Bill Clinton lashes out at Vanity Fair reporter

Bill Clinton is not happy with the way a new magazine article portrays him.

Bill Clinton is not happy with the way a new magazine article portrays him.

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton's campaign Monday apologized for "inappropriate" language used by her husband in response to a Vanity Fair article that quoted anonymous sources questioning the former president's behavior since leaving the White House. (Listen to Clinton's comments Monday.)

The article, by the magazine's national editor Todd Purdum, suggested that Bill Clinton's personality had changed since his 2004 heart bypass surgery and said that there were reports of Clinton "seeing a lot of women on the road."

Purdum quoted four former Clinton aides saying that another of his former assistants had conducted "what one of these aides called an intervention" about the reports of philandering.

A writer for the Huffington Post, Mayhill Fowler, asked Clinton on Monday what he thought "about that hatchet job somebody did on you in Vanity Fair," according to a recording of the exchange posted on the Huffington Post's Web site.

"(He's) sleazy," Clinton responded. "He's a really dishonest reporter." (Earlier: Journalist defends article slamming Bill Clinton)

Why don't he just let it be... he got popped for having relations with an intern in the White House. If he would do that, there is no reason to think he wouldn't hound dog it anywhere else.

I agree with President Clinton! Most of the media has relentlessly attacked the ENTIRE Clinton family during Hillary's ENTIRE campaign! That's okay, if Obama wins the nomination, there will be HELL TO PAY for this country! I am a 20 year old who is a VERY STRONG DEMOCRAT who will be voting Republican if Obama wins the nomination, because I believe that America CANNOT afford to go downhill with another UNEXPERIENCED, ALL TALK AND NO GAME politician who CANNOT get things accomplished! Can someone please name ONE thing Obama has done for the state of Illinois or the United States in general? Nope. That's what I thought!

    HILLARY/MCCAIN '08!

Sleazy? Dishonest? Where have I heard those words before?...Oh, yeah, that's what we all said about Bill Clinton when he was impeached for lying in office and accepting sexual favors from an intern.

    President Obama,

Please, please, be careful you choose a VP you can trust ...in my mind that very very short list would include Colin Powell, Joe Biden, or Wesley Clark.

Mrs. Clinton say "now" she is ready to do "whatever it takes to put a democrat in the White house " N O W ?????????? Why didn't she start doing that by dropping out months ago. She did NOTHING TO HELP YOU !

Healing a political party is not as important as healing a country and a world .

Making an error here may obliterate all you have accomplished which has been spectacular and amazing.

You are not only our Candidate for change, but our only hope for restoration !

From a genuinely concerned 60 year old white male under $40K income with two eyes, two hands, two feet, and a burdened heart for America !

God Bless & Protect You, Mr. President

I'm sure the writer of the article being married to a former Clinton worker knows of what he speaks. For President Clinton to try and connect this to Senator Obama is way off path because I've heard that Senator Obama was mentioned in that same article in which some will call a negative light. President Clinton thought that he was talking to an everyday citizen when he was talking to the reporter – there is no telling what he has not been saying to everyday citizens.

It sounds like Bill Clinton is describing himself.... Projection is a defense mechanism. And like so many of his answers to questions of his philandering or misbehaviors, he uses this method as truth... Nothing will quite compensate for his lack of candor and moral fiber.

I find this reporting to be disgusting. President Clinton has been the target of the media forever. The timing also is questioned. Why now?I will not buy a Vanity Fair magazine. Leave President Clinton alone.

Bill Clinton– a pain in the neck to the end. Fitting that this race ends the way it started– with another megalomaniacal rant from the most overrated Democratic president of all time.

And of course, all the vicious little Obamabots who, prior to this primary campaign, would have defended Clinton to the hilt, will now throw him under the bus with a tirade of abuse and innuendo....

With friends like you guys, who needs enemies.

The truth is I believe Bill, but the problem is that is what the Repubs have being waiting for to use on Hillary. Even if it is a lie, the moment people start to remember he cheats, they will not vote for Hillary.

AS A FORMER PRESIDENT, BILL CLINTON IS SURROUNDED WITH SECRET SERVICE AGENTS AND AIDES AND OFTEN WITH CHELSEA. THIS SCUMBAG , RAT FROM VANITY FAIR IS SO FAR OUT IN ANOTHER PLANET , I CANT IMAGINE WHERE HE IS COMING FROM EXCEPT PERHAPS HIS OWN SELF INTEREST AND INCREASE THE FLAGGING MAGAZINE INDUSTRY.
WE DO NOT READ VANITY FAIR AND MANY OTHER MAGAZINES WE CAN GET EVERYTHING FROM NEWS TO ALL KINDS OF INFORMATION FASTER , UP TO THE MINUTE ON THE INTERNET.
THAT IS WHY MAGAZINES LIKE VANITY FAIR HAVE THEIR DAYS NUMBERED.

  17. Bill's is the one helping Obama!

Everytime Bill opens his mouth, he secures my decision to vote for Obama.

If Bill would have kept his hands to himself during his presidency, then this article would have been a big deal.

Of course, it's all Obama's fault that Hillary lost and the biased media. Was the media so biased about Rev Wright..about "bitter" comments? They pretty much crucified him with that. Pleease Bill just be quiet and go away. I know that you and HIllary are just in shock that she lost and I'm trying to give you the benefit but when you blame Obama that's just too much.

I'd be angry too if I had the (right wing/talk radio/gun/homophobia/religious zealot) nuts all tearing me down at every stop. The guy will be remembered as a great president someday, unlike the current incompetent occupant.

Desperate people can do odd things....Let us forgive Bill Clinton for now. He has so many things to answer back home after the campaign. Hillary is going go blame him for her lost.... All the same, Hillary should not hit him too hard. They met a stronger candidate better than both of them as well as their puppet Ickes.

  25. WOMAN 4 OBAMA

SEE?..................... THATS EXACTLY WHY MOST PEOPLE DO NOT VOTE FOR HER, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO PUT UP WITH BILL, HE HAS ALREADY DONE HIS TERM, AND HE FAILED US! AND THAT IS WHY OBAMA DOESNT WANT TO PUT HER ON THE DREAM TICKET, BECAUSE HE WILL HAVE TO PUT UP WITH HIS BS! IF I WAS OBAMA I WOULDNT PUT HER ON MY TICKET EITHER.

    THANKS,

    A ONCE HILLARY SUPPORTER!
