From

(CNN) – Hillary Clinton appears to be benefiting from her extensive campaigning in Puerto Rico.

The New York Democrat spent 6 of the last 7 days campaigning on the island, while Barack Obama only made one visit to the territory. Among those Puerto Rican voters who decided in the last week, Clinton has a 31 point advantage, 67 percent to 33 percent.

The vast majority of Puerto Rican voters (78 percent) also said the candidates' personal visits to the island - a rarity in previous presidential contests – had a big impact on how they voted.

Campaigning at the end? she is just a sour looser.

jesse   June 1st, 2008 6:49 pm ET

Great she wins big in Puerto Rico, which cannot vote in November. She spent several days there, maybe she should have spent time in states that count.

Milliegee   June 1st, 2008 6:47 pm ET

It was always predicted that Senator Clinton would win big in Puerto Rico. But they don't vote in the general elections. What was the point? Incur more debt?

*yawn*

AP   June 1st, 2008 3:49 pm ET

It is ironic that campaign could be so aggressive in a state that will not vote in November.

Gianni   June 1st, 2008 3:46 pm ET

Who cares? If she won the other two states with margins,it wouldn´t make a difference. She is deluded, divisive, parochial and she should get used to working back in the senate.

Once Clinton Backer   June 1st, 2008 3:45 pm ET

So this means what in the General election???

Nothing short of wishful voting... until they have full voting rights this means simply nothing....

Hillary Clinton, will not be President , however she is threatening the Democratic Party for the post of Vice President. I fear now that she will not respect Obama once he is the President and she will conduct a secret backdoor government..

Keep the Clintons out of the White House... Bill Clinton Part II

so?

Congratulations to Hillary Clinton-The new President of Puerto Rico!!!

concerned   June 1st, 2008 3:42 pm ET

Hoorah SHE won – just what she wanted after campaigning all week. I'm glad we are winding down to the END. If it will please her to be called the winner of the popular vote – then please Sen. Obama give her her props so she can EXIT.

OBAMA ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE.......................

DEMOCRATS UNITE   June 1st, 2008 3:42 pm ET

If she was such a favorite why did she have to campaign so heavy, did she have a lot of convincing to do

Lechipan   June 1st, 2008 3:25 pm ET

Clinton's case is sealed and long forgotten....she should quit and give Obama some space to win against McCain.

Peachy Keen   June 1st, 2008 3:25 pm ET

Ha ha. This is hilarious. Of course she spent alot ot time there. She didn't have anyplace else to go. She needed the vacation.

Too bad it's all for nought. I really don't understand why they even waste their time having a primary when they can't vote in the general. Must be the fact a few people get a free paid vacation to the convention.

Bye Bye Hillary. See you on the talk circuit.

shaolinPrince   June 1st, 2008 3:12 pm ET

I do not understand why Puerto Rico voted so overwhelmingly for Clinton, she has never done anything for Puerto Ricans. Bill Clinton did nothing for Puerto Rico, he didn’t even stop the bombings taken place there. Exactly, what have the Clintons done for Puerto Rico. Did Bill Clinton make Puerto Rico a state? NO! Did he stop the bombings and pullout? NO! So tell why my Puerto Rican brothers and sisters fell for the propaganda?

I have yet to understand what Clinton has ever done for Hispanics or Blacks. Unless you count visiting our neighborhoods and churches (because of politics), she has never done anything for us. I am from New York and I know from first hand experience that she has never come out and made any difference in any common problems that face both Blacks and Hispanics here. Clinton, like many Democrats and republicans have made sure that Hispanics and Blacks stay divided because of fear of a very powerful voting block if we were to unite. We (Blacks and Hispanics) allowed ourselves to be manipulated by the media, and politicians into believing that Hispanics and Blacks are enemies, when in fact we face many of the same problems. Clinton stated that she represents a million Puerto Ricans here in New York but what has she actually done. Nothing! I grew up where Blacks and Hispanics were close and even had a saying “Black and Brown that’s how we get down”. However, the media and politicians have instilled into the American people that that Hispanics and Blacks have a dislike for each other so those who do not know the truth believe such propaganda. The media and politicians have made it seem like Blacks will not vote for Hispanics and Hispanics will not vote for Blacks, which is not true. However, when you hear it long enough you start to believe it and vote according to that propaganda. Clinton during this election has played that up from the beginning to keep us divided implying that because Obama is Black, Hispanics should not vote for him. This type of divisiveness by Clinton is a tactic to keep us apart. We (Hispanics and Blacks) must come together and ask Clinton what have you truly done for us.

