and not touch his delegate lead. I'm glad one of the two remaining candidates is smart enough to do this the right way.

Grant   June 1st, 2008 4:05 pm ET

Yawn, who cares…..

Hillary wins by a land slide. Why? Because she is simply the best. You've got to be in it to win it,and she is.Go Hillary.

Bill, Tampa   June 1st, 2008 4:03 pm ET

This was a nice win for Hillary, but you have to win EVERY caegory, like
Senator Obama did.

Not Impressed!

Hillary didn't even need to show _ up in PR to win. It is BILL they are paying back. WHO doesn't know this?

Bill continued to allow and even advanced the PR agenda to continue to refuse to vote for state status so they can remaln the LARGEST WELFARE state and STILL PAY NO U.S. TAXES!!

They vote down the pursuit of STATEHOOD every time to keep their sweetheart deal.

If more U.S. Citizens knew how much of their money goes to PR they would be as upset as they are about the Illeagal immigrant issue.