Lois   June 1st, 2008 3:12 pm ET

Who cares? Hillary is toast. I am sick of this selfish, childish woman. Hillary and her supporters are sickening. Trying to use blackmail to get this divisive woman on the ballot. The supporters are just like Clinton. This is so sickening, I have absolutely had it with so called Democrats.

Ryan   June 1st, 2008 3:12 pm ET

According to exit polls sexism and racism helped Clinton a lot. I am very confused as to why Clinton seems to claim differently.

Over 30% of Clinton's supporters said race was an important factor. Two thirds of which said it was the most important factor.

Nearly 60% of Clinton's supporters said gender was important.. Over two thirds of which said it was the most important factor.

Frank   June 1st, 2008 3:12 pm ET

For votes that mean nothing in November.
Here is the bottom line:
Either Clinton or Obama can "spoil" the electability of the other.
So the real question becomes " how do you want to be remembered?"
Apparently Clinton as a "jerk" – forgive my language.

Megan   June 1st, 2008 3:12 pm ET

What exactly is this going to do for Hillary? Do they even get to vote in the general election, as a territory? I mean honestly. What is the flippin point anymore. Barack is going to be the nominee no matter where she campaigns at. Give a rest Hil. Leave in peace.

JC   June 1st, 2008 3:11 pm ET

Hillary thinks she knows what's the best for you.
If you want to be told how to live your life and make your comments in public, vote for Hillary and enjoy her ruling.

Ken   June 1st, 2008 3:11 pm ET

One can tell that Barack Hussein Obama does not even care about those voting in Puerto Rico. ONLY ONE visit by Barack Hussein Obama???? He does not deserve the votes from the important Puerto Rico!

Hillary Clinton deserves and has earned the votes from the people of Puerto Rico, and across the nation! She is the strongest candidate who CAN beat McCain in November.

Hillary Clinton is the President that the people want. It has been shown by the popular votes, beating out Barack Hussein Obama!

Hillary Clinton, our next President in 2008

Ed, Santa Fe, NM   June 1st, 2008 3:10 pm ET

pays off in what way? a meaningless win in PR?

Megalomaniac Hillary needs to shut up and step down.

Al Rider from Dallas   June 1st, 2008 3:10 pm ET

Making a BIG DEAL on PR vote, Mrs. Clinton will stay two more days in the campagin to get as much donation as she can get to pay her loan back to herself. This is a LEGAL way of begging money for someone's own irresponsibility.

Gloria   June 1st, 2008 3:09 pm ET

Who cares? In PR they don't even know about this primary... So, what's the big news.... if less than 200, 000 voted? What happened with HER popular vote? Thanks God, it is the last day we will see this menatlly ill woman on TV... Today is the end of Clintons! We are so happy!

Tyrone Brown   June 1st, 2008 3:09 pm ET

Clinto will win Puerto Rico and win big, but in the end Obama will be our candidate.

Chris from NY   June 1st, 2008 3:09 pm ET

She got every thing she wanted and needed and still haven't closed the delgate gap. This primary is about delegates and not popular votes. So her win in Pueto Rico is not going to make any difference either. More so, this is not a popularity contest. If that were the case, she would have won the primary along time ago. After all, it was her popularity that made most people believe that this primary was hers to win until Obama beat her at her own game.

ben   June 1st, 2008 3:09 pm ET

Ask her what she will do on Wednesday morning when she will be a normal citizen just like us. No press and no race and gender card to play and ya, no delegates coming on her way.
Go home Clintons!

Lisa   June 1st, 2008 3:08 pm ET

Thanks Puerto Rico!!

Voice   June 1st, 2008 3:08 pm ET

Wolf Bliter and Schbeider cannot wait to annoce that Clnton is leading the popular vote at 3:03 on saturday. They cannot wait!

I cannot wait to see their disappointment and humilation when their projection falls short. I cannot wait to trash their self-claimed fair and balanced journalism. It is baseless and biased journalism CNN!!!

Darrin Ford   June 1st, 2008 3:08 pm ET

I am a 36 year professional who has now decided that I WILL NOT VOTE in the general election if the dem. party does not put at the nominee the person who has the poplar vote. I want to be totally clear. Even if the republicans may win I will not vote period, and I have always voted. Futher, I live in a swing state!

mike   June 1st, 2008 3:08 pm ET

Clintons extensive campaign in Puerto Rico was because she is loosing and she is trying to make some stupid argument that she is winning. Hillary you wasted your money by campaigning extensively in Puerto Rico knowing it wont make any difference.

Loretta from California   June 1st, 2008 3:08 pm ET

When you subtract Puerto Rico, how popular is she? Why do we include Puerto Rico to determine popularity when they cannot vote in the general election?

one nation under god!!!!   June 1st, 2008 3:08 pm ET

I wonder how ther liberal fascist media will spin this.

ken   June 1st, 2008 3:08 pm ET

She can as well remain there as their president. We don't need her back in the mainland!

ELLAGENEMSMITH   June 1st, 2008 3:07 pm ET

Keep Hilary in Puerta Rico.

PLEASE KEEP BILL AS WELL

WE ARE SICK OF THEIR POLITICS.

one nation under god!!!!   June 1st, 2008 3:07 pm ET

The boy is unelectable.

okmichael   June 1st, 2008 3:07 pm ET

Schneider - how is it that you and Wolf keep acting as if the definition of the popular vote is not in question......you';re ignoring the fact that for any election to really count, you have to set the conditions for the election to be full and fair. That was not the case in Michigan and Florida – how can you call those valid elections when Obama wasn't on the ballot in one, and didn't campaign in either. And what about the caucus states who don't release vote counts?

I'm not saying this as a rabid Obama supporter - I'm not. I just don't understand how you can spout, without qualification, that Hillary has overtaken in popular vote. Thank god Anderson is up there trying to remind people of this.

B. Churchill   June 1st, 2008 3:06 pm ET

This is big news! – we all know how critical Puerto Rico is in the general election.... Did you know that no democratic candidate has ever made it to the White House without first, er, I mean, no mainlander has ever, now what was that, again? No, wait – I've got it – no territory where residents can't vote in the general election has ever... Stop it! I'm trying to keep a straight face! This is serious business – if Hillary doesn't get the nomination, they'll vote for Ricky Martin!

Kristin Bolton MA   June 1st, 2008 3:06 pm ET

Yes. Never mind Hillary's vote for the iraq war and the Kyl-Lieber amendment ok-ing war with Iran or her comment about obliterating Iran. By all means, just count the visits and vote accordingly. - Talk about low information voters.

Jane, NC   June 1st, 2008 3:06 pm ET

So it was Clinton's "heavy campaigning" and not the fact that Puerto Ricans were simply inclined to vote for her because she was the better candidate. An attempt at subtlety, but still bias.

As for Fla. and Mich., let's hope the Democratic Party never again places a candidate's name on the ballot unless that candidate's votes will be counted!

Freddy   June 1st, 2008 3:05 pm ET

on your face obama...If you can not get the latino vote how you think you will win

Marge Hibbing Mn   June 1st, 2008 3:04 pm ET

wait wait if obama tells the DNC to, they will take all those votes and give em to him, after all the people of Florida and Michigan said they DID NOT WANT HIM, the DNC turned around and gave him the votes didn't they. Kinda like they are GIVING him the nomination and making sure that McCain gets the presidency....

patrick   June 1st, 2008 3:04 pm ET

Puerto Rico overwhelmingly rejected him...

Color plays a BIG role!

Cindy   June 1st, 2008 3:04 pm ET

She did look reaaaaaly comfortable campaigning down there. Think about it.... if New York doesn't want her anymore, she can always move to Puerto Rico!!!

Jean, CANADA   June 1st, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Don't you have anything else better to do Schneider????!! CLINTON IS HISTORY!!!

Let's look to the future, OBAMA 08, 12 the TRUTH.

beckett   June 1st, 2008 3:02 pm ET

Let's all blindly continue to ignore these astonishing landslide victories and happily walk off the cliff together. Democrats seem more comfortable in the minority anyway. Less responsibility.

Mark Webb   June 1st, 2008 3:02 pm ET

Bravo Scheider! Six in row for a territory which will not even vote in general election!!!!!!
Maybe Clinton and Schneider will explain us why Puerto Rico is more important than regular states?????

lila   June 1st, 2008 3:02 pm ET

It does annoy me that Obama has blown off campaigning in Puerto Rico.. Also he blew off WV and Kentucky. It's the same mistake Hillary made when she blew off the 10 states that Obama won in a row after super tuesday. They were smallish and not wirth her time back then. She learned big state wins only gave her a few delegates in a win because they were close. She also learned that smaller states gave her a lot more when she won big. Obama seems to have forgotten how he racked up all his delegates, It was from his 10 land-slide wins in small states.

Maybe he does not need to keep Hillary's win's to a small number now,, but it's still not smart, imho.

terri   June 1st, 2008 3:01 pm ET

Who cares she is still a loser and they can't vote in the GE

Pedeen   June 1st, 2008 3:01 pm ET

With all respects to the people of Puerto Rico! their votes are insignificant in the General election which makes the whole primary election absolute!!!
